Art4Love Inc. (ALVN. PK) announces the fifth show of its opening season at a4L GALLERY. Mark Wiener will showcase selected works in "Mark Wiener: Barcodes" which will run from March 15, 2006 through April 13, 2006.The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 from 5:00 to 9:30 PM at a4L GALLERY, 45 East 20th Street, 9th floor, New York, NY 10003, between Broadway and Park Avenue South.
Artist Mark Wiener is influenced by the active narrative line in the works of Ashcan painter Reginald Marsh, and inspired by a contemporary echo of that line, the graffiti of Lower Manhattan. He began this intensive study of gesture, in white lines on black, early in 2005 and over the past year has extended this exploration to varying the focus and the degrees of negative and positive space, and the addition of color.
Wiener's is present study concentrates on the colors blue and black, the line in motion under the influence of his super-high-energy New York City surroundings. Making reference to the patterns that move and change our lives, from binary code, to DNA, to the UPC codes on products, he has titled this exhibition "Barcodes and Other Self-Portraits."
Mark Wiener was one of the American artists selected to participate in the prestigious Felissimo Design House "Tribute 21" program, supporting UNESCO.
