The Health Insurance Advocate Announces Arbitron Ratings and New Radio Partner KGOZ AM

The Health Insurance Advocate Announces Arbitron Ratings and New Radio Partner KGOZ AM

New Arbitron Winter Book ratings show continued growth in HIA program audience. Consistency in building awareness with a commitment to education is key.

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) May 22, 2008

The Health Insurance Advocate, Cary Hall (http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=fCSJUu2iMyk), is pleased to announce new Arbitron Winter Book ratings for The Health Insurance Advocate radio show, heard on 710 AM KCMO in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as 1330 AM KNSS in Wichita, Kansas. The first quarter 2008 numbers show yet another significant increase for the program -- growth that is consistent with the program's 4-year history.

In Kansas City, Hall's 18 years plus audience grew by 20 percent. The 45 years plus adult audience grew by 55 percent. In Wichita, the cumulative audience grew by 51%.

Cumulus Radio representative, Jeremy Snyder, said the company could not be more pleased with Hall's results. "For four straight years, Cary Hall has grown an audience based on consistent, timely and invaluable information for consumers. These days when many households are very budget wary, The Health Insurance Advocate Show is an important guide that not only directly touches health needs and concerns it also helps families achieve a positive bottom line."

The Health Insurance Advocate will now also air on an additional Missouri radio station. KGOZ AM in Trenton, Missouri, will begin airing the program at 10 a. m. on Saturdays starting June 7. KGOZ covers more than 16 counties in northern Missouri.

"We are really excited to have this new opportunity to teach listeners," says Cary Hall (http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=fCSJUu2iMyk). "We strongly believe that people want to understand their health care coverage choices and cut through the typical government-speak that clouds the issues and manufactures crises. Health care coverage is not rocket science. It's just made to look that way by those who have political agendas," says Hall.

Hall has been a consistent opponent of national health care (http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=fCSJUu2iMyk), specifically the plans proposed by the Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama presidential campaigns.

"Most of us are tired of being told national health care is a solution to a so-called health care crisis that doesn't exist. Enormously inflated numbers like 47 million uninsured are nothing less than scare tactic lies to confuse voters."

Cary has focused his company to be a consumer advocate organization. Sac-Osage Hospital Gets Connected with RADWEBÂ&#174

Sac-Osage Hospital Gets Connected with RADWEB®

A Missouri hospital improves service & creates a competitive advantage.

Brentwood, TN (PRWEB) December 26, 2003

Hospitals in rural locations find it difficult to afford to recruit and retain full-time radiologists. This typically means referring physicians and their patients are left waiting for days to receive a report. To get faster results, referring doctors will often send their patients elsewhere. Losing patients, means lost revenues. Sac-Osage Hospital was living this scenario.

EVOLVED, the first Managed Services provider in the medical imaging industry was chosen by Sac-Osage Hospital of Osceola, Missouri, to implement RadWeb, a web-based radiology information and image management system for the entire hospital - and beyond.

With RadWeb, a radiologist in a remote location can view images and create a report within hours, instead of days. Referring physicians are now able to review reports and images in their office, via the Internet. “Faster turn-around time lets doctors treat their patients without delays. This project was all about improving patient care and enhancing service to the physicians within our community.” Says John Moran, CEO of Sac-Osage Hospital. “We are surrounded by larger healthcare facilities, the Managed Services delivered by EVOLVED are cost effective, differentiates our hospital from the competition, and enables our neighbors to stay closer to home for their healthcare needs.”

"Justifying digital imaging projects through cost reductions alone doesn’t work. Most community hospitals do not have the resources to fully deploy all of the technologies that make RIS and PACS integrated and effective; it is very complex.” Says Jon Lehman, President & CEO of EVOLVED. “We deliver a Managed Services solution. We simplify the process. Our customers are able to maximize their return of investment for their digital project. We are very pleased to welcome Sac-Osage Hospital as a new business partner.”

About Sac-Osage Hospital: (www. sac-osagehospital. com)

As a 47-bed acute care facility, Sac-Osage Hospital is a valuable community resource benefiting area residents, as well as those individuals passing though area who are in need of medical care. New Controlled-Release Fertilizer for Landscape and Lawn Care Professionals Feeds Turf All Season Long with Just One Application

New Controlled-Release Fertilizer for Landscape and Lawn Care Professionals Feeds Turf All Season Long with Just One Application

Agrium Advanced Technologies Introduces Spread it & Forget it Driven by DURATION CR®

Loveland, Colo. (Vocus) February 4, 2010

Agrium Advanced Technologies announces Spread it & Forget it, a new controlled-release fertilizer that feeds lawns and professional turf for six months or more with just one application. Spread it & Forget it (http://www. spreaditandforgetit. com/) enables turf professionals to spread fertilizer once, instead of multiple times, and keeps turf lush, green and healthy for a full growing season.

“Turf professionals face not only agronomic challenges, but significant economic challenges. Spread it & Forget it was created specifically to address these concerns,” said Bryan Gooch, product marketing manager, Agrium Advanced Technologies. “With just a single application, Spread it & Forget it delivers green, healthy turf for an entire growing season, so turf professionals save time and money—they can do more with less.”

Spread it & Forget it products are driven by DURATION CR® (http://www. spreaditandforgetit. com/howitworks. html) controlled-release fertilizer technology to ensure steady nutrient release. The advanced-generation polymer coatings gradually release nutrients as plants need them, which protects the environment against nitrogen loss and enables up to 40 percent less total nitrogen to be applied per year.

Each Spread it & Forget it blend is formulated with 90 percent or more of its nitrogen from DURATION CR and up to 10 percent of a quickly available nitrogen source for immediate greening. Products will be available with and without pre-emergent herbicides for added convenience and efficiency.

In 2009, more than 100 turf professionals from 13 states nationwide tried Spread it & Forget it in real-world situations in both Northern and Southern climates, and on all major turf types. Trial sites included commercial and residential sites, such as parks, schools and sports turf. The test group rated it strongly for promoting healthy, green turf while saving on labor and fuel costs associated with multiple trips. In addition, 95 percent of them said they would recommend Spread it & Forget it to a colleague.

“Turf professionals who use Spread it & Forget it save on labor, use less nitrogen, have fewer clippings, but most of all they have more satisfied customers,” added Gooch. “On average, they can save $35 per year on a typical 10,000 square foot lawn by using a single, long-lasting fertilizer application of Spread it & Forget it.”

A single, long-lasting application of Spread it & Forget it is also more environmentally friendly. By releasing nutrients steadily over time, Spread it & Forget it minimizes potential nutrient losses to the environment, atmosphere and groundwater. Because the nutrient release is activated by temperature, it isn’t affected by rainfall or irrigation so turf professionals avoid growth flushes and nitrogen runoff from excessive moisture.

