Kidneys Fail and Moon Brightens for Rising Writer in March

Kidneys Fail and Moon Brightens for Rising Writer in March

Author Christopher Meeks finds two different and major projects coming together in the same week in March. His novel "The Brightest Moon of the Century" will be published March 7, and five days later, his play "Who Lives?" opens across town in a new and impressive production.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2009

"Just as planets sometimes align," says author Christopher Meeks, "sometimes two very different projects blossom in the same week by coincidence. This wasn't planned."

He's referring to his stage drama and comic novel coming together the same week next month. On March 7th, his novel "The Brightest Moon of the Century" will be published, highlighted with a 5 p. m. publication party at Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena. Five days later on March 12th, across town in West Los Angeles, his historical play Who Lives? opens at 8 p. m. in a new production at the Pico Playhouse.

The two projects have quite different tones and subjects, but share what book reviewer Marc Schuster has described as "the work of an expert storyteller." "Who Lives?" focuses on the first practical kidney dialysis machine in the sixties and the citizen committee that chose only a handful of people who might be saved. It was the first clinical test of this new invention. What makes a person valuable? Who gets to live? Hospitals and health programs still ask these questions today when services and money are limited.

Meeks's first novel, "The Brightest Moon of the Century," is the story of Edward, a young Minnesotan, blessed with an abundance of "experience"--first when his mother dies and next when his father, an encyclopedia salesman, shoehorns Edward into a private boys school where he's tortured and groomed. Edward needs a place in the universe, but he also wants an understanding of women. In nine chapters, the reader experiences Edward's life from ages 14 to 45.

The novel and play production follow Meeks's highly acclaimed collections of short stories, "The Middle-Aged Man and the Sea" and "Months and Seasons." The two collections and the published version of the play won Noble (not Nobel) Awards from reviewer Carolyn Howard-Johnson, and the first book also appeared in Entertainment Weekly.

Top-Ten Amazon. com reviewer Grady Harp, in his long, thoughtful review on the new novel writes, "Christopher Meeks has produced up to now two of the finest, most intelligent, entertaining, and socially sensitive collections of short stories. For those of us who have become Meeks devotees based on these short stories, the anticipation of a full-length novel has been both exciting and a bit dubious. It is an entirely different challenge to carry a character and a few ideas, well developed as they are in Meeks's hands, along a path that justifies a complete novel. But with THE BRIGHTEST MOON OF THE CENTURY, Christopher Meeks has crossed that bridge so successfully that his stance in the echelon of new important American writers seems solidly secure."

"Who Lives?" was first produced at the 24th Street Theatre in Los Angeles in 1997, receiving many positive reviews including a Pick of the Week from the L. A. Weekly. Critic Madeline Shaner wrote in another review, "The play works on a highly dramatic level, engaging the intellect and the emotions in equally demanding proportions, so rare in today's theatre, but a combination devoutly to be wished."

Meeks explains how the novel's publication and the play's production came to be in the same week. "Publication dates for books are selected months in advance. I knew in September that 'Brightest Moon' would come out on March 7th. Then two months later, I learned the Renal Support Network wanted to take my play across the country, starting with a production in Los Angeles. The producer wanted to open it on National Kidney Day, March 12th."

Thus, as interest in both projects mount, Meeks crosses his fingers and knocks on wood, actions that his friend, Reverend James Juul of the Church of Good Luck, a new ministry based on good luck, says can't hurt.

Local Swimmer Proves to be a True Master

Local Swimmer Proves to be a True Master

World records were falling in droves at the Long Course Regional and Zone Masters Swim Championships in Thousand Oaks, California last weekend, and local swimmer Michael Mann was personally responsible for a healthy chunk of the new records.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 6, 2009

World records were falling in droves at the Long Course Regional and Zone Masters Swim Championships in Thousand Oaks, California last weekend, and local swimmer Michael Mann was personally responsible for a healthy chunk of the new records. Swimming in the 55-59 age group, Mann, a Littleton local and the founder and owner of the innovative swim instruction (http://swimlabs. com/update/swim_video. php) facility SwimLabs, set new world records in the 800 freestyle (9:00.09), the 400 free ( 4:22.49), the 200 IM (2:21.93), the 400 IM ( (5:04.07) and the 200 free (2:04.01). In the 100 freestyle, Mann settled for a new national record (57:08), just one short second off the new world record set the week before by Jack Groselle. Five world records and one national one: not a bad day in the pool.

Not surprisingly thrilled with his performance, Mann credits his new training regime, which focuses on both perfecting stroke technique and the quality as opposed to quantity of training. "Technique," according to Mann, "is the one easy place to make a huge difference in swimming efficiency. It's what SwimLabs is all about and it's great to see that it works well for me too." Mann uses the same formula for improving his own technique as he does with his many SwimLabs clients - videotaping his strokes and then examining them closely and comparing them to swimmers who demonstrate perfect stroke technique. "By identifying minor flaws in my own strokes, I can correct them and improve my times. It definitely works," said Mann. In light of Mann's recent performance, there is little room to argue that point.

Mann, who grew up in Littleton, has been swimming his entire adult life. Rather than lamenting his deteriorating performance as he aged, he instead looked for ways to continue to compete at the top level, maintaining and even improving his times. From that desire, the notion for SwimLabs was born. It gave Mann an outlet for his obvious passion for swimming and helping other swimmers, as well as a way to continue to hone his own skills in the pool. "The beauty of it is," explained Mann, "that not only am I swimming faster than ever, but by swimming better I am also avoiding the dreaded injury bug that gets so many athletes in their forties and fifties." Mann apparently has no plans for slowing down, and is already looking forward to his next big meet.

SwimLabs, an innovative swim instruction facility in Highlands Ranch was founded in 2004 by Mann and his partner Giff Cutler, another longtime Colorado athlete. For more information about SwimLabs, visit www. swimlabs. com or call 303.798.SWIM (7946).

WEBPRO International Awarded to Homeland Security Project for the USDA

WEBPRO International Awarded to Homeland Security Project for the USDA

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Ann M. Veneman announced the release of an informational compact disc (CD) for federal and state agriculture first responders to intentional and unintentional introductions of animal diseases into the nationÂ’s food production pathway.

