ZOLL Medical Receives International Regulatory Approvals for Two Resuscitation Products

ZOLL Medical Receives International Regulatory Approvals for Two Resuscitation Products

ZOLL Medical Corporation announced today it has received international regulatory approvals for two products: the Power Infuser® from ZOLL’s Infusion Dynamics division, and the ZOLL AutoPulse™ Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump.

(PRWEB) June 17, 2005

ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: ZOLL), a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and software solutions, announced today that it has received international regulatory approvals for two products: the Power Infuser® from ZOLL’s Infusion Dynamics division, and the ZOLL AutoPulse™ Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump.

The Power Infuser has been granted approval by the Canadian Regulatory Agency, Health Canada Therapeutic Products Directorate (HCTPD), to begin marketing in Canada. In addition, the Power Infuser is now labeled with the CE Mark, allowing for the sale of the miniature fluid resuscitation pump in the European Union. To qualify for the CE Mark, the Power Infuser was tested to international standards for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility. This testing is in addition to rigorous electromagnetic, climatic, altitude, vibration, and human-factor tests previously conducted by the U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force, which qualified the device for use in military aircraft.

Additionally, the AutoPulse has received approval from AustraliaÂ’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), allowing for the sale and marketing of the AutoPulse to help treat sudden cardiac arrest in that country. The AutoPulse already has the CE Mark for Europe, as well as regulatory approvals in Canada and New Zealand.

“These additional approvals expand the markets where ZOLL can sell its advanced resuscitation products, and should help to continue the progress made in international sales last quarter,” said Richard A. Packer, President and Chief Executive Officer. “ZOLL remains focused on advancing the practice of resuscitation worldwide by offering a range of products that work together and help healthcare professionals save lives.”

About the ZOLL AutoPulse

The AutoPulse™ Non-invasive Cardiac Support Pump is revolutionary in its design and potential to offer better outcomes. As an adjunct to CPR efforts, the AutoPulse can do chest compressions that humans can’t possibly do, while moving much more blood, more effectively,(1-5) to the heart and brain. The device is comprised of a backboard and a simple LifeBand™ that fastens across a victim’s chest. The AutoPulse compresses the entire chest in a unique, consistent “hands-free” manner, moving more blood than can be moved during manual CPR.(2-4)

About the Power Infuser

ZOLL’s Infusion Dynamics division manufactures and markets the Power Infuser®, a small, lightweight, easy-to-use device, which provides highly controlled, rapid delivery of intravenous (IV) fluids to trauma victims. Using a patented mechanism, the pump delivers controlled fluid boluses at rates up to 100 ml per minute—several times that of conventional infusion pumps. Yet, it is small enough to strap to a patient’s arm.

Primarily sold to the military today, this product has applications in aeromedical transport, EMS, and emergency room settings. Infusion Dynamics and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, Md., jointly conceived the Power Infuser to treat wounded soldiers on the battlefield and in transport.

People Powered Healthcare: Healthcare Policy Drafted Through Crowdsourcing

People Powered Healthcare: Healthcare Policy Drafted Through Crowdsourcing

Healthcare products are being improved through Internet driven crowdsourcing. CPAPtalk. com, an online forum for Sleep Apnea patients tests a new way of improving products: User driven product testing.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 15, 2009

The healthcare sector is under pressure to cut costs and extend care. Crowdsourcing may be a great way to do both. 'Crowdsourcing is a distributed product and problem solving model made possible by the Internet. Problems are broadcast to an unknown group of solvers in the form of an open call for solutions.

Users-- also known as the crowd-- typically form into online communities, and then submit solutions'. This definition was provided by Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia that anyone can edit and perhaps the best known example of a Crowdsourced project. Now other businesses are getting into the act and applying the Wikipedia effect to their niche.

One such early adopter is CPAPtalk, an online forum for CPAP users that is attempting to improve product quality for its members through crowdsourcing head-to-head product trials.

CPAPtalk. com is a free online forum for sleep apnea patients established to remedy the lack of patient voice within the Sleep Industry. Today 40,000 registered users log-on to discuss the trials and triumphs of their treatment. They also exchange tips, tricks, reviews and advice on the CPAP products they use nightly. Historically, the information they provided about the quality of their products sadly remained an untapped resource for sleep industry engineers. To aggregate and spotlight this important information, CPAPtalk. com now conducts regular head to head, user voted contests they call Product Challenges. Product Challenges are Crowdsourcing for Healthcare. Patients are asked to compare and outline problems with each product. Their answers are broadcast to other patients, sleep doctors and to manufacturers. The end result is engaged patients banding together to provide manufacturers with insight they can use to improve the quality of CPAP equipment for all. When crowdsourcing is utilized in healthcare, both the patients and the industry benefit.

