The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk™ is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, this inspiring event calls on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer's.

"Every 70 seconds, someone in America develops Alzheimer's disease," said Denise de Cock, owner of Torrance Home Instead Senior Care. "Our CAREGiversSM witness the staggering impact of this disease not only on seniors but their families as well."

In Los Angeles, the 5K walk will be held Sunday, November 1 at 350 South Grand Ave., in downtown Los Angeles. The Home Instead Senior Care Torrance office is planning on fielding a team of 10 and is actively looking for team members. Those interested in participating should call 310-542-0563 or 1-800-FOR SENIORS.

An estimated 5.3 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer's disease, according to 2009 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures, recently released by the Alzheimer's Association.