(PRWEB) April 21, 2005

The CD, "Food Security: The Threat to American Livestock," was developed with USDAÂ’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) in conjunction with RTI International, Auburn University's OIT-Media Production Group, and WEBPRO International. This CD is part of an extensive program to enhance the United StatesÂ’ readiness to detect, deter, and respond to terrorist events involving plant or animal pathogens. State and federal officials who have a role to fulfill in the event of an intentional or unintentional threat to U. S. livestock will also have access to this data bank.

"This new tool provides federal, state, and private veterinarians immediate access to resources and relevant information to help them more effectively identify, respond to, control, and facilitate recovery from a foreign animal disease outbreak," Veneman said.

WEBPRO International was carefully selected from over 500 IT and web development firms throughout the southeast.

WEBPRO was contracted by Research Triangle Institute of Raleigh North Carolina to create a web-based secure CD for Homeland Security. This is a phase 1 project that concerns bio-terrorism in the cattle industry for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Animal and Plant Health inspection Service (APHIS) is responsible for protecting and promoting U. S. agricultural health, administering the Animal Welfare Act, and carrying out wildlife damage management activities.

The APHIS mission is an integral part of U. S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) efforts to provide the Nation with safe and affordable food.

The collection of information started 2 years prior to WEBPRO'S involvement. After the USDA defined the categories, WEBPRO then designed a special web-based CD in a 4 week time period.

WEBPRO wishes to thank and acknowledge the following key players that brought this project to fruition.

Food, fast food, spicy food, Mexican food, Chinese food and Italian food have never been easier using the new Top 30 Food Sites named today by TheRatingsGuy. com. Searching for food on the Internet is more popular than searching for: Yahoo, Travel, News, YouTube, Shopping, Health, Sports or Real Estate!

Belfast, ME (PRWEB) May 30, 2007

The Ratings Guy names new award-winning food websites which are found at www. TheRatingsGuy. com. Food lovers have a whole new resource for finding great websites and uncovering some of the best and most unique food suppliers, all with home delivery. The Ratings Guy hunted through thousands of website offerings and selected only the best that meet the grade for Quality, Trust and Experience.

Some of our favorites include:

E4B. com - Fruit purées
JustTomatoes. com - Great veggie snacks
GreatPecans. com - Sumptuous pecan pie
Leonidas-Chocolate. com - Belgian Chocolate
PocoDolce. com - Chocolate topped with sea salt
ReluctantGourmet. com - Culinary Guide
…and 25 more great food sites found at www. TheRatingsGuy. com

The Ratings Guy has recognized websites in order to help consumers find the great sites sooner. Personal experience with the websites, and in most cases with their products and service levels help consumers find superior, safe and reliable businesses that meet or exceed high standards. A Yahoo search revealed over 940 million results for the food category making it more difficult than ever before to find great sources on the Web.

"Food is one of the most popular search terms showing a new hunger for information about the most basic of nourishment said John Morrow, co-founder of The Ratings Guy. "Fast food and spicy food lead the category, but the regional Mexican, Chinese and Italian foods top the variety chart and reveal overall preferences, added Morrow. "These Great Sites are all on the Web, and they would be invisible without us", he said. "Our Great Site recognition helps consumers to find the great sites sooner" he added.

The new list, Top Food Websites is part of The Ratings Guy initiative to help consumers find the great sites sooner. Access to the entire Top 30 listing of Great Site reviews and product offerings free at www. theratingsguy. com.

The Ratings Guy was developed by a team, experienced in the consumer research and ratings field and frustrated with the search industry's inability to separate advertising from editorial. The company reviews and rates websites across an array of popular consumer lifestyle categories including: health, travel, house & home, pets, gourmet food, kids, shopping, and more. The Ratings Guy is an independent and objective resource, supported by research librarians and researchers (the original search engines) who seek to identify the very best Web resources. The company uses a proprietary review methodology to test sites against its own benchmarks for transparency, accuracy, timeliness, functionality, trust, and usefulness. The Ratings Guy hosts the Great Site Benchmarking Network, an exclusive group of Internet thought-leaders working to advance consumer empowerment on the Web. Softshare Announces Full Commitment to HIPAA

Softshare Announces Full Commitment to HIPAA

Newly released suite of HIPAA transaction models for Softshare Delta represents SoftshareÂ’s first step towards enabling HIPAA compliance for all tiers of the health care community.

(PRWEB) January 4, 2002

SANTA BARBARA, CA. – December 31, 2001 – Softshare Inc., a leading provider of e-commerce products and services, today announced the release of a HIPAA compliant mapping suite for its popular data translation tool, Softshare Delta. The electronic data interchange (EDI) transaction models in this suite incorporate the implementation guidelines mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.

HIPAA legislation was enacted by the federal government to make health insurance more affordable and accessible, in part by streamlining administrative functions such as claims processing and billing procedures. HIPAA requires that health care providers, insurers, and other organizations that electronically exchange insurance - or patient-related data use standardized EDI formats rather than the proprietary or customized formats used currently. Under the new laws, most entities must be HIPAA compliant no later than October 16, 2002 or face severe penalties.

Using the HIPAA mapping suite provided by Softshare Delta, health organizations can comply with these regulations by converting health care documents such as insurance claims into the standardized, ANSI X12 formats required by HIPAA. Furthermore, organizations that receive HIPAA transactions can use Softshare Delta to convert those transactions into the formats already used by their internal processing systems for instant integration into their existing operations.

“The release of the HIPAA-compliant mapping suite for Softshare Delta represents a boon to the health care industry and a significant milestone in Softshare’s ongoing commitment to HIPAA,” said Keith Severson, Softshare Sales Executive and HIPAA Project Manager. “In the future, Softshare will closely monitor all new developments in HIPAA legislation and continue to make cost-effective, easy-to-implement HIPAA solutions available to all tiers of the health care community.”

Nutrition Program Added to RMA of Connecticut’s Comprehensive Fertility Care

Nutrition Program Added to RMA of Connecticut’s Comprehensive Fertility Care

Carolyn Gundell, M. S., to Run RMACT Nutrition Program and Start PCOS Clinic

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) January 5, 2010

Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) fertility clinic and egg donation center is providing nutritional support and resources for patients as part of their comprehensive approach to fertility treatment. To kick off this focus on nutrition, RMACT has hired Carolyn Gundell, M. S., to lead its nutrition program, as well as to open its Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Clinic.