Lawn Care Professionals Support Spread it & Forget it
“With one application, Spread it & Forget it provided sustained and consistent green color without surge growth for the entire season,” said Robert Windish, president, Fairway Green Inc. “Our customers were so happy with the color that we didn't receive callbacks. That eliminated repeat visits and saved us money.” “With just one application in the spring, the turf still looks beautiful after all these months,” said Don McCauley, owner, Don McCauley Landscape Design. “Doing one application of Spread it & Forget it would help me save 50 percent to 60 percent on labor, fuel, products and everything. Plus, one application is better for the environment –there is less leaching into the soil with this product.” “Spread it & Forget it is a one-time deal that lasts. The turf stays green longer. For athletic fields that aren’t in season until spring, you can put nutrients on prior to the playing season and not have to worry about it,” said Jason Jarvis, general manager, Organics Unlimited. “With Spread it & Forget it, the lawn stayed the same dark green color all season long, from beginning to end,” said Anthony Devito, owner, Anthony Devito Landscaping. “All the pellets are the same size. They are very smooth and spread easily and evenly. With a product like Spread it & Forget it where everything is even, you get better results.”

Indonesia Now First in Bird Flu Deaths

Indonesia Now First in Bird Flu Deaths

Indonesia has surpassed Vietnam as having the most bird flu deaths. The latest two children to die brings their total to 44.

Ballwin, MO (PRWEB) August 15, 2006

The United Nations World Health Organization WHO confirmed that a 17 year old girl from Jakarta province and a 6 year old boy from West Java province died of the bird flu H5N1 virus.

The two new bird flu deaths raise Indonesia's total to 44. Therefore, it has surpassed Vietnam, which held the record at 42 bird flu deaths.

Both Indonesian children died last week. The boy was in regular contact with sick and dying chickens. The girl kept pigeons in her home. The boy's family were initially told he had typhus. By the time the medical professionals figured out it could be bird flu, it was too late to save his life.

"Indonesia is allowing its children to die," says Richard Stooker, author of How to Protect Yourself and Your Family From Bird Flu. "I understand it's a poor country. But just a few years ago they were taking out full color, multi-page ads in business magazines bragging about their modern improvements. Vietnam and Cambodia are poorer than Indonesia, yet they're taking strong proactive steps to control high pathogenic avian influenza in their countries."

Vietnam has not reported any human cases of bird flu since late 2005, and almost no cases of high pathogenic avian influenza in 2006.

"Indonesia does not seem to realize they're playing with fire," says Richard Stooker, who created a start to finish proprietary 7 Perimeter Immune Defense System that explains how to defeat bird flu at every stage.

"They seem to believe that just because bird flu is not right now a big threat compared to tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanos and the many other infectious diseases that kill both chicken and people -- that it will stay that way."

"If they let the problem go on too long, bird flu could kill enough chickens to cause great hunger. And many more people especially children will die from bird flu and from nutritional deficiencies."

More information on how you can learn How to Protect Yourself and Your Family is available at the author's website and blog.

Florida Health Insurance Pro Says Crist Plan Has Merit

Florida Health Insurance Pro Says Crist Plan Has Merit

"Florida can expect changes in its insurance benefits thanks to Gov. Charlie Crist." He has a plan for the 4 million residents without health-care coverage; that according to Florida health insurance web, a free insurance consultant service. Morgan Moran, finance and insurance professional in Jacksonville reports "Crists' insurance comes with "robust" benefits for as little as $150 a month."

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) February 29, 2008

"Florida can expect changes in its insurance benefits thanks to Gov. Charlie Crist." He has a plan for the 4 million residents without health-care coverage; that according to Florida health insurance (http://www. floridahealthinsuranceweb. com) web, a free insurance consultant service. Morgan Moran, finance and insurance professional in Jacksonville reports "Crists' insurance comes with "robust" benefits for as little as $150 a month."

Florida has insurance problems, mostly due to overpriced policies, and dwindling benefits. "The Governor's goal is fix that problem and to cover every Floridian," The governor said "There may be challenges (ahead), but our goal is to aim high." Crist would like to make some major changes to benefits offered in the state, including allowing young adults to continue on parent's policies. Moran said, "Crist believes young adults should be able to stay on their parents' health insurance until age 30." Such a provision could actually help lower health premiums because it would spread the insurance risk and add enrollees.

The Crist plan for heath care, according to Moran includes lowering the overall cost of healthcare", by working with the prescription drug industry. "Everyone knows the cost of prescription drugs is out of control", and this is one area of concern that Crist plans to attack. "Crist says he will "work with Congress to make it safe and secure for residents to import drugs from Canada" the insurance consultant said.

"Crist plan for Florida is to increase health care options." "Residents need to have access to more than just emergency care" said Moran, to go along with this, "Crist also plans to make it a lot easier for new state-of-the-art health care facilities to be built in the state."

The governors: 'Cover Florida Health Access Act plan' should, according to Crist, end skyrocketing health costs, limited coverage. Unlike the plans offered by the democratic presidential candidates, Crists' plan would not require that employers offer health insurance, or that people buy the coverage. Instead, the state would negotiate with private insurers to develop health plans that would be free of state-mandated benefits, but "would include a 'robust package of preventive, primary and urgent care benefits, including hospitalization', Moran said.

"This new health insurance plan (http://www. floridahealthinsuranceweb. com), offered by Crist, would have to guarantee coverage to anyone aged 19 to 64 who can pay for it." "The governor said, 'he already has several insurers willing to bid on his program.'"

Gourmet Coffee Fundraisers Boost Profit for Schools and Churches

Gourmet Coffee Fundraisers Boost Profit for Schools and Churches

The Fundraiser Coffee Company has developed a fundrasing program that is easy to carry out and it keeps on giving all year long.

Concord, MA (PRWEB) March 13, 2006

Using gourmet coffee for schools and church fundraisers has the benefit of offering contributors a product they would buy anyway and it has potential health benefits (see http://www. thefundraiser. com/health. php (http://www. thefundraiser. com/health. php)) that other common fundraising products do not have.

The Fundraiser Coffee Company stands ready to develop a program that will suit any fundraising group with personalized private label coffee bags filled with freshly ground gourmet coffee that offers a shelf life of up to one year.

Mr. Paul Jensen is the President of The Fundraiser Coffee Company and he came upon the idea of using gourmet coffee as a fundraising product when he during a trip to Kenya in Africa was asked if he would be interested in importing Kenya AA coffee to the United States.

