The Iraq Policy of Presidential Hopeful Senator Katherine Laforge

The Iraq Policy of Presidential Hopeful Senator Katherine Laforge

Senator Katherine Laforge, presidential hopeful for the 2004 election, is impacting the race to the Oval Office with her no nonsense polititical platform and her detailed solutions for the problems facing America.

Lumberton, TX (PRWEB) October 22, 2004

As Election Day nears, the world is being impacted by the views of Presidential hopeful, Senator Katherine Laforge, a write-in candidate for the President of the United States for 2004. Since the announcement of her candidacy, Katherine Laforge has enjoyed the popular support of multitudes of Americans as her no nonsense solutions for problems facing America, have become publicized and better understood. Her qoal is to ultimately motivate millions of previously “disconnected” voters to vote on November 2nd.

One of the issues, she is most quoted on, is her stands on terrorism and the Iraq war. In a recent interview she was asked to express her views on the Iraq War. Senator Laforge offered the following statement:

The military threat Iraq posed in the Middle East and Saddam Hussein’s constant support of terrorist and their organizations was a conflict that I had hoped I could have settled without military intervention. As my soon to be released book details, I was involved with a highly sensitive operation called “Hulagu,” that probably would have solved the Iraq crisis with very little bloodshed. Unfortunately, my accident in Baghdad prevented this clandestine operation from succeeding. Without an alternative solution for this conflict we were entwined in, war was inevitable.

The reasons for the war are all well known, even if some armchair quarter-backers now dispute its necessity. As my colleague Ted Kennedy said September 27, 2002 “We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."

Iraq has been a country at war for the last quarter of a century. They fought a protracted war with their neighbor Iran from 1980 to 1988 and then invaded Kuwait in 1990. After IraqÂ’s ejection from Kuwait, The United Nations demanded that Iraq dismantle itsÂ’ weapons programs of mass destruction. But that did not happen and as Nancy Pelosi eloquently said on Dec 16, 1998 "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."

Some people prefer not to confront a tyrant, or to look the other way as they terrorize the unfortunate, others prefer to declare their saintly neutrality with the belief that if you do not anger a tyrant he will not bother you or just disappear. But that is not the way it works when you are dealing with rogue nations. Your acquiescence to their hostile acts signals to them that you are a coward that will accept their will.

Madeline Albright, Clinton’s Secretary of State stated on Feb 18, 1998, “Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." President Saddam Hussein did not offer us many alternatives to resolve our issues with his tyranny in the Middle East. It was really not a question at all if he had or would use weapons of mass destruction because our fears had already been realized many times over. Sandy Berger, Clinton’s National Security Adviser stated on Feb. 18, 1998, “He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."

The need to resolve this issue was agreed on across party lines. On Sept. 23, 2002, Al Gore, our former Vice President of the United States stated, "We know that he [Hussein] has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

A few months later operation “Iraqi Freedom” began. The blitzkrieg war between the armies ended quickly with few deaths. President Bush set the new focus of the operation as the reconstruction phase of rebuilding Iraq that had been torn apart by over 20 years of war. This new phase included the capture or elimination of those who want the carnage of war to continue unabated. Remnants of the old regime, opportunist, and terrorist from other countries continue waging a bloody psychological war against all who are trying to rebuild a better Iraq. Barbaric terror attacks are launched daily against those attempting to help peace or establish a new governing body in Iraq. These attacks are enthusiastically publicized by the news media that has become the de facto or hijacked propaganda arm of the terrorist spreading their messages of evil and aggrandizing them. Margaret Thatcher once said “Democratic nations must try to find ways to starve the terrorist and the hijacker of the oxygen of publicity on which they depend.” Her sentiment was correct then and is as equally correct today.

Diabolic terror gangs orchestrate these heinous acts of evil against innocent Iraqis, foreign workers, diplomats, and our soldiers. These acts include the bombing of civilians, hacking off the heads of innocent hostages, blowing up churches, and destroying the infrastructure of Iraq.

As these atrocities spread across Iraq, some nations surrendered to the savagery in Iraq and left the country in shame, capitulating to these thugs and embolden them with a new sense of power. Their capitulation signaled these bloodthirsty thugs that sovereign nations would bow to ruthlessness if brutality were used against their citizens.

Freedom does not come cheap nor do those receiving it always immediately cherish it. Between 1861 and 1865 our country fought a deadly war to give freedom to those held in slavery. Our president then was a Republican named Abraham Lincoln. Half of our nation held him in bitter contempt, but he held strong to his principle that all men should be free and around 600,000 men died over the struggle that ensued from this simple belief. There are no days set aside to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice these noble brave men made to free other men. In fact in most quarters the sacrifice of life made by these soldiers to free men they did not even know is not recognized at all. The civil war tore our country apart not just for the 4 years of the actual war but also for years after. The same thing is happening in Iraq. Many of the freed, side with their previous oppressors than those who liberated them. Why is this? When the yoke of slavery is cast off but the old master still lives down the road, people do not feel free. In a country like Iraq declaring freedom does not feed them, keep them warm or keep them healthy.

