Tucker Sadler Architects Designs "New Urbanism" Environment in Hawaii

Tucker Sadler Architects Designs "New Urbanism" Environment in Hawaii

Tucker Sadler Architects, an award-winning nationwide architecture firm, has been retained by DeBartolo Development to master plan and design the third largest shopping complex in Hawaii named Ka Makana Ali'i.

San Diego (Vocus) May 15, 2009

Tucker Sadler Architects, an award-winning nationwide architecture firm, has been retained by DeBartolo Development to master plan and design the third largest shopping complex in Hawaii named Ka Makana Ali'i.

"Our vision for the property is that of a regional center, providing retail, office, hospitality and entertainment venues in a 'new urbanism' development," Greg Mueller, the CEO of Tucker Sadler, said. "This is an incredible opportunity to help decrease urban sprawl and make Ka Makana Ali'i a lifestyle destination."

Ka Makana Ali'i is a smart growth development aiming to achieve economic growth and provide a unique sense of community and place. The architecture and landscaping of the new lifestyle center will promote healthy living and an inviting, active lifestyle by creating pedestrian-friendly paths and a variety of recreational features and facilities. Ka Makana Ali'i will contribute positively to the environment and utilize the latest in energy and environmentally sensitive design elements.

Ka Makana Ali'i will have distinctive landscaping treatments and signage that display the elegant features of the Ho'okupu throughout the project. The Ho'okupu is an offering that is given with honor, humility and respect in Hawaii. The Ti leaves that cover the Ho'okupu are a symbol of strength and protection and are unwrapped to reveal the special gift within.

"Greg Mueller and his team at Tucker Sadler Architects added creativity, wisdom and great counsel to DeBartolo Development in what we consider a world-class project that will rival any mall being built in the world," said Edward Kobel, the President and COO of DeBartolo Development.

The development will be a mixed-use, open-air shopping center that will include a department store anchor, an entertainment anchor that will most likely include movie theaters and possibly a bowling alley, restaurants, a fitness center, two business hotels with a total of 300 to 500 rooms and 200,000 square feet of office space, along with more than 4,000 surface and underground parking spaces on 67 acres and a link to Honolulu's future rail line providing access to surrounding communities.

"The company expects to break ground on the 1.5 million-square foot project by the end of 2010, and will phase construction through 2013. The project will create an estimated 21,000 construction jobs over more than three years and between 3,000 and 5,000 permanent jobs," said Erin Nellis, the Western Regional Development Officer for DeBartolo Development.

Ka Makana Ali'i is located within the fastest-growing region in West Oahu. The project is supported by Department of Hawaiian Homelands (DHHL), which will help to fund more housing for the islands. Over the next 20 years, projections show there will be more than seven million square feet of commercial space and 65,000 jobs in the Kapolei region.

Widely recognized as the "go-to" firm for urban design, Tucker Sadler Architects are designing projects all over the United States including California, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, and Hawaii. Tucker Sadler has recently completed award-winning design on 44 Monroe, a 34-story high-rise residential tower in Phoenix, Arizona. In San Diego, Tucker Sadler has been retained in collaboration with Manchester Financial Group for the long-awaited redevelopment of the Navy Broadway Complex.

ID USB Devise Ushers the Medical Bracelet into the 21st Century

ID USB Devise Ushers the Medical Bracelet into the 21st Century

Life saving medical storage device offers critical information to 1st responders in a flash.

Sandy, UT (Vocus) February 5, 2008 -–

In an effort to provide first responders with personal medical information, especially during emergencies when treatment errors often occur, the iD Personal Electronic Identification Device picks up where the medical ID bracelet left off --- but with a digital twist. iD is a USB flash drive that gives doctors, EMS responders and health-care professionals access to a person’s critical, potentially life-saving medical information at an accident scene or in any emergency situation.

Medical professionals rely on patient background information in order to provide care and to administer appropriate medications, but many emergency situations make immediate identification impossible. As a result, nearly 200,000 people die each year from medical errors in the US alone, and most are the result of missing or inaccurate medical information. Access to reliable and timely information is a very real consideration and often critical for patient treatment success, especially for people with sensitive medical conditions like diabetes, rare blood types or medication allergies. Most importantly, iD allows owners to convey pertinent medical and legal information even when they are unconscious or unable to respond!

On the iD flash drive is a self launching and easy to read computer program that holds personal identification including a photograph, emergency contacts, and medical and insurance information about its owner including medications and allergies. It is also capable of storing vital medical records such as Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) and Living Will documents. iD does not require any special software or “readers” and features an auto-run program that loads the information for immediate display when the iD drive is inserted into a computer’s USB port. The information can be read by any standard-issue Police, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Fire Rescue Service laptop computer.

