Ascend the Five Pillars of Weight Loss with Ripwire

Ascend the Five Pillars of Weight Loss with Ripwire

Noobolics, a subsidiary company of Construct Zero, Inc., has announced the release of its patent-pending weight loss and fitness supplement called Ripwire (http://www. noobolics. com/ripwire). Ripwire is a 100% organic dietary supplement. It contains no synthetic chemicals such as the dangerous Ephedra. It contains only derivatives of some of the most powerful fat-burning, energy-enhancing, and metabolism-firing herbs and plant substances in the world.

Fontana, CA (PRWEB) January 12, 2010

Rigorous clinical studies into each and every one of the substances, and then into the Ripwire proprietary formulation itself, have demonstrated the powerful effectiveness of this safe dietary supplement. All ingredients in Ripwire are specially selected by the Noobolics lab to be the freshest, highest quality, and most potent that is available on the market today. The ingredients in Ripwire are safe with no known side effects when the supplement is used as directed.

Why was Ripwire formulated? There is a global overweight epidemic, with about 1 billion human beings packing on more weight, in the form of fat, than they should. By nature, human beings are not born to be fat, even though some people do have naturally faster metabolisms or naturally larger builds than others. Therefore, when a human being is fat, there is something wrong.

Being overweight greatly increases the risk of getting heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, liver damage (by far, far more than heavy drinking does), and even some cancers. Being overweight can also rob both physical and mental energy, including harming the libido. And, then there is the aesthetic problem--overweight people are not physically attractive (no matter what psychiatrists or self-help books try to tell). But even without this factor, just think of the harmful effects on the health and lifestyle that being overweight is having.

Yet, it goes without saying that in response to this "big fat epidemic" tens of millions of people attempt dieting as a solution. But we all know the sad truth: most diets fail most of the time for nearly everyone who tries them. And that is because dieting is far more difficult than it is ever advertised as being. There are Five Pillars of Weight Loss:

1) Stop over-eating. Many people who are overweight are just eating more than they would ever need for sufficient mental and physical energy. They eat for bad reasons, such as having the bad habit of sitting around watching a lot of TV and feeling the "need" to eat every time they do so. So one of the pillars of weight loss is a controlled appetite, and for people who are already overweight that means they, at first, must suppress their habitual cravings. Few people have the iron will necessary to do this for very long.

2) Overcoming energy shortages. One of the biggest obstacles dieters face is a loss of energy. Food is energy, pure and simple. When people put less energizing fuel into their body, they start feeling run-down. Dieters often go off their diets after a little while because they can't put up with the lack of energy.

3) Burn away the fat. There is only one way to lose weight, and that is to burn more fat calories than consumed and stored. But this is a grim obstacle for dieters to overcome, because typically their dietary efforts cause their metabolisms to slow down--not speed up. Furthermore, to address their lack of energy many turn to things like "sports drinks"--but sports drinks are loaded with sugar, and sugar is the first thing the body burns. Fat comes second. The sugar gets burned, then the crash comes, the dieter sits down to rest, and the fat does not get burned.

4) Mood elevation. Ever noticed that dieters are grouchy all the time? They are suppressing their eating desires; they are frustrated by low energy levels; and they still aren't reaching their weight loss goal because they are screwing up their metabolisms (though they probably don't know it). And what do people do to find release from grouchiness? Yes--they eat. They eat for comfort, not energy, which means they are susceptible to over-eating or eating all the wrong foods.

5) Overcoming Dieter's Fog. Dieters often find that they don't have the mental concentration, focus, or memory that they are accustomed to. Food is, once again, energy--and brain actually gets first dibs on that fuel. If people are not eating enough, their brain lacks fuel and slows down. This creates a whole new world of frustration for dieters. They often cannot stay on their diets because of this.

Ripwire was deliberately formulated to address all five of the Pillars of Weight Loss. No other known supplement has been designed this way. With its blend of specially selected ingredients including SlimalumaTM, Norsynephrine HCL, Synephrine, and extract of cocoa, among several others, Ripwire keeps people energized mentally and physically, elevates their mood as well as the metabolism, and makes appetite suppression effortless. Meanwhile, they can get their eating habits and lifestyle habits in healthy order without suffering and without feeling (and therefore becoming) defeated.