People who have been oppressed for ages find surviving more important than our noble idea of freedom. We must stay the course in Iraq and not capitulate to the barbarism that infects this wonderful country of culture. I would not want our nation to be held in contempt and ridiculed by the terrorist and thugs who are out to destroy Iraq presently.

If we walk away from this with our heads bowed, we have disgraced our men and women who fought so valiantly and won all the battles. This is not a war like Vietnam where 5000 soldiers a year were killed; this is a war where the combat deaths virtually equal the annual murder count of the windy city of Chicago. It is horrible that any soldier should die in a war as divisive and unappreciated as this one, but if we crawl away from this struggle, the next battle with terrorist and international thugs will be that much harder to win because we will have demonstrated how easy it is to divide us and destroy the will of our nation. In confrontations like these there are no ties, there are only those who win and those who walk away in shame. If I was president, we would stay the course.

Recently, President Bush said “The next commander in chief must lead us to victory in this war, and you cannot win a war when you don’t believe you’re fighting one,” I agree with this statement. We must take an enemy seriously, that has mesmerized its supporters to gladly die as suicide bombers simply to kill those who believe different then they do. I am in politics because of the conflict between good and evil, and I believe that in the end good will triumph. These were words uttered by Margaret Thatcher but they amply express my sentiments today.

You may read other views of Senator Katherine Laforge from her platform page at www. hulagusweb. com/platform. htm (http://www. hulagusweb. com/platform. htm) and from her soon to be released book, “Hulagu’s Web – The presidential pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge.” We believe you will find her views and solutions to the problems that all Americans face a refreshing change from the “Jerry Springer” style campaign statements made by other candidates.

US Conference of Catholic Bishops Report Admits Most Clergy Abuse Claims Held by Older Adults

US Conference of Catholic Bishops Report Admits Most Clergy Abuse Claims Held by Older Adults

Attorney Irwin Zalkin provides commentary on the recently issued US Conference of Catholic Bishops report.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 15, 2009

In a report published earlier this week by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), dioceses in the US spent $23 million in 2008 to prevent sexual abuse (www. usccb. org/ocyp/annual_report2008.shtml (http://www. usccb. org/ocyp/annual_report2008.shtml)). The report admits that most recent reports of abuse concern offenses against victims in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.

"There is no doubt, and it's not surprising, that the number of claims for childhood sexual abuse against Catholic clergy has increased over the years," said attorney Irwin Zalkin of the Zalkin Law Firm. "But overall, trusting a report on childhood sexual abuse from the USCCB is like trusting a report on the health effects of smoking from a tobacco company executive. Rather than hide behind a PR smokescreen, for the benefit of believers and victims alike the Church should just be transparent -- as they keep promising they will be."

Zalkin has negotiated settlements in excess of $200 million dollars representing hundreds of victims of childhood sexual abuse throughout the country against the Catholic Diocese.

"For years, Catholic Bishops represented by the USCCB have resisted grand jury subpoenas, refused to provide records in civil lawsuits, and facilitated the escape of known perpetrators to foreign countries," explained Zalkin. "This recent report is nothing more or less than a lobbying gimmick; the Church has known for decades about the depth and breadth of the scourge of childhood sexual abuse by their priests and other religious personal."

The effects of childhood sexual abuse are so devastating that they often take years to emerge as debilitating factors in a survivor's life. So by the time many survivors first recognize these effects, their state's statute of limitations has often passed and they are unable to file a legal claim. The new expansion of the statute of limitations in NY would permit many survivors of childhood sexual abuse -- especially those in their 30s, 40s, and 50s -- their first meaningful opportunity to hold accountable the entities responsible for their suffering and to address the emotional damages they experienced in their adult lives.

"The present statute of limitations in New York does not reflect an understanding of the emotional and intellectual progression of the stages of abuse," said Zalkin. "When institutions are not held responsible the public endures the financial burden of the emotional and psychological damage that sexual abuse causes."

With offices in New York and San Diego, The Zalkin Law Firm (www. nyclergyabuse. com) is one of the premier sexual abuse and personal injury law firms in the country. The firm's lawyers have achieved groundbreaking results in numerous high-profile clergy abuse cases across the United States.

Mr. Zalkin is available to speak to the media about clergy sexual abuse, the USCCB report, and the Child Victim's Act of New York (A. 4560-B). Please call Lisa Maynes (212-889-1300) to arrange interviews. To speak to Mr. Zalkin about legal representation, please call The Zalkin Law Firm (212-889-1300).

ATMP Consulting Group Launches Service for Private Practice Physicians to Gain Funding and Implement Electronic Medical Record Standard

ATMP Consulting Group Launches Service for Private Practice Physicians to Gain Funding and Implement Electronic Medical Record Standard

ATMP Consulting Group launches a new service to help private practice physicians select, implement and adapt IT solutions for electronic medical record alignment and compliance. The Michigan-based company aims to assist medical outlets in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and home state of Michigan.

Ann Arbor, Mich. (Vocus) October 29, 2009

ATMP Consulting Group, a strategic IT company specializing in electronic medical record (EMR) standards, announced today a new service to help private practice physicians select, implement, and adapt IT solutions for electronic medical record alignment and compliance.

