“Unique & Unusual Gift Show” Attracts Unique Merchandise and Services

“Unique & Unusual Gift Show” Attracts Unique Merchandise and Services

Entrepreneur Sandy Rogers hosts free gift show at Double Tree Paradise Valley Resort, Nov. 29

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) November 26, 2009

Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, begins the annual shopping frenzy to find holiday gifts at drastically reduced prices. The holiday season officially begins and so does the search to find what shoppers consider to be the “perfect” gifts for the special people in their lives. A one-day “Unique & Unusual Gift Show” will take place this Sunday, November 29, from 10 am to 5 pm, with the intention of assisting shoppers with their holiday shopping, especially those looking for the unique and unusual. Sandy Rogers CNP (Certified Networker Professional), along with 24 sponsors and over 50 vendors, will be hosting the event in the Grand Ballroom of the DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort, 5401 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scottsdale.

“The Show was inspired by my desire to stimulate business for independent business owners and entrepreneurs who are out to make a difference,” says Rogers. “I awoke one morning with the idea of a “mall without walls”, where businesses could set up in a comfortable, indoor space without a long lease or a huge financial investment; and shoppers could be exposed to merchandise and artisans they wouldn’t typically find in a mall.” Rogers, also known as the “Referral Queen”, owns a home-based marketing company, where she consults with small business owners and teaches them how to be efficient, productive networkers. She has also produced such health fairs as the Phoenix Holistic Health Expo three years in a row, as well as the Integrated Health and Fitness Expo.

Networking their way into the hearts of Valley shoppers this Sunday will be Eleanor Joseph Confections selling gourmet natural chocolate truffles and wine pairing medallions; Elizabeth Dunlop Studios selling watercolors, acrylics, copper and fused glass products; Gorgeous Goddess Wear with clothing and accessories from around the globe; ChickBait, with stylish jewelry, usually available in upscale boutiques; Skies of Blue Design, selling handcrafted porcelain wind chimes and pottery; It works, with health, beauty, detox and weight-loss products; Scentsy Wickless Candles selling wickless candles and scented warmers; and many more. Also available will be Native American flutes and music; custom-designed jewelry; skin care gift baskets; inspirational books; an astrologer and spiritual medium; and chair massages and waxing sessions. A personal trainer will also be presenting the Ultimate Body Bootcamp, the unique rapid weight loss bootcamp for those desiring to lose weight fast. Merchandise, services and gift certificates will be available from a wide variety of vendors.

Rogers has donated a booth to Gabriel’s Angels, a non-profit pet therapy organization that exposes abused, neglected and at risk children to the unconditional love of dogs. Each dog goes through a rigorous training to ensure their appropriateness for the task. Therapy dogs are welcomed at crisis nurseries, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters and group homes for teenagers.

Last year, Gabriel’s Angels touched the lives of 12,000 abused and neglected kids throughout Maricopa County and Tucson. They currently have 100 therapy teams working in 90 agencies. That isn’t enough to meet current needs, however, as there are 25,000 children that could benefit from the service today, with a waiting list of a dozen un-serviced facilities.

In Arizona alone, a child is abused or neglected every hour of every day. Gabriel’s Angels believes that the bond between a therapy dog and a child is strong enough to virtually break the cycle of violence in a child’s life. The organization relies completely on donor support. Therapy dogs and gifts for pets will be at Sunday’s Gift Show.

A real bearded Santa Claus and genuine elves will also be present—along with photos with the kids. Paul Raines is not your typical mall Santa, but is known as the “real deal” Santa, and travels throughout the U. S. spreading his cheer and “Ho, Ho, Ho’s”.

Park and Ride services will be located at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church located at 7655 E. Main Street (off Miller, just south of Indian School) in Scottsdale, 10 minutes from the Show. Visitors will be transported by a real double-decker London bus to the DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort. The bus ride and Unique & Unusual Gift Show entrance are free.

“It’s what I love doing,” states Rogers, “connecting people and businesses, and teaching others how to become great connectors, too.”

Connecticut-Based Insurance Agency Helps Clients Exercise Wellness Options

Connecticut-Based Insurance Agency Helps Clients Exercise Wellness Options

The HealthConsultants Group works directly with regional companies to help them institute effective insurance solutions for their employees. The resulting intimate expertise with employee benefits translates into HCG having strong data that enables the staff to coach companies in Wellness solutions for workers at all levels. So, when DATTCO, a large, family-owned and operated bus company based in New Britain, Connecticut, expressed concern about the health of their employees, HCG drew up a winning game plan to beat the problem. A Biggest Loser competition. • Out of a total of 1400 employees, 185—or 13 percent—participated in the competition. • Over the eight week contest, participants lost a total of 915 pounds of body weight and 461 pounds of fat mass. • Most importantly, more than 85 percent of participants moved towards a healthier body mass index (BMI).

Hartford, CT (PRWEB) November 18, 2010

Consulting agencies often help companies succeed by cutting waste. The HealthConsultants Group, LLC (HCG) recently bolstered a firm's productivity by reducing waists.

As President of HCG— the northeast’s premier employee benefits company—Brien Beakey and his staff see fostering employee wellness as a perfect way to balance the scales between company success and worker satisfaction: As employees' weight, stress and health problems go down, company productivity and employee morale go way up.

Beakey and his staff work directly with regional companies to help them institute effective insurance solutions for their employees.

