BoldMouth (http://www. boldmouth. com) Inc., a social marketing services and technology agency, today announced their sponsorship of the Ruby Code Jam (http://www. rubycodejam. com), a Ruby on Rails user group, to support technological innovation in Central Virginia.

The Ruby Code Jam is led by technologist Nick Laiacona, who has created a user group to drive tech innovation in Central Virginia using the Ruby on Rails platform. Ruby on Rails is an open source web application framework for the Ruby programming language that was extracted from David Hansson's work on Basecamp, a popular project management tool developed by the web application company, 37signals.

"The Ruby Code Jam is about collaboration, innovation and growth," noted BoldMouth founder and President Todd Tweedy. "Charlottesville is a business-minded city with a diversity of industries, including manufacturing, medical services, and life sciences. However, our technology firms and technologists often get overlooked. The Ruby Code Jam is one group working to showcase Charlottesville's tech achievements."

According to CNNmoney. com's 100 Best Places to Live and Launch (http://money. cnn. com/galleries/2008/fsb/0803/gallery. best_places_to_launch. fsb/18.html), high-tech businesses in the area generate an estimated $4 billion in annual revenues.

"The Ruby Code Jam attracts an impressive talent pool of technologists and coders who are working on innovative projects in university settings, business incubators, new tech start-ups as well as established enterprises," observed Ruby Code Jam founder Nick Laiacona. "The Ruby Code Jam allows us to share knowledge and experience and at the same time grow professionally as a community."

Ruby Code Jam events are held at the Ten Flavors Studio in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia. Events are held twice a month and are open to the public. To learn more about The Ruby Jam or to attend an upcoming event, visit http://www. rubycodejam. com (http://www. rubycodejam. com).