Crowdsourcing is proving to be an effective tool for recognizing the problems within healthcare. The question 'Tell me where it hurts' can now be answered with a resounding voice, 40,000 patients strong. By listening to the crowd, organizations gain first hand insight on patient/customer desires. Patient feedback offers rich data for product and policy research. More importantly, patients feel part of a community and gain a sense of earned responsibility through their contribution and collaboration. Like this community, other sites can provide willing and ready ranks to join the efforts in resolving patient dissonance.

Study Shows LapBand® Surgery May Have Long-Term Complications

Study Shows LapBand® Surgery May Have Long-Term Complications

Vertical gastrectomy is mentioned as a safer option for people considering weight-loss surgery.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 21, 2006

In a recent study, a group of physicians from Switzerland led by Dr. M. Suter, MD, PD, FACS, examined the long-term complications related to LapBand® weight-loss surgery. The study demonstrated that LapBand® long-term complications increase over time.

The study followed 317 patients who received LapBand® surgery between June 1997 and June 2003. The physicians gathered data from 81.5% of these patients after seven years. Patients were followed for an average of 74 months. The patients received a LapBand® or a SAGB (Swedish Adjustable Gastric Band), according to the surgeon’s preference. (Studies have demonstrated no significant statistical difference between the complication rates of these two devices.)

Overall, 33.1% of patients had at least one long-term complication related to gastric banding. Long-term complications related to LapBand® included leaking, progressive food intolerance, and band erosion. Many of these complications can be avoided and have been reduced with more careful patient selection and improvement in surgical technique.

Despite the seemingly unfavorable results of Suter’s study, the average amount of weight loss after the surgery remained very acceptable. When asked to comment on the long-term effects of LapBand® in terms of this study, bariatric surgeon Gregg Jossart, of Laparoscopic Associates of San Francisco, said, “Even at 10 years, there are a lot of LapBand® patients with good weight-loss results and no complications. In the end, it’s up to the patient to decide on the course of action they feel is best for their overall health. Our own surgical data demonstrates that the vertical sleeve gastrectomy is a good alternative to the LapBand® in decreasing the likelihood of long-term complications.”

Although other studies have followed the results of gastric banding, most reported data within a two to four year period. The Suter study concluded that, until more is learned about decreasing long-term risk, alternatives like vertical gastrectomy should be considered.

Body Balance for Performance San Diego Hits Big with Golf Technology

With state-of-the-art golf fitness technology like the Body Motion System and the Dynamic Balance System, Body Balance for Performance of San Diego gains praise from golfers, golf instructors and golf centers.

San Diego (PRWEB) January 30, 2008

With state-of-the-art golf fitness technology like the Body Motion System and the Dynamic Balance System, Body Balance for Performance of San Diego (http://sandiego. fitgolf. com (http://sandiego. fitgolf. com)) is able to help not only golfers, but other golf instructors and golf centers as well.

At Body Balance for Performance of San Diego, golf instructors can use the golf fitness technology to detect flaws in their swing or stance and correct them. The Dynamic Balance System monitors the golfer's weight transfer and their center of gravity's motion throughout their swing. Using the immediate feedback, golf instructors can identify and correct improper movements.

"The 3D motion and weight-transfer measuring technology that Body Balance for Performance uses gives never-before-seen data," said John Darling, director of instruction at the Maderas Golf Course in San Diego. "This data will give any golfer a better understanding of what needs to be done physically to increase the performance of their golf swing...The learning curve is drastically shortened."

Golf instructors also utilize the Body Motion System golf technology, a vest with sensors that measures power changes during a swing, and a sensor on the end of a golf club to track motion. Darling says Body Balance's golf technology makes it easier for him to train his students.

"One of the main reasons I work with Body Balance for Performance is that we both use some of the same technology," Darling said. "This allows the data I gather and the data they gather to be very consistent. This consistency gives my students confidence and allows me to bridge physical training and golf instruction."

Golf instructors aren't the only ones to benefit. Stadium Golf Center also credits their partnership with Body Balance for Performance of San Diego for enhancing their services and securing high levels of client satisfaction.

"(Body Balance for Performance of San Diego) has tremendous insight into the physical side of swinging the golf club," said Monty Leong, general manager of the Stadium Golf Center. "They share the same business philosophy and offer our guests a unique opportunity to improve their golf game using state-of-the-art technology."

Moravia Worldwide Extends Its Life Sciences Practice

Moravia Worldwide Extends Its Life Sciences Practice

Moravia Worldwide, a leading globalization solution provider, announced today an extension of its dedicated Life Sciences Practice and appointment of Mr. Richard Chin as Moravia Life Sciences Practice Lead.

Brno, Czech Republic (PRWEB) February 6, 2009

Moravia Worldwide, a leading globalization solution provider, announced today an extension of its dedicated Life Sciences Practice and appointment of Mr. Richard Chin as Moravia Life Sciences Practice Lead. This dedicated practice helps medical device, pharmaceutical and biotech companies reach local markets by providing language and translation services that support their efforts from clinical trial stages to post approval product launch.

