Cramer's RhinoPlus(TM) Technical Seating Line
Honored For Its Form, Functionality And Style
KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- July 26, 2000 -- The RhinoPlus(TM) "tough but tender" technical seating line by Cramer, Inc. has received a Best of Show award from Design Journal, a leading monthly trade publication for interior designers, architects, facilities managers and other furnishings specifiers. The Santa Monica, Calif.-based Design Journal presented the award to Cramer in July, and will include the RhinoPlus in its October issue covering the "Best of NeoCon® 2000 World's Trade Fair."
According to Design Journal, which actively seeks out the best products at major shows around the country, "RhinoPlus was chosen from hundreds of products at NeoCon® 2000 based its form, functionality and style." Cramer officials were equally enthused about the award and the exposure RhinoPlus received at NeoCon® 2000.
"The RhinoPlus was extremely well received by attendees at the recent NeoCon® World's Trade Fair in Chicago," said Jeff Meyer, Cramer vice president of sales and marketing. "The award confirms the success of RhinoPlus at the show, and further establishes Cramer as an industry leader in design and innovation."
NeoCon® 2000, held June 12-14, included more than 1,200 of the world's best contract furnishings manufacturers and was attended by more than 60,000 industry professionals. Annually, NeoCon® World's Trade Fair is North America's largest exposition of commercial office, health care, hospitality, institutional and retail furnishings.
Released in January, the RhinoPlus line has redefined ergonomic seating for use in harsh environments such as medical laboratories, manufacturing areas, assembly lines, colleges, hospitals and aggressive cleaning stations. Quest Diagnostics, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Rose Medical Center are just a few of the hundreds of companies and organizations that have purchased Cramer's latest line of seating. With an ever-increasing need for durability, extended comfort and workplace safety in tough-use applications, the RhinoPlus succeeds at being "tough but tender" where others have failed.
"Superior quality has always been a major feature of Cramer's product portfolio," Cramer President and COO Bob Kovach said. "That tradition continues with the RhinoPlus, a 'tough but tender' seating offering that appeals to those users who need chemical and puncture resistance but are unwilling to give up comfort. The RhinoPlus succeeds in offering both."
The RhinoPlus combines a urethane elastomer skin and soft, cushion-molded foam to produce the most comfortable durable chair on the market. A joint effort with the Meramec Group resulted in a patent-pending upholstery skin that is softer, tougher and more flexible than anything else on the market. Its easy-to-clean urethane construction is damage resistant, unaffected by most chemicals and has a superior abrasion rating.
"The Pachyderm® skin of the RhinoPlus scored substantially higher than vinyl coverings in puncture and abrasion resistance tests," said Rob Dieckhaus, industrial products operation manager at the Meramec Group. "This material is softer than vinyl and has four times the puncture resistance and nearly twice the tensile strength."
The one-tenth inch thick solid urethane skin is not the only notable feature built into the RhinoPlus. The chair, which meets ANSI/BIFMA and TB117 standards, offers tremendous ergonomics, an innovative seat and back comfort tread and a five-leg nylon composite base that is lightweight yet durable. The RhinoPlus also features a seven-year, 24-hour-a-day, multi-shift warranty.
