Pro Mujer Celebrates Service to Over 1 Million Women and Their Families at Oct. 22 Benefit

Pro Mujer celebrated its 17 years of service on October 22 with a gala at the Lighthouse in New York City. The event raised more than US$500,000 to support Pro Mujer's efforts in Latin America.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 1, 2007

Pro Mujer (www. promujer. org), a development organization providing Latin America's poorest women with microfinance, business training and healthcare, celebrated its 17 years of service on October 22 with a gala at the Lighthouse in New York City. The event raised more than US$500,000 to support Pro Mujer's efforts in Latin America.

Citi and its global director of microfinance, Bob Annibale, and Western Union's president, CEO and director, Christina Gold, were honored at the event.

Flora Callisaya, a client of Pro Mujer in Bolivia, was a special guest at the event. Six years ago Ms. Callisaya used her first loan from Pro Mujer to start a printing and photocopying business. With her increased income and savings, she bought her own land and a house. Thanks to Pro Mujer, she gets regular PAP smears, and physical exams and vaccinations for herself and her children.

"Before I was very timid and didn't talk to people. Now I interact with people all the time. I've seen for myself that women can advance, that we are worth something and can help ourselves," said Ms. Callisaya. "Pro Mujer is like school for us. Here we can see each other, have fun, relax and learn."

The gala was chaired by Rosario Perez, founder and owner of R. P. Advisors LLC, with co-chairs Stephen R. Downes, executive director of Cushman & Wakefield, and Jonathan Weiss, head of investment banking for Wachovia Securities.

Honorary chairs Robert and Luciana Duvall joined 330 guests and senior level representatives from corporations such as AIG, Avon, Alothon Group, Citi, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Standard & Poor's, and Western Union, among others.

Salma Hayek, Placido Domingo, Benjamin Bratt, Talisa Soto, and Maria Elena Lagomasino were also honorary chairs.

At the event guests made pledges of up to $5,000 each to sponsor a Pro Mujer communal bank, which helps 25 poor women to expand their business, increase their income, gain access to health services, develop self-confidence and build leadership skills.

To find out how to sponsor a communal bank, contact Leila Freedman at 212.952.0181 x15 or lfreedman @ promujer. org

ComedyGuys. com Makes Online Defensive Driving Courses Available on Android Mobile Phones

ComedyGuys. com Makes Online Defensive Driving Courses Available on Android Mobile Phones

ComedyGuys. com continues to make mobile defensive driving more fun and convenient for Texas drivers with their online defensive driving course for Google’s Android smartphone operating system.

Richardson, TX (PRWEB) October 8, 2010

Recently, Comedy Guys Defensive Driving made online defensive driving in Texas more convenient by formatting the online version of their comedy driving safety course for Apple's iPhone and iPad. Not satisfied with making their online traffic school work with Apple’s mobile technology, ComedyGuys. com has now made the course compatible with Google’s new Android operating system for multiple smartphones and carriers.

After registering online, customers may take the course from any computer with Internet access or using their iPhone, iPad, and now Android smartphone. And because nothing is downloaded and all information is stored on Comedy Guys' servers, switching back and forth among different devices is no problem.
"Time-wise, our online defensive driving course is flexible because people can login and out whenever they want," says ComedyGuys' Cash Cooper. "Now by making it available on mobile devices, our course is available wherever our customers are."

Offering online defensive driving to mobile phones allows users to login when they have time to kill and no computer. Regardless of where a customer is – at their desk during lunch, on the treadmill at the health club, or on the bus or train ride home – as long as they have Internet access via their smartphone, they can work on the course, making defensive driving fit into their schedule instead of the other way round.

"A lot of our customers really like not having to sit at the computer," Cooper adds. "They love the fact that they can take the course sitting in a lounge chair at Starbucks or even laying in bed. It really makes our course the most convenient in the defensive driving industry.

