The prestigious first-time award was granted in commemoration of the OD NetworkÂ’s 40th anniversary, and recognizes the author for his outstanding work toward advancement in the theory and practice of organization development. The association will present these and other awards at its annual conference beginning October 1, 2004 in Puerto Rico.
Recipients of the MembersÂ’ Choice Award, three in all, were nominated by their industry peers and reviewed by the OD NetworkÂ’s Awards and Recognitions Committee. Selections were made based on the most influential books for organization development practitioners over the past 40 years. Peter Block, author, speaker and consultant, received numerous nominations and was selected to receive the 2004 OD Network MembersÂ’ Choice Award for his book, Flawless Consulting: A Guide to Getting Your Expertise Used, which offers new levels of effectiveness for becoming a better consultant, and using consulting to become a better person.
Block, president of Peter Block Company and Designed Learning, has received wide acclaim including various national awards for outstanding contributions in the field of training and development such as Training Magazine HRD Hall of Fame, the American Society for Training and Development Award for Distinguished Contributions and the Association for Quality and Participation President's Award.
Another recipient of the OD Network MemberÂ’s Choice Award is Marvin R. Weisbord, author of Productive Workplaces: Organizing and Managing for Dignity, Meaning, and Community (The Jossey Bass Management Series, an imprint of Wiley). In addition to receiving the MembersÂ’ Choice Award, Weisbord was bestowed with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors individuals whose achievements over the course of a lifetime have exhibited commitment and increased the effectiveness of the field of organization development.