In an effort to improve patient care, the health care industry aims to have every patient's paper medical history -- regardless of their location, doctor, or insurance company -- converted and stored electronically within a national EMR standard.

Having records stored electronically makes it easier for patients to move from one doctor to another and eliminate the redundancy of records. It saves time, dramatically reduces a paper trail and makes it easier for insurance companies, which will save everyone money. Most importantly, being able to access comprehensive patient data quickly will have a positive impact on patient care.

Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, $19 billion is available to doctors and clinics, as an incentive to invest in the technology upgrades necessary to bring their practices, and their patient's records, up to government-mandated EMR standards. Physicians that meet the criteria and implement a national EMR standard system will be reimbursed through Medicare and Medicaid bonuses spread out over a five-year timeframe.

"In order to qualify for these bonuses, physicians must choose an EMR system that provides meaningful use. They must adhere to specific guidelines set forth by Medicare and Health and Human Services," cautions Joe Dylewski, a health care IT professional and founder of ATMP Consulting Group.

"It extends beyond the basic implementation of software. A physician's EMR system must meet standards set forth by HIPAA for patient information privacy and security," he added. In addition, the selected software must comply with the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology, which is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides EMR certification authority.

Failures of already-implemented and in-process EMR solutions are staggering and costing physicians millions of dollars. These system failures can be caused by insufficient requirements analysis and architecture design, purchased applications that do not align with clinical processes, and lack of project management and governance expertise.

ATMP Consulting Group, a Michigan based company, has a proven business model to ensure physicians and medical clinics are compliant in electronic medical record (EMR) management. CoSign Digital Signature Healthcare Solution for South Carolina Department of Mental Health

CoSign Digital Signature Healthcare Solution for South Carolina Department of Mental Health

CoSign® digital signature solution is implemented by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH). With help from the leading digital signature company, ARX (Algorithmic Research), the comprehensive mental healthcare provider is advancing medical processes by moving toward a paperless office.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 29, 2008

CoSign® digital signature solution is implemented by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH). With help from the leading digital signature company, ARX (Algorithmic Research), the comprehensive mental healthcare provider is advancing medical processes by moving toward a paperless office.

More than 9,500 forms are generated to document the hundreds of medical procedures that are being performed each day throughout the 17 SCDMH medical facilities. These forms require signatures from both the healthcare professionals and their patients. Previous to the deployment of CoSign's digital signature solution, each form was printed out and signed by hand. As such, the SCDMH workflow was paper heavy and required the physical archiving of hundreds of thousands of documents each year. The processes' extensive costs in paper and time led the organization to implement an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system and the CoSign's digital signature solution, in order to expedite the workflow and complete their paperless cycle.

According to Rick Widdifield, Project Manager at SCDMH, "The vast amount of paper reduction the CoSign digital solution brought about can't be overstated in terms of how it advanced our workflow. As we move to implement CoSign at all 17 facilities, we expect to eliminate printing more than 2,850,000 documents each year."

Implementing the EMR system and CoSign's digital signature solution (http://www. arx. com/products/cosign-digital-signatures. php) at all of the SCDMH locations will eliminate the printing and signing of close to 10,000 documents each day. In the four healthcare facilities currently using CoSign, the migration to a paperless workflow has reduced the processing time by days. Paper-related expenses have been reduced by thousands of dollars. In conjunction with the implementation of CoSign, the organization has also employed numerous "point of service" signing pad locations. These locations allow patients to electronically sign documents (http://www. arx. com/documents/digital_signatures_in_a_document_intensive_organization. php), which healthcare employees can then verify with their own digital signatures, further alleviating SCDMH from having to reintroduce paper documents into the workflow for signing purposes.

"SCDMH's implementation of CoSign emphasizes the marketplace's increasing recognition of the benefits that the CoSign digital signature solution offers, including accelerated workflow processes and reduced workloads," said Rodd Schlerf, Sales Manager at ARX. Rodd added, "SCDMH's deployment also conveys the flexibility of the CoSign's digital signature solution by highlighting its capacity to easily incorporate third-party elements using a signing pad."

Merck Faces UK Lawsuits Over Vioxx Side Effects

Merck Faces UK Lawsuits Over Vioxx Side Effects

In the US, Vioxx has been found responsible for the death of a man taking the arthritis painkiller. Vioxx was withdrawn from worldwide use on 30 September 2004 following clinical trial results which showed an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. National law firm Irwin Mitchell is involved in a group claim through the English courts.

(PRWEB) August 26, 2005

FridayÂ’s judgment in the state court in Texas has found Vioxx responsible for the death of Robert Ernst, 59, and has awarded his family $253 million in damages from Merck, the producer of the drug. Merck has throughout denied liability and is likely to appeal.

While analystsÂ’ set Merck & CoÂ’s estimated liability for its withdrawn arthritis drug Vioxx at US $18 billion, the evidence supporting an increased risk of heart attack associated with Vioxx is mounting. There is also a growing realisation that Merck may have been aware of the risks posed by their medicine.