This extension of the Life Sciences Practice is a direct result of the consistent double-digit growth rates since services were offered within this sector in 2002 and puts it on the same footing with Moravia's dedicated software localization, testing and engineering units. It also reflects the recognized future potential of this sector, as many of Moravia's current Life Sciences customers generate significant portions of their annual revenues from overseas markets - frequently more than 50% - and this proportion is on the increase.

This step is designed to accelerate the development of new specialized Life Sciences solutions, and be the platform for the cross-functional integration of the many functions at Moravia that are critical for the successful provision of these professional services. This encompasses dedicated production teams, Life Sciences production processes, and the specific QA resources and methodologies required to serve the sector. The Moravia Life Science Practice will also maintain a special focus on business partner management, Moravia's development of and relations with the wide range of in-country professionals and Life Sciences practitioners, and the widening of the company's In-country Review process (ICR) infrastructure.

Importantly, with some 13,400 disease diagnosis possibilities in existence today, this extension will provide for an expansion of expertise in the subject matter areas and therapies for which Moravia has full-scale localization solutions, to keep pace with the rapid development in the clinical research area.

One area where Moravia has developed a unique position is in providing language and translation solutions for the growing number of emerging languages and markets. These not only constitute a substantial part of Life Sciences companies' total revenues, but also represent a major growth potential, and these emerging regions are increasingly becoming the place for conducting clinical trials. Moravia's Life Sciences Practice will now continue in up-scaling solutions for the approval processes and clinical trials in emerging regions like Latin America, Central Europe and Asia. This reflects the fact that today, some 40% of patients participating in clinical trials may come from these regions - thanks to their growing urban populations; requirements for trials with drug-naive populations; or, with populations reflecting the kinds of healthcare "lifestyle" diseases of North America or Europe.

Mr. Richard Chin, Moravia's newly appointed Life Sciences Practice Lead, based in Moravia's California office, is a long-term Life Sciences professional, with extensive strategic and business development experience working in the areas of regulatory submission, partnerships with top ten biopharmaceutical companies, product launches and new territory expansions. With an MBA in Marketing and a BA in Biology, Mr. Chin is a regular speaker at industry events, tradeshows and is member of industry associations including DIA, RAPS and ACRP.

"Today, with increasing global regulatory, public and economic pressures, Life Sciences companies are proactively building internationalization strategies in their business plans," commented Chin. "Thanks to the reputation in the Life Sciences sectors Moravia has built over the years, we are uniquely positioned to help Life Sciences organizations get the most of their investments in research, development and marketing in global markets. We look forward to developing and growing our dedicated practice further, including the continuing extension of our global Life Sciences Practice team as well as developing new specialized solutions for our Life Sciences clients."

"Patents provide for only a limited window of opportunity for Life Sciences companies, and so efficient management of international regulatory compliance is one of the most critical aspects for these organizations to deal with," added Katerina Janku, the CEO of Moravia Worldwide. "We are proud of the role we have played to date in helping our clients succeed internationally, and the recent extension of our practice is set to give them new options and opportunities to excel in this capability."

Touchstone on Lake Muskoka Presents Anti-Aging & Life Extending Seminar by Renowned Doctor - James Meschino

Vacation home lifestyle and an anti-aging way of life find a home together at Muskoka’s lakeside fractional real estate retreat.

Muskoka, ON (PRWEB) August 10, 2006

On Saturday, August 12th, the world-famous anti aging expert Dr. James Meschino will present and discuss his groundbreaking Anti-aging & Life-Extending Strategies at Touchstone on Lake Muskoka’s Presentation Centre (http://www. touchstoneonlakemuskoka. ca/index2.html) located at the projects future home - on the shores of Lake Muskoka between Bracebridge and Port Carling.

Recent developments in anti-aging research suggest that age-related decline “can be prevented, slowed, and even reversed, with the implementation of highly specific anti-aging nutrition, supplementation, and physical activity regiment,” and Dr. Meschino will share his researched based approach to this increasingly popular topic.

“Dr. Jim”, a Fellow of The Academy of Anti-Aging Research, promotes ways to combat even the most common of age-related ailments, from certain cancers to arthritis. Dr. Meschino’s message is sophisticated yet simple—based on evidence gathered in the past 10 years. Aging can be slowed and some aspects of it even reversed by understanding issues related to wellness and lifestyle.

According to Walter Thompson, president of The GenerX Corporation, the company developing Touchstone On Lake Muskoka, a $75-million, 30-acre luxury fractional lakeside community of cottages and villas on Lake Muskoka (http://www. touchstoneonlakemuskoka. ca/floorplan_grand. html), Dr. Meschino’s message is ideal for this lakeside community. Thompson notes, “The fractional vacation homes (http://www. touchstoneonlakemuskoka. ca/fractionalresources. html) offered at Touchstone on Lake Muskoka are designed to afford retirees, families, and couples a hassle-free second-home ownership opportunity, a way to have the benefits of a restful retreat but without the stress and expense of trying to attain and maintain a secondary residence.”

