S-Net (The Impact of Social Media) Study: Automotive, Travel, Entertainment Top List of Most Discussed Categories on Social Networking Sites

S-Net (The Impact of Social Media) Study: Automotive, Travel, Entertainment Top List of Most Discussed Categories on Social Networking Sites

Reports highlight behaviors of 3,000 social networkers across 11 critical consumer categories

Chicago, IL (Vocus) September 9, 2010

Performics (http://www. performics. com), the performance marketing expert inside Publicis Groupe, today released vertical reports which detail findings from “S-Net (The Impact of Social Media),” a report from ROI Research Inc. (http://www. roiresearch. com) sponsored by Performics. The S-Net vertical reports complement the full study released in June and highlight findings specific to eleven different industries: apparel, appliances, automotive, CPG, electronics, entertainment, financial services, healthcare/pharma, home furnishings, telecommunications and travel.

The S-Net vertical reports benchmark how buyers use social networking sites to get advice on what to purchase, give advice on companies/products and post content specific to various industries. In addition to analyzing each category, Performics and ROI Research also compared variables across industries. According to those surveyed, the most highly discussed verticals on social networks include automotive (61 percent), travel (60 percent) and entertainment (57 percent). When it comes to social networkers seeking or sharing recommendations on local retailers, home furnishing led all verticals, including automotive.

Each report contains a wide array of industry-specific findings, but some of the highlights include:
Fifty-six percent of respondents are fans of appliance brands/retailers on Facebook Forty-nine percent of respondents discuss apparel on social networking sites to compare prices Forty-nine percent of respondents follow automotive brands/retailers on Twitter Twenty-three percent of respondents follow at least one travel company on either Facebook or Twitter Fifty-nine percent of respondents are at least somewhat interested in receiving new product announcements from financial services companies/brands on social networking sites

“Social networkers behave differently when interacting with their favorite jeans brand versus the manufacturer of that new hybrid car they’ve got their eye on,” said Daina Middleton, CEO of Performics. “Marketers can benefit by recognizing social networkers’ desire to participate with brands and keeping these behaviors in mind when setting strategies. Vertical-specific insights can help advertisers understand how their category fares in this new channel and the best ways to connect with their niche.”

Across verticals, respondents indicated that active participation with brands and other social networkers is more likely in some verticals than others. Highlights of the best-performing verticals for advice and feedback include:
Forty-nine percent of respondents most often use social networking sites to seek advice on electronics purchases Thirty-eight percent of respondents most often use social networking sites to give advice about financial services and home furnishings companies/products Respondents use social networking sites to provide feedback to appliance brands/retailers (33 percent) more than any other vertical Users are most likely to make an automotive purchase (26 percent) as a result of a recommendation someone posted on a social networking site than any other vertical

S-Net (The Impact of Social Media), a report from ROI Research Inc., sponsored by Performics, used a 30-minute online survey to collect information from 3,000 U. S. respondents who access at least one social network regularly. Responses were compiled, analyzed and, trended against data in two waves in 2009 and 2010. The objective of this study was to determine how various segments of users participate with social networks in their daily lives, specifically with regard to the purchase process for different types of products and in relation to other media channels.

ViSalus to Celebrate 100,000 Meals Donated Milestone with 'Feed the Kids!' Benefit Concert

ViSalus to Celebrate 100,000 Meals Donated Milestone with 'Feed the Kids!' Benefit Concert

St. Patrick’s Day Party will benefit Colorado’s Food Bank of the Rockies and feature a performance by U2 tribute band “Under a Blood Red Sky”

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 10, 2010

March is already shaping up to be a month that will go down in history for health transformation company ViSalus Sciences, which took time on its 5th birthday to celebrate the spirit of giving in grand fashion.

The company’s Body by Vi Community Challenge launched in November of 2009 with a goal of providing 100,000 shake meals to children within a year. ViSalus achieved the milestone in just under 4 months on March 3rd, five years to the day since the company was founded.

The Body by Vi™ Community Challenge continues to donate a nutritious shake meal through a network of local Distributors working with charitable organizations in their communities. For as little as 50 cents per meal, ViSalus Distributors and Customers can make a donation to be matched meal for meal by ViSalus. The recipients of the first 100,000 meals were organizations from all over the United States and Jamaica, as well as those suffering from the recent earthquake in Haiti who received 10,000 meals from the Body by Vi Community Challenge thanks to a partnership with World Emergency Relief.