Vioxx, also known as Rofecoxib, was withdrawn from worldwide use on 30 September 2004 following clinical trial results which showed an increased risk of serious cardiovascular events, including heart attacks. National law firm Irwin Mitchell is working with Leigh Day & Co and Goodmans Solicitors to bring a group claim for compensation for adverse health effects caused by Vioxx in the English Court under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

Until its withdrawal, Vioxx was used by approximately 400,000 people in the UK. Irwin Mitchell, Leigh Day & Co and Goodmans are pursuing Vioxx claims on behalf of people who have suffered heart attacks, or who have seen their relatives die from heart attacks after taking Vioxx. It is not known precisely how many people have suffered a heart attack whilst taking Vioxx, however the three firms involved are currently representing over 200 claimants, and following this judgement it is expected that other Vioxx claims will come forward.

More information on the Vioxx lawsuit is available on the Irwin Mitchell website at http://www. irwinmitchell. com/groupaction/our_work/defective_products/drugs/vioxx_claim. asp (http://www. irwinmitchell. com/groupaction/our_work/defective_products/drugs/vioxx_claim. asp)

Expert Dentist Nushin Shir is Giving 120 Patients Free Dental Exams and Teeth Cleaning Services at Her Santa Monica Dental Practice

Expert Dentist Nushin Shir is Giving 120 Patients Free Dental Exams and Teeth Cleaning Services at Her Santa Monica Dental Practice

The Artistic Center for Dentistry partners with Heal the Bay to raise environmental consciousness throughout Santa Monica. In exchange for free dental treatment, the practice is asking that all patients donate $10 to support this outreach campaign.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) March 1, 2010

Dr. Nushin Shir, owner of Artistic Center for Dentistry, is celebrating the grand opening of her dental practice in Santa Monica, CA, by offering a month-long special from April 1st – 30th. One hundred and twenty new patients will receive free comprehensive dental exams that will include basic teeth cleaning services and limited check up x-rays. Additional treatments will be offered at 25% off their published rate.

“In these tough economic times where many families are hurting, the charitable contribution to nonprofits and their important missions has fallen significantly,” Dr. Shir says. “This is an ideal time to repay the support I have received from the community and to give back to one of the most important causes in Santa Monica, Heal the Bay. Amongst the great Karmas to be performed, charity is the greatest.”

The Artistic Center for Dentistry has partnered with Heal the Bay to promote the importance of making Southern California’s coastal waters and watersheds safe, healthy, and clean, while fostering a global value shift towards a sustainable and secure future. The center itself subscribes to this philosophy and is doing its part to minimize its carbon footprint. The Center is a chartless and therefore paperless office, thus helping to save trees. The office reduces its waste by eliminating the use of plastic products. The Center’s choice to use digital x-rays eliminates the hazardous chemicals that are used in their development from contaminating the waterways and also eliminates unnecessary radiation to its patients. The heavy equipment used is both dry and oil-less and therefore does not wastefully deplete water supplies. Oil-less machinery reduces the waste production of non-biodegradable materials that contaminate the oceans.

“Support from third parties, such as Artistic Center for Dentistry, are key to promoting greater awareness, broadening our member base, and generating funds to support our research, education, community action and advocacy,” said Natalie Burdick, Heal the Bay’s constituent development manager. “We are excited to be able partner with Dr. Shir on a health program that offers free dental exams to members of our local community.”

About Artistic Center for Dentistry:
Our mission is to create naturally beautiful smiles and enhance our patients overall well being by using the latest dental technologies in a stress-free, Zen environment. Artistic Center for Dentistry offers all aspects of general and cosmetic dental services including power teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, crown & bridges, tooth restoration, root canal therapy, orthodontics and more. We use digital x-rays with lowest radiation for patients’ safety. The center also offers a range of beauty and relaxation treatments that can bookend a patient’s dental experience such as massage, foot reflexology, hand and facial treatments, Botox and Dermal Fillers (Juvedern™). We employ the latest in green technologies to help minimize our carbon footprint.

Highly trained in complex and cosmetic dental procedures, owner and lead dentist, Dr. Nushin Shir, has served many well-known celebrities in addition to owning and managing several successful dental practices in Los Angeles County since 1993. She is a sought after dental expert in the field of dentistry and has been interviewed by USA Today, Who’s Who, and included in Time-Warner’s cable section on health in the areas of preventative and cosmetic dentistry.

Announcing The Launch Of A New Web Site Dealing With Medical Supplies

Announcing The Launch Of A New Web Site Dealing With Medical Supplies.

A new web site devoted exclusively to medical supplies has been launched. The new site will focus on supplies for the home and for a medical practice.

Auburn, WA (PRWEB) February 18, 2006

A new web site devoted exclusively to medical supplies has been launched. The new web site was designed to serve two basic purposes:

1. Where can an individual consumer locate medical supplies at a fair price

2. As a medical business owner, can I find my supplies cheaply

Not everyone will agree with the content of this site, but its felt that discounts should be given to consumers who may be on a budget. Web owner Scott Rihtedot notes that, "with the launch of www. a1-medical-supplies-4u. com we feel that consumers now have a venue for finding great medical supplies at reasonable costs. The internet has really helped in this endeavor.”

Quality, dependable Medical Equipment is an important component of every medical practice. It can’t be overstated that while the practice of medicine is an art, Medical Equipment is the science behind the implementation of that art.