Developed by a computer specialist in cooperation with local fire, Rescue and EMT authorities in Sandy, Utah, iD has been embraced by these agencies who deal with identification issues every day. “There are a lot of situations when time lost because we cannot identify a person results in brain damage or damage to vital organs,” says Rick Howard, Sandy city Fire Dept. Medical Officer. “Just having their information immediately accessible and not having to waste critical time is vital if we are to respond with the proper level of care. The information carried on iD can save time critical to saving lives.”

ID is small enough to be attached to an adult’s key ring, a child’s backpack, an Alzheimer’s patient’s article of clothing, or tied into a toddler’s shoelace. iD does not require internet access, does not store sensitive medical records on a server, does not carry sensitive information like Social Security, driver’s license or credit card numbers, and does not require a monthly subscription fee. iD features overwrite password protection, and can be easily updated to reflect medical profile changes. iD is available for $24.99 (+S&H) exclusively online at http://www. identificationdevices. net (http://www. identificationdevices. net).

Identification Devices, LLC is a Sandy, Utah company dedicated to the development of innovative personal identification products.

Axxel Knutson of TradingWeapon. com initiates coverage of Trex Corp with a "Strong Buy" rating

Axxel Knutson of TradingWeapon. com initiates coverage of Trex Corp with a "Strong Buy" rating

Wood decking may be on the way out. Why? Because of harmful chemicals used to preserve wood and the hassle of maintenance. Wood accounts for 95% of current decking in the USA. Composite materials, the type manufactured by Trex for decks could have a long and healthy run at a massive market, so says Axxel Knutson, Chief Investment Officer at TradingWeapon. com.

(PRWEB) August 22, 2002

August 20, 2002: [Warren, New Jersey] Axxel Knutson, President & Chief Investment Officer [CIO] of TradingWeapon. com in Warren, New Jersey, an OSJ* office of First Allied Securities Inc., an NASD/SIPC member, today initiated coverage of Trex Corporation [TWP-28.56] with a "Strong Buy" rating.  According to Knutson, "As the leading manufacturer of composite wood decking, we believe that Trex will dominate the space with its already sizeable lead in the marketplace. Additionally, governmental restrictions on the use of certain chemicals now used in traditional wood decking will further lead homeowners to choose composite materials over wood for both new decking and replacement. Mr. Knutson states "Â… that Trex can be a very important portfolio holding for growth oriented portfolios especially when one considers that wood is the primary material in 95% of decks today and that composite materials, although more expensive than wood rarely needs any maintenance." In the interest of full disclosure, Mr. Knutson does hold a position in the stock of the company and has for a number of months." New Study Details Key to Successful Product Commercialization in Medicine

New Study Details Key to Successful Product Commercialization in Medicine

Success in the biomedical markets takes a lot more than a good idea or a breakthrough technology, according to a new study released today by Kalorama Information. Commercializing products in todayÂ’s complex medical markets requires years of strategic planning and market preparation, reaching back to the earliest stages of research and development.

(PRWEB) August 1, 2003

New York (PRWEB) August 1, 2003 — Success in the biomedical markets takes a lot more than a good idea or a breakthrough technology, according to a new study released today by Kalorama Information. Commercializing products in today’s complex medical markets requires years of strategic planning and market preparation, reaching back to the earliest stages of research and development.

To research and assemble the new study, Successful Commercialization Strategies for New Healthcare Products and Technologies, Kalorama Information reviewed successful and unsuccessful marketing plans from the industry, and integrated the lessons learned with secondary literature, including academic marketing texts and industry-specific market research reports and guides.

The resulting Six Strength Model that the report outlines is articulated in theory and in case studies by an analyst with more than 30 years in biomedical marketing, strategic consulting, and product development.

"A chief incentive for launching this study was that for the foreseeable future, marketing drugs, devices, and diagnostics is becoming as complicated as making them in the first place," notes Steven Heffner, Acquisitions Editor for Kalorama Information. "By codifying the Six Strength Model, we feel that we have put together a roadmap that will help small and mid-sized firms navigate through the development process to successful launch."

In addition to a point-by-point discussion of each of the "Six Strengths" with a multitude of examples, the report provides in-depth case studies of product development and commercialization efforts in the diagnostic, medical device, and pharmaceutical fields.

I-SecurityCameras. com Explains the Demand for Wholesale Security Cameras

I-SecurityCameras. com Explains the Demand for Wholesale Security Cameras

According to i-SecurityCameras. com, there are many companies that offer wholesale security cameras and surveillance systems.

(PRWEB) November 10, 2005

According to i-SecurityCameras. com, there are many companies that offer wholesale security cameras and surveillance systems. For the most part, their customers are businesses large and small who have a security need beyond the single household system. Since businesses purchase a lot of items wholesale, there are companies that offer the hardware necessary at wholesale prices. In addition to the hardware required for a state of the art security system, there are costs involved in the installation, training and maintenance for those systems.

As i-SecurityCameras. com explains, more complex systems create higher ancillary costs. The companies that provide the hardware at wholesale prices are usually the same ones that charge a healthy fee to install the system, train the in house personnel who will be responsible for running it and are the choice to call for maintenance when something breaks down. Furthermore, there are constant updates to any system due to the ever-changing technology of the industry. With new, improved devices coming onto the market at all times and with new and more clever thieves, terrorists and other nefarious people around, there is a constant demand for the latest state of the art equipment.