ViSalus crossed the 100,000 mark at an event in Columbus, Ohio, where one of the company’s fastest-growing local communities rallied together in raising 14,880 meals in one night, with the largest donation coming from Dr. Paul Wehrum, a physician serving the Ohio area.

ViSalus CEO Ryan Blair was there for the event and expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the community in Ohio and around the country that made this moment possible. “We are just getting started,” said Blair. “We’ve developed a solution to children’s hunger in our local communities. One day in the near future we will solve the problem of children’s hunger in all of our ViSalus communities.”

Clearly not one to stop after achieving a first goal, Blair and ViSalus are throwing a party Friday March 12th to celebrate the first 100,000 meals and set a new goal at the company’s ViSalus Academy event in Denver, Colorado.

“Feed the Kids!”, a St. Patrick’s Day Party and Benefit Concert that will help raise shake meal donations for Food Bank of the Rockies, a local organization that helps children and families who are facing the reality of food insecurity. With over 192,000 children in the Denver area living in poverty and at the risk of hunger, the event hopes to further the state of Colorado’s campaign to end childhood hunger.

“We are grateful for ViSalus’s donation to our children’s programs and the kids love the shakes,” said Jeanne Downes, Nutrition Network Director for Food Bank of the Rockies. “Protein is so important for children to grow and it’s one of the most difficult nutrients to get donated.”

The evening will begin with an overview of the Body by Vi Challenge, the centerpiece of the ViSalus product line and opportunity, followed by a cocktail reception and performance by “Under a Blood Red Sky,” a renowned U2 tribute band that passionately recreates the bands most legendary songs.

The event is free to attend, with a $24 suggested donation for those wishing to support Food Bank of the Rockies and have a chance to win thousands of dollars worth of raffle prizes.

Event Details:
Friday, March 12th
Crowne Plaza Denver Int’l Airport

HARLEY PASTERNAK NAMED "HOLLYWOOD NORTH'S PERSONAL FITNESS GURU" BY THE NATIONAL POST

HARLEY PASTERNAK NAMED "HOLLYWOOD NORTH'S PERSONAL FITNESS GURU" BY THE NATIONAL POST

Harley Pasternak, Director of Bodiworx Health & Fitness Inc. and founder of Multi-Variable Training(tm), was recently named "Hollywood North's Personal Fitness Guru" by The National Post, one of Canada's national newspapers.

(PRWEB) January 10, 2003

TORONTO, ON - Harley Pasternak, Director of Bodiworx Health & Fitness Inc. and founder of Multi-Variable Training, was recently named "Hollywood North's Personal Fitness Guru" by The National Post, one of Canada's national

Newspapers.

"In Hollywood North, the fitness secret of the stars can be summed up in two words: Harley Pasternak," wrote Nathalie Atkinson. The article, which appeared in the newspaper's Saturday Edition (Dec. 07, 2002) described Harley as "an Anthony Robbins for the body. Part Baywatch hottie, part motivation-king Richard Simmons."

As one of the world's top nutrition and fitness advisors, Harley works with numerous high profile actors, actresses, producers and business executives helping them affect dramatic physical transformation for specific film and television projects.

He has shaped the physiques of such Hollywood stars as Stephen Dorff, Angela Bassett, Dennis Quaid, Juliette Lewis, Eliza

Dushku, Bai Ling; director Peter Werner and producer Don Carmody; entertainment icons Limp Bizkit and Swollen Members, and supermodel Juli Ordon.

So what does Harley have to say about fitness? "I am often asked, 'Just what is your secret?' Well, the first thing you

Need to know before beginning an exercise program is that there is no secret," explains Harley. "Fitness cannot be pursued, it must ensue. In other words, the results you seek should be the by-product of a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition and regular

Exercise."

To induce optimum results in minimal amounts of time, Harley pioneered the Multi-Variable Training(tm) (MVT) System. MVT bridges together the fields of science and math with exercise physiology and functional fitness. It is based upon short, intense exercise sessions in which the training variables - such as reps, sets and rest times - are constantly changing, thereby

Stimulating muscle growth, promoting fat loss, and keeping motivational levels high. It also helps determined dieters avoid those

Unwanted plateaus.