Mr. Jensen had his first experience with coffee when he as a child helped his mother in her corner grocery store with grinding coffee for the store's customers. The basis for The Fundraiser Coffee Company program is Kenya AA coffee. Ken Davids wrote in the Coffee Review, March 1999, "... Kenya remains the world's single most consistent source of superlative coffee. And Kenya is superlative in the particular ways American specialty professionals define as superlative: alive with the dry vibrant sensation called acidity, fruity without cloying sentiment, big and resonant."

Arabica coffee bean trees thrives exceptionally well in the climate and soils of the highlands around Mr. Kenya. The beans produce an excellent coffee with good acidity. .. In general, it is a bright coffee that illuminates the whole palate. Full of complexities from spice to wine flavors. From the taste of the coffee in your cup, to the way the Kenyans run their trade, everything about the coffee industry is of the highest standard. The country's development and research in unrivalled. The quality control executed from the highly educated farmers... is astounding.

Everything is geared towards producing the best coffee. Does it surprise that Mr. Jensen and his wife Vibeke enjoy several cups of freshly brewed Kenyan coffee every day?

For more information about the program you can reach Mr. Jensen through http://www. thefundraisercoffee. com (http://www. thefundraisercoffee. com)

Mr. Jensen has set up a joint venture with a coffee roastmaster that has 18 years experience in the business of micro roasting gourmet coffee. The coffee is roasted in small batches of 30 pounds for quality and air cooled for maximum weight.

Everything’s Coming Up Asters for Pii: Creative Projects for Aspen Valley Hospital, Union Hospital Win Awards for Second Consecutive Year

Everything’s Coming Up Asters for Pii: Creative Projects for Aspen Valley Hospital, Union Hospital Win Awards for Second Consecutive Year

Stunning photographs were just the beginning. Creative work on two print projects -- a calendar and a community newsletter -- earned honors for Progressive Impressions International (Pii) in the 17th annual Aster Awards.

Bloomington, IL (PRWEB) May 26, 2010 —

Progressive Impressions International (Pii) and two of its clients have taken honors in the 17th annual Aster Awards.

Aspen Valley Hospital (AVH), in Aspen, Colorado, received a Gold award for its 2010 community calendar, among hospitals with less than 75 beds. Designed and printed by Pii, the calendar features stunning photographs taken by members of the hospital’s medical and professional staff in the Aspen area and around the world. The images are highlighted with inspirational quotes and articles about services available at AVH.

“There’s something really sweet about doing a project just for fun and having it win an Aster Award,” said Ginny Dyche, Director of Community Relations at AVH. “It’s wonderful to have the calendar recognized by experts in the field of marketing and advertising.”

Union Hospital, in Elkton, Maryland, earned a Silver award for its Good Health community newsletter, among hospitals with 76-149 beds. Written, designed and printed by Pii since 2001, the newsletter highlights Union Hospital’s state-of-the-art technology, advanced medical services, new staff and a calendar of events. Each issue also includes timely health information, such as articles about the H1N1 (swine) flu, healthy pregnancy tips and chronic pain management techniques.

“We’re very pleased to be recognized for our work with our newsletter and our work with Pii,” said Kathryn McKinney, Director of Public Relations & Marketing at Union Hospital. “Winning an Aster Award is verification that we’re producing a high-quality product for our community.”

Wins come for second year in a row
The Aster Awards program is an elite competition recognizing excellence in medical marketing. Organized by Creative Images, Inc. (Sylva, North Carolina) and judged by independent experts in the field, the event draws the nation's most talented healthcare marketing professionals.

In last year’s competition, Pii received a Silver award for a special edition of Union Hospital’s Good Health newsletter and a Bronze award for AVH’s Health Matters newsletter.

“To win two Aster Awards for the second year in a row is a high honor, because our work competes against the best of the best,” said Ron Drenning, Pii vice president of sales and marketing. “More than anything, these distinguished awards are an acknowledgement of the great relationships Pii has with our clients. And the awards also reflect the quality at every level of our organization and our clients’ organizations: from our contacts at Aspen Valley Hospital and Union Hospital to the account management, creative and production teams at Pii.”

Pii creative teams for health care marketing, including account managers, writers, proofreaders, graphic designers and sales staff, are based in Pompano Beach, Florida.

About Pii

DiabetesCare. net Striking a Chord in the Diabetes Community

DiabetesCare. net Striking a Chord in the Diabetes Community

Website has also upgraded the search functionality in its 37,000 food item Nutrition Tracker

Mt. Laurel, NJ (Vocus) March 30, 2010

Food Sciences Corporation, which launched its new full-service diabetes website – DiabetesCare. net – on February 1, has in a short span of time struck a resounding chord in all corners of the diabetes community.

DiabetesCare. net (www. DiabetesCare. net) not only serves those seeking self-care information and solutions, but also diabetes caregivers and providers looking for a one-stop resource for their patients.

Here is just some of the feedback received so far:
"I love DiabetesCare. net…I am referring all of my patients to the website." - Natalie E. Lomazov RD, CDE, La Mesa, CA

"My business is providing home delivered medications and supplies. However, my passion is helping people live better lives. DiabetesCare. net is by far the best resource for information I have found that I can share with patients and caregivers." - Michael Glass, VP-Business Development/Partner, Senior Respiratory Solutions, Inc.

"Now I refer my diabetes support group participants to this site." - Nancy Yergin, MS, RD, LDN, Penn State Extension - Forest County

"This is a great resource for anyone that you know that may have diabetes!" - Ignite Fitness South Lake, Clermont, FL, Via Facebook, Feb. 11, 2010

In addition, DiabetesCare. net was reviewed and selected by KillerStartups. com – Feb. 12, 2010.

Unlike other diabetes websites that give their visitors occasional news about the latest trends in diabetes, some recipes and perhaps a few basics about managing their disease, DiabetesCare. net instead focuses on daily breaking news showcasing the latest trends and studies on the disease, plus offers helpful tools to engage visitors in not only managing their diabetes, but also showing them all the daily progress they are making.

DiabetesCare. net’s tools include a Nutrition Tracker, with newly refined and easier searching functionality for its large 37,000 food items database for tracking daily food intake and carbohydrates consumed; an Exercise Tracker that tracks over 80 different daily exercise activities for visitors; a Blood Glucose Tracker, and a BMI (Body Mass Index) Calculator.

And coming soon, an overall “Health Assessment” tool will be added to DiabetesCare. net’s library of tools to help its visitors work towards a healthier overall lifestyle.

Active daily with its growing audience via social marketing outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, DiabetesCare. net also has active blogs and forums to encourage dialogue amongst visitors in an effort to foster sharing, understanding and knowledge of their disease, which according to the American Diabetes Association’s 2007 Fact Sheet, afflicts 23.6 million children and adults in the United States or 7.8% of the population.

