Orion Health’s Leadership in Global Health Information Exchange Markets Builds Revenue Across Regions

Orion Health announces their proven experience in successful design and implementation of health data integration systems is translating into best practices for customers and increasing revenue for the company. Revenue for the first half of the 2010- 2011 fiscal year is an 80 percent increase on the same period last year.

Santa Monica, CA (Vocus) November 16, 2010

Orion Health today announces their proven experience in successful design and implementation of health data integration systems is translating into best practices for customers and increasing revenue for the company. Revenue for the first half of the 2010- 2011 fiscal year is an 80 percent increase on the same period last year. Orion Health currently has the largest number of international Health Information Exchange and Electronic Health Record sites with 22 projects in 12 countries.

Ian McCrae, Orion Health CEO explains, “The successful design and implementation of projects around the world places Orion Health in a strong leadership position. Our success in this first half has been driven by a number of premier wins in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Singapore. As we gain knowledge from each unique health information exchange, we refine our solutions and processes into best practices that provide healthcare organizations a scalable, easy to use and innovative solution that will better serve their physician and patient communities.”

Mr. McCrae points to success in Europe that emphasizes the benefits of Orion Health’s innovative technology. “The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde clinical portal has seen phenomenal physician adoption increasing the number of documents accessed per week from 1,500 in 2009, to 180,000 per week in 2010 with 6,800 healthcare workers actively using the portal. This success is relevant for NHS health boards and for any organization wishing to provide immediate benefits to physicians without the costs and workflow changes associated with replacing electronic health record or administration systems.”

In the North American market, where competitive demands and pressure to scale and innovate are important considerations for buyers, Orion Health’s strong track record and hard won experience mean HIE organizations are able to leverage our best practices with the aim of quickly achieving more efficient, sustainable HIE programs. Orion Health was recently selected as the primary technology provider for Maine’s HealthInfoNet. HealthInfoNet Executive Director Dev Culver says Orion Health proved its ability to deliver consistently during the pilot phase and cites the company’s history of success in large health information exchanges in other countries as key criteria for their selection to lead the full deployment.

Mr. McCrae says Orion Health is committed to maintaining its independence and growing the expertise and knowledge base that has come from global perspective. The company has grown its staff by 20 percent in the 2010-2011 fiscal year and plans approximately another 20 percent growth in the coming months as it opens new offices.

Other People’s Poop

Other People’s Poop

Medical facts shock inventor but gives him more incentive to develop patented product to prevent the spread of contamination and diseases from shopping cart handles.

Monroe, MI (PRWEB) September 13, 2006

“People who come in contact with shopping cart handles are being exposed to serious health risk. Other peoples poop is found on shopping cart handles along with other peoples urine and blood. People are exposed to germs that cause life-threatening illness right along with other peoples flu or cold viruses,” according to the inventor, Al Dandy of Dandy Enterprises.

It was only after Dandy -- the inventor of a new device called the Healthy Handle -- started to gather information on what really does exist on cart handles, that he truly became educated and was more determined to address the best way to protect oneself. He found that was to separate the cart user from the contamination. He developed a new patented product that offers the user a practical, economical, reusable polypropylene device. This eliminates the uncertain use of chemicals and provides the separation from the contamination needed for an effective solution to the problem.

Dandy says, “People being treated for serious illnesses like cancer and some people with certain diseases have a low immune system. The elderly and the very young are at high risk, also pregnant women should be concerned about what they come in contact with. People can carry illness to others and not have any symptoms themselves. When people come in contact with some of the contaminates mentioned that are found on shopping cart handles and don’t wash their hands thoroughly, they could very easily contaminate whatever they come in contact with. They don’t even have to touch them personally. They could transfer those germs to a toy, a glass, bottle, doorknob, or even directly to a child’s hand. Should young healthy people be worried? Absolutely!”

This is a real problem that causes real sicknesses. People should take some time to get informed using real medical facts that are easily found on the internet or by visiting www. healthyhandle. com People without access to a computer may contact Dandy Enterprises at 734-289-2347 and receive copies of the reports. “Once educated to the danger, people can make better choices,” Dandy says.

Everyone has seen people sneezing or coughing. And people that look like they should be home in bed. People bring their young children shopping when they are obviously sick. Could their germs have caused someone else to get sick? Have you ever gone shopping when you were sick?

“Fact - There is no single wipe made that can eliminate all the contaminates listed and the many that are not mentioned which are found on shopping cart handles and still be safe for human use. Read the labels on some of the wipes in your local store“, Dandy says.

After reading the facts about what is found on shopping cart handles, people will see the need to make informed choices to protect themselves.

It’s conception came after the inventor's wife cut her hand on a damaged cart handle causing her to bleed and caused her concern to escalate when her thoughts turned to what could be there. "What if the last person who used this cart had cut their hand and what if they had Aids or some other contagious illness", she thought. At that point, she suggested people should be protected from this. Her husband then started his three year journey to the final patented product, the Healthy Handle.

