Shopster® Receives Innovation Voucher From the Government of Alberta

Award of $50,000 received to accelerate the development of the Shopster E-Commerce platform

Calgary, AB (PRWEB) March 10, 2010

Shopster, the leading provider of Inventory Management Systems for e-Commerce, announced today that it has been awarded a voucher in the amount of $50,000 from the Government of Alberta from its Alberta Innovation Voucher Pilot Program. The funding is for commercialization of technology – and Shopster will use it to facilitate its integration with third party applications.

This funding will allow Shopster to accelerate its commercialization path. Among the benefits to be gained would be the immediate ability to partner with organizations that provide valuable services and to integrate directly with strategic complementary platforms, setting the stage for accelerated growth of the social network for products.

“Shopster is grateful to have received a voucher from the government of Alberta for the second consecutive year. We believe this is a further indication that we are building something that is innovative, unique and that has strong potential for mass adoption in the near future,” said Sarath Samarasekera, CEO and Founder of Shopster. “The partnerships that will be facilitated as a result of this funding are an important part of Shopster’s strategy to bring together all e-commerce services that our customers need to run a profitable online business.”

The Alberta Innovation Voucher Pilot Program assists small businesses and entrepreneurs at the pre-commercial stage and helps them bring ideas to market faster. Vouchers can be put towards up to 75 per cent of the cost of specialized services from an approved, non-profit service provider such as labs, fabrication centres or intellectual property managers.

Vouchers were awarded to 204 businesses in 33 communities across Alberta in the following sectors: energy (20), health/bio technology (44), industrial technology (16), environment/clean technology (37), information and communications technology (70) and other (17). A list of all companies across Alberta receiving vouchers is available at www. technology. gov. ab. ca.