DiabetesCare. net also features diabetic recipes for its visitors -- a key component for them as they look for ways to manage their diabetes -- plus helpful short - and long-form videos with tips for people living with diabetes and much more.

Lastly, DiabetesCare. net, complete with a medical panel that regularly reviews the material on the website and suggests improvements to its tools, is free to all users and contains no commercial advertising whatsoever, which means no bias, just useful information and support.

Research And Markets - The Western European PC Market Has Continued To Go From Strength To Strength In The First Half Of 2004, Capitalizing On The Recovery Of 2003 To Record An 18.3% Shipment Growth Year On Year

Research And Markets - The Western European PC Market Has Continued To Go From Strength To Strength In The First Half Of 2004, Capitalizing On The Recovery Of 2003 To Record An 18.3% Shipment Growth Year On Year

Research and Markets (researchandmarkets. com/reports/c11048) has announced the addition of Personal Computing in Western Europe, Forecast and Analysis Update, 2004-2008 to their offering.

(PRWEB) December 17, 2004

Signalling a marked acceleration from the 6.8% growth recorded in the first half of last year; these latest figures indicate a very much-balanced return to PC growth, with both consumer and commercial PC sales recording double-digit growth year on year of 21% and 17% respectively. "On the commercial side, the corporate rebound which underwent a significant acceleration in 2Q played a big role in driving PC sales as large businesses loosened previously constrained budgets and went about renewing ageing infrastructure," said Ian Gibbs, research analyst.

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c11048 (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c11048)) has announced the addition of Personal Computing in Western Europe, Forecast and Analysis Update, 2004-2008 to their offering.

As with last year, the hotly contested SMB market continued to thrive while public sector growth also faced a positive uplift. Consumer demand was again stimulated by aggressive price declines and attractive digital bundles. Key forecast assumptions:

Regional desktop shipments will expand by 11.7% year on year in 2004, with growth well balanced between the consumer and commercial markets. The corporate rebound that experienced such an acceleration towards the end of 1H04 will continue to drive demand, with essential renewals and Windows XP upgrades acting as key stimulants. OS migration will also fuel home shipments, as will attractive digital bundles and increased multimedia functionality and storage.

Notebook shipments will increase by 29.4% year on year in 2004 ? a healthy expansion, albeit at a lower level than the mobile boom experienced in 2003. Commercial growth will again feed off burgeoning demand for mobile solutions from the SMB market, while also benefiting from the loosening in corporate budgets. Consumer demand will remain strong, with further ASP declines and price performance propositions improving.

Total PC (desktop + notebook) market growth of 17.6% year on year is therefore forecast for 2004. As the current wave of renewal cycles subsides and the market matures, annual growth rates will decrease up to 2006, with 9.9% and 5.8% growth forecast for the next two years respectively. However, market activity is set to pick up again in the long run, with 6.7% and 9.0% growth forecast for 2007 and 2008.

Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia and NewsTalk 750 WSB Team Up to Promote Prostate Proactivity

Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia and NewsTalk 750 WSB Team Up to Promote Prostate Proactivity

Metro Atlanta men will have the opportunity to receive a free prostate cancer screening and educational information on Monday 1/19 through Sunday 1/25 at select locations throughout the city. Aimed at providing Atlanta residents with information about prostate health, the Prostate Proactivity Campaign is an educational outreach effort by Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG) and NewsTalk 750 WSB.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 19, 2009

For one week in January, metro Atlanta men will have the opportunity to receive a free and potentially life-saving prostate cancer screening through the Prostate Proactivity Campaign, an educational outreach effort by Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG) and NewsTalk 750 WSB.

The Prostate Proactivity Campaign aims to provide Atlantans with information pertaining to prostate health. According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, and one in six men will be diagnosed with the disease during his lifetime. However, with early detection and proper prostate cancer treatment (http://www. prostrcision. com/) the cure rate is nearly 100 percent.

"Prostate cancer can be cured if properly treated. And the earlier the diagnosis, the better the long-term chance of cure. This is why it is worth being knowledgeable about, and tested regularly, for this disease. Keep in mind that prostate cancer is typically slow growing, so men who are diagnosed have the time to learn about the treatment methods that lead to cure," said Dr. Frank Critz, medical director and director of prostate cancer research at RCOG.

Prostate cancer is detected through a simple blood test known as a PSA test, which determines the level of prostate-specific antigen in the body. Men 50 years of age and older should be screened annually for prostate cancer. African American men and men with a family history of prostate cancer need to begin testing at 40 years of age, as they are at a higher risk of prostate cancer.

"Prostate cancer is an illness that will touch one in every six men," said Dan Kearney, vice president and general manager of NewsTalk 750 WSB. "NewsTalk 750 WSB is committed to providing strong community support, and we are happy to bring these free screenings to the Atlanta community for the third year in a row."

Prostate Proactivity (http://wsbradio. com/prostate/) kicks off on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 19) with a prostate cancer screening at South Dekalb Mall (2081 Candler Road) in Decatur. Participating sponsor McDonalds will provide breakfast for this and all other screenings. Additional dates and locations include:
Tuesday, January 20, 9:00 a. m.-5:00 p. m. - Kroger, 2655 Freedom Parkway, Cumming Wednesday, January 21, 9:00 a. m.-5:00 p. m. - Kroger, 3305 Centerville Highway, Snellville Thursday, January 22, 9:00 a. m.-5:00 p. m. - Kroger, at 3700 Salem Road, Covington Friday, January 23, 9:00 a. m.-5:00 p. m. - Kroger, 1160 Moreland Avenue, Atlanta Saturday, January 24, 9:00 a. m.-5:00 p. m. - Mall of Georgia, 3333 Buford Drive, Buford Sunday, January 25, 9:00 a. m.-5:00 p. m. - Town Center at Cobb, 400 Ernest W Barrett Parkway, Kennesaw

Representatives from RCOG will be on hand at events to provide information about prostate health (http://www. prostrcision. com/prostate-cancer/), prostate cancer treatment options and cure rates. The 'Take Control of Your Prostate' pamphlet will be available at metro Atlanta Kroger Pharmacies and RCOG clinics in January.

If you have prostate cancer questions (http://www. prostrcision. com/qa/), or to learn more about prostate cancer surgery (http://www. rcog. com/) and Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia, visit RCOG. com and ProstRcision. com or call 1-800-952-7687.

About Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia:
Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia is a Center of Excellence for prostate cancer treatment and research. Each year hundreds of men travel to receive prostate cancer treatment in Atlanta, Georgia (http://www. rcog. com/about/our-facilities. php) from RCOG. RCOG is one of the oldest prostate seed implant programs in the world. The first prostate implant for prostate cancer at RCOG was performed in 1977, and the first patient was treated with the combination therapy now called ProstRcision in 1979. Dr. Frank Critz, founder and medical director of RCOG, developed the ProstRcision procedure and has treated more than 8,000 patients with the disease in the past 25 years. RCOG is the only source for ProstRcision, in which two forms of radiation therapy are used to destroy the prostate gland. To date, nearly 12,000 men have received treatment with ProstRcision at RCOG's seven Metro Atlanta clinics. To learn more, please visit rcog. com.

UAW New Directions Movement Answers GMÂ’s Financial Woes

UAW New Directions Movement Answers GMÂ’s Financial Woes

New Directions Movement makes clear on their website, www. uawndm. org, the answer to General Motors health concessions should be NO. The answer for both UAW workers and retirees, and the auto companies is a Universal National Single-Payer Healthcare System for all U. S. citizens.

Anderson, IN (PRWEB) September 3, 2005

The New Directions Movement, a rank and file caucus within the UAW, fighting for equality and justice in the workplace, recently updated their website to include suggested platforms for UAW members and local leaders seeking alternatives to GMÂ’s proposed 20% increase in UAW member healthcare contributions. The issue of healthcare will be addressed during 2007 contract negotiations.

GM has not only suggested health cuts for active workers, but also for millions of retired UAW members.

NDM makes clear on their website, www. uawndm. org the answer to concessions should be NO. The answer for both UAW workers and retirees, and the auto companies is a Universal National Single-Payer Healthcare System for all U. S. citizens.

It is no secret that if we had a national system in the U. S. modeled after the current Canadian Healthcare System, GM, Chrysler and Ford would save millions. This is something the auto companies have themselves acknowledged as a major cost saving factor in Canada and by entering into to joint agreements with the Canadian Auto Workers union to protect and advance the Canadian Public Healthcare System.

In addition, to these standpoints, NDM has also created online message boards in which UAW members can now gather in meeting rooms and debate the healthcare issue, as well as discuss strategies for countering what NDM believes is an “attack against the working class.”

“Public Healthcare is not simply a dream, it is an American right,” stated an NDM poster on the site. “Until the thousands of ailing Americans in this country are assured proper care, we cannot assume that saying yes to concessions benefits everyone. Nor can we assume it will cure what ails GM. ”

“It is not as if ailing GM retirees have any other means, other than their GM retirement and medical benefits to survive. If active workers say yes to health concessions, we are ensuring the rapid decline and possible death of many retired UAW members, who will not be able to afford proper care. They are depending on active workers to ensure their wellbeing.”

The Fast Food & Home Delivery Outlets Market was worth an estimated £7.82bn in 2002 but growth between 2003 and 2007 looks likely to be slow

The Fast Food & Home Delivery Outlets Market was worth an estimated £7.82bn in 2002 but growth between 2003 and 2007 looks likely to be slow.

The UK market for fast food and home delivery outlets includes both branded fast food chains and independent outlets selling hot or cold eat-in food without table service, or takeaway food. The market was worth an estimated £7.82bn in 2002, with sales growth of 4.6%. Between 1998 and 2002, the market increased in value by 19.4% but sales growth in the period between 2003 and 2007 is likely to be lower than in the previous 5 years.

(PRWEB) August 29, 2003

Research and Markets have announced the addition of the "Fast Food & Home Delivery Outlets Market Report Plus 2003" report to their offering.

The UK market for fast food and home delivery outlets, as defined by this report, includes both branded fast food chains and independent outlets selling hot or cold eat-in food without table service, or takeaway food. The market was worth an estimated £7.82bn in 2002, with sales growth of 4.6% at current prices during the year. Between 1998 and 2002, the market increased in value by 19.4% at current prices, outperforming growth in the UK catering market as a whole.

The largest market sector, and one of the most buoyant, is sandwiches. Shorter lunch breaks, consumer tastes turning to light lunches and snacks, and the spread of more branded sandwich outlets across the UK have all contributed to sales growth. The second-largest sector is burgers. However, the burger market has been one of the weaker-performing sectors in 2002, with price discounting and competition from other fast food brands affecting sales. Both the pizza and chicken sectors have benefited from consumers switching from burgers. Chicken outlets continue to expand and emphasise their family-dining options, while home-delivery pizza sales, and sales from new outlets in shopping parks, leisure parks, and transport terminals, are a key element in pizza sector growth. Sales growth in the fish and chips sector has improved in 2002 when compared with 2001.

The `other' fast food and home delivery outlets sector includes a variety of outlets, such as coffee shops, Indian and Chinese outlets, sushi and noodle bars, soup bars, doughnut, muffin, and other pastry shops. Sushi and noodle bars saw healthy growth in 2002, along with coffee shops. The latter have diversified their menus and increased sales of sandwiches and light meals.

McDonald's and Burger King take the majority of sales in the burger sector, but both suffered from weaker sales in 2002 — McDonald's recorded its first loss since 1965 during the year, while Diageo sold the Burger King brand at a much lower price than originally anticipated, because of the difficult trading conditions in the market. KFC and Pizza Hut are the leading players in the chicken and pizza sectors respectively. Branding has increased in the sandwich sector, with chains such as O'Briens Irish Sandwich Bars and the US brand Subway increasing their market presence. Market leaders Pret A Manger and Greggs continue to grow.

The pace of outlet openings, particularly in the burger sector, is likely to slow in the next few years. The saturation of London by sandwich bars and coffee shops will also lead to the expansion of these catering concepts elsewhere in the UK.

Sales growth in the period between 2003 and 2007 is likely to be lower than in the previous 5 years, reflecting fewer new openings, increased competition and mature markets in some sectors.

Online Video Production Company Debuts Social Media Technology

Online Video Production Company Debuts Social Media Technology

Prizm, an online video production agency, debuts its Web 2.0 Media Site™ , Human Host™ and Electronic Video Message Social Media Press Release™ technology.

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) April 24, 2007

Prizm, an online video production agency, debuts its Web 2.0 Media Site™, Human Host™ and Electronic Video Message Social Media Press Release™ technology (www. prizmproductions. com).

The company started developing products to bypass traditional advertising outlets and communicate directly with consumers six years before the national online video trend began. Lori Baerg, president of Prizm, explained that their online video technology reflects tighter measurement systems for clients and high retention rates by the consumers who use them, driving customer loyalty. Read online video trends, market research and news: http://del. icio. us/prizm (http://del. icio. us/prizm).