“We presented DATTCO the Biggest Loser competition,” says Laure Welch, Wellness Life Coach for HCG “We were thrilled when the employees strongly embraced the competition. Employees registered for the program at the end of July and 19 teams of up to 10 people each competed. The program began with a health screening for all participants. “We sat with each individual and reviewed their body composition and analysis results. I discussed various ways to introduce some basic nutritional strategies which in turn build good habits,” says Welch. “All participants were very eager to begin implementing these Wellness strategies.”

The competition officially kicked off August 9th and ran through October 4th, with weigh-in sessions taking place every four weeks. Welch and company crunched each participant’s numbers at the weigh-ins, then steered and cheered them toward greater success by providing one-on-one feedback and tips for improvement. Welch bridged the gaps between these in-person weigh-in sessions by sending employee participants motivational emails and health tips every week. Welch also approached meal planning in a realistic and manageable manner.

“Many DATTCO employees are on the road all day, so rather than providing a meal plan that could be difficult to follow, we provided meal replacement options.” said Welch. "Along with general ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, the program provided specific options for their favorite fast food spots. It was unrealistic to say don’t eat McDonald's, instead, if you are going to go to McDonald's, make your choice from one of these five options.”

A recent Indiana University/Purdue study showed that 87.5 percent of a company’s health care expenses are directly related to employees' lifestyles. The lack of a healthy body composition puts people at an increased risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, type-2 diabetes and colon cancer, as well as a host of other health problems.

Knowing how to control these factors provide HCG with a one-two punch that helps knock-out excess health care costs and absenteeism. This, in turn, bolsters a company’s efficiency and success. Carleen Keith, Human Resources Coordinator for DATTCO, saw the results first hand. “We know healthier employees have less stress, better productivity and have excellent attendance records. It was amazing how quickly we noticed higher morale. The success of our employees was highly attributed to the skills, knowledge and the personalized approach that Laure utilized with each person.”

BY THE NUMBERS:
Out of a total of 1400 employees, 185—or 13 percent—participated in the competition.  Over the eight week contest, participants lost a total of 915 pounds of body weight and 461 pounds of fat mass.  Most importantly, more than 85 percent of participants moved towards a healthier body mass index (BMI).

“Many of the participants have made permanent lifestyle changes, one has even stopped smoking,” says Welch. “The results were amazing. I was truly honored to work with DATTCO to reach their goals. We are an employee benefits provider committed to making a healthy difference for businesses and individuals. DATTCO proved that Wellness Programs are not just good for employees, they are good for business.”

National Institute for Trial Advocacy Launches Divorce Advocacy Program

National Institute for Trial Advocacy Launches Divorce Advocacy Program

Modern Divorce Advocacy course marks NITA’s first foray into family law

Louisville, Colo. (PRWEB) October 16, 2006

The National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), recognized for more than 35 years as the nation’s leading provider of litigation skills training, today announced it is launching a new client advocacy initiative that employs NITA’s established learning-by-doing teaching techniques to train lawyers and other professionals to effectively represent clients throughout a divorce process. This innovative program marks NITA’s inaugural leap into mediation representation specifically for family law disputes.

“Divorce is such a multifaceted issue. There are complex ethical, financial and psychological components that attorneys, mediators, psychologists and financial experts must first understand in order to successfully advocate for affected clients,” program director and instructor Andrew Schepard said. “Whether in the courtroom or the mediation room, NITA’s experiential training methodology will prepare practitioners serving divorce clients for elements such as the presence of children, continuing relationships between spouses after divorce and the intense emotions that are unique to the marital dissolution process.”

The Modern Divorce Advocacy course will focus on direct and cross-examination of a court-appointed mental health expert in a custody dispute, as well as negotiation and client advocacy in mediation sessions. Participants in the course develop a theory of the case in consultation with mental health experts. They conduct direct and cross-examination of expert witnesses, develop a plan for and counsel clients in anticipation of negotiation and mediation and negotiate and represent a client within a mediation session. Participants will also examine the ethical dilemmas lawyers face when representing divorce clients. Program faculty includes experienced divorce lawyers and psychologists who serve as expert witnesses and mediators. The Modern Divorce Advocacy program will take place at St. John’s University - Manhattan Campus on November 17-19. Tuition is $1,495.

About the Instructor

Andrew Schepard is a Professor of Law at Hofstra University School of Law and Director of the Northeast Deposition Program. He has been a consultant to the New York State Law Revision Commission on child custody law, and is a founder of Parent Education and Custody Effectiveness (P. E.A. C.E.), an educational program for divorcing parents. Schepard writes the Law and Children column for the New York Law Journal, is Director of Hofstra University’s Center for Children, Families and the Law and edits the Family Court Review. Schepard was awarded the 1994 Chair's Cup of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association for meritorious service to the profession. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute and the American Bar Foundation. Schepard is a long-time NITA Program Director.

If the toxins are allowed to accumulate in the body and do not get eliminated, the result is an overloaded and stressed out body which will continue to show symptoms of not being well. Much can be done in the area of controlling what is consumed.

Sandra Kim Leong said, "I am appalled by the garbage that we put into our stomachs. It is no wonder that our organs start to break down as they are being overloaded by toxins. More has to be done to aid our organs do the job of eliminating the waste that has accumulated in our bodies over the years."