A Special Lecture by Dr Rolph Payet, Joint Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize

A Special Lecture by Dr Rolph Payet, Joint Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize

Lecture titled 'Countdown to Copenhagen: What Next for Climate Change and International Development'

London (PRWeb UK) May 25, 2009

Dr Rolph Payet, joint winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 with (former US Vice President) Al Gore, as Lead Author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, will be giving a special lecture in London on Thursday 28 May 2009, at 5pm.

The lecture on Climate Change and International Development, entitled 'Countdown to Copenhagen: What Next for Climate Change and International Development,' will be held at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. It will mark the launch of CeDEP's (Centre for Development, Environment and Policy) distance learning module entitled 'Climate Change and Development'.

An alumnus of the University of London External System, as well as special advisor on the Environment to the President of Seychelles, Dr Rolph Payet continues to work towards advancing issues on climate change and biodiversity. His work on global oceans and island policy has achieved international recognition and he has been invited personally by the UN Secretary General to address a high level panel at the UN General Assembly.

Dr Payet said: "Many people think the problem of climate change will just go away. Many consumers are now aware, but we still lack political commitment at an international level. The scientific evidence is overwhelming; we need decisive action by world leaders."

And this is what Dr Payet is working towards: "I want to bring the corporate world on board and my knowledge of economics and business will come in handy, as it helps me to relate to their way of thinking and how we can search for practical solutions to some of the emerging environmental issues."

As well as graduating from the University of London External System with a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Environmental Economics, Dr Payet also has a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Kalmar, Sweden, among many other qualifications from institutions around the world.

'Countdown to Copenhagen' is being hosted by the University of London External System, the London International Development Centre (LIDC), and the Centre for Development, Environment and Policy (CeDEP) at SOAS, University of London.

Notes for Editors
The University of London was established in 1836 and is one of the oldest, largest and most diverse universities in the United Kingdom. The University's founding principle is to provide education for all, irrespective of race, creed or political belief. In 1858, the University of London was granted its fourth Charter, which paved the way for the establishment of the University of London External System. The University of London External System is a unique global network of 45,000 students in 180 countries, on more than 100 study programmes ranging from social sciences to law to health. The External System has been instrumental in the formation of British higher education - all English and Welsh universities founded between 1849-1949 offered University of London degrees before obtaining charters to award their own. Between 1946-1970, the External System played a significant role in establishing many Commonwealth universities under a unique scheme of 'special relations'. Through the External System higher education was made available to a much wider range of social classes; it pre-empted 20th Century developments in open, flexible and distance learning by more than 100 years. Famous former students and alumni of the External System include six Nobel Prize Winners: Sir Frederick Gowland Hopkins, Ronald Coase, Wole Soyinka, Derek Walcott, Nelson Mandela and Rolph Payet. To find out more about the External System: http://www. londonexternal. ac. uk Bringing together social and natural scientists from across the University of London's six Bloomsbury Colleges, LIDC undertakes original interdisciplinary research and training to tackle complex problems in international development. Micato Safaris (www. micato. com), known for providing the utmost in luxury travel to Africa and India was honored for the philanthropic endeavors of its non-profit, AmericaShare (www. americashare. org) in the September 2010 issue of Condé Nast Traveler. Awards were given in five categories: Preservation, Environmental and/or Cultural; Wildlife Conservation; Health Initiatives; Poverty Relief; and Education Programs. Micato received the highest overall score across the five categories combined, making the Company winner among tour operators for “Doing it All”. Micato was also recognized as the winner of the Education Initiatives category for the introduction of its groundbreaking One for One program. The initiative, which was introduced in January 2010, pledges to place one child in school for every safari sold.

Dennis Pinto, Managing Director of Micato Safaris, will accept the award at the 4th Annual Condé Nast Traveler World Savers Congress at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Center on October 19, 2010. Awards will be presented in the presence of hundreds of travel industry and non-profit leaders and activists, including Condé Nast Traveler Editor-in-Chief Klara Glowczewska, who will gather to discuss what the travel industry can do to improve the environment and living conditions around the globe. Past presenters of the Condé Nast Traveler World Savers Awards have included President Bill Clinton, actor Edward Norton and musician/activist Wyclef Jean.