The Media Sites™, supported by EVM™ Solutions, transform one-dimensional websites into multi-dimensional web experiences. The Human Host™ or virtual host conveys strategic communication, developed by Prizm, to visitors about the company and its services. "Prizm's Media Sites™ overcome traditional marketing limitations by reaching large volumes of online consumers without printing, mailing and packaging expenses," explained Baerg. "The interconnected social media technology allows companies to provide an engaging, personal forum to enhance consumers' experiences."

Prizm's press announcement is also available as an EVM Social Media Press Release™ to demonstrate the capabilities of the EVM Mail product. "EVM Mail is delivered and displayed as an e-mail message and features a Human Host, online video, social media buttons such as del. icio. us, RSS Feeds, Reddit, etc. as well as relevant articles, industry trends, photos and quotes," said Baerg. "Our hope is that the EVM Social Media Press Release will facilitate in modernizing the traditional press release as PR professionals grapple with a more efficient, effective way to communicate with reporters in the Web 2.0 world."

The EVM Social Media Release's multi-dimensional format also provides reporters with online videos that can be repurposed for news sites and accompany online stories.

PR professionals aren't the only ones interested in online video and social media. According to businessweek. com, a growing number of companies are turning to online video, and the word of mouth that accompanies it for everything from advertising to recruiting ("Business Goes Straight to Video," January 2007).

Additionally, businesses are learning that they cannot afford to ignore the 73 percent of adults who use the Internet (Pew Internet & American Life Project, April 2006), the two-thirds of consumers who research products and services online prior to making a purchase (Shop. org/ Forrester Study, June 2006) and the $200 billion in Internet purchases that are expected this year (Shop. org/Forrester Study, June 2006).

"Prizm may not be the only national online video production agency, but we know we are among the few that understands the significance of strategic communication. Online video is ineffective without a sophisticated, personalized message that appeals to and connects with an audience," said Baerg. "Prizm has combined its 20 years of video production experience with 17 years of strategic messaging to launch Media Sites for companies such as Guardian Group (www. guardianml. com), SimpleMan Products (www. simplemanproducts. com), Heartland Health (www. heartland-health. com/body. cfm? id=106 (http://www. heartland-health. com/body. cfm? id=106)), Heartland Cremation and Burial Society (www. heartlandcremation. com) and My Blue Star (www. mybluestar. org). "We are excited about the opportunities that this technology offers and look forward to feedback on these products," said Baerg.

Prizm, an online video production agency, transforms one-dimensional websites into multi-dimensional Media Sites™, creating a rich entertainment experience for consumers. The agency overcomes traditional marketing limitations by reaching large volumes of consumers online without printing, mailing and packaging expenses. Electronic Video Message (EVM) Solutions utilize a tracking and measurement component that allows companies to monitor ROI for marketing, public relations and advertising campaigns. Food Psychology Coaches Launch New Weight Loss Program for Ultimate Life Fitness Results

Food Psychology Coaches unveils a new weight loss program without dieting or physical exercise. The Inside Out Workout low-impact high-reward workout program guides subscribers using quick weekly video coaching emails. The Inside Out Workout iphone application called "Food Workout" is an interactive game used while eating; both new workout programs help with weight loss, digestion, relaxation and quality of life. http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=zJXPW7q8CA0

Phoenix, AZ. (PRWEB) April 23, 2010

Successful personal coaches Tammy Kaatz and Daryl Ott have announced the launch of their weight loss program (http://insideoutworkout. com) “Inside Out Workout,” a low-impact, high-reward fitness regime. Created to help individuals be more aware of their habits, the weight loss program teaches daily techniques to measure one’s emotional and physical well-being. The workout itself is delivered through weekly video tutorials that make it easy to practice awareness while at home or the office. In addition, a “FoodWorkOut” iPhone application provides a game that can be played while eating that teaches individuals to slow down, which increases their metabolism, so they can better enjoy the workout program (http://insideoutworkout. com).

The Inside Out Workout brings two schools of thought together in a way that focuses on how the body responds to the food that we put into it. The first, food psychology, uses techniques to understand how emotional and social environments can impact or improve both digestion and weight loss. Emotional intelligence, the second technique, focuses on understanding the self and how emotions greatly impact daily life. Together, they are meant to bring awareness to life that helps individuals maintain their personal happiness.

“Ultimately, awareness brings happiness, or at least, an understanding of what needs to change in someone’s life in order for them to be happy,” said co-founder Tammy Kaatz. “The Inside Out Workout takes what we’ve learned from a lifetime of coaching and mentoring and makes it available for everyone.”

“When you’re aware of your happiness, then you can remember what it feels like to be happy and find your way back,” co-founder Daryl Ott said. “Plus, the Inside Out Workout program requires no expensive memberships, wonder-foods or equipment; just you and your commitment to yourself.”

In addition, to the FoodWorkOut iPhone application, the Inside Out Workout weekly video subscription costs only $49.95 for a full year subscription, while the FoodWorkOut iPhone application is a one-time fee of $4.99. Both can be found at http://insideoutworkout. com (http://insideoutworkout. com).

Good Vibrations Announces New Donation Partner: Global Justice Ecology Project

Good Vibrations Announces New Donation Partner: Global Justice Ecology Project

Pioneering Adult Retailer’s Emphasizes Going Green in the Bedroom and Beyond

San Francisco (PRWEB) March 8, 2010

Good Vibrations, the legendary San Francisco-based retailer (www. goodvibes. com), has announced its partnership with the Global Justice Ecology Project as part of their corporate giving initiative, GiVe.

This spring, Good Vibrations’ customers can show their support for “going green” by making a financial gift to the Global Justice Ecology Project (www. globaljusticeecology. org) at the time of their Good Vibrations purchase. The Global Justice Ecology Project raises awareness about the dangers of global warming and deforestation around the world through direct action, and advocates for climate justice, protection of native forests, and the rights of the indigenous peoples of the South American forested communities. Donations are accepted at all Good Vibrations’ checkout counters and on the web at www. goodvibes. com.

Says Good Vibrations’ COO, Jackie Strano, “For over three decades, Good Vibrations has been giving back to the community by actively participating in various causes. Our GiVe campaign(s) are a way for us to formally mobilize our creativity, enthusiasm, and energies towards causes we believe in. We are proud to partner with the Global Justice Ecology Project and bring attention to important environmental issues that affect all of us.”

The GV-GJEP nonprofit partnership highlights Good Vibrations’ commitment to raising awareness about the positive environmental impact of greening one’s sex life with the types of sustainable sensual products carried in their Ecorotic ™ line.

“Environmental action can begin at home, in the bedroom” says Dr. Carol Queen, Good Vibrations’ staff Sexologist and company spokesperson. “Sex is part of our lives, so any issue that concerns us out of the bedroom has implications inside it: if we recycle, buy local produce, watch our carbon use, and think ecologically in other ways, it makes sense to do the same when we make sexual choices.”

