Nauvalis Healthcare Solutions has released version 3.0 of its Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), HealthPort. This software streamlines the collection, presentation and retention of enterprise-wide health information by completely automating document capture, management, indexing, retrieving, viewing and distribution. HealthPort also serves as the repository for the healthcare facilities legal medical record.
One of the distinguishing characteristics of this software is its cost relative to alternative applications that offer similar levels of functionality. Given the steadily rising operating costs affecting healthcare providers of all sizes, the ability to acquire such a comprehensive application that will immediately streamline departmental workloads is attractive. This was validated at a recent product demonstration to a group of HIM clerical and clinical staff at which the response to the product was extremely favorable.
Keith Olenik, Senior Vice President of the HealthPort Solutions Group, is buoyed by the marketÂs reaction to the new versionÂs release. ÂThe feedback we have received from potential users has validated our approach to developing HealthPort. The overwhelming consensus is that we have captured the essence of their need and have created a product that enhances their ability to perform their daily functions with particular focus on providing all clinicians with timely access to patient information. We think that Version 3.0 is going to have a significant impact on how the market values EDMS software.Â
HealthPort incorporates the Health Level Seven (HL7) communications protocol into its design. HL7 allows for electronic data exchange in healthcare organizations of clinical, financial and administrative information. Use of an electronic interface is a cost-effective method of transferring information from one system to another. It reduces data entry time, allows for the synchronization of numerous databases so that mismatches are minimized and, because information is accessible faster, a current record is available across the organization.