"Having our course work on Apple’s iPhone and iPad is great, but we don’t want people to think we have a man crush on Steve Jobs. With the course working on Android phones, we are now able to deliver online defensive driving to customers of other mobile broadband providers. Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile all have new Android phones."

The company's state approved defensive driving curriculum covers all required content for a Texas driving safety course, but Comedy Guys uses professional comedians to make the course more entertaining. Comedy writers wrote the original curriculum and the text for the online course, and comics appear in the video clips throughout the course.

In addition to the online course, ComedyGuys. com continues to offer Texas defensive driving courses in over 30 locations. A complete schedule of defensive driving classes is available at the Comedy Guys website or by calling 877-826-6339.

About ComedyGuys. com:
The people at Comedy Guys Defensive Driving (http://www. comedyguys. com) have been teaching driving safety classes for more than 15 years. Their goal of this Dallas based company is to create safer drivers and have some fun in the process. ComedyGuys. com uses the TEA approved driving safety course published by A Safer Driver, Inc.

Cambridge Healthtech Institute Announces Its Premiere Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine Conference

Cambridge Healthtech Institute Announces Its Premiere Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine Conference

Drivers, Best Practices and Strategies for Pre-Competitive Consortia.

Needham, MA (PRWEB) March 3, 2009

Cambridge Healthtech Institute announces its Premiere Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine conference, to be held June 22-23, 2009 at the Marriott at Metro Center Hotel in Washington, DC. This conference is aimed at addressing some of the key challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry today, including, what has been described as the "Revenue Cliff" that the pharmaceutical industry faces, as a number of key patents expire on major drugs, as well as how the industry confronts the additional challenges of declining pipeline productivity, declining availability of R&D resources, and increasing regulatory and business practice pressures.

The program will focus on pre-competitive, consortia-based collaboration in drug discovery and development as a way of addressing major shared challenges within the industry, while sharing the cost for these solutions. "Given the number of challenges that the industry is facing," says Phillips Kuhl, President of Cambridge Healthtech Institute, "There is clearly a need for new models and approaches. Although this approach runs counter to some deeply entrenched attitudes within the industry, sharing best practices from past and current successful consortia provides a valuable approach for better understanding where this new model may be applied, and how they can be organized and managed for success."

The conference program will deal with such questions as how best to organize and manage these consortia, guidelines for data sharing, and how to effectively manage IP issues. The conference will feature speakers with first-hand experience in setting up and running successful consortia. Speakers will talk from first-hand experience about what works and what doesn't as the program explores the most important new models, key issues, challenges and best practices of Collaborative Innovation in Biomedicine.

Featured speakers include William Mattes, Ph. D., Director, Toxicology, Critical Path Institute; Jackie Hunter, Ph. D., Senior Vice President, GlaxoSmithKline; Arthur Holden, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Serious Adverse Events Consortium; Ken Buetow, Ph. D., Associate Director for Bioinformatics and Information Technology and Director of Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology, National Cancer Institute and Co-founder, caBIG™ and The BIG Health Consortium™; Rebecca D. Kush, Ph. D., President and Chief Executive Officer, CDISC; Robert Porter Lynch, Chief Executive Officer, The Warren Company, Chairman Emeritus, The Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals, Inc. (ASAP); and Jessica Nadler, Ph. D., AAAS Fellow for Policy and Technology Policy, Department of Health and Human Services.

Case studies of emerging consortia-based models and best practices will be featured from such consortia as The Innovative Medicines Initiative, The Critical Path Institute, The Serious Adverse Events Consortium, Biomarkers Consortia, EMEA, The Dundee Kinase Consortia, and Drug Safety and Toxicology Consortia.

New Oxygen Cylinder Lift Developed for Ambulances Can Help Reduce Back Injuries

New Oxygen Cylinder Lift Developed for Ambulances Can Help Reduce Back Injuries

The Tank Boss is a new oxygen cylinder lift developed by I-Tec Mfg for ambulance and rescue companies. EMS personnel no longer need to risk injuring their backs as a result of lifting tanks themselves.