“What makes sex green?” expounds Dr. Queen, “In the first place, most people have sex in ways that use the earth’s resources lightly, with a way smaller carbon footprint than taking a drive.”

Good Vibrations earth-friendly Ecorotic™ collection features all-natural and organic products, as well as items that have less environmental impact, such as toys made from superior, longer-lasting materials and rechargeable vibes. Many sex toys contain phthalates, a plastic softener, which have been linked to cancer and damaging sperm. In 2007, Good Vibrations eliminated all phthalates-containing products from their inventory. Customers can rest assured that all Good Vibrations Ecorotic™ products are safe and phthalates-free. By featuring lubes and toys manufactured from natural, vegan and/or sustainable materials and ingredients, Good Vibrations offers its customers healthy products that are as good for the planet as they are for their sex life.

Good Vibrations was founded with a culture of good work ethics and socially-conscious business practices. From vendors with fair labor practices to lubes and toys made with natural or vegan ingredients, Good Vibrations hopes to pass to their customers, healthy products that are as good for the planet as they are for your sex life.

Carpinteria, California (PRWEB) February 13, 2007

NuSil Technology (www. nusil. com), a cutting-edge manufacturer of silicone-based materials for healthcare, aerospace, electronics and photonics, has launched an extension to its line of color masterbatches for liquid silicone rubbers (LSRs). The new, translucent-color palette meets USP and ISO biological testing requirements, while offering new, off-the-shelf pigmenting options for the healthcare industry.

The MED50-4800-X and MED50-4900-X series extensions consist of pigments dispersed in a vinyldimethyl-terminated, polydimethylsiloxane polymer and are offered in a range of translucent colors, consisting of black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and dark blue. Custom colors, obtained through the blending of eight base colors, are available upon request.

These masterbatches eliminate the use of powders that may contaminate cleanroom environments and reduce production time. In addition, strict quality controls ensure color consistency.

"The translucent color extensions to NuSil's product line offer customers even more options when adding color to healthcare applications that require silicone," said Brian Nash, vice president of Marketing and Sales.

The translucent masterbatches offer easy and precise pigmentation of LSRs and low-consistency materials, which may be injection-molded. The restricted product line, MED50-4900-X, is supported by USP Class IV biological testing, including systemic toxicity, intracutaneous study, seven-day muscle implantation, as well as hemolysis study. The unrestricted product line, MED50-4800-X, is further supported by 90-day muscle implantation with hispathology. Both product lines will be supported by U. S. FDA master access files.

NuSil's MED50-4800-X and MED50-4900-X are available in 50-gram, as well as one-, eight - and 40-pound packaging. For more information, visit www. nusil. com or call 805-684-8780.

Health Enterprises Launching Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® - 1st & Only All-Natural Dry Eye Product

Health Enterprises Launching Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® - 1st & Only All-Natural Dry Eye Product

Health Enterprises, Inc, a leading provider of consumer healthcare products, announced a retail distribution agreement with Biologic Aqua Research for Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® - the 1st and only all-natural product for dry eye.

North Attleboro, MA (PRWEB) September 28, 2010

Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® is the first and only all natural dry eye product. Unlike chemically based dry eye drops, the patented EyeMist® instantly re-hydrates the Aqueous (Water) Layer of the Tear Film with an easy mist application that is contact lens safe. This is critical since it is the loss of water/moisture from the Aqueous Layer that may result in dry eye and discomfort.

Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® contains 100% Bio-Logic Aqua Tissue Culture Grade Water that is pure, all-natural, pH-balanced and biocompatible with the eye’s tear film. The EyeMist® may be applied as often as desired with no burning or blurred vision. It contains no chemicals, preservatives or saline with over 100 applications in each 1oz bottle.

“Health Enterprises is thrilled to partner with Biologic Aqua Research to bring this innovative product to retail. Given the unfortunate growth of dry eye it is critical that every retailer carrying dry eye drops offer their customers Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® - the only all-natural, drop-free dry eye product,” commented Brendan Leonard, president of Health Enterprises, Inc.

“This exciting new relationship will enable Bio Logic Aqua Research to have our All-Natural water products readily available at retail for all of our patients and customers,” said Sharon Kleyne, Founder and Chairman of Bio-Logic Aqua Research

Health Enterprises, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of branded and private label OTC consumer healthcare products sold in retailers across the globe. For more information about Health Enterprises and its complete product line, visit www. healthenterprises. com.

Bio-Logic Aqua Technologies Biomedical Research is the only company, worldwide, specializing in water and hydrotherapy research, and in natural water products for medical and pharmaceutical application. The company has been conducting groundbreaking research for over a decade and is committed to a two-fold objective: (1) Understanding the medical benefits of the company’s rare Bio-Logic Aqua® tissue-culture grade of water. (2) Developing hand held applications of the water for the benefit of human health dehydration, in an increasingly, polluted and stressful global dry air and water crisis.

HUNTINGTON, NY --- Americans are getting emotionally beaten up everywhere they go.

Every day, there is the threat of war. Tension builds.

Every day, there is the threat that we will be attacked again. Tension builds.

We are on Orange Alert, but we are asked to go about our daily routine as if nothing is wrong... let the experts be ever vigilant. Tension builds.

You neighbor's kid is called to serve, so is your nephew. Tension builds.

The Dow goes down. Tension builds.

Financial disasters, mismanaged funds, you have to work until the day you die. Tension builds.

VX and Saran Nerve Agents -- Where are they? Tension builds.

The kids going over are asked to bank their sperm, just in case. Tension builds.

"My neighbor's kid and my nephew -- will they be protected if those agents are unleashed?" Tension builds.

Where does it end?

This isn't good, folks. Images and thoughts are racing through your mind at lightning speed. How can you focus? How can you concentrate on the task at hand? You can feel the tension build inside you and pound away, getting stronger and stronger like the worst headache you ever had... you feel like exploding. HELP!

International Pelvic Floor Muscle Expert Presents Live Webinars on Telemedecine

International Pelvic Floor Muscle Expert Presents Live Webinars on Telemedecine

This upcoming webinar, will show how Howard I. Glazer Ph. D. uses the internet to share his expertise in the field of Lower Gastrointestinal, Urological and Sexual Dysfunction disorders.

(PRWEB) February 4, 2010

In an upcoming webinar, Howard I. Glazer Ph. D. will discuss how he shares his expertise in the field of Lower Gastrointestinal, Urological and Sexual Dysfunction disorders with colleagues and patients around the world and how this expertise can help patients in the Dallas, Texas area.