The Facts Anti-tan Lobbyists DonÂ’t Want You to Know

The Facts Anti-tan Lobbyists DonÂ’t Want You to Know

The Associated Press released an article about the findings of the WomenÂ’s Lifestyle and Health Cohort Study that took place in Norway and Sweden. This study falsely claims that malignant melanoma can be directly linked to sun bed use. Planet Beach would like you provide some little known facts about the truth behind this study.

(PRWEB) October 17, 2003

The Associated Press released an article today about the findings of the WomenÂ’s Lifestyle and Health Cohort Study that took place in Norway and Sweden. This study falsely claims that malignant melanoma can be directly linked to sun bed use. Please take a moment consider the following:

• Melanoma mortality rates among women under 50, under 40, under 30 and under 20 have DECREASED in the past 30 years according to the National Cancer Institute's own data. This would not be possible if melanoma incidence were truly increasing. Dr. Robert Swerlick, M. D., and Dr. Suephy Chen, M. D., wrote in a 1997 paper, published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings, that "The large increase in the diagnosis of melanoma without commensurate increases in advanced tumors and mortality are not compatible with presumed malignant behavior on thin melanomas... little available evidence suggests the presence of an actual increase in the frequency of biologically malignant tumors.”

• This study, like many others on the topic, did not account for confounding variables such as outdoor exposure to sunlight, childhood sunburns, type of tanning equipment utilized and duration and quantity of exposure.

• This study cannot be applied to the North American population. Scandinavians, as a culture, are fair-skinned sun worshippers whose sun exposure patterns are highly intermittent. That combination makes them highly susceptible to sunburn - much more so than the North American population. In addition, European studies on this topic do not account for regulations in place in the United States governing maximum exposure times for people of all skin types.(© 2002 the International Smart Tan Network)

Abuse of anything will pose certain risks; abuse of the sun is no exception. This is why tanning at a reputable indoor tanning salon like Planet Beach is the “smart” way to tan. Customers are not only educated on how to tan indoors but also how to avoid sunburn outdoors, how to use appropriate sunscreens and how to properly moisturize their skin.

Planet Beach Franchising Corporation is the EarthÂ’s largest and fastest growing tanning salon franchise. Since opening in 1995 in New Orleans, LA, Planet Beach has gone on to award more than 400 locations and serve over 260,000 clients throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. New Medical Management Firm Lets Doctors Focus on their Practice (and their Putting)

New Medical Management Firm Lets Doctors Focus on their Practice (and their Putting)

Breakthrough Medical Management is a full service medical practice management firm dedicated to providing doctors with expert business support. Breakthrough makes doctors more efficient, saves them money and lifts their administrative burden.

Kennesaw, GA (PRWEB) March 22, 2010 –

No doctor enjoys tricky, time-consuming administrative work. Insurance issues, patient billing and reimbursement processing are all necessary, but they all take valuable time and attention away from practicing the art of medicine. Now, Breakthrough Medical Management (http://www. breakthroughmedicalmanagement. com (http://www. breakthroughmedicalmanagement. com)) is a firm offering a full set of expert services that let doctors be doctors.

"To All the Many Doctors across America: Remember, do what you do best and outsource the rest,” said Shena C. Atchison, owner of Breakthrough Medical Management. “My services are ideal for doctors fresh off their internships and beginning a brand new practice. I can make sure your billing and reimbursement services are set up correctly from the very start.”

Atchison is an expert with more than 20 years medical insurance/claims experience at a major health insurance carrier. She has developed the deep and specialized knowledge vital to support medical practices. Her knowledge is buttressed by an exceptionally important skill set, including attention to detail, organization, and the importance of timeliness. Anyone can provide billing support services, but unless they have specialized medical expertise and an unfailing work ethic, they are very likely to make mistakes costly to a doctor’s practice.

Breakthrough Medical Management provides a comprehensive set of services designed to fully support a medical practice. Atchison’s one stop shop includes:
1. Complete patient record setup
2. Electronic and Manual medical claims filing
3. Patient billing
4. Claims posting and patient record updating
5. Collection services
6. Complete Practice Analysis
7. Assistance in negotiating health care providers
8. Volume Discounting

All these services have one thing in common – they lower doctor’s costs. An in-house billing department gets paid no matter how many claims are denied. Breakthrough gets paid in direct relation to how much they collect. Furthermore, while an in-house billing department must shoulder compliance costs on their own, Breakthrough can spread compliance costs over multiple clients, lowering costs for each.

While Breakthrough offers a one-stop shop, they do not offer one size fits all services. Atchison will thoroughly consult with medical professionals to devise a uniquely tailored plan aimed at making them efficient. Some doctors may need every service, others just a few. Any doctor can pick and choose and use only the services they want.

“With Medicare cuts, insurances paying less, costs rising, seeing more patients is as important as ever. Handing these functions over to an outside medical billing service can free up staff to perform other essential operations that sometimes get pushed aside,” said Atchison. “Likewise, outsourcing can also prevent your billing, collections, and follow up from being pushed aside as so often happens when the office gets busy.”

Breakthrough Medical Management (http://www. breakthroughmedicalmanagement. com (http://www. breakthroughmedicalmanagement. com)) is currently up and running on the East Coast and will be opening on the West Coast on June 1, 2010.