CauseRelatedMarketing. biz Blog Logs 10,000th Unique Visitor in Less Than a Year

In just 10 months causerelatedmarketing. biz, a blog, has rocketed to 10,000 unique visitors and become the go-to source for cause marketers in 127 countries and all 50 States.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) August 24, 2007

CauseRelatedMarketing. biz, a blog on the practice of cause marketing, logged its ten thousandth unique visitor on Sunday, August 19, 2007 according to Google.

The first entry was posted on October 17, 2006.

Written by Salt Lake City-based consultant Paul R. Jones, a principal at Alden Keene & Associates, the blog is "dedicated to highlighting and dissecting the best and worst cause-related marketing promotions and campaigns."

"My approach has been to load up my posts with useful information rather than retread information found elsewhere," says Jones. "I don't just plunk in a link I found through a feed reader and comment on it with a line or two."

The result is meaty posts loved by the search engines. Search on the term 'cause related marketing' and CauseRelatedMarketing. biz appears on the first page of Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Technorati!

All told, visitors have found the blog from all 50 States and 127 countries/territories.

Once there readers find the blogosphere's most complete cause-related marketing blog with insider information on campaigns that work or fail. Added in is a healthy mix of how-tos from Jones, a long-time cause marketing practitioner.

"As a marketer and a former nonprofit executive, I'm a fan of what cause-related marketing can do for nonprofits and companies," says Jones. "But I'm intellectually honest about the practice too. If a cause marketing program is deceptive, dumb, or ineptly managed, I say so."

In just its first 10 months CauseRelatedMarketing. biz has:
Broken news about Microsoft's Windows Live Messenger cause campaign for its i'm Initiative. Been linked to by About. com and dozens of others. Been featured on the Chronicle of Philanthropy's Give and Take daily roundup of blogs four or five times. Led to Jones being quoted in the online edition of Newsweek last March during the dustup over Bobby Shriver's massive Red campaign.

"Cause marketing is growing," says Jones. "I want to see it grow even more. I think CauseRelatedMarketing. biz represents a terrific chance to further spread the best cause related marketing practices from around the globe."

Pedata RV Encourages Seniors to Get a Good Night's Sleep

Pedata RV Encourages Seniors to Get a Good Night's Sleep

Pedata RV shares research which might help seniors get uninterrupted night's sleep.

Mesa, AZ (Vocus) June 12, 2009

Pedata RV shares research which might help seniors get uninterrupted night's sleep.

With 12.1% of the US population aged 65 years or older, medical research is increasing on senior citizen health issues. One issue that may not at first glance appear to be hazardous is senior citizen sleeping patterns. More than half of seniors aged 65 years or older have chronic sleep disturbances reports Senior Journal. While for most, sleep deprivation may be an inconvenience, for those driving a motorhome (http://www. pedatarvcenter. com/) it can pose serious risks.

The effects of sleep deprivation mimic those of driving under the influence of alcohol. Driving reactions are delayed, judgment becomes impaired, not to mention the potential deadly consequences of falling asleep at the wheel. The Lighting Research Center has been studying disrupted sleep rhythms and found that blue light directed to the eye for a set amount of time could help improve sleep patterns. The goggle-like device allows seniors administer the light themselves without use of prescription drugs.

As people age, their lens thickens and their pupils shrink, allowing less light to enter, says the Senior Journal. This lack of light can disrupt the body's circadian rhythm, causing interruptions during a night's rest. While driving an RV or any vehicle it is extremely important to be fully alert. While the Lighting Research Center is currently field-testing its product, there is optimism that a good night's sleep is just around the corner.

"What we want most is for our customers to be safe on the road," says Clint Ethington of Pedata RV. "Sleep or lack there of isn't something to be taken lightly. Our goal is to have RVers get the most out of their travels so they can keep exploring."

Tennis Players Suffer in the Heat Served Up at the 2005 US Open

Tennis Players Suffer in the Heat Served Up at the 2005 US Open

Tennis Players suffering from the heat should have access to Cooling Vests to help prevent heat stress.

Westwood, NJ (PRWEB) September 1, 2005

The hot, humid and hazy New York weather has already aced many competitors at the 2005 US Open Tennis Championships. Several players have already shown signs of severe heat stress, with Andy Murray vomiting on-court, Akiko Morigami taken from the court in a wheelchair, and Michael Llodra collapsing and taken to hospital. Several players have retired due to the heat, while other matches have been delayed by players taking several injury time outs to try and cool down.

How long is there before a serious life threatening heat related illness occurs at the US Open? Are images of tennis players collapsing and vomiting providing a good image for the sport? Are the organizers providing safe working conditions?

