For the second consecutive year, Amarillo attorney Jeremi Young has been singled out as a Rising Star by Texas Monthly magazine. Rising Stars are chosen from nominations made by lawyers throughout Texas.
Mr. Young recently returned home to the panhandle to open the Amarillo office of Rasansky & Young, P. C. He concentrates his practice on representing individuals in catastrophic personal injury cases, complex business litigation, employment litigation, and wage-and-hour claims.
“We’re extremely proud to see Jeremi receive this honor two years in a row,” says Jeff Rasansky, founder of the affiliate firm, The Rasansky Law Firm in Dallas. “His legal abilities are well-known in the legal community, and we are happy to see other lawyers recognizing his good work on behalf of clients.”
Mr. Young represents clients in a variety of matters – from those who feel they’ve suffered at the hands of corporations, to patients who have been harmed by careless doctors and nurses. Recently, he received national media attention following a favorable ruling from the Wisconsin Supreme Court in a case involving an 11-year-old boy with cerebral palsy. In the decision, the Wisconsin high court ruled that there is no statute of limitations for claims against health care providers in cases involving developmentally disabled children.
As an advocate for workers, Mr. Young has helped many employees who have been improperly denied overtime pay. His success in employment lawsuits includes cases involving unpaid overtime, “off the clock” work requirements, and missed meal and rest breaks.
In 1999, the law firm of Silber Pearlman, LLP, of Dallas recruited Mr. Young to handle cases involving personal injury claims. The following year, Mr. Young joined The Rasansky Law Firm. In June of 2005, he opened the office of Rasansky & Young, P. C. in Amarillo.
A panhandle native, Mr. Young graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock before earning his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin.
Rising Stars are the top up-and-coming Texas attorneys who are 40 or younger or have been in practice fewer than 10 years.
This year’s Rising Stars are being honored in the March issue of Texas Monthly. They are profiled in the current issue of Texas Rising Stars, a publication co-produced by the publishers of Texas Monthly and Law & Politics Media, Inc.