Winnsboro, TX (PRWEB) July 20, 2006

I-Tec Mfg has developed the Tank Boss, a new oxygen cylinder lift designed to raise tanks into ambulances. The purpose of the Tank Boss is to decrease lifting type of back injuries for EMS workers by offering a zero-lift device.

Owner and retired fire Captain, Mike Wilson, created the Tank Boss to help alleviate back injuries. “Almost one in two [workers] (47%) have sustained a back injury while performing EMS duties,” (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, 2005).

“It’s no longer a chore to switch out the cylinders,” stated Jose Cruz, paramedic for the Dallas Fire Department.

The Tank Boss uses a linear actuator to vertically raise cylinders up to 27”. The tanks can then be slid directly into ambulance compartments. Unlike onboard lifts, one Tank Boss can be used for multiple ambulances because it stands alone and can transfer tanks from storage area to ambulances.

I-Tec Mfg has manufactured the Multi-Grip Head Immobilizer since 1989, and this year added numerous other products such as the Tank Boss, PAL (a Patient Assist Lift), Adjust-A-Splints and more. Currently, I-Tec Mfg is in the process of developing a mechanical patient lift for healthcare facilities. More information is offered at their website www. itecmfg. com.

Sony UK Hands Web Analytics Agency WebtraffIQ Contract

Sony UK have awarded web analytics firm WebtraffIQ http://www. webtraffIq. com an initial one year contract to manage its website measurement and analysis.

(PRWEB) December 11, 2003

11 December 2003, London, UK

Web analytics firm WebtraffIQ wins one year Sony UK contract

----Begins----

Sony UK have awarded web analytics firm WebtraffIQ http://www. webtraffiq. com (http://www. webtraffiq. com) an initial one year contract to manage its website measurement and analysis.

The contract has been awarded to WebtraffIQ after Sony UK searched for a measurement, reporting and analysis service after reviewing a number of products. The new vendor search was to identify a product that would unify their existing systems to increase the efficiency of the Sony UK website, and use the information to make key business development decisions. This information will be applied to increase customer loyalty with a superior level of customer service.

The Sony Business website offers information on an extensive range of solutions and products for the education, healthcare, media and retail markets amongst others. ItÂ’s an important extension of the Sony business accessed by 1400 employees in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and 2000+ corporate clients and product distributors.

Kevin Hutchinson, CTO for WebtraffIQ explains what Sony UK desired, “The goal for Sony UK was to regain even more control from their existing measurement tools, and to integrate WebtraffIQ with Content Management System [CMS] and Customer Relationship Management Systems [CRM]. They required a single solution which possessed a common interface for reporting and analysing Sony UK’s Key Performance Indicators [KPIs].”

Mike Crawford, General Manager, Sony Business Europe, comments “We were impressed with WebtraffIQ’s flexibility and understanding of the requirements we sought, and their ability to adhere to what we specifically laid out for them to achieve for us. We are pleased with the solid and accurate measurement and reporting of marketing and PR activities including; email and viral campaigns, regional above and below-the-line campaigns such as online and off line advertising, partner and member activities and the unity of Sony UK data systems.”

Marcos Richardson European Director at WebtraffIQ comments, “Sony UK’s commitment to the project surpassed all previous collaborations in WebtraffIQ’s history. They mapped out their technological infrastructure and presented its key performance indicators [KPIs] to WebtraffIQ, creating the foundation for WebtraffIQ’s integration plan and solution criteria. Ultimately, we were chosen due to our consultative approach and our proven technology.

Hutchinson adds, “It’s yet another win for WebtraffIQ which, demonstrates again that our technology is compatible with most other business systems and that we can implement and launch reporting across the whole business extremely quickly. From a business perspective we continue to grow organically and win high profile accounts proving that web metrics and analytics is continuing to surge ahead and define its role within the traditional and digital marketplace.”