The Australian Open Tennis Championships are also played in the middle of Summer, where on-court conditions can be much hotter than those experienced at the US Open. Over the past few years the Australian Tournament organizers have been providing ice cold Arctic Heat Cooling Vests to help prevent the players suffering from heat stress. The body cooling vests can be used prior to the match, to pre-cool and also used during the breaks between games. The Arctic Heat cooling vests help players to stabilize their core body temperature and will also help players to reduce the amount of fluids lost through sweat.

Images of athletes pushing themselves to the limit in the hot, high humidity conditions might be good for the drama of the US Open event; however these athletes are risking serious heat illness injuries, even death. The facts are that heat stroke can kill.

The National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research reports that 24 football players (19 high school, 3 college and 2 professional) have died from heatstroke between 1995 and 2004, and another high school football player has died this summer.

When Athletes sweat at a rate higher than maximum fluid intake, their bodies struggle to stay cool and their core body temperature begins to climb. Sports drinks will help with faster re-hydration, but in many cases you simply can not get the fluids back into the body fast enough. When the bodyÂ’s core temperature gets too high, the sweating process stops and the body starts to shut down. This is a very serious situation.

The Arctic Heat Cooling Vest was used extensively at the Athens Olympics, and Internationally by all the major sporting codes, Soccer, Rugby, Rowing, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Athletics and even the military in Iraq to name but a few. It would appear that the major US sporting codes are lagging behind.

Perhaps showcase events like the US Open Tennis, and other sports such as Baseball, Softball and Football teams should be considering not only the health of their players who are participating in the heat, but also the images and messages that are being provided to the general public. The message at the moment is (when participating in the heat) is to compete hard until you drop. These sports could be helping to educate the public about the latest ways to reduce and prevent heat stress.

The lightweight Arctic Heat Cooling vest uses a two stage cooling process. The vests contain a gel-like substance that can be frozen or chilled. The cooling vests are manufactured using Woolmark's Sportwool, a special body cooling fabric which incorporates Vapor Management Technology helping to wick moisture away from the skin, allowing the user to keep dry.

The Arctic Heat body cooling vest which is suitable for industrial, medical and sporting applications, retails for $174.95, and can be purchased online through the Arctic Heat USA website www. arcticheatusa. com.

Piribo: New Publication Announcement, The Pharmaceutical Market: Portugal

Piribo: New Publication Announcement, The Pharmaceutical Market: Portugal

Piribo, (piribo. com) the online destination for business intelligence for the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, has now added a new report called “The Pharmaceutical Market: Portugal”.

(PRWEB) August 20, 2006

As a very open economy reliant on exports, Singapore was especially affected by the 2001 slowdown of the US economy as demand for electronics, in particular, dropped. In 2002/2003 things improved, although the general outlook remains uncertain.

The Singapore pharmaceutical market remains strong and was worth an estimated US$536 million in 2005. The continued increase of multinational investment plays an integral part in the continuance of this strength. In recent years, Merck Sharp and Dohme and Aventis have opened new pharmaceutical production plants, while GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer and Schering-Plough are also in the process of setting up major manufacturing facilities. Singapore is increasingly becoming a base for both regional and global pharmaceutical production for a growing number of multinational companies.

These pharmaceutical market reports are ideal for executives wanting to understand the key drivers in pharmaceutical markets and have access to a wealth of statistical data. Each report opens with an outlook section that provides analysis of the market, 5-year market forecasts, national data projections, market outlook and key developments such as regulation, pricing/reimbursement, intellectual property, health facilities and government policy. The report also provides extensive background information, population trends, health status, health expenditure, organisation & administration, hospital services, medical personnel, healthcare development, market access information, trade data for raw materials and finished products and essential industry contacts. Included with the report are 3 free quarterly updated outlook reports, enabling you to keep up to date with market developments for a year.

I-PainRelief. com Explains What to Do When You Encounter Back Pain

I-PainRelief. com Explains What to Do When You Encounter Back Pain

I-PainRelief. com explains that advances in medicine have created many treatment options for people seeking back pain relief.

(PRWEB) August 31, 2005

I-PainRelief. com explains that advances in medicine have created many treatment options for people seeking back pain relief. Alternative treatments have increased in number and availability as well. However, there is still no “miracle cure” able to rid the world of back pain once and for all. Since the intensity, causes and specific conditions vary with each patient, you need to discuss treatment options with a health care professional in order to tailor treatment to your specific condition.

Patients have an almost daunting number of choices of medications, some of which alleviate not only back pain but reduce inflammation, muscle tension, and spasms too. Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) include aspirin, ibuprofen, and a host of prescription medicines. Taken regularly, these medications can significantly reduce inflammation and resulting back pain, and also provide back pain relief when taken during acute episodes.

Acetaminophen comes in many over-the-counter medications. It acts as an analgesic, and is often used to treat acute pain. These medications can be taken alone or in conjunction with NSAIDs. Potential harmful side effects of acetaminophen include liver and kidney damage.