With over 20 years of experience, Gundell will help RMACT patients understand the link between dietary choices, weight and fertility. For some patients, this means helping them incorporate the necessary nutrients for a woman’s body to conceive. For others, she will address ongoing battles with endocrine disorders such as insulin resistance, Diabetes Type1/Type 2 and PCOS (http://www. rmact. com/education-polycystic-ovarian-syndrome. htm), by offering nutritional insight and strategies that often help to improve symptoms associated with these conditions.

RMACT’s PCOS Clinic is one of a handful of options for patients in Connecticut to learn how to manage this condition. At the clinic, Gundell will help patients take control of this frustrating metabolic condition, which causes hormonal imbalances, preventing women from ovulating and leading to infertility. It is a common condition, affecting 5 - 10% of women of reproductive age, and is best managed through lifestyle changes such as improved quality of sleep, activity, and healthy, balanced & structured meals.

“My passion is working with patients to understand how their bodies work,” says Gundell. “Many consumers are misinformed about health and nutrition from misleading information which often promises quick and unsafe results verses reinforcing life-long healthy behavior change.”

Beyond individual patient care, RMACT is sponsoring interactive nutrition seminars at their main office in Norwalk, CT. The seminars, which encourage open discussion and are open to the public, will be lead by Gundell and Monica Moore, MSN, RNC, a Nurse Practitioner and RMACT’s Nurse Manager. Through real-life scenarios, participants will learn how to improve their nutrition and health. To date, two seminars are scheduled; to RSVP, call 203-750-7492:

“Take Shape for Life (http://fertility-news. rmact. com/fertility-news/bid/24216/Take-Shape-For-Life-Program-Learn-More-at-FREE-SEMINAR-January-12th-2009)”
RMACT has partnered with “Take Shape for Life”, a weight loss program designed by Dr. Wayne S. Andersen, a board-certified critical care physician.
Location:  RMACT Office at 10 Glover Avenue, Norwalk, CT
Date/Time: Tuesday, January 12; 6:30 PM

“Your Toolbox for Success (http://fertility-news. rmact. com/fertility-news/bid/24645/Tips-for-Healthy-New-Year-Fertility-Health-Info-Nutrition-Yoga)”
Based on RMACT’s comprehensive approach, this half-day seminar includes sessions on yoga, visualization and nutrition.
Location:  RMACT Office at 10 Glover Avenue, Norwalk, CT
Date/Time: Saturday, January 16; 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

RMACT’s nutrition program is the latest arm of its comprehensive fertility care. In addition to advanced fertility diagnosis and treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in-vitro fertilization (IVF), other RMACT services offered include yoga classes, marriage and individual counseling, acupuncture and financial payment plans. The purpose is to provide resources and care that address all patients’ needs, including stress reduction, to reach the ultimate goal – full-term pregnancy.

“We are thrilled to have Carolyn as part of our team,” says Dr. Mark Leondires, Medical Director at RMACT. “Carolyn brings to RMACT important knowledge and a great sensibility of how to work with patients. Since our approach to fertility treatment involves the whole body and mind, nutrition is an important factor.”

Gundell earned her M. S. in Nutrition from Columbia University and completed her undergraduate studies in Biology/Nutrition at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT. She is trained as a Research Associate in Clinical Skills Training, and is certified in HIPAA, CPR, First Aid and Food Safety & Sanitation.

Carolyn also works as a Nutritionist at Pediatric Endocrine & Diabetes Specialists and The Center for Advanced Pediatrics—both in Norwalk and formerly at Yale University Obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, PCOS, and Fertility Clinics.

September 17, 2010 Bay-Friendly Landscape Conference to Feature Practical Ways of Making Bay Area Landscapes Cleaner, Greener, and More Affordable

September 17, 2010 Bay-Friendly Landscape Conference to Feature Practical Ways of Making Bay Area Landscapes Cleaner, Greener, and More Affordable

The Bay-Friendly Landscape Conference will be held September 17, 2010 from 8:00am to 5:00pm at St. Mary’s Event Center in San Francisco which is BART accessible. Information and registration for the tour and conference is available at http://www. bayfriendlycoalition. org/2010Conference. shtml.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 18, 2010

An ice island more than four times the size of Manhattan is currently drifting across the Arctic Ocean after breaking off from a glacier in Greenland. The glacier has the potential to crash into oil platforms, cross shipping lanes, and cause havoc on the high seas. Incidents such as this, related to global warming and the water resources we rely on, often seem overwhelming and far beyond the reach of any individual to solve.

However, the 2010 Bay-Friendly Landscape Conference, titled “Transforming Urban Landscapes to Protect Our Water Resources,” will offer practical, cutting edge solutions for lessening the impact of landscape practices on the environment—highlighting how individual and local actions can add up to a having global impacts on a range of environmental challenges through significant reductions of water, waste and energy use.

The Bay-Friendly Landscaping and Gardening Coalition is hosting this year's premier sustainable landscaping conference in San Francisco. Designed for professionals, local governments, and urban gardening enthusiasts, the event provides information and tools for creating attractive, healthy, and water-efficient landscapes. A pre-conference tour of Bay-Friendly Landscapes in Alameda County will highlight successful environmentally friendly landscapes, and the conference will feature interactive presentations by leading landscape professionals, networking, and a marketplace of technologies and products designed to reduce negative impacts on landscapes and watersheds that Bay area residents rely on.

Featured speakers include Brad Lancaster, Bob Perry, and Pam Pierce, all renowned authors and experts in sustainable landscaping and water conservation practices. A diverse range of experts will present on topics including use of stormwater and greywater, designing water and energy efficient landscapes, and techniques for integrated pest management.

The pre-conference tour of Bay-Friendly Landscapes rated for their sustainable practices will occur September 16, 2010, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, and commences at the StopWaste. Org headquarters in downtown Oakland.

The Bay-Friendly Landscape Conference will be held September 17, 2010 from 8:00am to 5:00pm at St. Mary’s Event Center in San Francisco which is BART accessible. Information and registration for the tour and conference is available at http://www. bayfriendlycoalition. org/2010Conference. shtml (http://www. bayfriendlycoalition. org/2010Conference. shtml).

The nine county San Francisco Bay Area contains over 200 municipalities and approximately 6.7 million people. While the Bay Area is known as a haven for environmental activism, population growth and urban development are steadily degrading the green landscape, with negative implications for water quality, the economy, and human health and safety. Bay-Friendly sustainable landscaping methods reduce waste and pollution by utilizing a variety of standards and practices that have measureable positive impacts on environmental issues prevalent in the Bay area. These practices are used in every phase of landscaping, including design, construction, implementation and management of residential and commercial landscapes.

