Heart House Dallas, a free afterschool educational program for at-risk children in Dallas County, announces its 6th annual Grape Escape to celebrate the organization’s tenth anniversary. The popular fundraiser will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010, 6:30-9:30 PM, at Shortell Designs, 1115 Dragon Street, Dallas TX 75207. Along with numerous wine offerings, there will be a silent auction and a Scotch-tasting from well-known bottlers.
The Grape Escape supports Heart House Dallas’ mission to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive haven for at-risk children at the apartment complexes where they live. Heart House Dallas offers various academic programs that include homework assistance, citizenship and character development, math, science, and literacy lessons. The Heart House Dallas environment helps these children through each success to build their self-confidence significantly both at school and in life and the opportunity to become the best they can be as individuals.
“This year’s Grape Escape is truly special for us as we celebrate Heart House Dallas’ tenth anniversary,” said Leesa Ratliff Alhadef, Co-Chair, 6th Annual Grape Escape. “Since 2000, Heart House Dallas has grown significantly from providing its services to just a handful of children to serving currently 160 children daily with 75+ on the waiting list.”