Quite often, the public will be able to find home systems at close to wholesale prices. When technology improves, many items are discontinued and will be sold at deeply discounted prices. When this happens, the sharp shopper will be able to take advantage of the savings and buy a system at wholesale prices.

Security cameras and surveillance systems that function properly and do the job for which they were intended will always be in demand and at wholesale prices that demand will be even higher. With each new heinous terrorist act or wave of robberies, the demand for security systems always rises sharply.

Software Company and Immersion Schools Team Up to Promote Spanish Language Learning in Costa Rica

Software Company and Immersion Schools Team Up to Promote Spanish Language Learning in Costa Rica

Recognizing the growing demand for English Spanish bilingualism a group of companies in Costa Rica team up to help people learn Spanish via immersion schools and English Spanish translation software.

(PRWEB) August 18, 2005

San Jose, Costa Rica (PRWEB) August 18, 2005 – SEER Education Corporation, a local education software company, and four progressive local Spanish immersion schools have teamed up to promote Spanish language learning and English Spanish bilingualism in Costa Rica in hopes of generating more economic benefit for the country. During the past twenty five years, Costa Rica has been increasingly transformed into a Spanish as a second language teaching center for tourists. SEER develops educational software products that assist people in developing English Spanish bilingualism, helping native English speakers learn Spanish, and native Spanish speakers learn English. Four leading local Spanish immersion schools; Academia Tica, COSI, CRLA and Universal de Idiomas are promoting the SEER products to their students at discounted prices in hopes that it will encourage students to continue their Spanish studies when they return home and hopefully come back to Costa Rica in the future with friends and colleagues for more advance language studies.

According to Madison Cloutier, president of SEER Education Corporation and a high tech entrepreneurial who was also involved in the travel industry for over 20 years said, "This teaming up of local Spanish immersion schools and a software company is indicative of the potential future for Costa Rica. Tourism is already a large industry segment in Costa Rica, the technology industry in Costa Rica is an up and coming segment, and English Spanish bilingualism is becoming more important through out the America's. Costa Rica is really at the nexus of this intersection: tourism, technology and second language education, and has the opportunity to leverage it for economic benefit."

Ana Mercedes Rodríguez, director of Academia Tica, agrees and recently addressed travel industry executives at the annual Expo Tour here in Costa Rica regarding the growth of "Linguistic Tourism" and its economic benefit for Costa Rica. According to Ana, "During the past twenty five years, Costa Rica has been increasingly transformed into a Spanish as a second language teaching center for tourists, thanks to the favorable conditions here, such as the absence of an army, the balance of its social structure, political stability and a good transportation, telecommunications and health system. Other relevant factors include the quality of the Spanish spoken here and the country’s efforts in the educational field that has resulted in a large group of teachers who fulfill the highest standards of the teaching profession. Also visitors feel that they are in a continuous and holistic learning experience thanks to support from friendly host families and the communities. We believe in the advantages of using new technologies such as SEER to teach Spanish as a second language and that in the future this will help differentiate us from immersion schools in other parts of the world."

Madison believes that teaming up with Spanish immersion schools makes a lot of sense for his company. The SEER (Spanish English Education Resources) product is a comprehensive reference resource that provides great benefit to native English speakers who already have some basic understanding of the Spanish language. SEER includes the worldÂ’s most comprehensive English Spanish digital dictionary including synonyms, verb conjugations and idiomatic expressions, and the worldÂ’s only Interactive Computer Aided Translator (ICAT). People who are attending a Spanish immersion school receive the basic language skills and understanding needed to receive real value from the SEER product and by using SEER can continue the learning process for the rest of their life. Madison says, "It is a win, win, win situation for the students, immersion schools, and his company."

Julio Salas, owner of Universal de Idiomas, also sees the future of using more technology in language learning saying, "Technology provides our students an excellent tool through which to expose our students to the language being learned. It provides them with the opportunity of having at their fingertips a powerful tool to practice what is being learned each day in the classrooms. Our students who have used these technological innovations beyond the classroom setting have by far enhanced their command of the language (and in a shorter time) as compared to those that didn't. SEER products enable our students to practice comprehensively and at their own pace the four learning skills of language learning: speaking, reading, writing and listening."

According to Ronald Rivera, Spanish Curriculum Director at COSI (Costa Rica Spanish Institute), "We have looked at a lot of language learning software in the past and we have found SEER unique because we consider that this software it is very useful tool in order to complement the Spanish learning as well as English. According to our teacher commentaries, this kind of software really helps our students improve their language skills."

