Optical Image Technology, Inc. (OIT) has hired and promoted a total of seven staff members as part of the company’s growth plan. These individuals will be key players in the software company’s future product development and promotion.
Jerry Cannie was promoted from within the company to be named VP of Technology; Jim Hopkins accepted the Director of Development position; Molly Spangler came aboard as a system analyst; Jim Greco joined OIT as technical writer; and Barbara Collins was hired as the public relations coordinator. Adam McGovern and Jeff Moroski were also promoted to software architects.
A driving force in OIT's software development since 1996, Jerry Cannie first began his career at OIT as a developer and his skills were later put to use as Director of Product Development. Today, he is the company's Vice President of Technology and leads OIT's Development, Support and Quality Assurance departments. Cannie attended Penn State’s College of Engineering.
Jim Hopkins, recently hired in the role of Director of Development, is responsible for guiding the development team’s future direction as well as project planning and moving the DocFinity® software toward J2EE technology. Jim came to OIT after an eight-year career developing simulation software with Celero Technologies. Hopkins holds a degree in computer science from The Pennsylvania State University.
“Through the VP appointment of Cannie, we have poised our company for the next phase of growth, and we could not have found a more deserving and well-qualified person to lead it,” said Scott Buchart, president of OIT. “By bringing aboard a highly seasoned Director of Development to guide and oversee product development and work with our VP of Technology, we are better positioned than ever to address current and future needs within the marketplace.”
Molly Spangler, a graduate of Penn State with a B. S in Information Systems Management, joined the Professional Services Department as a system analyst. Molly came to OIT after working for Raytheon as a software engineer where she became a Six Sigma specialist. Her role at OIT is to assist clients with specialized services and ensure that their software needs are met as their own requirements grow and change.
Joining OIT as a technical writer, Jim Greco has over fifteen years of experience as a reporter and information technology generalist. Jim’s main career focus has always been communications, but he also has experience in programming, managing projects, and working at help desks. As OIT’s technical writer, he is responsible for maintaining and expanding the company’s technical documentation and user manuals.
Barbara Collins is employed as the company’s public relations coordinator and brings experience from working as a development associate for Easter Seals Central Pennsylvania, where she organized special events while supporting media promotion and marketing efforts. Collins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Journalism from Lock Haven University.
In addition, Adam McGovern and Jeff Moroski were promoted to software architects. Both team members are alumni of The Pennsylvania State University and have been with the company for five or more years each. “We have a great team of highly skilled developers, and we are glad to be able to offer these individuals the leadership opportunities they have earned,” commented Ron Prichard, COO of OIT.
