Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) April 6, 2009

Brenda Berg, founder and CEO of juvenile products company Scandinavian Child, has accepted the Vice Chairman position of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association's (JPMA) Board of Directors. A strong safety advocate, Brenda was appointed to the JPMA Board in June 2006 and serves as a voting member of two ASTM Safety Committees.

"As Vice Chairman, Brenda continues in a JPMA Board leadership position during a time when JPMA's role in the industry is needed more than ever. With a tough economy and constant changes in product safety regulations, JPMA is working hard to represent the needs of its membership while continuing to advocate for public safety, health and product quality," said Mike Dwyer, Executive Director of JPMA.

"It is my pleasure to play a role in JPMA's leadership," says Brenda Berg. "As a mom and juvenile products vendor, I know how important it is for this industry to stay involved in key issues around product regulation and safety. I'm proud of the role JPMA plays in certifying product testing. It is one of many examples of how JPMA serves the public and I look forward to continuing to advocate for both manufacturers and consumers," Brenda continued.

About JPMA

Founded in 1962, the JPMA (http://www. jpma. org (http://www. jpma. org)) is a national trade organization representing 250 companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico who manufacture, import and/or distribute infant products such as cribs, car seats, strollers, bedding, and a wide range of accessories and decorative items. JPMA's extensive history of leadership in juvenile product safety includes the development of a comprehensive Certification Program to help guide parents and caregivers toward purchasing juvenile products that are built with safety in mind. JPMA's Certification Seal is available to manufacturers who voluntarily submit products for testing. Only after the product passes the rigorous testing of the appropriate ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standard can it display the JPMA Certification Seal. In addition to product testing, JPMA works with government officials, consumer groups, and industry leaders to educate consumers on the safe selection and use of juvenile products.
