Jacqueline Harounian has been named by New York Super Lawyers magazine as one of the outstanding attorneys in the New York Metro area for 2010. Only five percent of lawyers in the state are named by Super Lawyers, for attaining a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
Ms. Harounian received her J. D. with honors from Hofstra School of Law in 1994, graduating with distinction in the top 10% of her class. Having made significant contributions to Wisselman, Harounian & Associates, P. C. and her clients, she was named Partner in 2006. She adeptly handles complex family and matrimonial litigation, appearing on custody, divorce and support matters in Family and Supreme Court. Jacqueline is committed to providing the highest quality representation, treating all her clients with respect and compassion, care and understanding and guiding them towards a resolution that is in their best interest. Although Ms. Harounian is an experienced trial attorney, she believes that a negotiated settlement, rather than litigation, is almost always the preferred approach for her clients.
Ms. Harounian gives her time, effort and counsel to many professional and not-for-profit organizations, including Long Island Woman's Agenda (LIWA), YASHAR chapters for lawyers and judges, Nassau County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Great Neck Chamber of Commerce, Great Neck Lawyer's Association, Alliance/S. E ("Stop America's Violence Everywhere), the Alumnae Board, Hofstra University School of Law, Hofstra Law School Mentoring Program, Columbia College Admissions and Recruitment, and the Executive Board of Sephardic Heritage Alliance, Inc.
Ms. Harounian was presented with the Nassau County Soroptomist International "Making a Difference Award" and the 40 Under 40 Club for Rising Stars by the Long Island Business News and she was recognized as one of the "Fortune 52" by the Long Island Press.
Ms. Harounian has conducted many years of legal workshops for mental health professionals, enabling them to better assist patients going through matrimonial litigation. She is a guest speaker at Temples, schools, and other community organizations and she is sought after for her legal expertise by television news and print media for her comments on topical issues relating to family law. Several years ago, she began a separation-divorce legal clinic that she continues to offer at no charge to members of the community twice a month. More info on the group can be found at
