Enki Sports to Unveil The First Smart Phone Based Training System at the Amgen Tour of California

By combining the best of sports science, wireless sensors, smart phones and Web technologies, startup Enki Sports hopes to revolutionize the way athletes of all levels train. Cyclists, runners and triathletes will get their first glimpse of the product at the Amgen Tour of California Lifestyle Festival

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 12, 2010

By leveraging the computing power of today’s phones along with low-cost and low-power wireless fitness sensors, Enki Sports seeks to deliver sophisticated and user-friendly training applications to the masses. The system will coach the athlete based on their training plan, monitor’s the athlete’s performance via wireless sensors and provide feedback during performance to help the athlete follow their plan.

The tightly-integrated system includes a web site that will modify the athlete’s plan based on workout data. This modified plan is then pushed back down to the phone in time for the next workout, ensuring that the athlete stays on track.

“One of the biggest problems we solve is to give each workout context within the athlete’s overall plan and how it relates to their goals. Athletes are competitive people and they tend to over-train. Because our system knows the athlete’s plan and listens to the athlete’s body in real time, our customers are more likely to avoid fatigue-related injuries and performance issues,” according to Kirk Ewing CEO, Enki Sports.

Sport Packages are being released to support cyclists, runners, swimmers and triathletes. The packages contain the wireless sensors to record heart rate and sport specific data, bundled with our phone application and a subscription to the MyEnki online training application. Some phones, such as the iPhone, will require an accessory to be attached. These packages will be available at your local bike shop, specialty sports retailers and online at http://www. enkisport. com (http://www. enkisport. com). Starting at $225 this represents a significant savings from other dedicated device solutions with similar features.

The first platform to be supported will be the iPhone. iPhone Sport Packages for Cycling will ship in June with Running following in August and Triathlon later in Q4 2010. Support for Android will arrive in Q4 2010 with Blackberry and other phones following in 2011.