“We are deeply honored to receive Condé Nast Traveler’s World Savers Award,” states Dennis Pinto, Managing Director, Micato Safaris. “At Micato, we see philanthropic travel as a way that compassionate travelers can come to a greater understanding of the challenges and needs facing underserved African communities -- and get involved and help in a meaningful way. Our particular mission is the education of Africa’s vulnerable and orphaned children, but the overarching experience for our travelers is much larger than that: it’s a true and sensitive experience encompassing myriad spheres of African life from women’s empowerment issues to AIDS education, slums and children’s educational issues.”

“Micato’s AmericaShare foundation has long been committed to providing education and tools for sustainable living to African women and children living with HIV/AIDs,” states Lorna Macleod, Executive Director, AmericaShare. “Our approach has always been to dig deep. That is, we do not simply write a check and leave, but rather, we work side-by-side with the individuals who can ensure our projects’ success: local Kenyan social workers, educators, physicians, building contractors and others in order to create a better life for the residents of the Mukuru slum of Nairobi.”

St. Paul, Minn., and Largo, Fl. (PRWEB) July 27, 2008

3M and Sonitor Technologies announced today that 3M is bringing Sonitor's high-definition ultrasound-based Real Time Location System technology to its Track and Trace customer base. Sonitor's unique Real Time Location System (RTLS) technology, which is being deployed in several leading hospitals, automatically tracks, with room-level or sub-room level location accuracy, the location of mobile equipment and people in complex indoor environments, such as hospitals. "3M Track and Trace Solutions is committed to uncovering customer needs," said Erin Binder, 3M Track and Trace Solutions. "Teaming with Sonitor Technologies expands our family of product offerings in order to provide hospitals and clinics with solutions that streamline their operations."

"We are delighted to establish this collaboration with 3M, a worldwide leader in technology innovation," said Terje "Terry" Aasen, CEO of Sonitor Technologies, Inc. "Sonitor's teaming with 3M's Track and Trace Solutions will allow us to broaden our market penetration by incorporating our high-definition ultrasound Indoor Positioning System (IPS) technology into 3M's established solutions for healthcare facilities and other industries worldwide."

About Sonitor Technologies, Inc.
Sonitor Technologies is a leading provider of Real Time Location System (RTLS) solutions. The proprietary Sonitor RTLS/IPS technology is particularly suitable for indoors deployments as ultrasound signals do not penetrate walls, ceilings or floors, which helps ensure 100% room-level or sub-room level location accuracy. Sonitor's ultrasound technology also ensure that detectors interpret tag signals without any risk of interference from environmental noise or electromagnetic signals, nor does the ultrasound signals interfere with sensitive instruments. The Sonitor RTLS uses tags that are attached to mobile objects to be tracked or positioned, such as people or equipment. Phillies, Rays Swing for the Fence with HydroWorx Aquatic Therapy Pools

Phillies, Rays Swing for the Fence with HydroWorx Aquatic Therapy Pools

HydroWorx aquatic therapy pools are featured in the clubhouses of both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays. Rivals in 2008's Major League Baseball's World Series, these elite teams are allies in terms of their hydrotherapy technology choice for sports physical rehabilitation and keeping athletes healthy and fit. HydroWorx pools feature underwater treadmills.

Middletown, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) October 26, 2008

HydroWorx International, Inc. (http://hydroworx. com/), the world leader in aquatic therapy (http://hydroworx. com/) and conditioning pools (http://hydroworx. com/contact-us. aspx), is especially excited about the 2008 Major League Baseball World Series. The company from Middletown, PA is rooting for every player in both dugouts this year since the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays are both HydroWorx customers.

Injury is inevitable in professional baseball today. The regular season schedule is a marathon in Major League Baseball, consisting of 162 grueling games. Athletic trainers and team doctors are constantly searching for methods to keep their athletes healthiest; teams able to keep their best players on the field are invariably the most successful teams. Aquatic therapy has proven to be among the most effective means of keeping athletes in top physical condition and HydroWorx sets the benchmark for quality in hydrotherapy (http://hydroworx. com/) sports rehabilitation (http://hydroworx. com/contact-us. aspx) and training.