According to I-PainRelief. com, acupuncture has been used in China for over 2,000 years and was first popularized in the United States in the 1970s. This ancient alternative to traditional ‘Western’ medicine has received validation by research studies which have documented acupuncture’s beneficial effects on patients, but many within the medical community are wary of relying too heavily on this form of treatment, as modern medicine has not been able to fully explain how acupuncture works.

Another alternative treatment, chiropractic, is based on the understanding that a properly functioning nervous system is essential for good health. The spinal column is quite literally the ‘backbone’ of the nervous system, because the spinal cord is encased inside it, as well as nerve roots that branch out into the entire body. Chiropractors adjust the spine of patients, aligning the vertebrae and correcting stress-inducing imbalances.

Yoli Announces New Athletic Recovery Product, Endorsed by Gold Medalists Carl Lewis and Bryan Clay

Yoli, Inc., a direct sales company distributing delicious beverages that are filled with nutritional supplements and devoid of sugar, artificial ingredients, and no pasteurization, is announcing an exciting new product. FUN Alkalete Capsules deliver a therapeutic dose of the proprietary “Alkalete” super mineral product designed to assist the body in recovery from athletic events and other strenuous activities. Alkalete also helps the body achieve ideal alkalinity, the new buzz word in health and wellness. Customers are raving about the fast results, and reassured by the product’s eight year track record of complete safety.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) May 14, 2010

Yoli, Inc., a cutting edge nutritional beverages company and the exclusive distributor of the popular lemon-lime FUN Active Blast beverage, recently announced the company’s plans to release FUN Alkalete Capsules immediately as a promotional pre-launch. “FUN Alkalete Capsules give a mega dose of the proprietary Alkalete ingredient. This will be the product that puts Yoli into massive momentum, the results speak for themselves,” said Corey Citron, Yoli’s co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer. This decision was prompted after customers of the Yoli FUN Active Blast beverage experienced amazing results in the areas of sports recovery and body alkalization.

Alkalete is formulated by pH Sciences, an eight-year-old Seattle based company dedicated to bringing the extremely important message of body alkalization to the people of the world. Co-founder David Matteson, veteran to the natural foods and nutritional supplement industry, stated recently in an interview, “Yoli’s focus on delivering live, active ingredients into the human body is so aligned with pH Sciences’ mission for improving people’s ability to be active and healthy. It’s a perfect match for us.”

In The News

From Anthony Robbins, to Dr. Oz, and even Oprah, everyone has positive things to say about products that help alkalize the body. Because of our modern diet and lifestyle, most people’s bodies are too acidic, exposing the vast majority of people to degenerative disease and poor health. Yoli is not only dedicated to educating the nation on the benefits of proper pH balance, but they’re offering a specific solution to the problem of high acidity in the body. The answer is Yoli’s exclusive new breakthrough, patented product, Alkalete™. “I’ve been tracking the clinical trials and the double blind placebo controlled studies using this nutritional compound for the last eight years and it has been remarkable, I can’t tell you how excited we are to have a worldwide exclusive on Alkalete,” stated Daren Falter, co-founder and Executive VP of Yoli.

Yoli Attracts World Champion Athletes

Most people know Carl Lewis as the “fastest man in the world” as he was titled after winning eight gold medals. Carl now faithfully uses Yoli products in his own training and shares them with others. Bryan Clay, repeat indoor world champion in the heptathlon and current gold medal holder in the decathlon, is not only using Yoli’s Alkalete and other products, but Yoli’s are the only products he’s using in his training. Recently Bryan was able to gain strength in his events even after losing 15 pounds, which for a decathlete, is ideal.

Whether customers are using Alkalete to help the body deal with athletic recovery, or whether they’re sprinkling the Alkalete granules on their pasta sauce or in their coffee to buffer the acidic properties of these foods, Yoli feels they have a product that will attract top leaders in the direct marketing arena. Yoli’s co-founder and President, Robby Fender, stated, “In just the short time that we have been testing Alkalete with our company founders, executives, employees, and distributors, we have experienced amazing results. This product is an entrepreneur’s dream!”

Yoli products are not available in stores and can only be purchased through a Yoli Independent Distributor.

Phoenix Plastic Surgeon Designs Anti-Aging Cookbook for a Beautiful & Healthy You in the New Year

Phoenix Plastic Surgeon Designs Anti-Aging Cookbook for a Beautiful & Healthy You in the New Year

Phoenix plastic surgeon, Dr. Heidi Regenass, offers an anti-aging cookbook using the power of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals in the foods we eat to encourage health and vitality. It is these well chosen ingredients that help us to fight off the signs of aging from the inside out.

Glendale, AZ (PRWEB) January 4, 2009

With the New Year, Phoenix plastic surgeon (http://www. drheidi. com), Dr. Heidi Regenass encourages fitness goals for exercise and healthy food choices. But Dr. Regenass also offers the idea of internal health promoting external beauty - what we eat helps us to fight off the signs of aging.