The Bay Friendly Guidelines were originally developed by StopWaste. Org in 2001. The Bay-Friendly Landscaping & Gardening Coalition began in 2006 and was incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization in 2009, and its members include 41 organizations, government agencies, and businesses.

The Quiet Forgotten: Providing Scholarships, Mentors, and Hope to Children of Incarcerated Parents

The Quiet Forgotten: Providing Scholarships, Mentors, and Hope to Children of Incarcerated Parents

Governor Jeb Bush hosted a luncheon on Thursday, August 7th to thank business and community partners for supporting the Governor's Mentoring Initiative and Take Stock in Children's Children of Prisoners: Children of Promise project. Seventy children of incarcerated parents will be selected to receive four-year tuition scholarships and adult mentors through the Take Stock in Children program. Take Stock in Children is the premier mentoring and scholarship program in the state of Florida.

(PRWEB) August 11, 2003

TALLAHASSEE, FL (PRWEB) August 7, 2003 – Take Stock in Children, Florida’s premier college scholarship and mentoring program, has partnered with the Governor’s Mentoring Initiative, the Florida Department of Corrections, and Prison Fellowship Ministries to provide scholarships, mentors, and hope to children of incarcerated parents. Florida’s Children of Prisoners: Children of Promise project seeks to break the cycle of violence, poverty, and academic failure that afflicts children when a parent goes to prison.

On Thursday, August 7, Governor Jeb Bush hosted a luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion in appreciation of those who have recognized the vast potential of the Children of Prisoners: Children of Promise project. Governor Bush stated, “It’s an honor to host such a fine group of individuals and corporate executives that truly want to help Florida’s most vulnerable children obtain academic and personal success.”

Project partners thanked the sponsors of the initiative, including executives of ARAMARK Correctional Services, Wexford Health Services, PRIDE Enterprises, Prison Health Services, Bridges of America, Veridian Corporation, Pro-Tech Monitoring, and The Windsor Group.

The Children of Prisoners: Children of Promise project asked prisoners at two state facilities to recommend their middle and high school-aged children for admission to the Take Stock in Children program. Children must meet financial, academic, and behavioral requirements to be considered for scholarships. Take Stock in Children will select 70 students who meet the eligibility criteria and provide them with the scholarships, mentors, and hope that characterize the mission of Take Stock in Children.

With the help and support of caring adults and the promise of a college scholarship, children who once were the quiet forgotten will begin to realize unimagined successes. The historic partnership between Take Stock in Children, the GovernorÂ’s Mentoring Initiative, the Florida Department of Corrections, and Prison Fellowship Ministries gives children of incarcerated parents hope for a better future.

Since 1995, Take Stock in Children has impacted the lives of more than 7,000 students in the state of Florida. Students admitted to the program experience dramatic improvements in their academic attitudes and develop meaningful relationships with adult mentors. Within six months of high school graduation, 80% of Take Stock in Children students are enrolled in college, compared to 56% of all Florida high school graduates. A recent survey found that 97% of Take Stock in Children mentors feel they have positively influenced the lives of their students, and 93% of students surveyed wish to continue meeting with their mentors.

The Complementary Cancer Care: Your Healing Plan™ CD-ROM provides cancer patients with an educational decision aid for integrating evidence-based complementary care with their conventional treatment through goal setting and development of a personalized healing plan that can be adjusted over time depending on changing goals and disease status.

Washington, D. C. (PRWEB) January 24, 2007

Eighty-three percent of cancer patients use complementary therapies to manage symptoms of cancer and side effects of conventional treatment. Indeed "Ideal" cancer care may integrate evidence-based complementary therapies with conventional care, but, for now, the burden of exploring options, weighing efficacy versus risks, and coordinating care between providers falls upon the patient.

About Complementary Cancer Care: Your Healing Plan™:

Complementary Cancer Care: Your Healing Plan™ CD-ROM serves as an interactive guide to evidence-based complementary therapy selection throughout a cancer journey. Users select a stage of the cancer journey such as receiving chemotherapy and their own quality-of-life goals for that stage. The program guides them to therapies that have been selected based on evidence of effectiveness. The product contains information about the therapy, what can be expected, who practices the therapy and what is involved. There is also a section that highlights peer-reviewed evidence specific to the therapy and cancer. The CD-ROM is narrated with supporting graphics to make the information accessible to users with a range of education levels

About the evaluation of Complementary Cancer Care: Your Healing Plan

HealthMark Multimedia is currently recruiting cancer patients who live in the Washington DC metropolitan area to test a recently published CD-ROM Complementary Cancer Care: Your Healing Plan®. Evaluation participants must have a Windows-based computer and be fluent in English. They will be asked to use the CD-ROM for 4 weeks and then to be interviewed about how they used the program to integrate complementary therapies into their daily life.

This evaluation is designed to help HealthMark understand how cancer patients at any stage in their journey can make use of evidence-based complementary therapies for symptom and side effect relief. The evaluation will also inform program information and design for the presentation of evidence-based complementary therapies to cancer patients. Participants will meet with research staff at HealthMark Multimedia Washington DC offices and then receive the Complementary Cancer Care: Your Healing Plan® CD-ROM for use over the next month. For more information about the evaluation and criteria for participation, please call: Marguerite Beckley as (202) 448-6158.

Terrorist Attacks Cause More Damage Than Estimates Show

Terrorist Attacks Cause More Damage Than Estimates Show

Discussion about the psychological effects of terrorism on people, considering the losses due to terrorist related mental health issues and how to deal with it.

(PRWEB) July 16, 2005

Acts of terrorism are random, senseless violence with the goal of creating a state of panic and fear in a country or region. Continual fear and anxiety over future attacks can bring stress levels to the breaking point. According to Jake Robertson, a spokesman for http://www. PharmacyDoctor. net (http://www. PharmacyDoctor. net), this has affected people in many ways, depression spreads, and increasing sales of anti-depressives. The anxiety caused by terrorist attacks also affects menÂ’s impotence, which may explain the increase in Viagra and Cialis sales too. Not only are UK citizens feeling more anxious, but also Americans and other nationalities as the threat to one country represents a possible threat to many. Millions of dollars have been lost due to work absentees related to terrorist mental health issues.