HydroWorx co-founder and president, Anson Flake proclaimed, "HydroWorx is honored to be a part of the aquatic therapy success this outstanding Phillies ball club has enjoyed. The team utilizes a HydroWorx 2000 Series (http://hydroworx. com/pools-for-pros/h2000.aspx) underwater treadmill pool (http://hydroworx. com/pools-for-pros/index. aspx) and a ThermalPlunge pool for rehab and conditioning in the clubhouse facility at state-of-the-art Citizens Bank Park."

The 43,500 seat park is a fan favorite with fun features concessions, real grass, angled seating, rooftop bleachers, and a modern design that hitters thrive in. Philadelphia faithful are thrilled that players like Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, and Cole Hamels can rebound from the daily grind on the diamond using HydroWorx aquatic therapy technology. 45-year-old veteran pitcher Jamie Moyer continues to inspire the home crowd as he has for decades. His secret to longevity in the major leagues is staying active, even on the nights he's not pitching. He arrives at the ballpark six hours before games to get a great cardiovascular workout in the HydroWorx pool. The water supports a portion of his bodyweight as he exercises and rehabilitates. A study done at Texas A&M University proved that participants who ran in a HydroWorx pool improved their overall health and fitness without the joint trauma and wear-and-tear that one normally experiences working out on land.

Philadelphia's players rehabilitate and exercise HydroWorx-style year round. Flake was quick to point out, "We're humbled that the Phillies also included a HydroWorx 500 Series underwater treadmill at their Spring Training facility in Clearwater, FL".

Speaking of successful Spring Training, the Tampa Bay Rays have decided to include a HydroWorx 1100 Series underwater treadmill pool as well as HydroWorx ThermalPlunge and PolarPlunge pools in their new renovation of the clubhouse at the Port Charlotte Sports Park Complex, site of the Rays' upcoming 2009 Spring Training. The Stadium will be completely renovated to be on par with the best facilities in the Grapefruit League. A cutting-edge 40,000 square foot building will hold the Rays administrative offices. Commodious major and minor league clubhouses will brim with stars like Carlos Peña, Evan Longoria, Akinori Iwamura, and James Shields.

With World Series powerhouses in his corner, Flake maintained "It is fulfilling to realize that we're helping the greatest baseball players in the world maximize their potential by staying healthy with aquatic therapy. We're blessed that elite sports professionals recognize the benefits of running underwater. These athletes are warriors out there, and any help we can provide by taking the stress off their bodies is very rewarding for us as a company". That said, Flake refused to take sides in this year's October Classic: "I'm a lifelong fan of any organization that invites HydroWorx to be a part of their team".

About The Okoye Foundation

Education. Ideas. Sports. The primary mission of the Christian Okoye Foundation is to capture the passion children have for sports, and direct that energy to enhance their educational and personal goals. The Foundation draws at-risk and underprivileged youth by hosting free athletic clinics, where well-known professional athletes coach the kids. Once at the Foundation’s events, the kids are given unparalleled training in sports and, importantly, are encouraged to develop business and entrepreneurial skills by the Foundation’s corporate sponsors. The Foundation’s decision to use athletics as a vehicle for exposing the kids to the business world gave rise to the Foundation’s motto, “Education, Ideas and Sports.”

Through clinics and mentorship, the Foundation hopes to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in each child. In addition, the Foundation provides its kids with computer access, and plans to develop “Tech Centers” to ensure the kids are exposed to technology in a meaningful and substantial way. In the past few years, the Foundation provided several of its kids with their first “hands-on” exposure to computers. With the help of local businesses that set up booths during our events, the children are encouraged to explore their interests in any area of business or learning. The Foundation then works with the corporate sponsors to provide support to the kids throughout the year in their respective areas of interest.

After Overcoming A Disadvantaged Past, She Brings Her Blueprint for Success to New York City Seminars and Workshops

After Overcoming A Disadvantaged Past, She Brings Her Blueprint for Success to New York City Seminars and Workshops

Described as a cross between Dr. Phil and Judge Judy, this tour-de-force lawyer/therapist teaches others how to overcome adversity and find happiness.

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 8, 2006

One student likened her to a “cross between Dr. Phil and Judge Judy.” A lawyer who’s also a therapist? A therapist who just happens to be a lawyer? Yes. She is a busy attorney and a former therapist who now brings her blueprint for success to others in a series of New York City seminars and workshops. In the style of those she is compared to, she is a tour-de-force who shoots straight from the hip and tells others what they don't always want to hear.