Dr. Glazer is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Weill College of Medicine of Cornell University/New York Presbyterian Hospital, with a professional practice focus on surface electromyography in the diagnosis and treatment of lower urogenital tract, gastrointestinal tract, and sexual pain and dysfunction. His background combines neurophysiology/ neurochemistry, learning theory, sex therapy, behavioral medicine and electromyography.

He discovered that the muscles of the pelvic floor can be measured by highly sophisticated muscle measurement technology known as surface electromyography (SEMG); a noninvasive procedure much like an electrocardiogram to measure your heart muscle. Once the patients' exact abnormality is documented, it can be corrected by an individualized program of electromyographic assisted muscle rehabilitation (biofeedback) to assure that the correct changes occur in the muscle.

Recent technological and methodological advancements have enabled Dr. Glazer to provide SEMG evaluation and treatment services via the internet. In the first live webinar of the series on March 17, 2010, Dr. Glazer is joined by Kathy Tisko, P. T., a physical therapist in private practice in Dallas, TX with a focus on the evaluation and treatment of men and women with chronic pelvic pain. They will discuss how Kathy is able to enhance patient care by providing her patients with access to Dr. Glazer's expertise. They will then introduce the Glazer Intrapelvic SEMG Assessment and describe treatment procedures for a wide spectrum of functional disorders for many pelvic region symptoms - perineal pain, vulvar pain syndromes, prostate, urethral and bladder pain syndromes, pudendal nerve pain and ano-rectal pain as well with incontinence issues in men and women.

The development of telemedicine and evidence based biofeedback protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pelvic pain disorders is a major undertaking. In subsequent webinars, Dr. Glazer will discuss how through collaboration with the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe, his SEMG Assessment is being used in several other multidisciplinary and multinational research projects:
In London, England with an anesthetist in the field of pain management;  In Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a urologist in radical prostatectomy prediction and intervention in post partum urinary incontinence and in a pediatric population suffering from polysymptomatic enuresis;  And in Nanjing, China, with a group of colorectal surgeons.

All webinars in this series are designed to provide guidance for both professionals and members of the public with special interest in the topics covered. Subscribers to this lecture series not only benefit by learning of the latest breakthroughs but also know that their contributions to the foundation's International Research and Education Projects (IREP) help to advance studies and bring alternative and complementary medicine closer to home.

The Biofeedback Foundation of Europe's mission is to provide health professionals worldwide with a greater understanding of how biofeedback training can enhance their ability to care for patients. Using an innovative approach to sharing knowledge, they offer a wide variety of online courses, and webinars.

The BFE was originally founded to promote a greater awareness of biofeedback among European health professionals and to educate clinicians in the use of the latest biofeedback techniques and technology through training workshops. The Foundation's advisory board is comprised of leading clinicians and researchers from multiple disciplines who share a common interest in the dissemination of information about this rapidly growing field. Their 14th Annual Meeting will take place this year from April 13-17, in Rome, Italy. The Biofeedback Foundation of Europe is a non-profit organization headquartered in the Netherlands.

Leading American Programmes for Teen Weight Loss Launch First Teen Weight Loss Camp in UK

Leading American Programmes for Teen Weight Loss Launch First Teen Weight Loss Camp in UK

Camp Wellspring UK Focuses on Behavioural and Emotional Therapies, as Well as Diet and Exercise, to Achieve Healthy, Permanent Weight Loss

Penrith, Cumbria (PRWEB) May 1, 2006

U. S.-based Wellspring Camps today announced the establishment of Wellspring UK, Britain’s first comprehensive, scientifically-based summer weight loss camp for teens ages 12 to 17. The programme focuses not just on weight loss through diet and activity management, but also addresses the psychological and emotional issues that often prevent successful weight loss by sustaining problematic eating and inactivity. Through a combination of cognitive-behavioural therapy, an introduction to healthy eating habits, and daily exercise and adventure activities, campers at Wellspring’s U. S. programmes typically lose 2 kilograms per week during camp, and continue to lose weight after leaving the program.

The camp, located in the Lake District and based on the Cumbria campus of the University of Central Lancashire, is the first programme to be established outside the U. S. for Healthy Living Academies, the organization that manages Wellspring Camps. Healthy Living Academies is America’s leader in the treatment of obesity in young people.

“Obesity and excess weight are the most serious health issues facing British children,” said Deb Sweeney Whitmore, Director of Wellspring UK. “In fact, a recent study by the Health and Social Care Information Centre revealed that in 2004, 24% of 11-15 year-old boys were obese, along with 25% of 11-15 year-old girls – nearly double the rate of 10 years earlier. Up until now, treatment options for significantly overweight children and teens have been limited and rarely effective,” Whitmore added. “Wellspring UK was designed by top researchers as a healthy lifestyle immersion program that introduces both the teen and his or her family to a new lifestyle and a new way of thinking.”

“We welcome Wellspring to England, and are delighted that they will be partnering with UCLan Penrith,” said Vice-Chancellor Dr. Malcolm McVicar of the University of Central Lancashire. “Wellspring’s programmes have demonstrated the best results ever recorded by any teen weight loss programmes in the U. S. or Great Britain.”

According to Dr. Daniel Kirschenbaum, Clinical Director of Healthy Living Academies and Wellspring Camps, the average participant loses substantial weight at camp, and 91% of students maintain their weight loss or continue to lose weight at home. The average student loses an additional 3.4 kilograms over the next 6 months at home.

Wellspring UK campers will be provided a low-fat, low calorie-density diet, and will participate in a wide range of adventure activities in the Lake District National Park, including rock climbing, ghyll scrambling, abseiling, canoeing and backpacking. Research has demonstrated that outdoor adventure activities may be more effective for producing successful long-term weight control than more typical sports or fitness activities. Students also will participate in sports on the UCLan Cumbria campus, with the goal of achieving over 10,000 steps per day, as measured on a pedometre.

In past years, a number of UK families have flown their children to Wellspring programmes in America. An upcoming series on UK’s Channel 5, entitled “I Know What You Ate Last Summer,” chronicles the experience of six British students who participated in Wellspring’s California programme in 2005.

Healthy Living Academies (including Wellspring Camps) is a division of Aspen Education Group, which operates residential schools and summer programs addressing America’s crisis of pediatric and adolescent obesity. According to studies, Healthy Living Academies’ Wellspring Camps have achieved the best short-term and longer-term results ever reported for weight loss camps in the U. S. To learn more, visit www. healthylivingacademies. com or call 07999 657120.

Aspen Education Group is recognized as the leading provider of education programs for struggling or underachieving young people. Aspen’s 33 programs in America provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including boarding schools, residential treatment and wilderness therapy.