In Muskoka, Canada’s most coveted year round cottage paradise, people can purchase a quarter interest of a luxurious fully furnished three bedroom Muskoka cottage for only $248,000 at Touchstone On Lake Muskoka (http://www. touchstoneonlakemuskoka. ca). Touchstone on Lake Muskoka owners also enjoy healthy living amenities such as a fitness centre, casually elegant restaurant, infinity pool, and world-class spa—all providing activities that promote relaxation and relief from daily life, an important part of Dr. Meschino’s message.

Got a Cash Flow Crisis? Noble Finances Offers Business Financing Solutions

Got a Cash Flow Crisis? Noble Finances Offers Business Financing Solutions

In the first five years, 60% of new businesses fail. Contributors to this statistic include poor cash management and lack of working capital. Since it is difficult for young companies to qualify for traditional bank financing, alternative financing should be considered for getting the cash needed to stay afloat.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 7, 2006

Noble & Associates Consulting, Inc, a provider of business and functional support for SAP and Oracle E-Business software implementations and upgrades worldwide, announces its new financial services division, Noble Finance$.

Most would agree that a better cash flow would help them be more successful. With a reliable, consistent flow of cash, businesses are better able to take advantage of opportunities with governments and large corporations. Being awarded a multimillion dollar contract would be a dream come true for many. But it is a dream that may never become a reality because of concerns about basic survival. Cash flow is the issue.

Often, the traditional banking institutions are unable to help. Companies that have been in existence for less than three years and / or companies which have not established a business credit profiles are usually unable to qualify for a bank loan. If they do qualify for a line of credit, it may not be large enough to support expansion and growth requirements. Noble Finances provides alternative financing solutions.

Accounts Receivable Financing, also known as Factoring, allows companies to obtain immediate cash from creditworthy customer invoices. Factoring has been used by companies of all sizes and in all industries. Staffing, Printing, Construction, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Distribution, Trucking are a few of the sectors that utilize Factoring. Some of the companies working on the rebuilding of New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina, have also benefited from this type of funding. Having sufficient working capital and cash flow is especially critical to the success of small, minority, women-owned and disadvantaged businesses.

One important concern is the ability to make payroll and to keep up with payroll taxes. And, where will the cash to pay suppliers come from? Those able to take advantage of volume or early payment discounts from their suppliers, generally increase their profit margins. "We are pleased to offer special financing programs that can help businesses to grow. Being a small business owner, seeking the big deal, I understand the concerns about financial survival," said Sandra Noble, president of Noble & Associates Consulting, Inc. "In fact, that's

Why Noble Finances was established as a division: to fund our own growth and to help other companies with similar needs."

Get the money you need to stabilize and electrify your business. Feel more confident about bidding on that big contract that would take your business to the next level. Fortunately, there is a way to have improved cash flow without incurring additional debt. Get the relief that comes from knowing that cash will be available in 24 hours. Stop waiting 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or even longer for customers to pay. Visit http://www. GetCashFromReceivables. com/ (http://www. New Research Report Shows Relationship Skills Training Can Dramatically Improve Quality of Life for Millions of American Couples, Families and Children

Longitudinal research results from nearly 800 graduates of PAIRS brief marriage education classes in South Florida show statistically significant, lasting improvements in six areas key to measuring marital cohesion, strength, and resiliency. Seth Eisenberg, President of PAIRS Foundation, says, "Relationship skills training founded on emotional literacy, empathy and bonding has the potential to dramatically improve the quality of life for millions of American couples, families, and children,"

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) December 15, 2009

Longitudinal research results from nearly 800 graduates of PAIRS brief marriage education classes in South Florida show statistically significant, lasting improvements in six areas key to measuring marital cohesion, strength, and resiliency.

Six months after completing an intensive nine to 12 hour PAIRS Marriage Education (http://www. pairs. com/index. html) class:

1. The percentage of participants who demonstrate affection always or almost always was 69 percent, a 24 percent increase;
2. The percent who always or almost always agree on aims, goals, and things believed important was 81 percent, a 20 percent increase;
3. The percent who rarely or never consider divorce or separation was 81 percent, a 27 percent increase;
4. The percent who confide in their mates most of the time or everyday was 72 percent, a 30 percent increase;
5. The percent who never, occasionally or only rarely quarrel with their partner was 88 percent, a 22 percent increase;
6. The percent who calmly discuss something with their partner at least weekly was 69 percent, a 31 percent increase.