Astronauts Test Use of Nutritional Supplements in Space

Astronauts Test Use of Nutritional Supplements in Space

Astronauts use and test two nutritional supplements during latest Space Shuttle missions based on joint research of AmeriSciences and NASA/JSC

Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 17, 2009

After nearly four years of joint research of Houston-based AmeriSciences and NASA / Johnson Space Center (JSC), a senior NASA medical officer has confirmed that two of the resulting nutritional supplement formulas were used and tested in space by the astronauts of mission STS-125 of May 11, 2009 and the mission STS-127 of July 15, 2009 and are now in use and testing aboard the International Space Station.

This marks a milestone in the advancement of a project between AmeriSciences and NASA/JSC to develop nutritional supplements for the astronauts to meet the needs of long-duration spaceflight as well as conditioning here on Earth. Commenced through a Space Act Agreement between AmeriSciences and NASA/JSC back in the fall of 2005, this joint research effort has now progressed to in-flight testing as well as clinical ground studies to determine safety and effectiveness of the resulting formulations.

"NASA/JSC has always had to push forward with new technologies to meet the extreme conditions of outer space... nutritional supplementation is another one of those areas of technology in which NASA can make a significant contribution to society as a whole while promoting the health of the participants in their space program," comments Lou Gallardo, Chairman of AmeriSciences. "We are proud to be working closely with NASA/JSC on this project and combining all of our expertise to create the best products possible for the astronauts."

The years of preparation and research by experts from both AmeriSciences and NASA has led to the use and testing of antioxidant and multivitamin formulations aboard the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. The commencement of use and testing of these formulas on Space Shuttle mission STS-125 was important to said research as this mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope presented extra physiological challenges. Prolonged Extra-Vehicular Activities (EVAs or "spacewalks") and the high-orbit location of the telescope exposed the astronauts to an increased risk of higher levels of radiation and other medical concerns.

"This is just the first step towards preparing for the rigors of long-duration space flight on the human body," explains Gallardo, "the good news is that the results from this research can impact everyone's health here on Earth."

AmeriSciences currently markets versions of the two formulas used on these missions. They are marketed as AmeriSciences Omega Max (an Omega 3 fatty acid supplement) and AmeriSciences Premium Multivitamin.

For more information on AmeriSciences' Omega Max and Premium Multivitamin, please visit www. amerisciences. com]. For general information about Space Shuttle missions STS-125 and STS-127, please visit www. nasa. gov].

The World’s Fastest Pain Relief Can Be a Fingertip Tap Away

The World’s Fastest Pain Relief Can Be a Fingertip Tap Away

The fastest way to relieve chronic or acute pain may be a simple do-it-yourself acupressure technique called EFT. Health care practitioners and patients around the world report amazing results in record time.

San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) September 13, 2006

An estimated 47.5 million Americans suffer from chronic joint pain and millions more lead restricted lives because of fibromyalgia, bursitis, gout, injuries, back pain, and stiff necks. No wonder pain-relief drugs are top sellers.

Unfortunately, drugs don’t always help, and their side effects can be serious. But a simple do-it-yourself acupressure technique called EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is succeeding where other therapies fail. It combines gentle fingertip tapping on key acupressure points with focused thought and is described in a free manual that can be downloaded from

Http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwpainreliefcj (http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwpainreliefcj).

EFT has reduced or eliminated pain in hospital patients, accident victims, people with osteoarthritis and other inflammatory diseases, patients who suffer from migraine headaches, and people who hurt all over.

This is excellent news for those with osteoarthritis because pain-relieving COX-2 inhibitors like Vioxx, once among the most popular medications in U. S. history, were recently pulled from the market because their side effects included heart attacks and strokes.

“Even at their best,” says Los Angeles physician Eric Robins, MD, “conventional treatments fail to address the true causes of pain. That’s why they can’t cure pain or make it stay away.”

Dr. Robins, a urologist, routinely teaches EFT to patients whose symptoms do not respond to conventional treatment. “No matter what the diagnosis,” he explains, “whether it’s pain from a chronic bladder infection or from something entirely different, I assume that it’s true cause is emotional pain or trauma that’s stored in the body. In most cases, patients respond quickly to the application of EFT. Their pain goes away and so do the conditions that weren’t improving.”

In Holland, physician Franklin Sluijters has found acupressure tapping to be so helpful that he has given up a 30-year medical practice to work exclusively with EFT. “As a family doctor,” he explains, “I had ample opportunity to try it on everything. I’ve had exceptionally good results when treating patients for pain by teaching them to tap on their EFT points.”

Belgian physician Tania de Winne reports similar results. “Neck and shoulder pain, stiff neck (torticollis), and tension headaches tend to resolve within three quick rounds of tapping,” she says. “Acute pain and swelling from a contusion, sprain, dental surgery, minor surgery, or from fractures are also excellent candidates for EFT. Some persistence is required, meaning that you might have to tap for five or ten minutes before the pain and swelling go down, but that’s still faster than other treatments. For all types of injury, the overall healing time is greatly reduced."