David Kary, CEO of rippt. com announces another groundbreaking article. This piece concerns Spyware eradication and good Microsoft Windows health. The article may be viewed at www. rippt. com/windowsfix. htm.

Glen Cove, NY (PRWEB) October 31, 2005

David Kary who recently announced Kary's Law, now shares a powerful piece of information about Windows and Spyware which will hopefully capture the attention of Microsoft.

Microsoft Windows performance unfortunately degrades over time. Because of this concern, there are many companies that provide automated tools to keep Windows running at peak performance. These tools work fairly well, but there is ONE PROCEDURE which has the horsepower to return the PC back to it's new, out-of-the-box running condition. This process is the FULL SYSTEM REINSTALL. Please view the article which outlines this process at www. rippt. com/windowsfix. htm (http://www. rippt. com/windowsfix. htm ).

Spyware has long been the biggest threat to computers, even eclipsing that of spam. Spyware, as we know, is a type of virus that hackers attach to web pages. When these web pages are acccessed by end users, spyware can secretly be installed unbeknownst to the end user, and thus cause significant damage. Examples of such damage are stolen passwords, stolen credit card numbers, and numerous pop-up advertisments. As said previously, a full system reinstall of Microsoft Windows returns system functionality more effectively than anti-spyware software.

As a reiteration of Kary's Law, this new article continues to stress the importance of PC maintenance and monitoring. www. rippt. com CEO David Kary likes to compare PC maintenance with that of automobile maintenance. "The need for automobile maintenance created a thriving industry, most vehicle owners are diligent in keeping up with oil changes, air tire pressure and the like" says David Kary. "It is unfortunate that PC owners to not appear to do the same with their computers, at least to the degree that they should. Many computer problems would not exist if these simple steps were taken periodically".

For proof and validation of these claims, please visit this website, where this story was originally picked up.

World's Longest Prostate Cancer Cure Rates Published at Clinical Oncology Meeting

World's Longest Prostate Cancer Cure Rates Published at Clinical Oncology Meeting

A long-term study revealing the longest reported Prostate Cancer Cure Rates in the world has been presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in Orlando, last week.

Sarasota, Florida (PRWEB) March 6, 2009

Prostate Cancer Cure Rates are very important to most patients. "Long-term outcomes for patients with prostate cancer having intermediate and high-risk disease treated with brachytherapy and supplemental conformal radiation" reports an astonishing 16-year Prostate Cancer Cure Rate, was presented by radiation oncologist and principal investigator Michael J. Dattoli, MD.

The study on Prostate Cancer Cure Rates consists of a group of 321 patients treated by Dr. Dattoli between 1992 and 1997, each of whom was diagnosed with prostate cancer categorized as at either intermediate-risk or high-risk of extra-capsular extension." 157 patients were categorized as intermediate-risk; 164 were high-risk. The stratification conforms to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (http://www. nccn. org (http://www. nccn. org)) guidelines and is of importance because it defines whether the cancer cells are at risk of having spread beyond the prostate gland, making "cure" by traditional surgical approaches virtually impossible.

These patients were treated with combination radiation therapy, a protocol for which Dattoli has been a noted pioneer. In the Prostate Cancer Cure Rates Study, the men were first treated with daily 3-D conformal pelvic radiation, followed by palladium-103 brachytherapy (seed implant) using generous margins.

Cure, defined as "actuarial freedom from biochemical (disease) progression" was found to be 82% at 16 years (89% for intermediate-risk patients; 74% for high-risk).

"The Prostate Cancer Cure Rates Study is encouraging for any man with intermediate or high-risk disease," notes Dattoli, "as it confirms that combination, brachytherapy-based treatment regimes have proven to be effective options for these patients. These results are far superior to any reported with surgery (traditional or robotic) or with any other treatment options, with far less risk of the complications of erectile dysfunction or incontinence."

Dattoli, and partner Richard Sorace, MD, at the Dattoli Cancer Centers & Brachytherapy Research Institute in Sarasota, Florida, have been perfecting the combination treatment protocol for over 20 years. "With the greatly advanced focal radiation technology we now have, we are confident that men - especially those with very aggressive disease - are seeing superior results to even those reported in this Prostate Cancer Cure Rates Study," Dattoli adds.

Look-back studies, such as this one, take many years to complete but are the foundation for progress in this field. "Our commitment to continuing the research and publishing these peer-reviewed studies is what will bring longer life and higher quality of life to prostate cancer patients in the future," Dattoli states.

Already the extreme and often damaging radical surgery of the past 20 years is disappearing, as men now have proven options that defeat the cancer and preserve the quality of their lives after prostate cancer.

U. S. FDA Adds 25 New Firms to Import Alert for Promotion of Unapproved New Drugs According to FDAImports. com, LLC

U. S. FDA Adds 25 New Firms to Import Alert for Promotion of Unapproved New Drugs According to FDAImports. com, LLC

Over 300 foreign manufacturers have been placed on the Import Alert #66-41 “Red List”, charged with promoting unapproved drugs to people in the U. S. A company is placed on IA 66-41 when FDA believes it is marketing an unapproved drug by mail order, when FDA field agents determine that the product represents a health fraud, or when the product represents a direct or indirect health risk. On March 11, 2010 U. S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) re-published Import Alert #66-41, which indicates that 25 firms have been added to the Red List since January 1, 2010.

