On the tail of National Fire Prevention Month, and in addition to their Fire Safety program, St. John Ambulance would like to invite the Saskatchewan public to view the additional courses offered through their online catalog. Employers can access the resources they need, cost effectively, in order to train their employees in a variety of specific areas. Group rates or bulk pricing are available.
All courses can be accessed through the St. John Ambulance Saskatchewan website, http://sk. sjatraining. ca. These programs are available around the clock and participants can work at their own pace and at their own convenience. Programs can typically be completed in 2-5 hours, depending on the participant’s prior knowledge base with the course subject matter. Upon successful completion of each course, participants will be granted a certificate of completion.
Some examples of the courses available online are: Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS); Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG); Workplace Harassment Sensitivity Training; and Medical Terminology.
Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) is a hazard communication system designed to ensure workers using hazardous materials, or controlled products, have all the necessary information to safely handle, store and dispose of these materials.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods is an introduction to TDG, its regulations and proper training, proper documentation, safety marks and means of containment, forbidden goods, exemptions and special provisions as well as, immediate reporting and procedures to follow in the event of an emergency.
Workplace Harassment Sensitivity Training is a three-unit course designed for both management and non-management workers. This course will equip individuals to recognize and properly address workplace harassment and to prevent these situations when at all possible.
The Medical Terminology course provides an introduction to the professional language used by those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of healing. The program will also introduce those not currently involved in the health care environment with an introduction to the language of medicine. In addition, the program will provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and physiology.
St. John Ambulance’s mission is to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service. We carry out our mission through community service, and first aid and CPR training. Community Services volunteers include uniformed members who serve communities across Canada, providing first aid and emergency response support, as well as improving the quality of life for people confined to a health care facility, through our Therapy Dog visitation program. Our volunteers contribute millions of hours to Canadian communities each year. First aid and CPR Training is comprised of instructors, volunteers and staff who provide high-quality first aid training and products. Under the guidance of our network of medical and health care professionals, St. John Ambulance is the national leader, setting the standard for training in first aid, CPR and other lifesaving skills.
