Schlicter Bogard & Denton Selects iCONECT for Yaz/Yasmin Lawsuit

Company’s nXT Platform Helps Manage Multi-District Litigation across More Than 150 Firms and Large Volumes of Case-Related Data for Legal Review

Los Angeles, CA (Vocus) January 2, 2011

In November 2009, the U. S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPMDL) granted a petition filed by plaintiffs against Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Yaz® and Yasmin® birth control pills, and Barr Laboratories and Teva Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturers of Ocella®, the generic form of Yasmin®. Thousands of plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit in the Yaz®/Yasmin® multidistrict litigation (MDL). Attorneys from the law firm Schlichter Bogard & Denton secured key leadership positions in the MDL and turned to iCONECT Development LLC, a world leader in litigation support and collaboration software, to help manage the discovery and review for the case.

All pending cases and future lawsuits filed in the federal court system will be centralized for discovery purposes in the Southern District of Illinois. That consolidation currently involves more than 150 law firms that are dispersed all over the country. Anticipating a review load ranging in the millions of documents, Schlichter Bogard & Denton selected iCONECT’s nXT platform to handle heavy volumes of multilingual, multi district data.

“The technical support provided by iCONECT is exceptional and the review platform is user friendly and well suited for complex litigation.” said Roger Denton, Partner at Schlichter Bogard & Denton and the appointed MDL liaison counsel.

ICONECT nXT enables reviewers to analyze multilingual documents using concept searching and clustering, sort e-mail by filtering forwards or replies, assign the same review designation with one click, and verify review accuracy with detailed reports. Administrators can track batch review or standard review progress by user or by project.

“As new cases join the MDL, our nXT platform quickly, easily integrates both the representing firm and its review data, regardless of size, source, language or document type,” said Ian Campbell, Chief Operating Officer for iCONECT. “Cases like this one ideally demonstrate the high capacity, flexibility and intuitive user interface of our technology.”

ICONECT’s solutions are currently available as an in-house offering and through iCONECT’s worldwide network of more than 50 ASPs. For more information on how to become an authorized iCONECT ASP, contact the company via email at info(at)iconect(dot)com.