EFT is a new procedure, but already over 300,000 – including thousands of health care practitioners – have downloaded its free manual from http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwpainreliefcj (http://www. emofree. com/downloadeftmanual. asp? ref=prwpainreliefcj),

And an additional 10,000 download it every month. The manual is available in nine languages, and EFT practitioners around the world, especially in the U. S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia, teach EFT classes and work with clients.

SurePayroll Main Street Insights Survey: Small Business Owners Say TARP is Failing and Insist Tax Cuts are the Right Answer

SurePayroll Main Street Insights Survey: Small Business Owners Say TARP is Failing and Insist Tax Cuts are the Right Answer

Survey shows that nearly three out of four small business owners do not believe the relief program is doing its job and are looking for a different solution from the government

Glenview, IL (PRWEB) February 16, 2009

A survey conducted this month by online payroll service SurePayroll (http://www. surepayroll. com/) found that most small business owners feel the government should be taking a different approach to boost the economy during tough times. According to the results, nearly three out of four small business owners disagree with the way the U. S. government has allocated funds in its Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP), and believe tax cuts would be the ideal solution.

TARP -- approved in 2008 to allocate $700 billion to the United States Department of Treasury to help strengthen the financial sector and mitigate damage from the subprime mortgage crisis -- was deemed effective by only 3 percent of respondents, while 72 percent were clear on their disapproval and 25 percent did not have a strong opinion.

"Small business owners are screaming for a different solution," says SurePayroll President Michael Alter. "They know firsthand the challenges their businesses are facing, and have seen no relief from Washington."

While the small business owners who disapproved blamed a variety of groups and individuals for the mishandling of TARP disbursements, the majority said Congress was primarily at fault. Other respondents singled out U. S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and lobbyists as causing the biggest problems with the program.

-- Most small business owners believe tax cuts are the answer --

When it comes to stimulating the small business economy, the survey found that nearly half of the respondents feel the government should focus on tax cuts.

"Taxes have always been a huge issue for small businesses, and the current economy has amplified it," says Alter. "Because small business owners are so in tune with the finances of their businesses, they tend to look for fast, surefire ways to cut expenses, so tax cuts are naturally an attractive option."

Aside from tax cuts, other popular suggestions for stimulating the small business economy included a massive stimulus program (11 percent), a solution to ease the small business healthcare burden (10 percent) and forcing banks to lend money (9 percent). Specific comments included:
"Let businesses write off capital expenditures right away instead of over a period of years."

"Get out of Iraq ASAP and reallocate wasteful and corrupt military spending to small businesses, healthcare, education and the environment."

"Give all adults and maybe small businesses a $3,000 prepaid check card that must be spent within 45 days."

World Anesthesia Disposables Market to Reach $335 Million by 2015, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

Global general anesthesia disposables market is characterized by a high degree of saturation. Growth is projected to remain sluggish, in wake of minimally invasive technologies fast gaining ground across the world. By the year 2015, global anesthesia disposables market is projected to reach $335 million.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2009

Despite the considerable rise witnessed in general surgical procedures, growing popularity of minimally invasive procedures has mitigated the demand for general and local anesthesia, inhibiting growth in the anesthesia disposables market (http://www. strategyr. com/Anesthesia_Disposables_Market_Report. asp). Plagued by concerns over rising healthcare expenditure, adoption of disposable anesthesia products including Anesthesia Breathing Circuits, Endotracheal Tubes, and Gas Masks is projected to be slow in developed regions.

United States and Europe collectively account for a major share of the worldwide market for anesthesia disposables, as stated in a recent report published by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. Asia-Pacific, with a vast untapped market, holds enormous growth opportunities for anesthesia disposables.

Worldwide Disposable endotracheal tubes market (http://www. strategyr. com/Anesthesia_Disposables_Market_Report. asp) continues to shrink under the growing influence of laryngeal mask airways (LMA). Laryngeal mask airways provide several advantages over endotracheal tubes. In the developed market of the US and Europe, LMA market is primarily driven by increasing preference for disposable laryngeal mask airways. The trend is driven by increasing use of single-use devices in hospitals to reduce cross-contamination and sterilization costs.

Leading players profiled in the report include King Systems Corporation, LMA International N. V., Nellcor, Medline Industries, Inc., Smiths Medical, Inc., Teleflex Medical, Hudson RCI, Rusch Inc., and Vital Signs Inc.

The report titled "Anesthesia Disposables: A Global Strategic Business Report" published by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., covers major market dynamics, trends, issues, and competition pertaining to the market. The report enumerates recent product introductions/innovations, developments, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic industry activities. Product segments analyzed in the study include Anesthesia Breathing Circuits, Endotracheal Tubes, and Anesthesia Gas Masks. Analysis is presented for the time periods 2000-2005 and 2006-2015. Key geographic markets analyzed include the United States, Japan, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Latin America.

The unprecedented media event will provide intimate access to the film's principals: classical music composer and Lincoln Center artist Rob Kapilow, Executive Producer Cynthia Newport, and Director Hugo Perez. The early evening affair will feature a Q & A for press and breakaway sessions for interviews and photo ops, while a high-tech media hub will be available for live video feeds and streaming video interviews for real-time reporting to social media outlets.