In Glendale near Phoenix, plastic surgeon (http://www. drheidi. com), Dr. Regenass comments, "We have to use the power of our food ingredients to slow down the aging process. Antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients all play a significant role in our health which also reflects in the severity of our fine lines and wrinkles and our skin elasticity."

Proper nutrition is always the first advice from health advocates and physicians in keeping the body strong and healthy. It is in recent years that antioxidants have been recognized for their intimate involvement in the prevention of cellular damage. Cellular damage is a major contributor to cancer, diseases, and aging. Antioxidants can slow the cellular damage - slow the aging process.

It is these power foods or superfoods that have been singled out for their high nutrient properties and for the roles they play in reducing the symptoms of premature aging. Dr. Regenass has combined her in-depth knowledge of nutrition and anti-aging to develop a cookbook loaded with recipes designed around good foods and good flavor.

Dr. Regenass again, "Healthy eating, anti-aging eating, does not taste bad. With beautiful, fresh ingredients, and incredible spices and flavors, these recipes are easy to make, bursting with flavor and the added benefit is slowing the process of aging from the inside out."

Dr. Heidi provides some of her favorite easy recipes full of anti-aging superfoods. These recipes are designed to spark your imagination and give you the desire to make anti-aging foods part of your daily diet, thereby contributing to a healthier, happier and more gorgeous you.

Dr. Regenass is a plastic surgeon, but she believes that plastic surgery should never be the first answer to beauty. "Beauty, health, and vitality are all reflective of our lifestyles. One who eats nutritious foods and exercises will have a much better cosmetic surgery result than one who does not exercise or eat properly on a regular basis."

"Cosmetic surgery and non-surgical treatments such as BOTOX Cosmetic, injectable fillers, and laser skin resurfacing are tools to help us fight aging and appear youthful, but they should be complimented with other choices - exercise and the foods we eat, " says Dr. Regenass.

Some cosmetic surgery options to help fight the aging battle are incredibly beneficial for their subtle changes but highly effective results such as brow lift. Phoenix (http://www. drheidi. com/brow_lift) patients enjoy the natural refreshed look after a brow lift procedure with Dr. Regenass. "My goal is always beautiful, refreshed, natural-looking results."

Eyelid surgery, Phoenix (http://www. drheidi. com) surgeon, Dr. Regenass, suggests to open the eye area for a less angry or less tired appearance. "It's amazing what an eyelift can do for one's appearance. It opens the eye and makes a more alert and youthful face."

Pioneering Data Capture Partnership to Boost Plant Safety

Pioneering Data Capture Partnership to Boost Plant Safety

An innovative data capture system designed to facilitate the scheduling and performance of ATEX 137 inspections has helped forge a new working partnership which aims to create a new generation of software-based data capture and plant inspection products.

York, UK (PRWEB) October 20, 2006

An innovative data capture system designed to facilitate the scheduling and performance of ATEX 137 inspections has helped forge a new working partnership which aims to create a new generation of software-based data capture and plant inspection products.

IndEX, the pioneering hand-held data capture software package for regulated environments has helped seal the new partnership between its creator, industrial software developer Terrington Data Management and the Safety Consultancy Division of Aston Dane Plc, which has bases in Dublin, Cork, Widnes, Sheffield and Alcester.

The partnership started after Aston Dane Plc, which has 100 staff and works throughout Britain, the Republic of Ireland and continental Europe, as well as having completed projects in Africa and Russia, prototyped an in-house data capture system but realised the benefit of a more flexible product based around an off-the-shelf package.

The company’s market research identified York-based Terrington as offering the right type of product, approach and services to become its software provider.

IndEX, which has been widely taken up across UK industry, is an innovative, mobile, secure and scalable system which creates paperless ATEX 137 inspections for electrical equipment through a complete set of one-touch data entry forms for all explosion protection types, schedules, audit and reporting functions.

The system, which has been developed and refined by Terrington Data Management for three years, operates in real-time as captured data is downloaded instantly to a computer, eliminating the time lapse and potential for errors, associated with copying written records.

In the first stage of the partnership, Aston Dane Plc, which provides design, engineering, project management, consultancy and facilities management expertise, is working with Terrington to adapt and supply IndEX to its own existing clients so they can manage their assets and schedule and carry out maintenance and regulatory inspections such as ATEX 137 inspections and maintain activity and audit logs more efficiently.

The two businesses have now integrated their business processes and software solutions with Terrington incorporating Aston Dane’s suggested modifications to enable the product to be targeted to a wider range of potential users.

Aston Dane director, Shane Carter, says: “Most software developers aim to create generic products but Terrington combines this with a dynamic, enterprising outlook and was happy to create the additional functionalities we required. We now have data capture technology with great scope to meet our customers’ current and future needs and a robust development partner.

