Patricia Grace and Rita Files of Aging with Grace will be featured speakers at the Alliance for Retired Americans Regional Conferences to be held this upcoming Spring in Las Vegas, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Orlando. The organization represents 3.5 million AFLCIO retirees in the US and Canada. Several thousand members from all aspects of labor will be attending.
Aging with Grace is the nationally recognized solution to eldercare stress in the workplace. Advances in medicine and technology allow people to live longer, resulting in the need for many individuals active in the work force to be faced with the need to manage their loved ones' eldercare needs. Patricia Grace, CEO, recognized this need and raced to the forefront with a solution, the founding of Aging with Grace. Together, Grace and Files have developed an innovative approach that focuses on educating, coordinating and facilitating individualized care options one family at a time.
Grace and Files will present "Solutions for the working Elder-Caregiver" to discuss the impact of care giving on families and on businesses, the maze of elder care options, and practical solutions for those with aging relatives. Elder care giving is fast becoming one of the most important family issues in the workplace. The emotional and financial costs quickly mount as an estimated 21 percent of all US households provide care for an adult family member.
"With elder caregiving becoming more of an issue for our members we have reached out to Aging with Grace to address this growing need. Both women are known for delivering a program that is filled with anecdotal experience, humor and practical tips," said Steve Hayes, Director of Business Development, Alliance for Retired Americans.
The vision of Aging with Grace is to create a win-win situation for workers who are caring for an elderly relative and the businesses who employ them. AWG is developing relationships with labor unions, benefits managers, and businesses to offer solutions to this growing problem. This is accomplished by offering education, professional assessment of needs, recommendations about the need for services or placement, guidance during implementation of recommendations, and referrals to needed resources.
AWG produces results for caregivers: minimizing stress and providing customized solutions; and businesses benefit by lowering employee healthcare costs, reducing absenteeism and boosting productivity.