In 2006, PAIRS Foundation was awarded a multi-year grant from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (http://www. acf. hhs. gov/healthymarriage/index. html), to provide marriage education and relationship skills classes to adults and high school students in South Florida (Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties). To date, nearly 5,000 individuals and couples have participated, including participants representing diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Amanda Falciglia, PAIRS Foundation's Research (http://evaluation. pairs. com) Director, says the ongoing evaluation project includes assessing the quality and key attributes of participants relationships prior to enrollment, after completion, and again six and 12 months following completion. Assessments utilized in PAIRS research include national standards such as the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Child Behavior Checklist, and Relationship Pleasure Scale (http://participant. pairs. com/rps).

Seth Eisenberg (http://setheisenberg. pairs. com), President and CEO of PAIRS Foundation, says the research results provide important validation of the impact of marriage education.

"Relationship skills training founded on emotional literacy, empathy and bonding has the potential to dramatically improve the quality of life for millions of American couples, families, and children," Eisenberg says. "Our work with diverse populations -- from prisoner re-entry to individuals recovering from addictions, the formerly homeless, families struggling to overcome poverty, new immigrants, expectant parents, adoptive families, couples impacted by a spouse's combat deployment, couples raising special needs children, couples considering separation or divorce, fathers, and others in all stages of relationship consistently demonstrates a lasting, positive impact of evidence-based relationship skills education."

Eisenberg says the foundation is providing a series of free online classes to provide skills training to couples during the holidays. "Holidays are a time of added stress and anxiety for many families," Eisenberg says. "Our webinars are our way of reaching out to couples across the country to offer a tangible gift that can help marriages and strengthen families through this holiday season and long into the new year."

Eisenberg says PAIRS Foundation is also particularly focused on reaching out to couples impacted by combat deployment. "We know from significant experience with active duty, guard and veterans impacted by combat deployment that learning skills for improving communication, releasing the energy of stressful emotions, and strengthening attachment to significant others is especially important," Eisenberg says. He says couples impacted by combat deployment should contact PAIRS Foundation at 877 PAIRS 4U (724 7748) for more information.

PAIRS Foundation, established in 1983, is one of the nation's oldest and leading providers of relationship skills training classes. The 501(c)(3) non-profit develops educational curricula, delivers courses for the public and professionals nationwide, and conducts research.

April is National Parkinson’s Awareness Month. Everyone can do something!

April is National Parkinson’s Awareness Month. Everyone can do something!

Share these early signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease courtesy of the NextStep® Walking Device - available now until the end of April for only $197 - a savings of $150.

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) April 25, 2006

Nationwide, as many as 1.5 million people suffer from Parkinson's, according to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. A chronic and progressive disorder, Parkinson's strikes slightly more men than women and more whites than blacks in the United States. People with Parkinson's disease have plenty of company.

Each year about 50,000 patients join the ranks of the estimated one million Americans who share this condition, which affects roughly one of every 100 Americans over age 65.

But numbers alone can't begin to capture the human impact of Parkinson's disease. The disease is not only frightening for the people who have it but also for those who love them as Parkinson's symptoms begin to interfere with everyday life.

The cause of Parkinson's disease is currently unknown. Researchers are trying to discover why the brain of the affected person loses its dopamine, with studies showing that the underlying causes are probably both genetic and environmental. It may be as long as five years after the loss of dopamine that the first noticeable symptoms appear.

Common Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease:

Symptoms may be present on one or both sides of the body. The person's intellectual ability is unchanged until the advanced stages of the illness, when it deteriorates slowly. The following are a list of symptoms to be aware of:

· Tremors

· Rigidity

· Facial Expressions

· Voice Pitch

· Swallowing

· Depression

· Tremors

A common early symptom is a tremor in one finger that eventually spreads to involve the whole arm. Tremors are most noticeable when the person is at rest, and may involve a distinctive movement in which the thumb and the index finger rub together rhythmically (four or five times a second) in what is described as the 'pill-rolling' tremor. Tremors can also occur in the head, lips, tongue, and feet. Some patients report experiencing internal tremors, which may occur several times a week, but are of short duration (under half an hour). Tremors do not occur during sleep.

Several other ailments mimic the symptoms of Parkinson's, and your health professional will be the best resource for information on this aspect.

In support of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, the NextStep® walking device will be available for order via the Internet for only $197, a savings of $150.

About NextStep®

The NextStep® was developed by Parkinson’s NextStep, LLC, a company whose mission it is to create and develop products that serve, enrich, and foster independence for Parkinson’s sufferers. To Mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Spacio Spa of Chicago Offers a Special Deal on Safe and Natural Airbrush Tan

To Mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Spacio Spa of Chicago Offers a Special Deal on Safe and Natural Airbrush Tan

Americans don't need to put their health at risk for a nice tan. Airbrush tanning is the safe way to go.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 15, 2009

Every year, more than one million Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer. There is no need to put one's health at risk, however, to obtain a flattering tan. For a safe, healthy summer look, airbrush tanning is the way to go.

