The Texas Legislature has passed sweeping reforms to the workers' compensation system that will impact employers, insurance carriers, health care providers and employees. Since the passage of the reform legislature, the Division of Workers' Compensation has promulgated many of the rules to further extrapolate on the reforms and clarify many of the unanswered issues from the reform statute. This teleconference will provide information concerning the recent reforms in Texas workers' compensation law.
David M. Hymer is a founding partner of Hermes Sargent Bates, L. L.P. in Dallas, Texas, where he is a member of the firm’s Tort Litigation Section and heads the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. Mr. Hymer is board certified in Workers' Compensation Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice has been devoted to defending personal injury lawsuits, including premises liability, automobile and transportation accidents, workers’ compensation and employers’ liability. He received his B. A. degree from Texas A&M University and his J. D. degree from Texas Tech University. He is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and the Dallas Association of Defense Counsel. Mr. Hymer is approved faculty for continuing education credit by the Texas Department of Insurance. He is a frequent speaker to employers, attorneys and insurance company representatives concerning claims handling and investigation, insurance law, workers’ compensation, employer liability and other tort litigation topics.
