The whole premise is born out of the fact that a luxury traveller's poolside experience should be as important as their hotel room. Indeed, it was because of a bad experience that WBSP was launched. Co-founder Susan Crimp travelled to Santorini, in the Greek Islands to find the beautiful pool she had seen online wasn't a swimming pool to really get in but rather a pool to just look at. As a result along with Marcy Roth, this new website was launched so there would be no surprises for other vacationers. "I arrived after a 5,000 mile journey to find this beautiful looking pool, which wasn't functional. The swimming pool literally had no steps in and no way out. Everyone was looking at the pool and it was beautiful, but swimming was out, unless you jumped in and then pulled yourself out, with the pebbles around the edge made that a very difficult feat. Subsequently, I thought let's check out the pools of the world and come up with the best so no one ever gets surprised on arrival again."
The founders also believe that promoting swimming pools is healthy and soothing in these hectic times. Swimming is a very healthy past time, and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. A pool should not only be aesthetically pleasing to the eye but should also offer safety and comfort to ensure maximum enjoyment.