Columbia, MD (Vocus) May 14, 2010

On May 11, 2010, U. S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) re-published Import Alert (http://www. fdaimports. com/) #66-41, ''Detention Without Physical Examination of Unapproved New Drugs Promoted In The U. S.'' (IA 66-41). The Alert indicates that FDA has added 25 firms to the Red List since January 1, 2010. FDA enforces laws and regulations related to new drug approvals; FDA often applies these laws to dietary supplements, dietary ingredients and even to cosmetics. According to Benjamin L. England (http://www. fdaimports. com/England. php), of FDAImports. com, LLC (http://www. fdaimports. com/index. php), “Generally, FDA won’t allow unapproved drugs into the U. S. at all. FDA may exercise some discretion for personal use in certain circumstances…but they are not required to do so. In this alert they are trying to stem the tide of the marketing of unapproved drugs targeting U. S. citizens… companies are trying to exploit the existence of the exception. But FDA is also starting to enforce against products that the importer or shipper thinks are dietary supplements or cosmetics.”

Shipments sent by companies on IA 66-41 will be detained by Customs at the Port of Entry without inspection. FDA considers promotion of unapproved drugs by mail order solicitations, press releases, advertising materials and other public announcements to be evidence of a violation. “If the public knows anything about FDA, they know that it is the agency that approves drugs,'' stated Mr. England (http://www. fdaimports. com/England. php). ''FDA’s ability to enforce in this area is key to their legitimacy in the public eye and political arena. Companies that try to circumvent their (FDA’s) authority over drugs can face the strongest penalties.”

FDA surveillance and enforcement over imported products has been increasing for two consecutive years. Even though the economy is weak and tax revenues are down, Congress increased FDA’s budget appropriation by 20% this year and the current administration has proposed an additional 19% for 2011. A significant portion of FDA’s budget is being devoted to drug safety enforcement. This is evidenced by FDA’s addition of 25 companies to this IA 66-41 in the first 5 months of 2010.

Is your firm one of the many that has been subject to placement on the Red List of IA 66-41? Do you currently have shipments that have been detained for alleged violations? Are you concerned about your firm’s FDA compliance? FDAImports. com, LLC can show you ''the way through.'' FDAImports. com, LLC (http://www. fdaimports. com/index. php) is a consulting firm that can help you avoid violating FDA regulations, as well as help you correct violations that have already caused your firm to be placed on Import Alert #66-41. FDAImports. com, LLC can get your products back on the market! Don’t let FDA shut down your operations. FDAImports. com urges manufacturers to contact them promptly for advice to your specific situation regarding any of the above mentioned circumstances.

Xinify Announces Specialized Project Management Talent Service for PPM Project Managers are Thoroughly Vetted, Trained and Coached to Lead Client Projects

Xinify Technologies, Inc. announces its unique staff augmentation service, Xinify Project Management Practice, serving the critical needs of enterprise IT (EIT) divisions that use CA Clarity, across a wide range of industries that includes automotive, financial services, insurance, health care, entertainment and high-tech.

San Ramon, CA (PRWEB) February 5, 2008

Xinify Technologies, Inc. announces its unique staff augmentation service, Xinify Project Management Practice, serving the critical needs of enterprise IT (EIT) divisions that use CA Clarity, across a wide range of industries that includes automotive, financial services, insurance, health care, entertainment and high-tech.

Xinify's existing portfolio of services already includes highly-trained project management consultants for implementation and maintenance projects, but Xinify found that their clients using CA Clarity need project managers with deep project management and business soft skills training, targeted business area experience and industry knowledge, which requires a new, specialized talent service.

Every IT division in every industry is faced with the persistent challenge of finding and retaining top-notch project managers able to successfully guide enterprise-wide projects and gather critical data to drive accurate, proactive decisions throughout a project's life cycle.

Even more challenging is finding fully qualified project managers with deep CA Clarity expertise capable of accurately gathering the data that drives a company's decision-making process. To fulfill this critical need, Xinify now offers Project Management Practice, providing highly trained, specialized talent for their clients, specifically trained in CA Clarity as well as in the principles of project management and coached in key business skills.

Xinify partners with each client to fully understand their organizational, staffing and project needs. As part of the initial needs assessment, Xinify can perform a thorough evaluation of existing project management aptitude and provide a staffing plan and training recommendations that will allow a client to build out a fully-capable, robust PM team. To help staff that team, Xinify then recruits candidates to begin the screening and placement process.

Once PM candidates are fully screened through a comprehensive background check (including qualification and experience verification), they receive world-class training in project management skills through Xinify's PM Boot Camp, which includes thorough training in EPM tools --- CA Clarity, Open Workbench, Microsoft Project, as well as risk assessment, risk mitigation planning, resource scheduling and budget management. This ensures candidates have a solid foundation of fundamental skills as they receive CA Clarity and specialized training for a client's project.

With PM Boot Camp completed candidates then receive mentoring and coaching in business soft skills -- an increasingly important component in successful PM placements. Soft skill training covers areas such as communication, negotiation, managing stress, client management, conflict resolution and leadership.

After candidates are placed, Xinify maintains regular check-ins with clients and continues to coach and mentor each project manager to ensure exceptional performance throughout their engagements. Xinify's PM Boot Camp and their sustained level of mentoring and ongoing training is a one-of-a-kind service offered only by Xinify's Project Management Practice.