A very important part to take into consideration when dealing with the fears and anxieties of a possible terrorist attack is to talk about our feelings. This is especially important with males, who many times feel revealing their feelings to others is a sign of weakness and should be avoided at all costs. This myth has to be broken, as expressing oneÂ’s self is a very important part of releasing stress. If you feel uncomfortable speaking to people face to face, you can always visit a support group on the internet. The anonymity this provides can be a bid plus to many.

Talking about your feeling is only part of a bigger step, which is getting in touch with them. We must learn to maintain our normal schedules, as we must fight on, without guilt, without obsessing over the unchangeable, without forgetting our kids, as they will be the ones that have the hardest time understanding such unspeakable acts. We also must avoid hating people we donÂ’t know, not all Muslims are evil, bent on mayhem terrorists, and there are plenty of them who live lives very similar to yours and mine.

We have entered a new age in warfare, and the battle ground is right in our own backyard. This is obviously going to cause many stresses, but we must push on, as a unit, as a mass that stands up for our rights. The strongest governments in the world are making the fight on terrorism their number one goal, and we must find some type of comfort in this, resources are being directed to protect our rights as citizens more then ever.

Healthcare’s Supply Monopoly Meets Circuit Court in Independence Missouri

Independence, MO (PRWEB) June 7, 2006

A Missouri circuit court in Independence, Missouri refused to dismiss General Electric (GE) from a lawsuit seeking $450 million in damages over a repudiated contract with Medical Supply Chain, Inc. in June 2003. The ruling in Lipari v. General Electric, et al, Jackson County Missouri at Independence Case No. 0616-cv07421 was released on May 31, 2006.

Samuel Lipari, president of Medical Supply Chain, has alleged that GE broke a contract that provided capitalization for Medical Supply Chain’s entry into the $1.3 Trillion dollar hospital supply market. The contract involved the purchase of an office center and the buyout of a ten year lease left over from GE’s Transportation Division’s buyout of former Blue Springs, MO based Harmon Industries. The contract provided physical assets and operating capital needed by Medical Supply Chain after US Bancorp Piper Jaffray repudiated a similar agreement through the false pretext of the USA Patriot Act that involved escrow accounts for investor deposits. Mr. Lipari alleges that the contract was breached when GE’s healthcare product divisions discovered Medical Supply Chain was the web based electronic marketplace that GE’s CEO Jeffrey Immelt feared would bypass the industry’s monopolized distribution and pricing system.

In 2001, a US Bancorp Piper Jaffray study showed a web based electronic marketplace would reduce prices paid by hospitals by over $23 billion dollars annually. Under former CEO Jack Welch’s direction, GE created an electronic marketplace to counteract this competitive threat. Mr. Immelt has furthered GE’s control over hospital supplies by founding and participating in the GHX (Global Healthcare Exchange) cartel. On March 6, 2006 GE Capital financed GHX’s purchase of the highly controversial and publicly traded electronic marketplace Neoforma, exposed in the FW Weekly article “Hijacking at the Hospital” leaving Medical Supply Chain as the only web based marketplace for hospital supplies outside of the cartel.

The litigation over the obstruction of Medical Supply Chain’s entry into the market has been conducted in both Kansas and Western District of Missouri federal courts and in two Tenth Circuit Court appeals. The federal antitrust claims are presently in Kansas District Court at Kansas City, Kansas. The dispute over the contract between GE and Medical Supply Chain, Inc. was moved to the Circuit Court in Jackson County Missouri at Independence.

Upon learning he had prevailed over GE’s attempted dismissal, Samuel Lipari said “Harry Truman stood up against threats to our nation’s people and now finally we will be able to present evidence of what GE has done to prevent competition from making healthcare affordable for all Americans.” Samuel Lipari and Medical Supply Chain will continue to fight against artificially inflated healthcare supply costs that continue to threaten the viability of the Medicare and Medicaid programs, force employers to ship jobs overseas and weaken pension funds.

Is Hanna Montana Making your Child Sick? - From Lead in Toys to Pharmaceuticals in Drinking Water, what is the Environmental Impact on our Children?

Portland, Maine (PRWEB) April 23, 2008

With all the discussion regarding Autism, the role the environment plays has largely been ignored. In a recent poll conducted by Integrative Practitioner, over 70% of respondents said that changes in the environment are responsible for the epidemic rise in Autism.

The recent toy recalls, including the popular Hanna Montana line of toys and cosmetics marketed for children, have been shown to contain high degrees of lead, which studies have shown to affect brain development, which can lead to Autism.

Other environmental factors - from drinking water to plastic toys to playground material - are under scrutiny for containing material that can be harmful to kids.

"Children have no voice," said Dr. Lawrence D. Rosen, a board-certified general pediatrician and a nationally recognized expert in Pediatric Integrative Medicine. "It's horrific we are destroying our children, when we can see evidence that our environment is impacting their health, from the toys they play with to the air they breath."

Dr. Rosen is a member of the Integrative Practitioner (http://www. integrativepractitioner. com) Advisory Board and part of the on-line peer-to-peer discussion regarding children's health and the environment.

9th International Symposium on Circumcision, Genital Integrity, and Human Rights -- Circumcision and HIV/AIDS: Preventative or Panacea?

9th International Symposium on Circumcision, Genital Integrity, and Human Rights -- Circumcision and HIV/AIDS: Preventative or Panacea?

Thursday, Aug. 24th through Saturday, Aug 26th, at the University of Washington, Seattle. Presenters from around the world will present research and discuss advancements on the subjects of female genital mutilations, male infant circumcision, and HIV/AIDS.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 21, 2006

The Ninth International Symposium on Circumcision, Genital Integrity, and Human Rights will convene Thursday, Aug. 24th through Saturday, Aug 26th, at the University of Washington, Seattle. Presenters from around the world will present research and discuss advancements on the subjects of female genital mutilations and male infant circumcision.

Every year, around the world, 13.3 million boys and 2 million girls have part or all of their external sex organs cut off. These mutilations are rarely regarded or acknowledged as such in the societies where they are performed. Some are mistakenly performing circumcision on themselves or forcibly on others in order to provide protection against the AIDS virus, HIV.

Even in developed nations, the proponents of male and female sexual mutilation defend these mutilations with dubious scientific studies and manipulated statistics and by appeals to custom and tradition. This is especially true with the recent studies promoting circumcision as an HIV/AIDS prophylactic. Doctors, parents, and politicians have been misled into believing these forced genital cuttings are beneficial, necessary, and harmless.