According to Native Arts and Culture authority Ken Lingad (Isleta Pueblo), "Summer Sun Winter Moon shreds the pages of textbook history."

Notable highlights include performances by Grammy Award-winning Native American drum group Black Eagle (http://www. blackeaglesingers. com), who will journey from New Mexico's Jemez Pueblo to attend the milestone event. Dressed in their traditional native regalia, the group will create an authentic musical blessing in support and celebration of the controversial documentary film's success.

Cochiti Pueblo Governor John F. Pecos states, "Summer Sun Winter Moon proudly wears the garment of historian as activist-scholar like the regalia of a traditional Native dancer moving to an ancient beat, bringing healing to our people - one people."

The private event is RSVP via email only and limited to members of the press, film trade associates, and bloggers with credentials, and will begin promptly at 6:30 pm in the Furman Gallery at Walter Reade Theater; 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, New York.

Press kits including current biographies, hi-res images, music samples, and HQ Video Trailers (http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=vaEAo3HWhiE) are available for download at the Summer Sun Winter Moon (http://www. summersunwintermoon. com) media hub. Requests for interviews, appearances, and photo ops with the principal filmmakers and talent should be directed via email to Lead PR representative Ken Lingad. Bloggers with credentials and members of press may request a full-length DVD for review.

About Summer Sun Winter Moon:

Summer Sun Winter Moon, the thought-provoking documentary film that exposes viewers to the reality of the American Indian perspective of Lewis and Clark's legendary "Corps of Discovery" mission, is scheduled for primetime broadcast on PBS, November 2009 (check local listings). News releases and recent press engagements about the documentary challenge American audiences to "learn the one, controversial truth" by tuning in to PBS flagship WGBH and other stations throughout the U. S. during National American Indian Heritage Month.

Synopsis:

Rob Kapilow (http://summersunwintermoon. com/biography_robKapilow. htm), a celebrated classical music artist, is commissioned to compose a symphonic work with a specific theme: a reflection of the enduring legacy of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Often referenced as a young Leonard Bernstein, the youthfully energetic Kapilow foregoes his original intent to set the journals of Lewis and Clark to music, choosing to actually re-trace the journey himself as a catalyst for fresh inspiration.

Upon engaging tribal representatives out West in active dialogue about how best to convey their stories, Kapilow finds himself overwhelmed at the crossroads of textbook history and the tangible perspective of the American Indian. Seeking to collaborate with Blackfeet tribal member Darrell Robes Kipp, the innovative artist delves into a sharply alternative - and controversial - avenue of perspective: that of the indigenous storyteller's view "from the river bank, not the boat."

"There's nothing to celebrate here…not for Indian people," says Darrell Robes Kipp, referencing the planned events for the celebration of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial. The co-founder of the Nitzipuahsin Blackfeet Language Immersion School, Kipp is a poet and educator who has been laboring to salvage his native people's language from the brink of near-extinction. Enlisted by Kapilow, Kipp agrees to author the libretto for the symphony project, offering his own hand to the composer who dared to reach across the divide.

Executive Producer Cynthia Newport and award-winning Director Hugo Perez bring to the national viewing audience Summer Sun Winter Moon's inherent declarations of truth, proving to be important and timely in what it tells us about ourselves, about our place in time, and about the choices we have to make moving forward. While there are two sides to every story, viewers are left haunted by the words of two storytellers with one story that can only be interpreted by each individual.

Follow Summer Sun Winter Moon on twitter (http://www. twitter. com/illumeprod) for up-to-date information about film festival screening schedules, sneak previews, artist interviews, and special events featuring the Grammy award-winning Native American group Black Eagle.

Become a fan on Summer Sun Winter Moon's facebook (http://www. facebook. com/pages/Summer-Sun-Winter-Moon/131330638228) page and view additional HQ video footage not seen in the final cut, in addition to the video diary of Jesse DesRosier - an intimate look into the life of a teenage boy who resides on his native Blackfeet reservation. The videos capture the challenges DesRosier faces as a young American Indian who lives in two worlds: modern mid-America and that of his traditional heritage.

New Product Takes User On Indoor Cycling Tour To Natural Locations Across The Globe

New Product Takes User On Indoor Cycling Tour To Natural Locations Across The Globe

Virtual Active and IndoorCycling Group Launch a New Video Concept in Fitness: MyRide Version 3.0 with Virtual Active

San Francisco (PRWEB) September 30, 2010

Virtual Active, in partnership with IndoorCycling Group (ICG), has announced the release of the MyRide Version 3.0, a next-generation media console for indoor cycles, featuring content from Virtual Active - the world leader in virtual-reality exercise.

With a 17" touchscreen and high-definition display, the MyRide is a slick package for fitness media. But what's under the hood is more impressive: over 60 hours of entirely new media content, over one million different workouts, and enough variety to keep cyclists entertained through the longest session.

