GlobalPlatform, the global leader in smart card infrastructure development and deployment, will host its first business seminar in Singapore at the Hotel Intercontinental Singapore on 26 April 2005. The event is titled “GlobalPlatform Today and in the Future.”

The free, one-day seminar will aim to educate the Asian market on the benefits of adopting GlobalPlatform technology for single and multi-application smart card programs and will present real world examples of successful implementations deployed in the finance, government, mobile telecommunication and healthcare industries.

The seminar will comprise a series of informative presentations, delivered by representatives of GlobalPlatform and end users of GlobalPlatformÂ’s Specifications. Delegates will receive a business overview of GlobalPlatformÂ’s value proposition and the importance of standardization, a high level technical overview of GlobalPlatformÂ’s Specifications and current activities, a briefing on GlobalPlatform implementations deployed today across industries and a look at future GlobalPlatform opportunities for the Asian smart card industry.

Presentations throughout the day will be structured as follows:

Overview of GlobalPlatform Financial Implementations of GlobalPlatform Mobile Telecom Implementations of GlobalPlatform Government and Healthcare Implementations of GlobalPlatform Future of GlobalPlatform Technology

Bob Beer, Chairman of GlobalPlatform, comments: “GlobalPlatform is committed to driving adoption of its specifications in Asia, a region which is considered one of the world’s fastest growing, dynamic smart card markets. The number of smart card programs based on GlobalPlatform technology in Asian markets has increased significantly over the years, but we still believe there are many more issuers and program operators who could benefit from using our royalty free specifications for cards, device and systems.

“Over the past three years, GlobalPlatform has hosted a number of Asian seminars, but this will be our first event in Singapore. The seminar program will offer a valuable insight into opportunities and challenges for the smart card industry in Asia, and with so many interesting and dynamic speakers committed to making this day a success we look forward to welcoming many delegates from the region.”

The seminar will conclude with a cocktail reception, where delegates will have the opportunity to meet GlobalPlatformÂ’s Board of Directors, Technical and Business Committees, representatives from its member organizations and guest speakers.