“Now, as well as supplying IndEX, our partnership will combine our broad knowledge of the end-user market with Terrington’s considerable software development and data capture expertise to facilitate the development of new software products. This is an exciting prospect for both our businesses and for plant safety staff and managers everywhere.”

Terrington Data Management managing director, Mark Williams, says: “IndEX and its umbrella system, Transform, are already widely recognised as highly successful products that are proven in a range of regulated environments to work and deliver real operational savings.

“We look forward to working with Aston Dane plc on this and other possible software development projects to enhance plant hazardous area inspections, maintenance and health and safety.”

Precision Communications Announces Name Change and Rebrands to Attention

Precision Communications, AtlantaÂ’s most innovative and revolutionary marketing firms, announced that it is has changed its name to Attention, launched a new Web site at (www. attentiongroup. com) and expanded into a virtual agency.

Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) August 16, 2004 -

– Precision Communications, Atlanta’s most innovative and revolutionary marketing firms, announced that it is has changed its name to Attention, launched a new Web site at (www. attentiongroup. com) and expanded into a virtual agency.

The name change is reflective of what the firmÂ’s clients keep saying the consultancy has done the most for them. According to the Company, clients comment how effective the principal has been getting them the attention they need.

“Clients look to us to attract attention that helps them build awareness and get new business,” said Daryl S. Toor, Chief Awareness Officer of Attention.

Unlike traditional marketing agencies, the firm focuses on driving and supporting sales with on-target marketing that monopolizes their marketplace.

Started in 2000 as a PR consultancy, Toor quickly expanded his offerings into other marketing disciplines as clients felt he could offer more visibility for less to them than traditional advertising or public relations agencies.

In addition to its PR offerings of Precision Media Relations, Targeted Article Placement, Executive Visibility Program (EVP), PAYPERCLIP™ pay for performance PR programs, and TradeShowStoppers™, (www. tradeshowstoppers. com), Attention today now offers its Weblicity® Search Engine Marketing, MercuryMessages® email marketing, (www. mercurymessages. com), and direct mail programs and Website design for clients through a virtual network of marketing specialists with more than 60 years of combined experience.

Increased demand of his services has created the need of Attention to form a “virtual agency” which offers clients the resources of a larger agency without having to pay for “the conference room view of the skyline.” Rather than just relying on general experience to offer one client, a targeted team approach allows the virtual marketing agency the ability to create a team with expertise specifically relevant to a client's needs. The focused attention on the client's business allows for a reduction in turnaround time to deliver results.

“Clients will always receive my personal attention but have the added security of a dedicated team working behind the scenes to meet its every need and provide the same results of a larger, full-service agency,” said Toor.“We are a one-stop shop for fast ROI programs that help get the word out,” he added.

“Clients want to see that you are willing to do whatever it takes, learn every possible inch of their industry, and be right there with them as they grow, expand, or launch that new product in an unproven territory. And through it all, clients want loyalty and cost-efficiency. Supporting those needs, while working in full partnership, we are proving to be effective as well as enormously targeted in providing clear, concise marketing solutions to the client,” Toor added.

Electric Scooter Grants 80-year-old from Texas New Outlook for Life

Electric Scooter Grants 80-year-old from Texas New Outlook for Life

Medical Wonder Receives Gift of Mobility from The Scooter Store

Plainview, TX (PRWEB) May 8, 2007

Mitchell Kelley's family nearly lost him six times. Though he survived several life-threatening heart attacks, severe diabetes complications and respiratory failure, he was physically debilitated and his family was emotionally exhausted. Doctors deemed Mr. Kelley, 79, a medical wonder. The Scooter Store deemed him a perfect candidate to receive a Gift of Mobility.

As part of its Gift of Mobility program, Mr. Kelley received a new electric scooter (http://www. thescooterstore. com) from The Scooter Store at his home today. The donation was made in partnership with Dream Foundation, the nation's first and largest organization that grants wishes to adults who have been physically, emotionally and financially devastated by serious illness. The delivery was made by Jason Ratliff, The Scooter Store's Lubbock Store Manager.

Mr. Kelley's daughter, Judy Enos, worn down from her own medical troubles, reached out to The Scooter Store when a string of medical misfortunes rendered her father weak, depressed and virtually immobile.

"During this past year alone, we have nearly lost my dad due to respiratory complications caused by congestive heart failure and pneumonia, " says Ms. Enos. "Daddy only had 20 - 30 percent of his heart functioning at one time."

There's more.

"He is a severe diabetic and sometimes has to have up to six or seven shots of insulin a day," his daughter adds. "He also has emphysema and chronic bronchitis and has to have four oxygen treatments daily."

Due to Mr. Kelley's severe diabetes, his feet are in bad shape and the distance he can walk is limited. Furthermore, respiratory problems hampered his breathing and blood circulation.

But The Scooter Store (http://www. thescooterstore. com) is helping reverse Mr. Kelley's dismal outlook.

"I saw an advertisement for The Scooter Store on television and talked to daddy about this. He was so excited. It was like he had some hope to get out of the room," says Ms. Enos.