"It's a stunning display of technology," said John Ford, founder and CEO of Virtual Active. "The console is gorgeous, and the interface is almost as beautiful as our outdoor scenery."

For indoor cyclists, the MyRide v3.0 brings a coached, cycling-class experience under user control and on demand. Users can customize their workouts and get indoor cycling on their own time. With Virtual Active's MyScape, gym-goers can escape to scenic footage from around the world -- biking through the Rockies, the Swiss Alps, or the Mojave desert without leaving the cardio floor. And the two concepts collide in Sportif, the brand-new fitness concept from Virtual Active and ICG. Sportif enhances the ride through Virtual Active's stunning scenery with a workout experience guided and shaped by ICG master trainers.

"Never before has such high-quality outdoor video been welded to our flawless technical coaching and motivation," says Bernd Pürschel, founder and CEO for ICG. "We have a completely new result that will change the indoor cycling experience for the future."

Like the studio classes, the Sportif concept allows users to assemble a custom workout -- choosing difficulty levels by combining warm-ups, intense workouts, and cool-downs, and picking the terrain they prefer. All coached content is available in English, German, and Spanish.

Virtual Active has experienced significant traction in the commercial fitness market. The company's inaugural product, an add-on console to Matrix's 7xe line of cardio equipment, just started shipping internationally with the initial results nothing short of compelling.

"The 7xe console, with Virtual Active by Matrix, has generated enormous enthusiasm with our customers and with our sales team," said Andrew Kolman, senior product manager for Johnson Health Tech. "We're thrilled to start offering this product internationally, and to continue bringing innovative products to the fitness industry."

The MyRide v3.0 and Matrix 7xe are only a start for Virtual Active. The young company has more deals pending, and both Matrix and ICG are hard at work on new concepts incorporating Virtual Active. For Ford and his team at Virtual Active, the future couldn't be brighter.

"We're expanding in multiple directions - laterally by introducing new products, and vertically by continuing to add to our library of content, said Ford. "I want our users to start an endless ride with Virtual Active, and I want to take them everywhere."

The Next Killer App? Santa Cruz Start-Up Develops the Touchstone Wellness Testing Tool

The Next Killer App? Santa Cruz Start-Up Develops the Touchstone Wellness Testing Tool

Allergy and wellness tests food and personal health products through packaging.

Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2006

VitaScans Corporation of Santa Cruz, California (http://www. vitascans. com) announces the TOUCHSTONE VS1, a uniquely pocket-sized microprocessor controlled wellness tool that indicates through a series of red or green or amber lights whether a food, beverage, product or supplement is potentially detrimental, beneficial or neutral.

CEO and co-founder of VitaScans, London-born technologist Peter Mackeonis who was responsible for creating and licensing the AmigaDos on the Commodore Amiga at the beginning of what became the PC Revolution, and backing a number of successful websites during the first phase of the Internet revolution, sees the TOUCHSTONE VS1 as the first in a range of Personal Wellness tools that will change the way that consumers make choices:

Allergies:

“Few people know that they might be unknowingly experiencing mild allergies to various foods and products on a daily basis. Unless a person has paid thousands of dollars to an allergist for a thorough panel, or they are allergic to something obvious like peanuts, there is a great potential for possible allergic reactions. And, that’s not taking into account that many people confuse product purity (ethical testing, etc) with quality. Is it enough to know that bottled water has been filtered, not knowing what toxins it has been filtered for, or whether or not the particular kind of plastic bottle that it comes in has leeched into the water during storage and causing an allergy issue for the consumer. Potential for allergies is everywhere and, therefore, so is a need for personal allergy testing. A good example might be that a high tannin or sulfite content of a particular wine might give a particular person who loves that particular wine, a headache; The TOUCHSTONE VS1 could well identify this wine as troublesome for that consumer,” he concluded.

VitaScans suggests that if, after testing with the TOUCHSTONE VS1, a person finds that they are allergic to a particular food or product that they really enjoy and do not want to give up, they should take it to their allergist and have it tested, or write to the company that produces the product and ask if they have had any complaints.

Mackeonis continued, "We firmly believe that the consumer needs at least one tool to help them navigate their way through the minefield of the many and varied foods, beverages and products that are available today.” Asked whether he could envisage consumers testing products in grocery stores, he responded, “Why not, people squeeze avocados, tap on melons and read labels, so, hopefully the TOUCHSTONE VS1 will give them some additional insight.”

Vitamin Supplements May Not Always Be Needed:

The TOUCHSTONE VS1 can also indicate whether a person need not take a particular vitamin supplement. According to Mackeonis, “It is likely that, if a person drinks a pint of orange juice with their breakfast or lunch, it may provide all the vitamin C that the body needs for that day, so a vitamin C supplement may not be needed that day. Likewise, other foods may provide other natural vitamins, I so if a person was to duplicate their intake of vitamins by taking supplements, they could be spending money on expensive supplements unnecessarily. Also, inactivity, a stringent work-out, or illness can vary a person’s daily needs, and our studies suggest that the TOUCHSTONE VS1 can show what those changing needs are,” concluded Mackeonis.