Rich Guard, Program Director for the Project Management Practice said, "Unlike staff placement-only project management solutions, Xinify's Project Management Practice combines the verification of Project Management certification and experience with extensive training led by experienced professional project managers. Xinify's training is followed by a series of one-on-one mentor/coaching sessions facilitated by an experienced mentor coach in which PM principles along with CA Clarity, Microsoft Project, and Open Workbench techniques and tips are interwoven with coaching on soft skills such as, team-building, influence and inspiration, motivation, communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, decision-making, ownership and commitment, and execution. Our program ensures clients receive the very best project managers that will help drive their EPM business and achieve results every time."

Noland Eidsmoe, Xinify's Senior Vice President for North America Client Services added, "For Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) organizations that have adopted a fixed/variable staffing model that reflects a mix of full-time staff and contingent PM talent, finding a dependable reserve of project management staff is invaluable. For CIO's, Application Development Directors and PMO Directors who need an extraordinarily reliable source of talented Project Managers, Xinify's Project Management Practice provides a source of vetted and certified PMs who are experienced in a broad array of industries and large variety enterprise-wide applications."

Knee and Joint Health Website Braces for Impact of New Fitness Blog

Knee and Joint Health Website Braces for Impact of New Fitness Blog

KneeAndJointBracesOnline. com is an unknown website that has been helping people keep moving and build strength since March of 2005. Founded by fitness aficionado Alma Newton, the website's newest feature is a fitness blog which seeks to spread the word about knee and joint health, and educate others on how to remain mobile throughout their lives.

Calgory, AB (PRWEB) September 10, 2009

Alma Newton, founder of www. KneeAndJointBracesOnline. com, has long emphasized the importance of keeping in shape, and after participating in a 42K marathon, decided she wanted to become more involved in promoting fitness.

"I'm not all that interested in extreme sports or muscle toning, but being mobile is very important to me," said Newton. "As we age, it's much harder to be mobile because of problems with our knees and joints."

Newton created her website to address knee and joint issues with both a reactive and preventative approach. The website boasts an impressive collection of knee and joint braces, products for back and foot support and fitness aids and equipment. In addition, Newton plans to expand the website in the near future.

"I've just recently added some new fitness equipment including treadmills, mini trampolines and elliptical machines," said Newton. "This equipment is great for the home gym, and I'm planning to add more equipment for strengthening and building muscle soon."

From her own fitness experiences, Newton believes she has valuable insights to share with others, and seeks to do so through her new blog at www. SpeakingOfJointsAndFitness. com.

"I plan to use the blog to talk about ways people can improve their joint flexibility with Yoga and Tai chi, and discuss what braces and support equipment can help," said Newton. "I also want the blog to work like a support forum where people can post questions about fitness that I will respond to."

For people who have joint pain or stiffness due to arthritis, nerve deterioration, stroke or injury, Newton's website is the perfect place to start. "I just want to help people stay active and retain their mobility well into old age," added Newton.

HP and CoSign Digital Signatures Make Migration to Electronic Document Management Practical

HP and CoSign Digital Signatures Make Migration to Electronic Document Management Practical

HP, a cutting-edge global technology company, and ARX, a leading provider of digital signature (standard electronic signature) solutions, today announced the launch of a co-initiative designed to both assist companies migrating from paper to Enterprise Content Management Solutions (ECM), and help them avoid reintroduction of paper into workflow processes.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 5, 2008

HP, a cutting-edge global technology company, and ARX, a leading provider of digital signature (standard electronic signature) solutions, today announced the launch of a co-initiative designed to both assist companies migrating from paper to Enterprise Content Management Solutions (ECM), and help them avoid reintroduction of paper into workflow processes.

The challenge facing companies that transition from a paper-based system to an ECM, is the inability to make the change instantly, as many mission-critical documents and workflows throughout an organization need to remain in their paper or manual form for a transition period. However, paper documents can begin a migration to an ECM using scanners, without any interruption to mission critical processes. Yet, even in this scenario, paper is reintroduced into the workflow when documents require signatures during collaboration and approval processes.

The HP and ARX co-initiative utilizes HP document management scanners and eliminates the need to reintroduce paper documents into the workflow for signatures by featuring ARX's CoSign®, a digital signature solution that signs and seals electronic documents. CoSign closes the final gap in the paperless cycle by eliminating the need to reprint documents for signing. The co-initiative combines the high-end capabilities of HP's full-duplex, sheet-feed scanning, with CoSign's ability to sign scanned images and popular document formats including: Microsoft® Word, Excel®, Outlook®, Adobe® PDF, TIFF, AutoCAD®, InfoPath®, Lotus Forms, and many more (http://www. arx. com/products/cosign_faq. php#ApplicationSupport)).

According to John Marchioni, VP of Business Development, Americas, ARX, "Digital signatures are gaining momentum in the marketplace, and a co-initiative with a company like HP conveys that reality and further validates CoSign's ability to expedite business processes and reduce costs, while maintaining document integrity as business documents and processes are transformed from paper to an electronic form."

Von Hansen, Vice President and General Manager (Business Inkjet and Scanning, Imaging and Printing Group) for HP explained, "HP is pleased with the opportunity to work with ARX, a key player in digital signature solutions. This co-initiative allowed us to effortlessly couple our feature-rich scanners with CoSign's comprehensive resolution to enhancing workflow within an ECM."