The MVT programs - which will also be offered online at www. harleypastnerak. com Jan 30th, 2003 - is based on various

Studies addressing the body's ability to adapt to different training stimuli and the effects of altering those factors to induce peak performance levels. But as the article says, "whether you firm up with a virtual Harley or the real thing, he will likely fulfill the promise of his corporate T-shirt: Look Better Naked."

Auto Parts Retailers Experience Healthy Sales Growth from a Year Ago As Consumers Make Repairs to Keep Aging Vehicles on Road Longer, Reports NPD

Auto parts retailers are benefiting from consumers now making good on their intentions to keep their aging vehicles on the road longer, after deferring repairs for the last two years. According to The NPD Group, a leading market research company, auto parts retailers experienced a seven percent growth in dollar sales for year-to-date April 2010 versus a year ago.

Houston, Texas (Vocus) August 8, 2010

Auto parts retailers are benefiting from consumers now making good on their intentions to keep their aging vehicles on the road longer, after deferring repairs for the last two years. According to automotive aftermarket research by The NPD Group, a leading market research company, auto parts retailers experienced a seven percent growth in dollar sales for year-to-date April 2010 versus a year ago.

NPD’s Aftermarket Industry Monitor, which tracks item-level sales at more than 18,000 U. S. auto parts store, finds that the sales growth is driven by applications parts, which increased 10 percent in dollar volume for the January through April 2010 time period versus a year-ago. The dollar gains, according to the Aftermarket Industry Monitor, came from real unit volume growth reflecting an actual increase in consumer transactions for replacement parts. Much of the volume growth came through the commercial channel, as repair shop bays filled up with aging vehicles.

“I believe what we’re seeing is that consumers have begun to recognize that repair costs are more economical than replacement costs,” says David Portalatin, industry analyst for NPD’s automotive aftermarket business. “Consumers have been telling us for two years they were aware their autos needed service but they were putting it off. They are now realizing they can no longer put off the services and are making the needed repairs.”

The top five hard parts categories, based on unit volume percent change for year ending April 2010, are suspension, application electrical, climate control, brakes, and driveline.

“The increase in application parts sales is a case where consumers’ intentions, what they say, did portend exactly to what they would do in the future,” says Portalatin. “By paying attention to what consumers said in 2009, marketers could anticipate what consumers would do in 2010.”

D. A. STUART CHOOSES THE WERCS® FOR GLOBAL MSDS SOLUTION

Implementation to Replace Four Separate MSDS Solutions

Albany, NY, (PRWEB) September 17, 2003

– The Wercs, Ltd., the global leader in Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) software, today announced that D. A. Stuart, a leader in the production of superbly engineered lubricants, additives, in-process and production cleaners, has chosen to implement The WERCS® as their global solution for authoring, managing and distributing MSDSs.

D. A. Stuart operates manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and the United States. With sales in these and many other countries, D. A. Stuart generates nearly 4,000 MSDSs, all of which are currently authored, managed and distributed by each facility’s unique solution. To streamline and standardize this process, D. A. Stuart decided to replace its disparate MSDS solutions with a single solution. After an exhaustive review process of major vendors, the company chose The WERCS® as its global MSDS solution.

“Compared to its peers, The WERCS® is very technologically advanced and user friendly,” said Dennis Mahoney, Global Systems Manager for D. A. Stuart. “In addition, this system came highly recommended from our industry counterparts, so we are confident that this software will create global efficiencies in health and safety and lead to cost savings.”

By implementing The WERCS®, D. A. Stuart will consolidate all health and safety functions at a North American and a European location. This will lead to advanced data integrity as well as increased efficiency in authoring, managing and distributing MSDSs. Furthermore, centralizing all data will help D. A. Stuart to more effectively meet global regulatory requirements. Additionally, The WERCS®’ WebViewer Module will allow for global access to all of D. A. Stuart’s MSDSs via the company’s intranet, which will dramatically improve their customer response time.

“D. A. Stuart is perfect example of how The WERCS® creates value at all levels of an organization,” said Lou DeSorbo, founder and president of The Wercs, Ltd. “By implementing The WERCS®, we are helping to further global regulatory compliance and improve customer service, using a single solution. We are certain D. A. Stuart will see a return on investment at different levels within its organization.”

D. A. Stuart has finished implementation in the United Kingdom and will move on to Canada, followed by the United States and Germany respectively. The company anticipates a decrease in implementation times and costs to stay on budget.