But the comparisons end there because her story is not one that you hear every day. It’s a story of overcoming a disadvantaged past, leaving abusive and dangerous people and setting off on her own course to chart her own destiny and create a life that most people only dream about.

Susan Elliott began life as a foster child in the Bronx. She thought of herself as a "castoff" and later as a doormat for abusive people. Struggling with a poor self-image and lack of role models, she found herself in a series of increasingly destructive and dangerous situations. As she entered her late 20s, she realized she needed to end a bad relationship and move forward with her life. As a mother of three small children, putting a good life together for her kids became her mission. She threw herself into finding people to talk to, books to read, courses to take and began a long and difficult climb to a new and better life.

Through hard work, perseverance and determination, she pulled herself out of chaos and misery eventually becoming a therapist, a motivational speaker, a writer and an attorney. She is happily married, has great relationships with her children and she holds a B. A. from Mount Holyoke College where she graduated with High Honors, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa; an M. Ed. from Cambridge College; and a J. D. from the University of California at Berkeley.

Now she teaches others how to live their dreams by bringing her program for success to a series of workshops and seminars entitled “How to Get Past Your Past.”

Even though her law practice demands 60-70 hour work weeks, she still finds time to teach and work with others. Many of her colleagues ask why a busy, successful lawyer spends her time teaching these workshops. She smiles at the question, "I tell them that I love my law practice but I can't pretend my old life didn't exist. I give back because people were there for me when I needed help. I feel I have to be there for others. That is how you show gratitude for what you were given."

Most of her students are at crossroads in their lives, ending relationships or changing careers. Elliott says, “Students tell me that my seminars help them decide what to do and how to do it. That feedback keeps me going through exhausting days and nights.” The feedback is 100% positive and students tell her she’s changed their lives. “They do the work,” she says modestly, “I only give them a blueprint. The rest is up to them.” Still, students find her a mesmerizing speaker and teacher. One student says, “I’ve heard most of this before but what Susan has is credibility. She’s sincere and dynamic, and she knows her stuff. I know she changed her life, and she gives me so much hope that I can change mine.”

She has just finished teaching classes for the Learning Annex and is teaching on February 25th and March 25th in New York City. She will also put her seminars on CDs and DVDs for national distribution. In addition, Elliott is writing a self-help book, "How to Get Past Your Past: the systematic, smart way to health, wealth and happiness" as well as a memoir that details her early struggle and amazing triumph.

Sarasota Ready for Brisk Season based on Positive BP Gulf Oil Spill and Interest Rate News

Sarasota Ready for Brisk Season based on Positive BP Gulf Oil Spill and Interest Rate News

While interest rates remain at historically low levels, and the BP oil spill has been contained, Sarasota is pushing closer towards a rapid seasonal rush on Sarasota real estate.

Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) August 19, 2010

The news for Sarasota keeps getting better and better. The popular city on the Gulf of Mexico has always enjoyed a reputation as an exciting cultural, artistic and business haven, situated on one of the world's top beaches and most beautiful waterfronts.

Although originally hard hit by the downturn, Sarasota (http://seesarasotalive. com) is pushing closer and closer toward a rapid seasonal rush on property. Sales continued to climb in June and July and all indicators point to a continued stabilization of the Sarasota real estate market. Well priced properties are moving off the market quickly, generating bidding wars not seen for several years.

This summer, the question of the effects of the BP oil spill seemed to put the brakes on the momentum. But now that the BP oil spill is contained, the expert consensus is that the famous white sands of Siesta Key (http://seesarasotalive. com/siestakey. php) will remain pristine and oil-free. In fact, Sarasota residents have reported one of the best summers ever, with crystal clear water and mild temperatures. With the fate of the majority of other Gulf shore beaches uncertain, Sarasota's desirability has increased tremendously.

Prices along this world-famous stretch of beach are at remarkable levels, prompting the International Property Journal to report that Sarasota is the best real estate value in the Western World (IPJ, July 2010). The national and international communities are taking notice, and it is expected to spur on sales as season rapidly approaches. Sarasota real estate (http://truesarasota. com), always a popular investment choice, is currently the darling of much of the world.

