Boston University's Arion Journal of Humanities and the Classics announced today that Greece's Interamerican Group of companies will be a proud sponsor of first time Marathon runner, and Arion's Development Committee Chairman Stamatis N. Astra, at the historic 2,500 year Athens Classic Marathon on October 31st 2010.
Interamerican expressed enthusiasm in aligning with this epic opportunity to draw attention to the Greek Classics. "It is our duty to promote the Greek Classical spirit all over the world," Mr. Markos Fragoulopoulos, General Manager of Interamerican Group of companies said. "Especially during these difficult times for modern Greece, we draw strength from our classical heritage and Arion is committed to retelling the invaluable lessons of the classics every time it goes to print."
Arion Editor-in-Chief Herb Golder was grateful for the sponsorship by Interamerican. "I am honored that Interamerican has thrown its support behind our campaign, recognizing that the Greek classical heritage is at the root, and still vitally connected, to everything we value in our civilization today," said Golder. "Arion exists to explore those connections. What better occasion is there to commemorate this than the anniversary of the Battle of Marathon! Had it not been for the Greek victory there, that very civilization might have ceased to exist."
