'The Frugal Millionaires' Donate Thousands to Charities

Supporting real-life philanthropy, an author delivers on a promise to donate book profits to those in need.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 2, 2009

The author of the award winning book "The Frugal Millionaires" announces that thousands of dollars have been anonymously donated across more than 40 charities on behalf of the millionaires who contributed to the book.

Seventy millionaires anonymously contributed their ideas on how to be smarter with your money with the mutual goal of donations being made to their favorite charities once the book became profitable. "We've reached a level of profit that allows us to start donating now when the need is the greatest. It is our hope that the initial group of checks will be the first of many sent to the charities that are important to the millionaires who made the book what it is," says author Jeff Lehman. "100% of the millionaires make donations to charities in their every day lives and this is an extension of that philosophy. No matter how much you have, it's important to give back something, especially during these difficult economic times," adds Lehman.

The charities span a wide range personal interests and play to the specific values of the millionaires, including: financial literacy, health, the elderly, housing, homelessness, children, human rights, animals and education. Jonathan T. M. Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity, a charity that was one of the donation recipients, says "(The book's) advice from self-made millionaires on ways to be smart with your money while also being charitable is certainly a message that we appreciate. The counsel is timeless, but it is particularly helpful during this time of economic stress as people seek ways to live with less."

"The Frugal Millionaires" has won multiple book awards since it was launched last fall. It has also been highlighted in national magazines, on local television and radio and covered on podcasts and personal finance blogs. A guest article written by the author was recently featured in the "Alpha Consumer" column on the US News & World Report web site. That article was then selected by the editors at Yahoo! to appear on the home page rotation for a day. A sister project to the book, The Frugal Test, lets consumers learn just how frugal they are. To date, nearly 5,000 people have taken the test at www. TheFrugalTest. com. The average score of 63 out of 100 illuminates that we all need to be smarter with our money as quickly as possible. The test is free and confidential. It consists of 25 multiple choice questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
