METROCON10 Expo & Conference: Architecture & Design Community Members Helping Each Other to Weather the Stressed Economy
Summary: In an economy that has caused all levels of the interior design industry – from established professionals to new graduates and from sole proprietors to global companies – to struggle and reformulate, METROCON10 Expo & Conference provided incredible value to members of the Southwest region’s design community.
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 27, 2010
The volunteer committee of organizers of METROCON10 Expo & Conference is pleased to announce that the two-day event attracted 2,601 participants from 23 states. Enjoying its eighth year, the budget-conscious show focused on bringing the latest in products and innovative ideas to interior designers, architects, facility managers, interior design students, and other vital design industry members.
Held at Dallas Market Hall (2200 Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX 75207) on Thursday, August 12 and Friday, August 13, 2010, METROCON10 featured 200 exhibitors showing under 259 vendor names in 360 booths, as well as 50 interior design-related continuing education courses and a happy hour designed especially for networking.
In an economy that has seen many established interior design industry members out of work for over a year, new graduates struggling to find entry-level jobs, fewer companies covering association dues or professional state registration fees for their employees, and a freeze on raises for those fortunate enough to be employed, METROCON10 Expo & Conference provided an indispensable service to stressed design industry members.
“More than ever, it is imperative that my fellow volunteers and I do our utmost to organize a budget-sensitive, yet highly effective, business-building and career-boosting event for those in our industry who may be struggling,” said Presiding Chair, Dianne Etheredge, ASID, IIDA, RID.
The annual event is unique in that it is organized through landmark volunteer collaboration between the Texas Chapter of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and the Texas-Oklahoma Chapter of IIDA (International Interior Design Association). In a determined effort to serve the corporate, healthcare, hospitality, institutional, multifamily, residential, and retail sectors, the two organizations join forces and pool resources to offer the best in exhibitors and interior design continuing education to their members and beyond.
Due to the extreme dedication and hard work of a handful of ASID Texas and IIDA Texas-Oklahoma volunteers who make up the METROCON Committee, as well as the generosity of 37 show sponsors – including 2010 Title Sponsor, OM Workspace, and 2010 Media Sponsor, Design Guide – prices for both exhibitors and attendees are extremely low relative to similar events around the USA.
The committee wants to congratulate the following exhibitors who are the recipients of this year’s Pegasus Awards:
Best Promotional Campaign – CRONAN & ASSOCIATES
Most Informative Exhibit – FEIZY RUGS
Best New Product – 3FORM
Best Overall Exhibit – TEKNION