Internationally respected experts in the fields of medicine, science, politics, law, ethics, sociology, anthropology, history, and religion will present the latest research, documentation, and analysis of this worldwide problem.

Upon completion of the symposium, participants will understand the:

delusional psychologies of circumcision and civilization; ethical, political, and legal aspects of genital mutilations; consequences of female genital modifications on global health and sexuality, including using male circumcision as an HIV/AIDS preventative; worldwide efforts to eradicate harmful traditional practices; importance of defining what is sacred; process for resolving circumcision trauma.

The symposium is a project of the National Organization of Circumcision Information Resource Centers (NOCIRC), San Anselmo, California, in cooperation with Doctors Opposing Circumcision (DOC), Seattle, Washington. Other symposiums have been held in Padua, Italy; Sydney, Australia; Oxford, England; and Washington, DC.

Good News: What's Hot for Today's Teen Traveler Is Helping Others

Good News: What's Hot for Today's Teen Traveler Is Helping Others

An analysis of 6,000 applications for Family Travel Forum's 2008 Teen Travel Writing Scholarship reveals that at least 51% of American teens have traveled outside the U. S. by their 18th birthday, and that 15% more of these young travelers were involved in service projects compared with 2007 results.

New York (Vocus) December 3, 2008

Results of the teen scholarship sponsored by Family Travel Forum (FTF) (http://www. familytravelforum. com), the award-winning family vacation media company, reveal that more than 10% of US teens who applied for the second annual scholarship traveled with the sole purpose of helping others. Verifying the rising trend, FTF found that the 32% of scholarship applicants who wrote about escorted cultural and teen tours also participated in at least one day of community service at their destination.

"The 15% increase in teen voluntourism seen since last year may be due to a heightened awareness of our interconnected world, from the environment to Darfur to President-elect Obama's campaign for change," says FTF editor Kyle McCarthy. The students' own words suggest that community service provides much more than padding resumes for college applications. Of the 10% of teens who vacationed in the Caribbean and Mexico with their families, most wrote about their positive interaction with the local community, rather than beach time or reggae lessons. Compelling stories of teen service ranged from comforting AIDS babies at a mission hospital in Mali to house building in the Lower Ninth Ward, in settings as varied as a Mumbai mall under terrorist attack, a cruise ship, and a Chinese home stay with a hostess whose English name was Harry Potter.

Despite the weakness in the U. S. dollar that affected leisure travel overall, 51.4% of the 2008 applicants traveled outside North America, up more than 8% since 2007. Regions benefiting from the largest year-over-year change were Europe (20.8% vs. 17%), Asia (10% vs. 6%), and Central and South America (6% up from 4% last year.) And while the sacrifice of relatives who funded these trips was a recurring theme in the essays submitted, in fact more than 63% of the trips were with family (9% more than in 2007), proving that the educational and bonding aspects of vacationing together remain a priority for parents, even in recessionary times.

FTF's scholarship attracts a young demographic that's valued for their spending power: applicants between 13 and 18 years of age; attending American public, private or home schools; U. S. Department of Defense schools; or International-American programs. According to the 2008 Youth Travel Matters study done by the UNWTO, 20% of all international arrivals are young independent travelers whose travel expenditures have risen 40% since 2002. FTF's site for those who dream of travel Before I Get Old, travelBIGO. com (http://www. travelBIGO. com), hosts the company's annual teen scholarships and monthly awards for most popular travel journals contributed by travelers of any age. Technological Improvements Spur Growth in the European Cardiovascular Monitoring Market

Technological Improvements Spur Growth in the European Cardiovascular Monitoring Market

World Cardiovascular Monitoring Equipment Markets - Market Research from Frost & Sullivan

(PRWEB) February 29, 2004

Europe trails the United States and Japan as the third largest regional market for cardiovascular monitoring equipment. In 2003, it generated revenues worth $111.9 million. Driven by technological advances and product replacements, the European market is poised to expand to $133.1 million in 2009.

Similar to the United States, the cardiovascular monitoring market in Europe is well established. Growth is expected to be sustained by technological enhancements that promote greater user friendliness, improved networking and communication capabilities of the equipment and offer greater cost-efficiencies.

Today, data integration capabilities are a critical aspect of cardiovascular monitoring systems. Latest advances include universal standards or XML-based storage and export capabilities. At the same time, innovative products are leveraging the potential of PC-based devices to provide multiple modalities and ECG data management competencies.

"These technological upgrades are welcomed by customers such as hospitals, facing increased nursing and resource-related constraints. They also help to fuel demand in a market with increased price sensitivity and longer replacement cycles," notes Healthcare Analyst Seemeen Mirza from Frost & Sullivan (http://medicaldevices. frost. com (http://medicaldevices. frost. com)).

As the European population ages, there is likely to be a corresponding growth in ECG usage. The financial burden imposed by increased ECG procedures is expected to highlight the need for cost-effective cardiovascular monitoring solutions. As a key user of home healthcare systems, Europe's ageing population is also anticipated to stimulate demand for ambulatory ECG monitoring devices.

Cost containment pressures are underlining the trend towards outpatient facilities where costs are typically lower compared to hospital-based healthcare services. In turn, sales of middle tier or clinic-type ECG systems are rising. This trend is being reinforced by the heightened price sensitivity and relatively greater saturation of the hospital market. Growth opportunities are therefore shifting from large hospitals to clinics.

Such positive trends notwithstanding, the global economic downturn has shrunk investments in medical devices while constraining healthcare expenditures.

"The cost-containment pressures have been felt by end users in hospitals and clinics alike. This is particularly true in the case of sophisticated high-tech equipment," remarks Ms. Mirza.

"End users have prolonged the period of replacement for majority of the expensive medical devices, including cardiovascular monitoring equipment. There is increased price sensitivity in the market. End users are demanding more features at a lower cost, even in the case of replacement sales," she adds.

For the 20 companies active in the market, including large multinational companies (GE Medical Systems, Schiller, Philips Medical Systems, Del Mar Reynolds Medical and Quinton Cardiology Systems) and medium and small sized companies (Getemed AG, Esaote Biomedica, Fukuda Denshi, Mortara Instruments, Nihon Kohden, Siemens Medical and Welch Allyn)- this requires a calibrated response.