Interest rates remain at historically low levels, making the financing side of the equation as desirable as the properties themselves.

Clean beaches, low interest rates, low prices and international acclaim all point to a robust sales season for Sarasota real estate (http://truesarasota. com), and the city is well positioned to see a healthy recovery.

GetEducated. com Awards Distance Education Scholarship to Criminal Justice Student - University of Wisconsin

GetEducated. com, LLC, http://www. geteducated. com, America's first online degree clearinghouse, continues to ease the financial burden of attending college online by awarding distance education scholarships to adult learners. Glenn Amundson, a social worker at the State of Wisconsin's Mendota Mental Health Institute, was selected by GetEducated. com's editors and the University of Wisconsin Platteville's (UWP) Distance Learning Scholarship Committee as the recipient of a $1,000 Excellence in Online Learning Scholarship. Glenn, a non-traditional adult learner, who's 57 years old and maintains a 4.0 GPA, is currently enrolled in the online Master of Science in Criminal Justice degree program through the University of Wisconsin Platteville. Online students seeking distance learning scholarships can apply online with GetEducated. com anytime before October.

Essex Junction, VT (PRWEB) April 30, 2008

GetEducated. com, LLC, http://www. geteducated. com (http://www. geteducated. com), America's first online degree clearinghouse, continues to ease the financial burden of attending college online by awarding distance education scholarships to adult learners. Glenn, a non-traditional adult learner, who's 57 years old and maintains a 4.0 GPA, was nominated based upon his academic achievements. Glenn is currently enrolled full-time in the online Master of Science in Criminal Justice degree program available through the University of Wisconsin Platteville, http://www. uwplatt. edu/disted/ (http://www. uwplatt. edu/disted/)

"Glenn's scholarship application immediately surfaced to the top," says Sara Davis, Outreach Specialist and Scholarship Coordinator, at UWP. "Along with working full-time and going to school, Glenn is very active in the community and carries his dedication through to his family life." Attending college online has allowed Glenn to stay connected to his family and his career while studying toward his graduate degree.

"The assignments are challenging and the teachers are easily accessible," says Amundson, of the Platteville distance degree program. Glenn, who is employed as a Social Worker by the State of Wisconsin, first enrolled in the graduate distance degree program in January 2007. "With the Criminal Justice major, I would like to work in the victim services field, helping inmates or patients return to the community."

At age 57, Glenn sees the distance master's degree as important to his career and personal development in several ways. "I would like to think I can still learn, and that I still have something to offer. I would like my granddaughter to see me graduate from UW-Platteville. I hope that I can watch her graduate from college someday, hopefully UW-Platteville."

"GetEducated was founded in 1989 to help adult learners get educated about quality distance learning," says founder, Vicky Phillips. "As a part of our social mission we earmark a percentage of our profits to fund a college scholarship program for adult learners involved in distance education. We are pleased to make this award to Glenn, who in many ways represents a model distance learning student."

Online degree seekers tend to be older, with an average age of 38. Most hold down full time jobs and assume responsibility for keeping their families running at the same time they study online to earn their degrees. "A decade ago a college student in his or her fifties was a novelty. Not anymore," remarks Phillips. "Distance learning increasingly attracts older students who crave access to higher education and who have no desire for the social trappings of college that appeal to adolescent college students."

"The University of Wisconsin Platteville's distance learning program has consistently impressed GetEducated. com's national review team as a quality institution that offers students nationwide the chance to get educated and move ahead in their lives," comments Phillips. "We are proud to partner with them in awarding this scholarship for online education."

The University of Wisconsin Platteville has received numerous Best Buy ratings and rankings from GetEducated. com for their online bachelor degree programs in business administration as well as their distance master degrees in criminal justice and engineering. The UWP criminal justice masters degree program Glenn is attending is profiled inside GetEducated. com's Best Distance Learning Graduate Schools: Criminal Justice, Law & Legal Studies, a 100% free college guidebook downloadable at: http://www. geteducated. com/guidebooks/bdlgs_cj. asp (http://www. geteducated. com/guidebooks/bdlgs_cj. asp)