HP and ARX will be holding a series of joint webinars for value-added resellers (VARs), detailing the solution that the co-initiative provides for companies migrating to electronic document management systems. The webinars will take place quarterly in 2008, starting Wednesday, March 12th 10AM CST.

Visit ARX at booth #3241 at the AIIM International Conference & Exposition and learn how digital signatures can secure the data integrity and non-repudiation of documents generated by your business.

The opening of the School of Business and Student Support Services Building heralds the start of an exciting future filled with opportunities for students, faculty, administration and the residents of Central Brooklyn, as well as the entire Borough of Brooklyn and New York City. The 44,950 square foot three-story building houses The School of Business and the administrative offices for Student Affairs. By consolidating Business faculty offices, support services, and classrooms in a building with a new lecture hall and a student commons, the new Building will not only strengthen the identity of our School of Business, but also provide multiple opportunities for informal gatherings. Student Affairs offices include the registrar, admissions and recruitment, testing, health services, and the bursar, thus providing a streamlined centralized experience for students.

A Ground Breaking Ceremony was celebrated on June 4, 2004. The next phase of campus expansion will establish a five-story Academic Complex for the Sciences that will house the School of Science, Health and Technology. With increased classroom space and expanded course and program offerings, the new buildings will promote academic and intellectual exchange in an environment that enhances the teaching and learning experience. The Academic Complex for the Sciences is a five story, 194,000 gross square foot brick structure which will feature a two-story glass pavilion-dining hall that seats 500 persons. The dining hall will also serve as a multi-purpose room, used for lectures, concerts, social functions, large meetings, conferences, etc. The building will also include classrooms, computer labs and small seminar rooms which will be used interdepartmentally.

Teaching and research laboratories for Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Nursing and Mathematics will be organized by discipline. Additional features of the building will include “state of the art” computer-enabled classrooms, a 120-seat lecture hall, computer labs, faculty and administrative offices and numerous student study areas. The main entrance lobby will be especially designed for flexible use, including exhibits, receptions, large meetings, student lounges, and lectures. The building will be located on the northern side of Crown Street and will cover approximately three-quarters of the block, beginning at Bedford Avenue. The total cost of the project has also been allocated and is secure.

These two buildings will add 238,950 gross square feet to our campus, which represents a 76% increase in our current facilities. As a result, the College will be able to increase its enrollment by 41%, from the current level of approximately 5000 students to approximately 7,000 students by 2008. Also, the addition of these “state of the art” facilities will greatly enhance and expand the College’s accessibility and services to the community. Full funding for both projects is $155,000,000, which has been provided by New York State and New York City.

With the construction of these new state-of-the art buildings, Medgar Evers College is moving forward in its mission to “Create Success, One Student at a Time.”

Stedman's Introduces New Smartype Software for Accurate Speedtyping

Stedman's Introduces New Smartype Software for Accurate Speedtyping

Stedman's Smartype gives transcriptionists the power to accurately do more work in less time.

(PRWEB) August 24, 2003

StedmanÂ’s Introduces New Smartype Software for Accurate Speedtyping

Baltimore MD (PRWEB) August, 2003 -– Lippincott Williams & Williams recently announced the release of Stedman’s Smartype®, the latest software to join the Stedman’s brand of medical resources. Stedman’s Smartype brings accuracy and speed together in a single integrated tool for medical transcription.

After joining forces with Smartype, the transcription industryÂ’s leading speedtyping software, StedmanÂ’s re-worked and enhanced the product with its own extensive medical terminology to offer a built-in vocabulary of more than 80,000 words, compared to 36,000 for the former product.

“Conventional abbreviation expanders can only save about 25-30% of keystrokes,” notes Joe Weber, CEO of Narratek, the Smartype company. “Stedman’s Smartype can save medical transcriptionists approximately 70% of their keystrokes with our patented word-completion technology...but speed is only part of the equation. Accuracy is also critical. Smartype automatically spells, capitalizes, and hyphenates correctly. We are now thrilled at being able to accomplish this on a vocabulary that has been enhanced and quality-assured by Stedman’s, the leading company in medical terminology.”

Stedman’s Smartype, which works with Word 2000 or Word XP, is the only speedtyping software that incorporates the SmartLine, a dynamic display that shows what will be entered if the spacebar is pressed. The SmartLine displays the text just below the typing cursor, enabling users to keep their focus on the document rather than searching for a window at the bottom of the screen – thereby further increasing productivity.

Julie Stegman, Publisher of Stedman’s, adds, “Stedman’s Smartype also includes a unique display of matching words to prevent the inadvertent entry of a wrong word or phrase – a common problem with conventional expanders. No one wants to go back and re-do work, and Stedman’s Smartype gives transcriptionists the power to do more work in less time. Who wouldn’t want that? And now that Stedman’s has expanded and certified the vocabulary, Stedman’s Smartype is surely the fastest transcription tool for generating the most accurate documents.”

Sit at a Desk All Day? Getting Exercise Is Worth Standing Up For

Sit at a Desk All Day? Getting Exercise Is Worth Standing Up For

Tom and Dian Griesel, co-authors of TurboCharged, a rapid fat-loss and wellness book due for release in mid-March share exercise tips for those whose jobs require sitting at a desk for extended periods, as well as those who spend lots of time watching TV or surfing the Internet.

