Susan G. Komen for the Cure Partners with Healthcare IT Leader Emdeon for Innovative Breast Health Awareness Campaigns

Partnership leverages Emdeon's vast reach across the U. S. healthcare industry with Susan G. Komen's mission to cure breast cancer.

Nashville, Tenn. (Vocus) October 28, 2009

Emdeon® (NYSE: EM) today announced a partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world's largest breast cancer advocacy organization. Through this partnership, Emdeon's Web-based software solution, Emdeon Office™, will feature Susan G. Komen literature about breast cancer.

The printable materials include topics such as "Breast Cancer Risk Factors", "When You Discover A Lump", and "Sexuality and Intimacy" in both English and Spanish formats. There is no limit on the number of times the providers may print the disease prevention and wellness materials.

"Through the Emdeon Office web portal, healthcare providers and their staff can access six different versions of print-on-demand breast health information while interacting with the patient during the normal work flow," said Geoff Pace, senior vice president of product development for Emdeon, whose department created the web solution for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Emdeon Office is an Internet-based solution that enables healthcare providers to conduct everyday administrative transactions, including patient eligibility/benefits verification, claim submission, referrals, authorizations and pre-certifications for care. It is currently in use in professional offices representing nearly 100,000 healthcare professionals across the country.

"This partnership with Emdeon will help deliver potentially life-saving information to providers at the point of care," said Elizabeth Thompson, vice president of health science at Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "It will enable our breast health messages to reach patients when they need them most, helping to bring us one step closer to a world without breast cancer."

In addition to exposing thousands of healthcare providers to readily accessible, print-quality patient education downloads, Emdeon is engaging in another campaign to turn America's mailboxes pink this October. During the month, Emdeon's print and mail facilities will print outgoing consumer healthcare statement envelopes with a hot pink awareness message that reads, "Are you Inspired to Save a Life? Find out how at www. komen. org/inspire." (http://www. komen. org/inspire.") The envelopes are expected to reach more than twelve million consumers in the month of October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and the focus of numerous Susan G. Komen for the Cure awareness campaigns.

"It is an honor to partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to bring together their important breast health message and our vast footprint in the healthcare markets," said Miriam Paramore, senior vice president of corporate strategy at Emdeon. "We are committed to making healthcare efficient, and will continue to layer innovative solutions like these on top of our practical products that are already in the market," Paramore said.