Increasingly, patients are becoming more sophisticated in their understanding of the medical supplies and Medical Equipment that is being used to treat them. This means that a health care provider needs to know and understand not only how their equipment operates, but also have confidence that the Medical Equipment they use is of the highest quality.

FatExcuses. com Announces Free Weight Loss Tracker and Ability to Monitor Diet Progress

FatExcuses. com, a website for people who want to lose weight and monitor their diet progress, now offers one of the most comprehensive Free Weight Loss Trackers on the Internet.

Lumberton, NJ (PRWEB) December 1, 2008

The FatExcuses. com website came about after Mr. Michael Matteo, of Lumberton, NJ, had heard one excuse after another about why people were not dieting or sticking to their diet. He decided to do something about it, so in 2008 he launched FatExcuses. com, a website that initially started out as a compiled list of all the excuses people make for not losing weight. Today, FatExcuses. com is not only a website that includes a running list of the top excuses people use for not losing weight, it also offers one of the most comprehensive Free Weight Loss Trackers on the Internet with an ability to monitor diet progress, and a supportive message board community.

The Free FatExcuses. com Weight Loss Tracker allows users to track their daily weight and see their progress based on starting weight and goal weight. A progress bar and the percent the user has reached toward their weight loss goal are displayed. In addition, users can set up their personal food list and create a daily food diary. Daily calories are tracked and calculated vs. a personalized BMR (Calorie Burning Rate). The tracker uses the daily calories and burn rate data to calculate projected weight loss or gain. The diet tracker provides a view of the last 30 days, summarizing weights and calories allowing the user to quickly see their recent diet progress.

The site initially challenges visitors to find their favorite fat excuse and if they want, add to the list. Visitors may also use the website to start tracking their existing diet. In addition, FatExcuses. com offers information on today's most popular diets, healthy living articles, prescreened links, dieting message boards to allow dieters to help each other stay on their diets, and free diet tools.

Dieters strive to lose weight every year and for every diet tried and failed there are hundreds of excuses. FatExcuses. com comes to the rescue of dieters who are confused over the inundation of dieting information, and takes a lighter approach with a humorous list of excuses, solid dieting information about the most popular diets today, free diet tools, diet articles, as well as a comprehensive free diet tracker.

The website also features summaries of the most popular diets used today, including Weight Watchers®, Atkins™, South Beach Diet®, Jenny Craig Program®, Zone®, NutriSystem® and Fat Smash, followed by related articles on each diet.

Other Free Diet Tools include a Body Mass Index Calculator, BMR Calorie Burning Calculator, Calorie Calculator, and Exercise Calculator.

Protect Employee Health, Cut Costs and Receive a Free Pollution Evaluation Report from N Keepers Janitorial Services

Protect Employee Health, Cut Costs and Receive a Free Pollution Evaluation Report from N Keepers Janitorial Services

N Keepers Janitorial Services, a leading Phoenix-based commercial janitorial cleaning company, announces that for a limited time, it is offering a free five-page report to local businesses. The Green Cleaning Pollution Evaluation Report is being offered to help business owners learn of the volatile compounds that could be lurking in the office their effect on employees. N Keepers provides businesses a greener solution to janitorial services at a fraction of the cost.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) June 15, 2009

Though the effects of the weakened economy are being felt at businesses across the country, one area that companies must always budget for and take into account is employee health. Unsanitary offices environments can cause a variety of ailments, resulting in lost hours as employees take sick leave. Now, businesses can maintain a healthy work environment without high cost thanks to N Keepers Janitorial Services (www. nkeepers. com), a leading commercial janitorial cleaning company based in Phoenix.

For the next 29 days, N Keepers is offering a free five-page, computer-generated Green Cleaning Pollution Evaluation Report, as a way to do its part to help business owners maintain a clean, healthy work environment while cutting costs. The company offers this report as a part of its "Just To Compare" free, no obligation quote campaign.

"N Keepers can reduce commercial cleaning costs by up to 20 percent, meaning companies can save hundreds, if not thousands, on janitorial services, all while providing employees a better, healthier workplace," says Lisa Romero from N Keepers.

The causes of sickness due to an office or building's environment are fairly simple: chemicals in the building contaminate the air. The chemicals that most often cause office workers distress are commonly known as VOCs, volatile organic compounds. The EPA estimates that levels of VOCs found indoors can be up to ten times higher than those found outside. VOCs can be emitted as a gas from certain liquids or solid products, and can include a large variety of different chemicals. As a result of such an unsanitary office environment, employees can develop a range of symptoms and ailments, including headaches; eye, nose or throat irritation; dry cough; dizziness; nausea; fatigue; sensitivity to odors; difficulty concentrating; sneezing; asthma and more. N Keepers offers a solution to the VOCs derived from cleaning products by using only Natural Green Works products by Clorox.

Carpets are a huge contributor to low air quality indoors and can trap VOCs and other odors and irritants that can lead to illness, such as dust mites and allergens. N Keepers uses HEPA filtered vacuums to remove VOCs. Many allergists recommend frequent vacuuming with a HEPA filtered vacuum as an important step to better indoor air quality, since HEPA filters remove 99.97% of the allergens that pass through it.