A focus on product range, functionality (such as data management and compatibility capabilities) flexibility, ability to network and communicate with other systems, ease-of-use and reliability coupled with competitive prices are likely to be crucial to success.

Manufacturers would also do well to capitalise on emerging opportunities in Eastern Europe. As these countries begin to establish basic healthcare systems, increased demand for medium to low-priced cardiovascular monitoring equipment is expected to result.

All five segments of the European cardiovascular monitoring equipment market-resting ECG monitoring equipment, ECG data management systems, ECG stress testing systems, Holter monitoring systems and, event monitoring systems-are forecast to experience growth.

The resting ECG monitoring equipment is expected to be largest segment in revenue terms. This segment is likely to amass $50.6 million in 2009. The ECG data management systems is expected to be the fastest growing segment with an annual average growth rate of 8.3 per cent till 2009.

Mounting demand for efficient information integration cross-functionally across the hospital organisation is projected to drive expansion of the ECG data management systems segment. The persistent need for effective data management in the face of growing volumes of ECG data is likely to provide long-term impetus to market development.

Inova Health System Selects Fusion from Carefx and CA's Identity and Healthcare Access Management Solution

Inova Health System Selects Fusion from Carefx and CA's Identity and Healthcare Access Management Solution

Combined healthcare access management solution provides clinicians with secure and expedient access to patient data -- anytime, anywhere.

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) April 15, 2007

Carefx Corporation today announced that Inova Health System, of Falls Church, Va., has selected Fusion from Carefx™ and CA, Inc.'s Identity and Healthcare Access Management (IAM) solution. The combined solution will be rolled out to more than 10,000 users at Inova's hospitals and facilities throughout Northern Virginia.

Hospital workers depend on multiple applications to access and enter patient data throughout their daily routine and to manage their patient care workflow. Unfortunately, this data often resides in disparate applications, each with its own sign-on procedures and passwords. After login, workers often have to perform several steps to locate the records of the patient they are treating at the time. Eliminating these repetitive, time-consuming processes by utilizing single sign-on, as well as automating password reset activities, will allow Inova employees to devote more attention to their primary objective -- treating their patients.

"Inova Health System is focused on providing excellent service and high quality care to our patients, medical staff and employees," says Geoff Brown, senior vice president and chief information officer at Inova Health. "Using the CA/Carefx solution provides caregivers with easy and seamless access to patient and business applications across multiple systems. Efficiency in linking patient data, provisioning accounts and managing security represent key components of Inova's IT strategic roadmap and will be a huge satisfier throughout our health system."

Fusion from Carefx aggregates data from diverse applications and databases into a unified view to simplify access to a patient's information, wherever it may reside. CA's IAM solution complements Fusion by providing application and workstation single sign-on, password management and security information management across Inova's enterprise.

In response to the growing complexity of IT environments in healthcare organizations worldwide, these combined solutions are built on an open, flexible, and scalable platform -- enabling Inova to address not only their immediate demands, but also their ongoing needs as the organization continues to grow. Together, the solution will optimize Inova's operations by helping the organization to better maintain user accounts for more than 30 network applications -- simplifying sign-on procedures, increasing security and privacy protection, and reducing the time clinicians spend searching for information they need to accurately diagnose and treat their patients.

"Information is the lifeblood of delivering safe and quality patient care," said Andrew J. Hurd, chairman and CEO of Carefx. "Carefx, along with our partners at CA, is dedicated to ensuring that clinicians at Inova have secure and expedient access to their patients' information regardless of where that information is stored. No longer will clinicians be limited by technology challenges, but rather, their individual patient care workflow will drive the performance of the technology."

"The healthcare industry must provide medical professionals with ready access to critical patient information -- while ensuring that the information can only be accessed by appropriate staff," said Sam Curry, vice president of security management at CA. "By leveraging CA's IAM solutions and Fusion from Carefx, Inova is able to fulfill this dual requirement in a way that is efficient, accurate and adaptable to organizational change."

Choose Your Accreditations to Maximise Your Business

Choose Your Accreditations to Maximise Your Business

The judicious choice of accreditations not only publicise your company's expertise but also the correct mix can also maximise the return on investment

(PRWEB) July 15, 2010

Smart Platform Rental Ltd, the UK’s largest provider of light truck mount self drive rental platforms (http://www. smartplatforms. co. uk/cherrypicker/OURPLATFORMS/INTRODUCTION. aspx), has recently announced three accreditations in the fields of training, health & safety and service delivery. ‘We don’t believe in having loads of certification simply for the sake of it, particularly in the current economic climate.’ stated Guy Willett, Smart’s Commercial Director. ‘We started eight years ago with a large proportion of our customers being initially drawn to our competitive ‘from £99 a day self drive hire’ pricing (http://www. smartplatforms. co. uk/LinkClick. aspx? fileticket=8dN1iNC19q8%3d&tabid=71). However, many have stayed loyal to us due to the level of service provided and our agility in accommodating casual hires and we wanted to draw attention to this expertise and capability. The judicious choice of accreditation we felt would not only publicise our expertise but the correct mix of accreditation would maximise the return on investment.

The recent accreditations were carefully selected from a large market of certification now available. ‘We serve a wide range of sectors and the Safe Contractor scheme (http://www. safecontractor. com) was ideal in its breadth since it is non sector specific so numerous prospects who require powered access can view our health and safety documentation in a format and level of detail that they are familiar with for the rest of their supply chain.’ said Willett. ‘Ironically the IPAF Rental Plus (http://www. ipaf. org/en/ipaf-rental) accreditation was exactly the opposite reasoning.’ The Rental Plus audit process is based on an independent assessment of all of the fundamental elements of a rental company and the standards of service the company provides, with close monitoring of customer service, safety, staff training and cherry picker inspection procedure. ‘This was perfect for us since prospects, once they found us, need to know that the sector expertise we have is of a high level and only a sector specific audit can determine this.’

The complementary nature of these two accreditations combined with our IPAF Training Centre (http://www. smartplatforms. co. uk/cherrypicker/WHATSNEW/NEWS/SMARTIPAFTRAININGTHESMARTWAY. aspx) status is already gaining Smart new opportunities. ‘We’ve received several enquiries for boom lifts and IPAF training from blue chip customers who came through the Safe Contractor channel, as did several of our competitors. They naturally wanted further proof of our abilities and the Rental Plus accreditation gave us the edge over most of the market to leave us in several shortlists we might not have been in without this prudent choice of accreditations.’ stated Willett.