This month, Spacio makes it even more enticing with a special deal on its exclusive, tanning-by-hand service.

For the whole month of May, and to mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Spacio--a day spa located in Chicago's bustling Lincoln Park neighborhood--is offering an $83 airbrush tanning + sunscreen/moisturizer package (a $94 value).

Spacio's experienced spray tanning specialists make tanning quick to apply, easy to maintain, and affordable. "Spacio's airbrush tanning uses only essential and natural ingredients," says Darlene Chaleff, co-owner of Spacio. "When sprayed on by highly trained specialists, airbrush tanning produces a streak-free, natural-looking bronze hue that gives clients the look they want without damaging their skin."

The main solution used in Spacio's airbrush tanning is DHA--Dihydroxyacetone--a simple carbohydrate derived from beet and cane sugars. DHA only penetrates the first layer of skin and reacts with amino acids to produce a darkening of the skin cells. The results: a beautiful bronze tone that looks natural and stays on for up to a week with proper moisturizing.

"What I particularly like about airbrush tanning," states Chaleff, "is that it dries in seconds, is not greasy, and fades like a suntan." Adds Margaret Cardone, Spacio's lead esthetician: "I love that our clients acquire a wonderful 'just walked off the beach' look in minutes."

Spacio's sunless tanning process is designed for every skin type, is hypoallergenic, oil-free, fragrance-free, and alcohol-free, and will not clog pores or cause dryness to the skin.

Call 773.244.6500 for more information about airbrush tanning, or visit www. spaciospa. com to learn more about this neighborhood gem.

Located in Lincoln Park, Spacio is a neighborhood spa and salon that offers Michigan Avenue-type services. From traditional spa treatments to hydrotherapy and manual spray, airbrush tanning, Spacio is an oasis for mental and emotional health.

Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2005

Fletcher-Flora Health Care Systems, Inc. (OTC PINK: FFLH) announced today they have signed a Master Alliance and Licensing Agreement with Skeva Technologies, Inc. which establishes a preferred relationship and grants Fletcher-Flora exclusive rights to use and market Skeva’s Web-based outreach software in the LIS marketplace. In addition, Fletcher-Flora has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to purchase the Skeva software and Intellectual property.

The newly acquired software capabilities will perfectly complement Fletcher-Flora’s encaLaber, a leading-edge, Web-based laboratory information system (LIS) which serves mid-to-large sized hospitals and reference laboratories, as well as its LabPak product line which is a leader in the physician office laboratory market.

The combined capabilities of encaLaber and the new Web-based outreach software will allow Fletcher-Flora’s clients to maximize their investment in equipment, information systems and people to produce additional revenues from beyond their hospital doors. This new solution is 100 percent Web-based and is HIPAA compliant. It provides a baseline electronic health record (EHR) for storing results and has interoperability with practice management systems.

“The addition of this new software package to encaLaber brings Fletcher-Flora the opportunity to better serve our client base by providing them with complete outreach capabilities that are totally integrated with our LIS,” explained Neal Flora, President and CEO of Fletcher-Flora Healthcare Systems. “We see a great opportunity to scale these capabilities down to meet the needs of our physician office-sized customers and up to serve the needs of large hospitals, reference labs and IDNs.”

“The Skeva -- Fletcher-Flora partnership will allow us to work together to explore the expanding role of laboratory outreach solutions in both the non-hospital and hospital markets. With Fletcher-Flora’s solid customer base and strong leadership, the makings of a great alliance are in place,” said Joe Rosario, President and CEO of Skeva Technologies, Inc.

The encaLaber and LabPak LIS are robust systems built on more than thirty years of experience in the physician, clinical reference and hospital laboratory markets. EncaLaber is built to work on both Linux and Microsoft operating systems and support a selection of database engines including Unify, Microsoft MS SQL and Oracle. Its thin client design supports a more scalable, portable and accessible application with a Web-based reporting and ordering system that can either be used as part of the total LIS system or as a stand-alone accessory to any other LIS.

Each encaLaber customer has the ability to set up interpretive reporting, reflexive ordering and calculations and print advanced beneficiary notification for Medicare patients. All Fletcher-Flora products comply with COLA, CLIA and HIPAA requirements. encaLaber also lends itself well to wireless environments, which can bring real-time clinical results to physicians’ fingertips in almost any clinical environment.

Better Orgasm in a Bottle

Better Orgasm in a Bottle

Women struggling with sexual issues and reaching orgasm now have hope, and it comes in a bottle, says one company.

Memphis, TN (PRWEB) June 10, 2006

There’s a new solution in town for women who are unsatisfied with their unreliable or nonexistent orgasms.

Studies show that almost half of all women cannot reach orgasm regularly and are not satisfied with their orgasms. Over 90 percent of difficulty climaxing is caused by mental hang-ups, the majority of those being performance anxiety.

