Mecklenburg EMS Agency Selects In Motion Technology for Seamless and Secure Access to Mission-Critical Data

In Motion Technology wins competitive bid to supply vehicle router technology to award winning public safety agency

(PRWEB) March 22, 2006

Charlotte, NC and Vancouver, BC, March 22, 2006 – In Motion Technology today announces the Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency, also known as Medic, has selected its onBoardTM Mobile Gateway 1000 (oMG 1000) for deployment in 60 vehicles that serve Mecklenburg County. The oMG 1000 provides robust and secure wireless wide area access to mission critical data to handheld devices (laptops, PDAs) in the vehicle. Medic has installed the oMG 1000 in its EMS vehicles to run the Mobile Area Routing and Vehicle Location System (MARVLIS) from Bradshaw Consulting Services and the electronic patient care record software from Medusa Medical Technologies, Inc.

“The oMG 1000 gives us a secure, robust and flexible mobile data communications infrastructure for our paramedics, and helps our dispatchers track and stay in touch with the vehicles,” commented Mr. Barry Bagwell, Assistant Director of Operations for the Mecklenburg County Medical Services Agency. “The gateway allows us to consolidate communications and security for all of our current and future applications through one device. This solution has truly helped us manage our data communications costs and boost our efficiencies.”

The oMG 1000 is a ruggedized server and wireless gateway designed for use in harsh mobile and portable environments. It securely extends the convenience and simplicity of Ethernet networking to remote and mobile locations through the transparent use of high-speed wireless data networks. The oMG 1000’s ability to deliver GPS information to multiple devices in the vehicle as well as multiple servers also increases the reliability and flexibility of location based systems deployed by Medic.

“Our award winning Mobile LAN (mLAN) solution allows our mission critical clients to more rapidly, efficiently and securely deploy any type of mobile application,” comments Kirk Moir, President and CEO, In Motion Technology. “By creating a robust and secure local area network within the vehicle and sharing the WAN connection among multiple handheld devices, the onBoard Mobile Gateway cuts mobile data communications costs by 50-90%. We are pleased to have earned the right to supply Mecklenburg’s needs in this increasingly important area.”
