Two ActiveStrategy Hospital Clients Receive California "Baldrige" Award for Performance Excellence
ActiveStrategy, Inc. today announced that two of its clients, Feather River Hospital and Children's Hospital of Orange County, are recognized as California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) winners. The California Council for Excellence will present Feather River with a Gold Award and CHOC with a Silver Award at the 15th Annual Conference & Awards Ceremony to be held on Friday, April 17 in Los Angeles.

The California Council for Excellence (CCE), which administers the CAPE Awards, models them after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, a prestigious prize that recognizes U. S. organizations for their achievements in quality and performance.
MaryAnn Pranke, Chair of the CAPE Award stated, "We use the same criteria for evaluating organizations as the national program. The rigorous Baldrige Criteria are recognized internationally as the hallmark for performance excellence and allow us to select award winners to serve as role models for all California organizations." The CCE will present Feather River Hospital with a Gold Award and CHOC with a Silver Award at the 15th Annual Conference & Awards Ceremony to be held on Friday, April 17 in Los Angeles.
Feather River Hospital is the only Gold-level Award recipient this year of all applicants, and is only the second hospital to have achieved this award level in the history of the CCE. Feather River Hospital's previous CAPE awards include a Bronze in 2005 and a Silver in 2006. CHOC was honored last year with a Bronze-level CAPE Award.
Both organizations credit their dedication to quality and best practices, along with the deployment of an automated Balanced Scorecard framework, as reasons for their award wins this year. Beth Rowett, Vice President, Quality at CHOC, explains, "This award signals that we are an example to the community of how to align an organization from top to bottom - ensuring that nothing stands in the way of the high-quality care we provide to children who need it. We are proud to be acknowledged two years in a row by the California Council for Excellence."
Also at the CCE's Annual Conference, which begins on April 15th, ActiveStrategy's Public Sector Practice Director, Christine Heflin, will present on three performance excellence topics. Her presentations include a keynote address on the City of Coral Springs' Baldrige journey (where she was previously an internal consultant), a session on how Baldrige criteria can be applied at non-profits, governments, and mission-based organizations, and a session on how to achieve breakthrough improvement results in a Balanced Scorecard Framework.