Personal Wellness Tools:

VitaScans plans to launch a number of Personal Wellness tools over the next three years, incorporating variations of sound and light manipulation. These machines, including the TOUCHSTONE VS1 will retail for less than $150.00.

The TOUCHSTONE VS1:

weighs about three ounces fits easily into a pocket or handbag has five personal strength levels is an ergonomic 2.5 inch disk comes in a muslin drawstring pouch is powered by two long-life batteries automatically turns off if not used for for 30 seconds is RoHs compatible

Retailing at $149.95, The TOUCHSTONE VS1 can be ordered direct from http://www. VitaScans. com and a healthcare professional discount is available at the site at: http://vitascans. com/healthcareorder. htm

Schneiderman, a principal with NAI/Merin Hunter Codman who advised on the transaction for G4S Wackenhut and exclusively oversees all leasing for the firm's U. S. locations, which numbers in excess of 100. "It's a win-win. The new G4S Wackenhut headquarters will be by the corner of Parkside Drive and University Boulevard in Abacoa. The Building will be adjacent to an existing parking garage that will be able to accommodate all of Wackenhut's 200+ area employees with covered parking. A new Courtyard by Marriott hotel is also being developed on University Boulevard and is expected to host many Wackenhut clients and out-of-area employees. Roger Dean Stadium, the spring training baseball stadium, is also just a few hundred yards away on the same street.

Rendina Companies will develop the G4S Wackenhut headquarters, which will feature green specifications aimed at energy efficiency and a low carbon footprint. The facility, when complete, will house G4S Wackenhut's sales and technology centers, the G4S North American Training Institute and business units that focus on international accounts and regulated security. G4S Wackenhut will be relocating from its current headquarters location in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, by I-95.

Said Drew Levine, President of G4S Wackenhut North America, "There were a lot of moving parts in this transaction, but NAI/Merin Hunter Codman did a highly efficient and professional job of aligning all interests in order to make this deal a reality. Some professionals see the current times as challenging for real estate deals, but Bob A. Schneiderman helped us realize that there are also great opportunities right now."

Mr. Schneiderman represents G4S Wackenhut on all expansion, relocations and lease renewals for its U. S. locations. Of the Abacoa property he adds, "This will be an exciting change for employees who will soon be able to enjoy the amenities of a pedestrian-friendly town center environment." Schneiderman also points out that employees will have a range of housing options in the immediate area from apartments for sale for just over $75,000, up to million-dollar luxury homes available. There is also an abundance of A-rated schools in the vicinity.

(PRWEB) September 22, 2004

Have you ever seen a person with missing teeth or with teeth of any other color than pure white? What did you think of his/her appearance? You could face a similar situation if you did not have a dental insurance or a proper dental care plan. Remember, keeping your teeth healthy is important for your looks and image.

More importantly, according to the first-ever Surgeon General's Report on Oral Health in America published in 2000, poor care of your mouth and teeth can affect your general health and well-being throughout your life. Although many would prefer to take the observation casually, this is something everyone needs to face up to even if it means reducing or giving up some of your favorite pass times like use of tobacco and consumption of alcohol or switching over to better dietary habits.

Significantly, everyone recognizes the need for medical insurances to ensure access to good health care, but too often good dental care is neglected because of the lack of dental insurance. Many people overlook, or just cannot afford, regular check-ups and early treatments. However, if you wait until a dental problem is serious; it's bound to cost you more both in terms of dollars and your oral health. Don't be one of them who have learnt it the hard way that a hole in the tooth can put a bigger hole in the wallet.

We all are aware of the fact that dental insurance provides us with an effective way to manage the rising costs of dental care, and removes many of the excuses we all come up with for why not to see a dentist. Most of us also know that dental plans usually cover a wide range of services, including preventive care, emergency care, and procedures such as crowns, root canals, bridge prosthetic, orthodontics, oral surgery, and more. However, what most people are still ignorant about is discount dental plans.

Discount dental plans that are being offered by some of the companies across the world are being considered as a viable alternative to dental indemnity policies. These companies have thousands of listed dentists and offer a wide range of services, including dental treatment, insurance and even forethought on issues related to teeth problems at affordable prices in most cities and towns. Once you enroll as a member of any of these plans, you are entitled to all kinds of dental consultancy and treatment from the listed dentists for a period of time at a discounted cost. If you are a member of such a dental plan, it is likely that you will see the dentist sooner upon discovering some tooth pain, which can end up saving you a lot of pain and money in the long run.

So why wait till you really wither owing to tooth ache? Friends don't let friends loose their teeth and get ugly, so make sure you and everybody you care about gets a proper discount dental plan before it's too late! Log on to Dental-Plans-America. com.