IT Support Firm Guidance Consulting Finds that Bigger is Not Always Better

IT Support Firm Guidance Consulting Finds that Bigger is Not Always Better

Smaller IT consulting firms like Georgia-based Guidance Consulting are finding that their smaller size makes them more marketable in today's corporate environment. The ability to specialize and personalize their approach to IT support results in lowered costs and time estimates over larger IT firms.

Duluth, GA (Vocus) December 9, 2009

The experts at IT support provider Guidance Consulting have always known that large IT consulting firms have dominated the market for technology support services (http://www. guidance-consulting. com/services. html) for years, in everything from the fields of education and online storefronts to healthcare. However, the company is now finding that in today's market, there is a new focus on smaller, more personalized firms that can offer specialized services at a fraction of the cost.

The first company to report on this new phenomenon was healthcare research firm KLAS, which found that smaller IT firms (http://www. guidance-consulting. com/services. html) are better at everything from planning and assessment to staff support. Guidance Consulting, Inc., an IT firm operating out of Georgia, reinforces these findings with an emphasis on more than just the healthcare field.

“What they found in the healthcare field is that the smaller companies like Guidance Consulting have to be more competitive,” says Guidance Consulting senior consultant Ronald Gottilla. “We have to offer better rates and better services in order to compete. So that's just what we've done.”

The IT field is one that is always changing and developing, particularly when it comes to issues like the latest in vulnerability protection needs. Larger IT companies are slower to adapt by virtue of size, and there's simply no way around it. “You've got layers of bureaucracy to get through in a large IT company,” asserts Gottilla. “When you work with a small firm, you can get decisions and answers almost immediately.”

Of course, it's impossible to ignore the dollars and cents side of things, as well. Although skimping out on IT protection (http://www. guidance-consulting. com/services. html) is never a good way to ensure a company's safety against viruses and attacks, cutting costs is one of the most important measures business leaders can take in today's economy. Cutting costs by hiring a smaller IT consultant firm is often the ideal solution, since companies don't have to take a hit to quality even if they're paying less.

“When you hire a company like Guidance Consulting,” adds Gottilla, “you also get the benefits of our IT staffing department. If you're cutting costs by getting rid of an internal IT department, we can not only provide the protection planning (http://www. guidance-consulting. com/services. html) you need, but we can supply you with temporary employees to get you through the rough patches.”

Varlink Announce the Launch of the New HC100 Wristband Printer by Zebra Technologies

Varlink Announce the Launch of the New HC100 Wristband Printer by Zebra Technologies

Varlink, the York-based specialist distributor of mobile computing and associated barcode printing products is pleased to introduce the new HC100 wristband printer from Zebra Technologies.

(PRWEB) July 30, 2008

The HC100 Patient I. D printing solution was developed to meet the unique needs of healthcare providers and makes wristband printing easier and more cost-effective than laser solutions. This solution combines the reliable HC100 direct thermal printer, as well as easy-to-load cartridges containing the industry's only antimicrobial-coated wristbands, the Zebra's Z-Band® wristbands.

Sabine Kelly, Varlink Marketing Manager commented, "We are pleased to add the HC100 printer to our portfolio. Zebra products can help a growing number of our VARs offer healthcare professionals solutions complying with a new legislation coming into force on July 18th standardising the use of patient wristbands. This legislation states that all NHS organisations in England and Wales will have to issue patient wristbands containing the patient's name, date of birth, NHS unique number and first line of address. All this information can easily be easily incorporated into a 2D barcode printed on the patient wristband itself. The barcode can then be scanned at the point of care to help eliminate errors and mistakes."

Bill Gordon, Varlink Technology Director addedc "Compared to other wristband printing methods, the HC100 is easier to use. It comes with integrated media cartridges, which are easier and quicker to load, hence the time saving element is considerable. All these features make the HC100 a total solution for wristband printing. A growing number of our resellers have identified opportunities in the healthcare market and I am convinced that this new printer will be well received within our reseller community."