This is what Doug Harrison, CEO and Founder, of The Scooter Store, envisioned when he created the Gift of Mobility Program in December 2002. Since its inception, the outreach program has worked with organizations around the world to yearly donate up to 70 power wheelchairs, electric scooters and manual wheelchairs valued at more than $200,000 to community service organizations, enabling them to provide freedom, independence and personal integrity to individuals with limited mobility.

"We are pleased that Mr. Kelley's quality of life will be improved by this donation," said Mr. Harrison, who started the company with his wife, Susanna, in 1991. "As we strive to be good corporate citizens, our Gift of Mobility (http://www. thescooterstore. com) program allows us to give back. We hope that this scooter allows Mr. Kelley and his family to enjoy better days."

Ms. Enos says her father's new mobility will grant him a seventh chance at life. "I know that once my father is able to move around, he will leave the room, go do some activities and have a whole new outlook on life."

About The Scooter Store
Since 1991, The Scooter Store has helped provide freedom and independence to more than 285,000 people with limited mobility. The Scooter Store offers a full line of durable medical equipment, including power wheelchairs and scooters, lift, ramps and accessories in 47 states, including seven locations in Texas. Milpitas, CA (PRWEB) April 16, 2004 -

— To commemorate Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, Child Advocates of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is hosting and participating in outreach events to educate the public about child abuse in our community. Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month has been observed every April since its presidential proclamation in 1983. It was established to focus public attention on the protection and care of our nation's most vulnerable children.

Each year, there are more than 20,000 reports of child abuse and approximately 3,000 abused, neglected, and abandoned children placed in foster care in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Children who suffer abuse or neglect are 53 percent more likely to become juvenile delinquents, 38 percent more likely to be arrested as adults, and 38 percent more likely to become violent criminals, according to a study conducted for the National Institute of Justice. What's more, abused and neglected children have lower IQs and reading ability, higher rates of unemployment, more low-paying jobs, and higher rates of suicide attempts. "It is important that the public understands that child abuse is a significant problem with long-term consequences," says Gisela B. Bushey, Child Advocates' executive director. "'At the same time, the public should know that each of us can play a role in its prevention."

About Child Advocates of Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties

Child Advocates is one of the leading and most effective nonprofit organizations serving abused and neglected children in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Most of the children served by the agency have been removed from the only home they have known and placed in foster homes or institutions for their own safety. Each of the agency's highly-trained volunteers is appointed by the court to work one-to-one with a foster child, and acts as an advocate, mentor, and caring friend. The Advocate's primary responsibility is to speak for the child's best interests in court, helping to ensure that he or she will live in a safe and loving environment and has the resources needed to grow up healthy and strong. Child Advocates has served thousands of children and youth since its founding in 1986 and is one of the largest affiliates of CASA, the National Court Appointed Special Advocates program.

AAMU Scientists Eliminate Major Peanut Allergen

AAMU Scientists Eliminate Major Peanut Allergen

Food biotechnologists at Alabama A&M University have been successful at isolating and removing the most potent of allergens that cause health problems in persons allergic to peanuts.

Huntsville, Ala. (PRWEB) December 7, 2005

Food biotechnologists at Alabama A&M University have successfully eliminated a major peanut allergen that causes sometimes fatal reactions in many people throughout the world.

There are at least six distinct peanut allergens that pose problems in some people who eat peanuts or its derivatives, say Dr. Hortense Dodo (pronounced with long vowels) and research colleague Dr. Koffi Konan. Using a process referred to as RNA Interference (RNAi), the scientists were able to transform peanut tissues and silence the Ara h2 allergen gene, thus eliminating one of the proteins which triggers allergic reactions.

Dodo called peanut allergies the most deadly of the food allergies. The Ara h2 allergen and other peanut allergens, for instance, are responsible for causing such symptoms as hives, swelling, respiratory problems, gastrointestinal difficulties and anaphylactic shock.

Peanuts represent a more than $4 billion industry, says Dodo, and they are a cheap source of high quality proteins, good fats, vitamins and minerals. Moreover, the crop can be grown “almost anywhere,” she adds.

Why the Increase in Peanut Allergies?

“The number of people experiencing allergic reactions to peanuts is increasing every year,” commented Dr. Dodo from one of her labs on the AAMU campus. She noted that “more and more accidental deaths” occur as people unknowingly ingest foods that include peanut flour or oil. The tragic death last week of a 15-year-old Canadian girl is one such example.

Dodo says scientists are not really sure what is happening that is causing the rise in the number of new cases of peanut allergies each year. Most of the cases involve young children, notes Dodo. Some researchers suggest that statistics were not as prevalent in decades past. Others point to a more sanitized lifestyle that has caused American immune systems to lose their bite. But one thing seems certain, notes Dodo--peanut allergies are not as common in developing countries.