Pache Pod Turns to PacketTrap for Proactive Network Monitoring and Management

Pache Pod Turns to PacketTrap for Proactive Network Monitoring and Management

DNS Audit Tools Helps Beverage Company Run Business Smoothly

San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) December 12, 2007

PacketTrap Networks, a leading provider of free network management software solutions, announced today that Pache Pod, the premier purveyor of specialty coffees and drinks, relies on the pt360 Network Management Tool Suite (pt360) to maintain the health of their network and to manage hardware and software systems within their mobile shops.

"Networks aren't perfect and they are subject to all types of failures," said Angela Pace, CEO of Pache Pod. "I need my network up and running not only during business hours, but at all times. PacketTrap's monitoring capabilities help us stay on top of the network and its diagnostic tools allow us to proactively prevent any errors that may occur -- we see it as a good way to keep our business running smoothly."

Pache Pod favors web-based open source applications such as Cacti and Nagios, which the company spent significant time and effort customizing to their very specific needs. The company also uses commercial network management tools but was tired of managing and supporting disparate tools, which lacked integration and required significant cost, time and effort. The company selected PacketTrap's pt360 because the solution includes network monitoring and diagnostic tools in a single, user-friendly environment that supports open source technologies. Pt360 provides a complete view of the network and allows users to monitor all the components running on it, connected to it, tapping its resources and using it as a means of transfer.

"pt360 provides a complete view of the network so users can accurately and adequately manage IT services and improve the performance of applications, and ultimately, the entire business," said Steve Goodman, CEO of PacketTrap.

"Using the pt360 DNS audit tool, I was able to instantly spot a bunch of incorrect entries in my DNS server, missing pointer records and stale reverse DNS data," said Steve Kennedy, CTO for Pache Pod. "The tool helped me proactively fix a bunch of problems that would have otherwise become minor nagging issues for lots of users on my network."

About PacketTrap
PacketTrap is favored for its ability to cleanly integrate open source, third party and its own network diagnostic tools within a centralized network dashboard. Its flagship solution, pt360 provides you with a personal look into your network and lets you complete bandwidth utilization, network discovery and other tasks from a single screen. It includes port/SNMP scans, TFTP server tools, reporting capabilities and more.

PacketTrap believes most current offerings are point products lacking a central dashboard, integration and correlation. They are complex, expensive and/or poorly supported. PacketTrap is committed to providing solutions that are clean to use and integrated together. More information can be found at www. PacketTrap. com

A "Growing" Liver Problem: Thin Outside, Fat Inside

A "Growing" Liver Problem: Thin Outside, Fat Inside

"Internal flab" associated with fatty liver disease is becoming a bigger liver problem than cirrhosis in the United States and Canada, and most people have no idea that they're at risk.

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) July 30, 2007

Thin is in, but being thin on the outside doesn't necessarily mean you're thin on the inside, especially where your liver is concerned.

That's the conclusion of a team on researchers including Professor Jimmy Bell of the Imperial College, London.

A recent 14-year study revealed that even people who would be described as "thin" could have invisible "internal flab" that might pose a danger to their health, and could be an especially dangerous liver problem.

Fatty liver disease is a liver condition that occurs when there's a buildup of fat cells in the liver. The buildup can grow unnoticeably but could eventually lead to a range of liver problems, including enlarged liver, cirrhosis and liver cancer. Symptoms are rare in the early stages, so most people don't even know the problem is developing.

Fatty liver disease usually occurs in people with a poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. Excessive alcohol use can also be a factor.

Professor Bell recently told the Daily Telegraph that many people who look normal and healthy on the outside may actually be obese on the inside, especially where the liver is concerned.

Bell's research used MRI scans to map the "internal flab" or visceral fat people carry inside the body, especially in the liver. Such visceral fat can be much more of a problem than fat that is more obvious on the outside.

Bell noted that "thin" women can actually carry more than twice the amount of visceral fat of someone who is considered to be "heavy" or "obese."

"If you maintain your weight through diet alone, you'll probably have higher levels of visceral fat," Bell adds. "You need to burn visceral fat away with activity." In other words, exercise is necessary.

Canadian health authorities recently said obesity and fatty liver disease have overtaken cirrhosis as the number one liver problem in Canada. According to Gary Fagan, president of the new Canadian Liver Foundation, fatty liver disease is now the fastest growing and most common liver ailment in Canada.

It Might Be Your Thyroid, After-all Self Collected Sampling Makes It Easy

It Might Be Your Thyroid, After-all Self Collected Sampling Makes It Easy

BIOSAFE announces the availability of it's new TSH Thyroid Test

(PRWEB) January 27, 2002

January 26, 2002

LAKE FOREST, Ill., -- Having trouble losing weight? It might be your thyroid! Having trouble with fatigue, depression, or your vision? It might be your thyroid!

A woman with signs of depression and too-much sleep, and until now not diagnosed with a thyroid condition, took the new BIOSAFE TSH test. Results indicated a hypo-thyroid condition. A later visit with her physician confirmed the results and she is now receiving the proper care for her now-known condition.

An over or under-active thyroid can lead to many different health problems, yet often the health care provider does not consider the thyroid. Too fatÂ…go on a diet. DepressedÂ…go see a psychiatrist.  ButÂ…it might be your thyroid.

Now, for the first time, a thyroid test (the TSH test) has been approved by the FDA for at home use. TSH is one of the principle laboratory tests recommended by the American Thyroid Association for detecting either over-active or under-active thyroid conditions. Thyroid hormones control energy levels and metabolism. So, if you are exhibiting one of the health problems mentioned, you might want to get your thyroid checked.

BIOSAFE President, David Fleisner said, ``The TSH test is recognized as the benchmark for diagnosing thyroid problems. BIOSAFE now brings this testing process home, and we believe this procedure will have significant implications for the health of many people.''

The BIOSAFE TSH test may be purchased through a physician or from the BIOSAFE web site, www. ebiosafe. com. Testing approval and review of results by a licensed healthcare professional is required. A healthcare professional from BIOSAFEÂ’s website is available for this purpose.

Each kit allows for the easy collection of a small sample of blood (three drops) into the special collection device, which is then sent to the laboratory for testing. Blood collection kits are available directly from the BIOSAFE Web site at www. ebiosafe. com or by calling 1-888-700-TEST (8378).