N Keepers offers commercial janitorial services, landscaping, parking lot sweeping, supplies management and carpet cleaning, stripping and waxing. The company serves medical offices, professional offices, restaurants, bars, apartments, theaters, financial institutions, schools, multi-tenant facilities and religious institutions, and is certified to clean government contracting businesses.

Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch Allegedly Linked to Heart Attack and Stroke

Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch Allegedly Linked to Heart Attack and Stroke

With 60% more estrogen than birth control pills, the health risks of Ortho Evra Patch are increased

New York City, New York (PRWEB) April 17, 2006

The popular, widely promoted birth control patch contains more hormones than the traditional birth control pill and these hormones, progestin, estrogen, and norelgestromin, are delivered directly into the blood stream via a transdermal skin patch.

Whether caused by the high levels of hormones or the delivery method, Ortho Evra has been linked to blood clots, heart disease, stroke, and death in young adult women.

With reports of women dying from unexpected heart problems, the FDA recently asked the maker of Ortho Evra to revise the label to warn against the risk of blood clot, stroke, or heart attack. A woman’s risk of these side effects also increases with age, smoking habits, and pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.

A leading law firm, advertising on LawyersandSettlements. com, offers free case evaluations to women who have suffered blood clots, stroke, or other side effects from Ortho Evra; for more information, go to:

FMLA Changes Will Make Managing Employee Leave More Complex

FMLA Changes Will Make Managing Employee Leave More Complex

Paid leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is just one of the possible legislative changes that will further complicate employee absence management.

Minneapolis, Minn (PRWEB) June 12, 2008

Managing employee leave is complex and becoming more so every day. Legislation to mandate paid FMLA has been drafted in the U. S. Congress and is already a reality in several state and local jurisdictions. Some analysts believe federal changes in law are likely to be enacted within 12 months. What will these changes mean for businesses already struggling to manage employee absences?

“The FMLA was enacted in 1993 and from a compliance standpoint, the passage of time has not made employee absences, provided for under the act, any easier to administer,” explains Jim O’Connell, Ceridian’s vice president, government affairs & HR policy. “And new laws and regulations either already passed or being considered only add to the complexities of managing employee time off.”

Ceridian LifeWorks, a leading provider of leave administration (http://tinyurl. com/5ht22t) solutions for businesses, notes that according to the Department of Labor approximately 77 million employees are eligible to take leave under FMLA. Over the last five years an increasing number of workers have used the act and related state leave laws to be absent from work for everything from the birth of a child, a death in the family or any one of several medical or family occurrences determined to be FMLA qualifying events. But it is not always easy for employers to decide what constitutes a qualifying event, which is just one of the employer issues complicating the leave administration process.

According to Ronnie Bragen, Ceridian LifeWorks product manager, the issues employers now face when managing employee absences are converging to create “a perfect storm.” “Maintaining compliance in a changing regulatory environment is only one of the issues employers face when trying to keep on top of leave administration,” Bragen says. “Some of the other concerns include managing employer policy (paid time off) concurrence with FMLA, notification requirements, tracking intermittent and constantly changing leave status and absence dates, determining and managing the differences between paid and unpaid time off and several other administrative concerns.” But perhaps most surprising of all, Bragen notes, is that tracking employee leave is often still performed using a time consuming and cumbersome manual process.

These are just some of the reasons outsourcing leave administration can make more sense today than ever before. Third party leave administration can help employers:
Improve compliance  Increase productivity  Reduce costs and improve bottom lines  Become free of administrative burdens  Reduce controllable absenteeism  Minimize risk

The changing regulatory environment and the operational complexities of managing employee absences are just some of the issues discussed in a one-hour Web forum, Paid FMLA: What Could It Mean For You? (http://tinyurl. com/6nc7em) (May 27, 2008). The recorded session is available on Ceridian’s Web site, and answers several tough questions about what paid FMLA might mean to you and your company. For instance, will paid leave increase the potential for abuse and use of intermittent absences? And what affect will paid FMLA have on your company paid time off policies? To listen to the recording or learn more about how Ceridian’s Leave Administration solution might be right for your business, visit MyCeridian’s Leave Administration (http://tinyurl. com/6nc7em) page.

Acnecentre. com Launched With A New Key For Acne Fetters

Acnecentre. com Launched With A New Key For Acne Fetters

Acnecentre -- A new acne and skin care advice portal now works on the latest medical ideas to help teens and adults from acne hazards.

New York City, NY (PRWEB) September 1, 2008

Acne scars are flaws on skin which are the remnants after a person is afflicted by acne. Medical opinion states them as a mesodermic tissue-damage and consequent pits and scars. Thus the launch of Acnecentre. com comes as a healthy reprieve for all suffering teens and adults. Not only does the Acnecentre. com procure great acne prevention tips (http://www. acnecentre. com/c/prevention/) but avant garde approach to its possible treatment is also suggested.

Overexposure to sunlight is condoned and staying in shades and cool places fetching indirect sunlight for active intake of vitamin D is recommended at Acnecentre. com. Natural acne cures (http://www. acnecentre. com/c/natural-treatment/) have been long in tooth and Terpenes and natural oxidants have been alighted to the task with reasonable efficiency.