New York, NY (Vocus/PRWEB) January 22, 2011

The American Cancer Society, the British Journal of Sports Medicine, the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, the Journal of the American Heart Association, the Australia-based Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute and even the Canadian government are all sounding the alarm on the health problems that result from too much sitting. Many studies are coming to the same conclusion: Sitting can be hazardous to your health!

Tom and Dian Griesel are the co-authors of TurboCharged, a rapid fat-loss and wellness book due for release in mid-March. Reflecting the verdict on excessive sitting, they have plenty of exercise tips for those whose jobs require sitting at a desk for extended periods, as well as those who spend lots of time watching TV or surfing the Internet.

“All of these studies point out that sitting is a form of inactivity, which has many adverse effects on our physiology,” says Tom. “During prolonged sitting, one’s whole body just slows down. Our bodies are not designed for inactivity but for complex, whole-body movement. According to Elin E. Bak, researcher for the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, ‘Lack of whole-body muscular movement [is] strongly associated with obesity, abnormal glucose metabolism, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease risk and cancer.’”

“If you sit all day, even if you find time to exercise 40 to 60 minutes four to six days per week, you are still a couch potato and at risk,” adds Dian. “Studies are showing that the effects of sitting are independent of exercise, and might even counter some of exercise’s beneficial effects. According to Marc Hamilton, a professor of biomedical sciences at the University of Missouri, ‘Chair time is an insidious hazard because people haven’t been told it is a hazard.’”

The good news, say Tom and Dian, is that some type of movement every 20 to 40 minutes, even for as little as one minute, is all that is needed to remedy the effects of sitting. In fact, standing up burns 60 more calories per hour than sitting and seems to counter the latter’s effects. Using the stairs instead of the elevator is another excellent choice. In TurboCharged, the Griesels outline a simple program of increased activity and one-minute exercises which, along with other steps, are designed to increase health, vitality and fat-loss even if one has a desk job. Below is a list of steps that anyone can incorporate into their day. As employers become aware of the benefits of regular movement during the workday, mini-movement breaks may become a job requirement.

Suggested Exercise List for Those With Desk Jobs:

1) Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

2) Stand up as often as possible, such as when talking on the telephone.

3) Body Weight Squats: Stand with feet about shoulder-width apart, arms at your sides or out in front of you. Bend your knees, bringing your rear end down as if sitting in a chair. Rise to standing and repeat. Taking breaks as needed, do this 20 to 60 times or as many as you are able to do in a minute.

4) Lunge: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and take a step forward, lower down trying to touch your rear knee to the floor, raise and return to starting position, and repeat with your other leg. Continue to alternate legs for 1 minute.

5) Desk or Wall Push-Up: Stand with your toes 2 to 3 feet from the desk or wall. Place your hands on the desk or wall, lower down and press back up. Start with 20 and aim to build up to 60 consecutive repetitions. This is easier than a regular push-up and a good way to start.

6) Standing Heel Lifts: With feet 6 to 12 inches apart, rise up on your toes as high as you can, then lower back down barely touching your heels to the ground. Tighten your buttocks as much as you can. Repeat for a count of 60 or as long as you can last.

7) Take short walks during scheduled breaks and lunch.

Suggestions for Chair Exercises:

1) Exhale and suck your stomach in, contracting it back toward your spine, hold tight for 5 seconds and release. Repeat 10 times.

2) Lift your legs straight in front of you, flex them and hold steady for as long as you can. Release and repeat.

3) Lift your legs straight out in front of you and cross them like a scissors alternating them top and bottom. Do as many as you can.

4) Lift your arms in front of you or to your sides, and pulse them up and down as quickly as possible for up to 1 minute.

For TV watchers, get off the couch during commercials and do push-ups, lunges or squats. This is an easy and productive habit to improve your tube time!

Hospitals May Now be More Willing to Partner Up with Former Adversaries

Hospitals May Now be More Willing to Partner Up with Former Adversaries

The quality checks used by Medicare and Medicaid have lost their adversarial reputation, and may become leaders in quality health care.

(PRWEB) March 23, 2005

A study publishing in the latest issue of Health Services Research is one the few published evaluations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO). Focusing on patients hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction, researchers found an overall positive perceived impact of QIOs on the quality of hospital care. Their findings suggest that QIOs have overcome, to some degree, the previously adversarial and punitive roles of their predecessors, the Peer Review Organizations. The feedback they received points to the need for contact with doctors and upper-level management. “While hospitals no longer view QIOs as adversaries… their impact as partners can be strengthened if they can have more direct and influential relationships with physicians and senior management at the hospital,” the authors state.

As the primary means by which the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services promotes quality health care throughout the country’s hospitals, nursing homes, and home care, QIOs affect 40 million beneficiaries. The researchers conducted interviews with 100 directors of quality management from a randomly selected cross-section of all acute care hospitals operating in 2001. More than ninety percent of the hospitals reported that QIOs had initiated specific interventions, most commonly providing educational materials, benchmark data, and hospital performance data. The majority of respondents, sixty percent, rated QIO interventions as “helpful” or “very helpful.” The generally positive view of QIOs suggests that they are poised to take a leading role in promoting quality of care. “However, to fulfill this leadership role effectively, QIOs will need to find ways to integrate physicians and hospital senior management more fully into QIO quality improvement initiatives,” the authors conclude.