Varlink will be stocking the HC100 wristband printer from Monday 21st July, 2008.

IS THE FAT YOU EAT KILLING YOU? Two seagulls, a herd of pigeons and a dog named Transit just canÂ’t be wrong on this one ... or could they? By Lieutenant Colonel Bob Weinstein

IS THE FAT YOU EAT KILLING YOU? Two seagulls, a herd of pigeons and a dog named Transit just canÂ’t be wrong on this one... or could they? By Lieutenant Colonel Bob Weinstein.

Well, yes, probably most of it, if your fat intake is made up of saturated, hydrogenated and trans fats, it is having a major negative impact on your state of health. You may not feel some of it or you just feel tired all the time. Find out what Jake, two seagulls, a herd of pigeons and a dog named Transit think about all this fat and get some easy to understand answers.

(PRWEB) October 13, 2003

"Two seagulls, a herd of pigeons and my dog named Transit just can’t be wrong on this one. I come to the beach every weekend and share my fries, hot dog and popcorn … and you should see em! Act like they haven’t eaten in weeks and they just got done with the tourist on the beach blanket next to mine," Jake remarks to Bob Weinstein, known as the Health Colonel, who is conducting one of his military-style workouts on Fort Lauderdale Beach. “Jake, everybody likes to have a little fun with food and, yes, I too will indulge in a hot dog every now and then and enjoy every bite! Sugar, salt and fat intake can actually act like a drug and the seagulls, pigeons and your dog Transit are responding just like us.”

Jake and his dog Transit both were overweight. Walking across the sand was a visible burden for both of them. Why Jake would name his dog Transit remains a mystery. When Transit walked – or really more like waddled – he should’ve had a sign on his back end that said “WIDE LOAD, PASS WITH CAUTION”. "Mass" Transit takes on a whole new meaning. Anyhow, I guess Transit must have been a fast moving, agile dog once upon a time. Jake loved Transit and shared everything with him, even made him overweight just like Jake. When they would walk it was hard to tell who imitated whom. You’d think they were related.

“Bob what can I do to get rid of this extra fat on me and ol’ Transit? I’m 48, have a sedentary office job and the only exercise I get is to drive to the grocery store and walk the aisles. “ Jake asks. Bob responds with the reply that has been heard over and over again, “Eat right and exercise. I know that that statement alone will not help you to get started. Let’s keep it simple and easy to understand. Here’s some of what you need to know …"

DonÂ’t become prey to processed foods. Treat your trip to the grocery store like a hunt. And as with every hunt you will find prey and predator. Are you prey or predator when you grocery shop? HereÂ’s a sign I saw in a grocery store: "1 to 12 servings, depending on how your day went." Such a sign is trying to make you the prey! DonÂ’t let it happen! Explore the options and carefully look for whole foods that are closer to nature, which means as unprocessed as possible. You will be surprised at the discoveries you will make and you will raise your level of awareness of just what is healthier and what to avoid! And you will start avoiding certain foods. This much is easy. Stay away from junk foods and the nice to have munchies which are usually high in fat, sugar and/or salt, and eliminate sugar and diet beverages - drink water instead.

Already confused? HereÂ’s a quick and easy overview of what you need to know about fats:

Partially hydrogenated fat is bad fat. Hydrogenated means bombarded with hydrogen. This makes margarine solid and is used in commercial baked goods and to make shortening out of vegetable oil.

Saturated fat is bad fat. This is naturally hydrogenated fat. No more than 10% of your diet should include saturated fat, which of course means that a little regular saturated fat will probably not harm you.

Trans fats are very bad, if not worse than saturated and hydrogenated. No, it has nothing to do with oversized cross dressers! This stuff (oils) is processed with high heat to make the oils stable for a longer shelf life.

No, you're not going to fall over dead if you eat a muffin at a coffee shop, bakery or from the grocery store.

