Now, commercial DC ratepayers again have the opportunity to participate in the latest round of DC MAP and save a significant amount of money.

The District has contracted Co-exprise, Inc., which also supported previous DC MAP initiatives, to provide energy procurement services, qualify electricity suppliers, and conduct on-line, reverse energy auctions. An online reverse auction is a real-time bidding process that allows energy suppliers to see their competitor's bids but not their names. Based on this real-time market feedback, the energy suppliers continue lowering bid prices until best market price is achieved.

"Simply put, there is no downside to this program," said George Hawkins, DDOE Director. "The District Government and local businesses can lower their operating costs simply by opting in."

"Co-exprise will reach out to multiple electricity suppliers and only the most competitive and qualified suppliers will participate on bid day," said Co-exprise Chief Executive Officer William Blair. "The result will be best market price and terms for the commercial interests involved."

DDOE will reach out to past DC MAP participants as well as invite new businesses to join the aggregation program such as universities and hospitals. In the class, they will learn the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of all of these disorders. They will also learn the legal aspects of dealing with dangerously sleepy patients.

There are six basic strategies that individuals and businesses use to effectively reduce health insurance costs.

Individual consumers and employers alike struggle to maintain affordable health insurance. Price increases of more than 10% per year for more than two decades lead many buyers to wonder how high health care prices can go and when this cycle of hyperinflation will end. In the past, when prices increased by unacceptable amounts, health plan members simply switched to a less expensive competitor. Now there are fewer reputable health insurance companies in business than in the past, so there is less price competition in the health insurance market and fewer choices available to consumers.

There are six primary strategies that businesses and healthy individual shoppers1 use to cut health insurance costs:

1. Buy shorter term coverage2. A plan that lasts only 1 year is 35% less expensive than a permanent plan, and 97% of purchasers of health insurance change plans voluntarily in less than a year anyway. Taking a plan with a duration of six months cuts the cost another 25%.

2. Shop online. Web sites like MedSave. com make it easy to compare prices of various plans side-by-side. Most plans allow for immediate online enrollment, saving time and eliminating the need for follow-up appointment with an enrollment representative.

3. Use PPO Discounts - PPO discount plans are now so affordable (some are even free or built-in to other benefit plans) that it simply does not make sense to pay full cash price for out-of-pocket medical, dental or prescription costs that are not covered by health insurance. 6. Buy less coverage. When the price for traditional coverage simply becomes too much to handle, some are forced to buy less than full coverage. There are two ways to do this: 1) with any high deductible insurance, or 2) with a limited benefit plan. It is generally not possible for a person with a significant pre-exiting conditions to find low cost health insurance.

2 - Residents of New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont will find it difficult or impossible to find low cost health insurance due to restrictions on minimum health insurance requirements under state law. In these states short term medical insurance is not available and the ability to utilize the other strategies may also be limited.

Focusing on flexibility through 15 Stage One meaningful use criteria and a subset of criteria eligible professionals can choose to add through 2012, the final rule also allows eligible professionals seeking EHR software adoption incentive funds in the Medicare or Medicaid pathways an allowable reporting period of just 90 days within their first stimulus calendar year in which to capture maximum funds.

Since the beginning of 2010, HHS has also overseen the establishment of EHR software certification programs now underway as of July 1, to further meaningful use standardization toward incentive capture (up to $44,000 per provider in the Medicare pathway and $63,750 under Medicaid) and strengthened provisions for the privacy and security of digital patient records.

"Electronic health records are the foundation of a high-performing healthcare system,” HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius noted during the release of the rulings. "If you want to improve the quality of care, you need to be able to accurately measure it. If you want to promote better coordination between doctors, you need to be able to quickly move health information wherever it's needed. If you want to empower consumers to charge of their healthcare, they need to be able to access their health information without calling up five different doctor's office … Our goal has never been technology for the sake of technology.”

Today the preliminary findings of the biggest independent cosmetic surgery report ever undertaken can reveal that despite popular belief, it's Britain's men that choose to go under the knife through vanity, compared to women who are motivated by low self-esteem. However, a massive 46% of men are so confident and self-assured with their appearance, that they would change nothing.

The in-depth poll of 2000 men and women nationwide, was undertaken by respected independent research agency Gfk Nop on behalf of the UK's leading cosmetic surgery provider, Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, to gain insight into people's attitudes towards their bodies, and attitudes to both surgical and non-surgical treatments.

The results show that 80 % of people surveyed agreed that cosmetic surgeries/ procedures are now more socially acceptable.

When asked what motivates you into having a cosmetic procedure, one third of men chose vanity, compared to one third of women who wanted to boost their confidence. However, more worryingly, 14% of men and women took the drastic measure because they 'hated' their appearance.

When probed further, 33% of men and 26% of women admitted that despite their dissatisfaction and lack of confidence, they had not tried dieting or exercise.  
Other findings revealed that both men and women (8%) are equally worried about losing their hair which could be a result of today's fast-paced, stressful life or possibly the sudden surge of hair extensions, which can often result in balding.
