The grant, which is an increase on last yearÂs allocation, was welcomed by Defence Minister Willie OÂDea and the Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children, Tim OÂMalley last week.
Minister OÂDea said that this allocation, "will have a major practical impact on the successful clubs who have received funding and will give them and the entire community a significant boost. "This investment by the Government into LimerickÂs sports facilities is making a real difference on the ground which is benefiting young and old, he said.
Minister OÂDea also stressed that he will lobby Minister OÂDonoghue vigorously on behalf of the unsuccessful clubs to ensure funding is made available for them under the scheme when the next phase of the Sports Grants Programme is being announced in the coming months.
Welcoming the allocations, Minister OÂMalley said that they are a recognition of LimerickÂs sporting excellence. http://www. limerick. com (http://www. limerick. com)