A new solution is helping women everywhere to overcome their anxiety, ease their nerves, and experience intense orgasms. Vacitia is a new product that seeks to calm women down, then heat them back up.

A spokesman for Selmedica Healthcare Corporation said, “For many women, inability to climax regularly is due to heightened nerves and anxiety. Each of the ingredients in Vacitia have a specific action which work together to help women relax and enjoy sex.”

The company says that after Vacitia has taken away the source of most orgasm problems, anxiety, it then works to arouse the senses and intensify sensitivity to touch, allowing the woman to have the most powerful orgasms possible.

Watch the Kids while You Work Out: Consumers Report that Fitness Membership Decisions Increasingly Based on Childcare Options

Watch the Kids while You Work Out: Consumers Report that Fitness Membership Decisions Increasingly Based on Childcare Options

IntelliShop, a provider of customer experience measurement solutions, announced results today of their Health & Fitness Club Membership Studay. The study found that while cost-of-membership still ranks #1 among consumers, they are increasingly placing high emphasis on amenities such as onsite childcare options.

Perrysburg, OH (PRWEB) October 2, 2006 -–

In a recent survey of 974 U. S. health club members, more than 10% reported that safe, onsite childcare options were the #1 factor in their decision to join that particular location.

“As in many sectors that we measure, when it comes to health clubs, consumers are looking for options to make their lives easier. People are busier than ever, and specifically in the fitness industry, consumers have said loud and clear that they want to work out, and they need help from their clubs to provide safe options for childcare while they do so”, according to Ron Welty, CEO of IntelliShop, whose company conducted the study using their web-based panel of consumers. IntelliShop provides mystery shopping, customer satisfaction surveys, and other customer experience improvement solutions to clients in the U. S., Canada, Mexico, and the U. K.

The study found that 31% of consumers still rank cost of membership as the #1 factor when deciding which club to join. “As with many consumer decisions these days, people are voting with their wallets. While they are willing to pay for conveniences and amenities, if a club cannot distinguish itself from its competitors, it still comes down to price. Consumers are increasingly demanding greater value for their dollars spent on health club membership”, Welty said.

Other factors in the buying decision included location (25%); club amenities (14%); membership-type options (8%); and hours of operation (7%).

“The amenities that consumers want from their clubs include onsite, safe childcare; a variety of workout equipment to help them vary their routine and keep them interested; expert trainers to assist them with designing goal-specific workouts; and conveniences such as refreshment bars and flexible hours of operation”, Welty added. “Another trend we see continuing to grow is the desire among females to have workout facilities dedicated only for them, no men allowed. Those companies who are filling that need are seeing tremendous growth”.

The study was conducted using IntelliShop’s online panel of more than 130,000 available consumers. Only those who had active memberships in health clubs, purchased within the past twelve months, were invited to take the study.

Perforce Launches New Remote Administration Service For Its Software Configuration Management Customers

Perforce Launches New Remote Administration Service For Its Software Configuration Management Customers

Gazillion Entertainment trials the service and boosts productivity

Alameda, CA (Vocus) August 10, 2010

Perforce Software (http://www. perforce. com/?utm_source=pr&utm_medium=release&utm_content=home&utm_campaign=pr127_RemoteAdmin) announced the availability of its newest service, Perforce Remote Administration, providing customers additional administrative support for their Perforce Software Configuration Management (SCM) system. Tailored to meet each company’s needs, Perforce remote administrators partner with companies’ IT teams to manage and improve their Perforce installations.

Gazillion Entertainment trialed the program before its general availability, and is now relying on Perforce for ongoing administration.

“We were at a stage where we could not afford a full-time person to administer Perforce,” explained Jimil Borillo, Manager of Information Technology for Gazillion Entertainment. “With Perforce’s help we were able to boost our server performance which otherwise would have taken us much longer due to our limited in-house expertise and bandwidth.”

How Perforce Remote Administration Works
Perforce Remote Administration is offered as a monthly subscription service, allowing customers as much or as little access to Perforce administrators as desired.

After Perforce conducts a site assessment, the Perforce Server Deployment Package is installed on the customer’s Perforce Server machine. Perforce experts then perform tasks such as verifying daily backups and proactively analyzing server logs for performance issues. They also work with customers’ IT teams to perform Perforce administration tasks such as:
Managing and coordinating upgrades of Perforce servers in the organization. Gathering and refining requirements to design, develop, and deploy new triggers. Creating and managing users, groups, and access controls. Supporting major restructuring operations, such as Perforce server instance consolidation and depot splitting. Reviewing Perforce usage patterns and recommending improvements. Designing and implementing high availability/disaster recovery solutions.

“Like Gazillion Entertainment, many of our customers’ installations grow over time and require some fine-tuning to ensure top SCM performance,” said Tony Vinayak, Manager of Consulting Services for Perforce Software. “It makes more financial sense for some companies to supplement their IT Team with our SCM expertise and relying on us gives them peace-of-mind so they can focus on their core business.”

