Power of Yin: Conversations With Bod, Phase 2
An 8 Week Workshop for Women to explore issues of eating, body image, and weight.
(PRWEB) May 13, 2005
The relationships between the sacred feminine, emotions, body sensations, and food cravings will be explored in ÂThe Power of Yin an upcoming eight-week workshop for women 6:30-8:30 Monday evenings June 6-August 1 (no class 7/4) at the Institute of Noetic Sciences in Petaluma. This series is the second phase of the ÂConversations with Bod Research, open to the public.
Workshop topics will include an introduction to intuitive eating, hunger cues, and cultural messages about body image. Participants will have an opportunity to discover new ways to maintain balanced eating and self-care through a range of activities, including feminine/masculine energy integration and body attunement techniques, such as meditation, somatic movement, expressive art, and journaling.
The workshop presenters are Barbara Birsinger, a Registered Dietitian and Masters of Public Health, and Sonoma County Chiropractor and Religious Science Practitioner, Dr. Josephine Smith.
Birsinger, a resident of Petaluma is also a doctoral candidate in Spiritual Healing and Energy Medicine at Holos University Graduate Seminary in Missouri which offers specialty degrees in transpersonal psychology, integrative health care, and medical intuition. She has lead workshops on the topic over the past decade, and is currently conducting cutting edge research on the ÂEffects of an Integral Spiritual Approach to Restoring Balance to Eating, Weight and Care of the SelfÂ. Through the research she explores reconnecting with innate intuitive wisdom and spiritual consciousness, and the relationship between healthy eating and healthy attitudes about food and body. This research is also being replicated as a college course at Brigham Young University in Utah.
Dr. Smith practiced nearly two decades as a Chiropractor, and is currently in ministerial school, teaches body-mind-spirit classes and has recently co-facilitated Conversations With Bod workshops with Birsinger.
ÂChanging eating habits and body attitudes is a tough challenge in our culture. My approach integrates the spiritual and symbolic messages to bring about changes that can result in improved self-care practices, body esteem and healthy eating. This can reduce food cravings and weight in a way that puts dysfunctional eating out of a job! said Birsinger.
Seating is limited. Advanced registration is preferred. For more information, call (888) 243-9582 or visit www. BarbaraBirsinger. com.