The more seasoned and mammoth approach lies in treating acne (http://www. acnecentre. com/c/treatment/) through laser treatment. The torch bearers of this cure illustrate the treatment of far chronic diseases as an argument in their case. Dermatologists, the world over use the method of exposing acne to succinct and sporadic burst of high intensity light. This in a spring effect changes the pigmentation below the skin, thus recoloring it. Highly amplified radiations kill the bacterial element and its frequency causes the required skin tautness. Acnecentre. com thus argues for the bi-faceted move of remedying while also cosmetically bettering the skin. Dermatologists at the centre also recommend mixed usage of laser and UV as the medical panacea science is looking for. This assertion is backed by tests which clearly show regeneration of healthy pores.

What can be unequivocally stated as "The best advice to keep acne away is not resorting to a flurry of self-proclaimed wonder creams, as they only make the facial skin, yards of dubious guinea-pig experiments. Consuming lots of water and healthy beverages constitute one nice way of controlling acne eruption. Exposing skin to mitigated sunshine and unmenacing air is another little recourse for skin rejuvenation." -- Says Miss Lucy Wee, founder of AcneCentre.

It is in this light that the role of acne centre is chalked out to perfection. The methodical team of repute at the centre goes a long way into appealing to the conventional thought-trains of society shorn of facial sheen and subservient to bogus applications. Acne centre is soon hitting out at us with greater expertise and eye-opening interviews meant to put some ratiocination among us. Acne, by and large, is remedied (http://www. acnecentre. com/c/remedies/) through applying ice cubes, which tighten pores. Tomato and cucumber are widely regarded as natural toners. Having said this, the centre believes that some time it further reverses the healing process if the skin texture and pigmenting capacity harbours incompatibility with the product.

Benzoyl peroxide, often referred to as the singular panacea in treatment of acne, constitutes major acne products (http://www. acnecentre. com/). Herbal remedies like actinium and brand products such as Cellex-c. Mario Badescu Skin Care has also caught the rage of the market but experts here at Acnecentre prescribe the use of Acnezine.

Overall, it looks as if Acnecentre. com (http://www. acnecentre. com/) is all set to stall themselves as the pioneers of a new wave of derm-science and their rapid foray into the land of acne eruptions mark their special place as rescuers of society on the fringes of this derm-disaster.

Americans Not Planning To Increase Vacation Spending - Despite Rise in Consumer Confidence Vacation Spending Relatively Unchanged

Americans Not Planning To Increase Vacation Spending - Despite Rise in Consumer Confidence Vacation Spending Relatively Unchanged

According to the Myvesta Summer Vacation Survey, Americans are not planning to increase the cost of their summer vacations in 2005.

Rockville, MD (PRWEB) June 13, 2005

Travelers across the United States taking a vacation this summer may be paying a similar amount as they did in 2004. According to the annual Summer Vacation Survey conducted by Myvesta, a nonprofit consumer education organization, the average American plans to spend $2,249 on their summer vacation this year, a small decrease from $2,252 in 2004.

“While consumer confidence has risen over the past year, that confidence hasn’t translated into a vastly different financial situation for the average American,” said Steve Rhode, president of Myvesta. “Concerns about the future economy and stagnant wage increases have kept those who are taking vacations this year from spending more on their summer trips.”

According to the Myvesta survey, of those taking a vacation, 75.1 percent plan to pay for all, or part, of their trip with a credit card. 30.3 percent of those paying with plastic planning to take three or more months to pay off the balance.

“Using a credit card is a great way to travel safe and keep track of your expenses, just make sure you’re not using borrowed money to finance a vacation you truly can’t afford,” said Rhode. “The best way to stay out of vacation debt is to plan ahead, research your trip, and save in advance for your expenses.”

People in the Midwest plan to spend the most on their summer getaways in 2005 with an average of $2,510. Northeast residents plan to spend $2,282. Those in the West plan to spend $2,141 and people in the South plan to spend $2,139.

For tips on saving money during your next summer vacation, read the Myvesta publication “How to Come Back From Vacation With Money in Your Pocket.” It can be downloaded for free from Myvesta. org online.

The Myvesta Summer Vacation Survey was conducted June 3-5 in a random telephone survey of 1,000 adult Americans.

Myvesta is dedicated to helping people create healthy financial lives. The organization provides a wide range of materials to inspire and inform people so that they can break down their barriers to financial and personal success. For more information visit Myvesta. org online.

Weight Management Doctor Gives Tips on Eating Healthy This Thanksgiving

Weight Management Doctor Gives Tips on Eating Healthy This Thanksgiving

Enjoying Your Thanksgiving Feast Doesn’t Have To Mean Adding On the Pounds

Naples, Fla. (PRWEB) November 24, 2009

Thanksgiving is just days away. For most of us, the holiday is marked by time spent with family and extreme overeating. Dr. Caroline Cederquist, MD, bariatric physician specializing in weight management and creator of diet delivery company Bistro MD says that the holidays don’t have to make the numbers on your scale climb.