Permanent Eradication of Peanut Allergy

Admittedly, the road toward the development of allergen-free peanuts was a long and winding one. Dodo and Konan say it took some time to refine a process that yielded a transgenic hypoallergenic peanut plant that produced seeds. The AAMU researchers applied the RNAi process, which could permanently eliminate allergens’ accumulation in peanut, and they finally saw a light at the end of the research tunnel in February 2005.

Since that time, Dodo and Konan have been growing subsequent generations of the transgenic plant and testing for the presence of the most potent peanut allergens, which theoretically should not re-occur. In the world of peanut research, a generation could mean six months or longer.

Of course, other scientists are approaching the peanut allergy problems in a variety of ways, including the development of methods to treat the allergic patient. Dodo and Konan, however, prefer to find solutions by looking directly at “the culprit”—the peanut itself.

“Our goal in developing a hypo-allergenic and allergen–free peanut is not to push people who are allergic to peanuts to eat them,” explains Dodo, “but to foster industry-wide use of the new peanut variety in processed foods that contain peanuts. So, if a person allergic to peanuts accidentally eats such foods, doing so should not trigger a severe reaction or death.”

Studies are currently underway at AAMU, says Dodo, to determine if the new transgenic peanuts maintain their nutritional quality. Dr. Dodo is looking for commercial partners.

APhA Welcomes New Leader

APhA Welcomes New Leader

Menighan Envisions Expanded Role for Pharmacists

Washington, DC (Vocus) July 2, 2009

The American Pharmacists Association (http://www. pharmacist. com/) (APhA) is pleased to announce the installation of its new Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas E. Menighan, BSPharm, MBA. In February 2009, Menighan was appointed as APhA's Executive Vice President and CEO-Designate and began the transition into his new role. He is the 26th pharmacist to serve in this role and succeeds Dr. John A. Gans who served in the same capacity for the last 20 years.

A native of West Virginia, Menighan brings extensive business, entrepreneurial, practice and leadership experience to his new role, as well as the unique experience of having served in various volunteer positions and as a former staff member for APhA. In 1974, he received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 1990 from Averett College.

Menighan has served the profession in a variety of capacities prior to being appointed as APhA's new leader. Most recently, he was President of SynTegra Solutions Inc., in Germantown, Maryland. The company provides supply chain and chargeback auditing and consulting in risk management, 340B Systems, anti-counterfeiting, and the technology of medication information. Earlier Menighan also founded SymRx, Inc., and developed CornerDrugstore. com©.

Pursuant to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Menighan was actively involved with APhA, serving as president from 2001 to 2002 and as a member of the APhA Board of Trustees between 1995 and 2003. From 1987 to 1992, he was a senior APhA staff member serving as senior director of external affairs. During this time he managed membership, state affairs, public relations, new business development and practice management issues.

"Tom has the experience and skills needed to lead APhA into the next generation of pharmacy, where pharmacists are recognized by patients, health care providers and legislators alike as critical to patient care," said APhA's current President Ed L. Hamilton. "Menighan's knowledge and experience as a pharmacist, volunteer, leader, stakeholder and advocate for the profession will give him a solid foundation for his new role."

Menighan's days as a practicing pharmacist began in 1974 with Thrift Drug Company and continued in 1978 when he founded the Medicine Shoppe in Huntington, West Virginia, which he owned for 20 years. In addition to a traditional practice with a heavy focus on patient counseling and disease management, Menighan expanded his Shoppe's compounding services every year.

Menighan recognizes the value that being an active member of a professional association has had on his professional life. He is also keenly aware of the power that technology has played in revolutionizing pharmacy practice. Menighan will use these experiences to stay in close contact with APhA members and other pharmacy stake holders through his personal blog. Today, Menighan launched the APhA CEO Blog (http://blog. pharmacist. com/tmenighan/). His blog will provide insight into the new leader's travels and thoughts on activities of the association, the profession, and the health care community at a time when health care reform (http://www. pharmacist. com/AM/Template. cfm? Section=Health_Care_Reform) is at the top of the nation's political and personal agenda.

Menighan's other professional experiences include management of the PharMark Corporation, creator of RationalMed©, and licensed systems for states to conduct Drug Utilization Review for millions of state Medicaid enrollees. Since 1981, he has served as Founder, Pharmaceutical Director, Chief Financial Officer, and partner of Pharmacy Associates, Inc., a multi-state specialty pharmacy that today serves patients in much of the United States.

About the American Pharmacists Association (http://www. pharmacist. com/) (APhA)
The American Pharmacists Association, founded in 1852 as the American Pharmaceutical Association, represents more than 62,000 practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and others interested in advancing the profession. APhA, dedicated to helping all pharmacists improve medication use and advance patient care, is the first-established and largest association of pharmacists in the United States. APhA members provide care in all practice settings, including community pharmacies, health systems, long-term care facilities, managed care organizations, hospice settings, and the uniformed services.