Home Sale Program Helps Seniors

Home Sale Program Helps Seniors

University Village Thousand Oaks continuing care retirement community is offering a program to help seniors sell their home during the down real estate market. University Village will defer a portion of the seniors' entrance fee until their house is sold. Seniors can move to University Village and start enjoying all the benefits of the community, including long-term care coverage, dining, housekeeping, activities and more, while they sell their home.

Thousand Oaks, Calif. (PRWEB) May 10, 2008

One consequence of the slow housing market? People who want to move to a retirement community but can't because of the difficulty in selling their house.

University Village Thousand Oaks, a continuing care retirement community in Thousand Oaks, Calif., is now offering a solution to the dilemma: the Home Sale Deferral Program.

According to Warren Spieker, vice president of University Village, seniors around the country have been caught up in the housing slowdown and have been unable to move into continuing care and other retirement communities because they haven't been able to sell their houses.

"We've always had programs available at each of our continuing care communities for those residents who needed extra help in selling their houses," Spieker said. "But over the past several months, we've seen a substantial increase in the number of seniors who want to move in but are trapped in their houses because of the real estate market. We recently enhanced and accelerated the deferral program so that residents can start taking advantage of the community's programs and services, as well as long-term care coverage, as soon as possible."

University Village's deferral program offers residents the opportunity to move into their Villa or apartment home while they work with a real estate agent to sell their house. The residents pay their normal monthly service fee, which encompasses a package of services, amenities, activities, fine dining, transportation, excursions and more. Residents of University Village also have unlimited access to skilled nursing or assisted living (including Alzheimer's care) in the adjacent OakView Health Center should they ever need it in the future, all of which is included in the program.

The community's move-in experts then work with the resident's agent to sell the house. Once the home is sold, a portion of the proceeds from the sale are used to fund a one-time, repayable entrance fee at University Village.

"Selling your home can be challenging for anyone, but for seniors it can be especially difficult," Spieker said. "Many of our residents have lived in the same house for 20, 30 or 40 years and it's been a while since they've sold a home. We work with them throughout the sale and move-in process to ensure a smooth transition."

Spieker said that the program has already been highly successful with more than 60 residents having used the Home Sale Deferral Program to defer payments until their house sold.

Allan and Shirley Walter, former residents of Camarillo, Calif., used the Home Sale Deferral Program to expedite their move to University Village.

"The program gave us time to arrange the funds we needed to pay off the balance and to have extra cash," Allan said.

University Village Thousand Oaks is located at 3415 Campus Dr. on the northwest corner of Campus Drive and Olsen Road, just north of California Lutheran University. For more information on the community, please call University Village at 800-671-8509 or visit the Web site at www. UVTO. com.

Human Rights Group Says Male Circumcision is a Dangerous Distraction in HIV Battle

Human Rights Group Says Male Circumcision is a Dangerous Distraction in HIV Battle

The human rights group, International Coalition for Genital Integrity, is continuing to raise concerns about the harms and costs of male circumcision at their booth in the AIDS 2008 conference in Mexico City this week, stating that circumcision programs will be a dangerous distraction in the HIV battle.

West Lafayette, IN (PRWEB) August 3, 2008

The human rights group, International Coalition for Genital Integrity (www. icgi. org), is continuing to raise concerns about the harms and costs of male circumcision at their booth in the AIDS 2008 conference in Mexico City this week, stating that circumcision programs will be a dangerous distraction in the HIV battle.

“Mass circumcision campaigns will result in hundreds of thousands of complications, and could make the HIV crisis worse,” cautions spokesperson John Travis, MD, MPH, “There are already numerous reports of males lining up to get circumcised so they no longer will need to use condoms. ”

Recent studies show that male circumcision is not associated with lower HIV rates in the general population. One showed that the likelihood of circumcision being effective is nil. Another showed that condom programs are 95 times more cost-effective than circumcision. The ratio of physicians to patients in sub-Saharan Africa is much lower than in more developed countries. In Africa, there are 20,000 patients for every physician, compared to 400 patients in developed countries.

Dr. Travis further warns, “Male circumcision is a dangerous distraction in the HIV battle. Even if circumcision does offer some degree of reduced risk per sexual incident, individuals engaged in high - risk behavior are still at risk for HIV. And, circumcision does not protect women. Giving circumcised males and their partners the false impression that they are protected will make the situation worse by increasing risk-taking behavior. Further, mass circumcision campaigns will likely overwhelm the already overburdened African healthcare infrastructure and divert resources away from other needed and more effective HIV prevention strategies.”

The published results of three African randomized clinical trials, conducted in optimal conditions with free condoms and extensive counseling, show that male circumcision was associated with lower rates of heterosexual HIV transmission during the 21 month to 24 month study periods. All three studies were cut short, and there have been no follow-ups.