“Big, abundant, sit-down dinners are likely to make their way into the schedule of even the most harried and hurried among us,” Dr. Cederquist states. “Thanksgiving (http://www. bistromd. com) is a day when many of us feel the need to break all the rules when, in fact, it is possible to enjoy the feast without ruining a week’s worth of healthy eating.”

“Perhaps the most important attitude adjustment is to be sure that you’re not thinking of yourself as a person who is trying to lose weight or avoid junk,” Dr Cederquist explains. “If you’re trying to eat better and get healthy, then think of yourself as a person who eats well and makes healthy choices.”

Cederquist goes on to say that it helps to be forearmed with a few defensive thoughts to call up in case someone brings that plate of cookies right over to you. Think of what motivates you to be eating better and getting healthy to begin with. “We have our patients write these out on index cards and keep their top motivations with them for quick reference in moments of temptation.”

If someone is particularly insistent about trying to ply you with sweets or goodies, be ready with a polite way to decline. “But don’t say, ‘I’m dieting’”, Dr. Cederquist (http://www. bistromd. com) warns. “That’s only going to invoke sympathy and good-natured encouragement to live a little.”

One avoidance strategy she suggests is to plan ahead. “When you’re faced with that big sit-down meal at Grandma’s, plan to stop before you get so full that you’re uncomfortable. Sure, the food is delicious and evokes all sorts of wonderful nostalgia, but you don’t need to overeat to enjoy the memories. Chew slowly, savor each bite, and really appreciate those special dishes. It’s a much better way to enjoy them than doing the stuff-and-suffer.”

Ask for small servings or serve yourself small portions to start with. “If you’re truly still hungry, go back for more,” Dr. Cederquist reminds. “That way, you can leave room for seconds of the really delectable dishes.”
If you’re the host, one trick to help slow the overeating at your holiday party is to try for buffet serving rather than putting all the food on the dining table.

“We actually recommend this to patients year round so that when they’re at home they fill the plates from the stove and bring them to the table,” Dr. Cederquist says. Repeated studies have shown that if food is within arm’s reach, more will be eaten. If you and your guests have to get up to grab seconds, less food will be consumed overall.

It takes about 30 minutes for the hormones that signal satiety to get the message from the stomach to the brain. Cederquist advises not to keep packing just because your brain doesn’t know your stomach is done.

Here are Dr. Cederquist’s top three tips for Thanksgiving (http://www. bistromd. com) feasting:

Hold the sauce – You can knock 100 calories or more off most sandwiches or salads—not to mention that pile of potatoes—by skipping the special sauce, dressing, or gravy.

Don’t supersize – Stick to reasonable-sized portions. Holidays are a great time for appreciating the abundance in our lives, but we can do that without upgrading to the supersize meal, either in the drive-through or at Grandma’s holiday buffet!

Skip the soda – A wide array of sodas on the buffet table may look hospitable, but regular soda will add hundreds of calories to a meal. A nice glass of ice water goes beautifully with any holiday meal; unsweetened ice tea or diet sodas are a decent second choice.

Dr. Caroline Cederquist, M. D. is board certified in family medicine and bariatrics, the specialty of medical weight loss. The team under her leadership at Cederquist Comprehensive Weight Control addresses the individual metabolic, hormonal, nutritional, social and behavioral needs of each patient. In addition, Dr. Cederquist is the creator of Bistro MD, the national home-delivery version of her dietary program. Bistro MD meals are prepared using cutting-edge technology to assure an optimal balance of convenience and nutrient content. Affordable dining plans are delivered right to dieters' homes.

Bistro MD specializes in diabetic meal plans, senior meal delivery, and gourmet diet (http://www. bistromd. com) programs. For more information, visit the Bistro MD (http://www. bistromd. com) website.

ANASAZI Foundation Offers College Credit to Wilderness Therapy Program Participants and Instructors

Young people treated by Arizona-based outdoor behavioral healthcare provider may receive seven hours of college credit at the completion of a six-week, wilderness-based program.

Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) May 7, 2007

ANASAZI Foundation, a nonprofit outdoor behavioral healthcare provider based in Mesa, Arizona, today announced it is offering college credit for students and instructors participating in its 42-day therapeutic wilderness programs. The credits are made possible through ANASAZI's partnership with Blueprint Education and Feather River College, a California institution fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

"We're excited to make these credits available to our youth and young adult students," said ANASAZI Foundation president Mike Merchant. "College accreditation for our ANASAZI Way curriculum has been a dream for quite some time, and we're grateful to Blueprint and Feather River College for helping to make this a reality."

Those electing to participate in ANASAZI's college program may receive up to seven credits, including three credit hours for Principles of Outdoor Recreation, three for Outdoor Recreation Leadership, and a single-credit course in Intermediate Backpacking. To give students the greatest flexibility, each six-week course follows a continuous-flow schedule that allows for open enrollment and exit.

Teenage students may receive the college credits concurrently as they earn up to four high-school credits available through the program. Members of ANASAZI's direct-care staff may also receive college hours while working as program instructors.

"For many years, it has been our privilege to help young people find direction in their lives," said ANASAZI founder Ezekiel Sanchez. "It is truly a gift that they can now use their ANASAZI coursework to advance their post-high school education."