Adult and non-traditional learners wishing to compete for online learning college scholarships, good for use at any accredited distance learning program headquartered in the USA, can register anytime between now and October 2008 at GetEducated's online degree scholarship page: http://www. geteducated. com/services/scholarships. asp (http://www. geteducated. com/services/scholarships. asp)

Seven Tips for Creating a Healthier Home in 2011

Seven Tips for Creating a Healthier Home in 2011

In 2011, many Americans will resolve to lead healthier lifestyles by embarking on a variety of healthy living strategies. In addition to exercise, eating right, and getting enough sleep, consumers should note that a healthy home environment often lays the groundwork for a healthier lifestyle. To help consumers achieve their lifestyle goals in 2011, Sylvane, an online retailer of high-quality air treatment solutions since 2000, offers these seven tips for creating a healthier home using air treatment for the New Year.

Roswell, GA (PRWEB) January 5, 2011 -

By now, the champagne glasses have likely been washed, the confetti has been swept away, and the black eyed peas have long been eaten. As Americans usher in the first week of 2011, they also embark on new journeys toward fulfilling their New Year's resolutions. For many, 2011 resolutions involve a commitment to leading a healthier lifestyle. Sylvane, an online supplier of air treatment solutions that promote healthier indoor air, reminds consumers that a healthy lifestyle often begins by creating a healthier indoor environment.

"Along with the tried-and-true strategies of regular exercise, eating right, and getting ample sleep, a healthy home made possible by better indoor air quality will contribute greatly to a healthy lifestyle," says Steven Hong, president of Sylvane, which has been offering effective and reliable solutions for air treatment at affordable prices for more than 10 years. To help consumers achieve their healthy living goals in 2011, Hong offers these seven tips for creating a healthier home environment through air treatment.

1. Boost your indoor air quality with an air purifier.

Air purifiers help filter out harmful allergens, particles, chemicals, and gases that may trigger allergy and asthma symptoms and contribute to other respiratory conditions. HEPA air purifiers such as the top consumer-rated Whirlpool Whispure 450 Air Purifier, which are equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Air filters, are best for removing particle pollutants. Air cleaners equipped with carbon filters help remove odors, airborne chemicals, and gas fumes, and some models -- like the Oransi v-hepa Plus Air Purifier -- even feature ultraviolet light protection to kill airborne germs and bacteria.

2. When temperatures dip, restore your indoor humidity with a humidifier.

Chilly winter temperatures can lead to a drastic dip in your indoor humidity. Along with causing uncomfortable static electricity and potential damage to your home's interior, low humidity can aggravate asthma symptoms, irritate sinuses, and spawn skin conditions. Restore your indoor humidity to a healthier level -- the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends a humidity level of between 40 and 50 percent -- by using a single-room or whole house humidifier. Models such as the Sunpentown SU-4010 Ultrasonic Humidifier work best to humidify single rooms while humidifiers like the Honeywell HE260 Whole House Humidifier integrate with a forced-air furnace to deliver humidified air and heat at the same time.

3. Stay warm, cozy, and safe with a portable space heater.

Heating your space with a space heater is often safer than heating it with a traditional wood-burning or gas fireplace. Gas and wood-burning fireplaces often release particle pollutants and, sometimes, carcinogens into the air that can find their way into your lungs. Energy-efficient space heaters and electric fireplaces eliminate this safety hazard while keeping you warm, cozy, and within your heating budget. The popular Vornado space heaters produce comfortable whole room heat while conserving energy and helping you remain within your heating budget.

4. Vacuum up dust, dirt, and other particles with a HEPA vacuum cleaner.

Vacuum cleaners equipped with HEPA exhaust filters perform double-duty in your environment by suctioning up dirt and dust as well as filtering microscopic allergens from air before it is exhausted back into your space. Vacuum cleaners such as the award-winning Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum and the Eureka Comfort Clean Oh! Vacuum Cleaner can help keep your home dirt-, dust-, and allergen-free.

5. Clean your home safely and naturally with a vapor steam cleaner.

Steam cleaners use only water and heat to produce a sanitizing dry vapor steam that cleans soiled surfaces, removes dirt, and kills germs in one swipe. Unlike household chemical cleaners, vapor steam cleaners leave no sticky or smelly residue behind nor do they add toxic chemical vapors to your indoor environment. Using a steam-cleaning system such as a Ladybug steam cleaner or the Reliable Enviromate Tandem EV1 Steam Cleaner helps you safely sanitize and deodorize surfaces while protecting your indoor air quality.

6. Monitor your home for radon using a radon detector.

January is National Radon Action Month. Radon, an odorless, colorless, and tasteless radioactive gas, can accumulate in dangerous levels inside homes overtime as it rises from ground soil and seeps in through cracks in walls, floors, and your home's foundation. If gone undetected and left untreated, radon can cause radon poisoning, the second leading cause of lung cancer in America after cigarette smoking. To protect yourself, your family, and your home from this silent killer, invest in a radon detector such as the Safety Siren Pro Series 3 Radon Gas Detector. This detector continuously monitors your indoor radon level and alerts you if it becomes too high, so that you can begin remediation.

7. Test your air for unhealthy allergen accumulations with an allergy testing kit.

When using the strategies listed above, it's also a good idea to continually test and monitor your environment for unhealthy allergen accumulations. Using an allergy testing kit can help you measure the health of your indoor environment and know when to take action against unhealthy air. Testing kits are available for measuring accumulations of common allergens, mold, dust mites, organic vapors, and more. Testing is a simple, do-it-yourself task that can help you proactively maintain the health of your home.

Using Hong's tips, consumers will be on their way to creating and maintaining a healthier home environment and leading healthier lives in 2011 and beyond. Visit the Sylvane online Learning Center to learn more ways to create a healthier indoor environment.

Abuse Victims Misdiagnosed, New Author Says

Abuse Victims Misdiagnosed, New Author Says

A new author asserts that many psychiatric patients, both in-patient and out-patient, report childhood histories of physical or sexual abuse or both. But they do not know what their real problem is because they have been misdiagnosed.

Sumter, SC (PRWEB) November 17, 2006

A new author asserts that many psychiatric patients, both in-patient and out-patient, report childhood histories of physical or sexual abuse or both. But they do not know what their real problem is because they have been misdiagnosed.

Worse, says Dr. Heyward Ewart, they can receive the highly insulting diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.

Psychologists and psychiatrists know what to expect in the way of symptoms with war veterans: PTSD. It is known fact that the experiences of war can produce in even the strongest individual the constellation of symptoms that therapists should recognize as trauma. But for some reason, he says, we have only begun to make this same connection with people whose very lives have been a "war."

One woman, who spent nearly 20 years in therapy, first with an educational counselor, then three psychiatrists, plus a family therapist, found herself with suicidal feelings right up to the time she entered a therapy group for domestic abuse. One psychiatrist, an analyst, spent two years asking her, "What do you think?" Another psychiatrist gave her open prescriptions for highly addictive drugs, and the third psychiatrist wanted to use electroconvulsive therapy, probably the worst possible treatment for trauma survivors. The family therapist ordered her to draw a family geneology chart.

None of the above professionals seemed determined to find the cause of her suffering; they just had their favorite ways of treating symptoms, Ewart says. Her real problem had been nightly incest at the hands of her biological father, the rejection by her mother as a result, and constant debasing comments by both parents and both sisters all of her life. Not even her head-banging, a dead giveaway for sexual abuse, was noticed.

Another woman was in treatment for thirty years for depression and a "borderline personality disorder," ten of these years with the same psychiatrist. When the decade had

Passed, he remarked, "I really don't think I can help you." Never was her sadistically violent tormentor, her husband, ever seen or even asked about. She in no way had a borderline personality disorder, but she was indeed suffering from PTSD as a result of life-long abuse.

None of her therapists had been interested in causality. A disinterest in root cause is, in Ewart's opinion, is the greatest weakness in the mental-health professions. We have clung so closely to the medical model that emotional disturbances of most any kind have historically been seen as free-standing, as though they had arisen from an infection, from a vacuum, or from nowhere. How this mentality has survived is a mystery, when in any other science the principle of cause and effect rules.

Put another way, for every action there is a reaction. Molest, torture, humiliate, or neglect a child severely enough, and PTSD or similar symptoms will be the reaction. For this reason, the treatment of domestic abuse is the treatment of child abuse, and both are the treatment of trauma.

These and other issues about abuse are graphically presented in the new book, THE LIES THAT BIND:The Permanence of Child Abuse.