What you will find in the grocery store and restaurants is that trans fat is “hidden" and wrongfully sold as "good" fat. Canola oil, soy oil and corn oil are bad fats because they contain lots of trans fats to extend the shelf life. I recommend throwing this stuff away and never cooking with it or using it on salads again! Anything called "salad oil" or "vegetable oil” has lots of trans fats.

Olive, peanut and sesame oils are some excellent examples of good fats as long as they are cold pressed. There are others. These are stable fats in their natural state and can therefore naturally have a long shelf life.

My advice to you is to eat natural, cold pressed, oils that have not been processed, such as coconut, peanut, olive, sesame. Be aware that the word “natural” does not mean that the fat or oil is still in its natural state. It really is not very natural if it has been processed.

The good fats in the right quantities have many benefits for your health. The good fats protect against aging, improve the immune system, balance hormone production, and improve brain function and vision.

Two things you can do now to live longer and healthier:

1. Make extra virgin olive oil your margarine, butter, vegetable oil, canola oil or whatever bad oil you use.

2. Stay away from processed foods. Ok, the question comes, "Well what's processed food?" Here's my definition on what it is not. Food in its natural state is not processed. Ok, that still doesn't help you. If the food is in it's natural "killed' state, be it plant or animal, it is natural.

A couple of quick test questions on whether food is processed or not: Which oatmeal is processed, instant or the stuff you have to cook a long time? You get it! The stuff you have to cook a long time is closest to its natural "killed" state. Which are processed … canned or frozen vegetables? Canned, of course. Frozen is not processed as long as it was in it's natural "killed" state when it went into deep freeze. What about all those sandwich meats to include hotdogs? They are processed unless they are indeed in their natural, ‘killed” state. Organic does not mean natural. Organic could actually be processed or natural.

See a doctor on all health concerns to include nutrition and exercise.

African-American Organ Donor Educator & Advocate declares HE "has a dream" for Black History Month

Mike Jones, kidney recipient, organ donor educator and advocate, President and CEO of the One Miracle Celebration of Life Foundation, and contributing author to the recently released Chicken Soup for the African-American Soul book has declared “he has a dream” to bring awareness about kidney disease and its causes to all kidney patients and families across the nation. So this month, Black History Month, Jones will begin his national crusade to educate the masses of color about kidney disease and organ donation and is available for speaking engagements and interviews.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 4, 2006

Mike Jones, kidney recipient, organ donor educator and advocate, President and CEO of the One Miracle Celebration of Life Foundation, and contributing author to the recently released Chicken Soup for the African-American Soul book has declared “he has a dream” to bring awareness about kidney disease and its causes to all kidney patients and families across the nation. With over 65,000 kidney patients in the country, 35% of them African American and 22% Hispanic, there are no foundations west of the Mississippi that focus on communities of color. So this month, Black History Month, Jones will begin his national crusade to educate the masses of color about kidney disease and organ donation and is available for speaking engagements and interviews.

Jones says, “Doctors, nurses, psychologists all tell you what you can and can not do when you are on dialysis, but when the question is asked, ‘Why?’ there is really no definitive answer. I asked my physician has he ever been on dialysis and all he could do was tell me no. So unless the physician has been in the position of the patient, there is no way s/he can know what an individual person can or cannot do unless they’ve been in that patient’s shoes. So being the rebel that I am and being told all these things that I couldn’t do, I just went ahead and done them. There are so many things a person can do on dialysis. What I am teaching is to incorporate kidney disease into your lifestyle as opposed to your lifestyle into kidney disease.”

Jones is focused on raising awareness to communities of color from a patient’s perspective because it makes such a difference in one’s improvement. As an Ambassador for One Legacy, a transplant donor network, and through his various speaking engagements and interviews, Jones sees his dream slowly turning into reality. He became an advocate for donor awareness education after he was blessed to receive a kidney after waiting five long years. He refused to let dialysis stop him from leading a normal productive life. On September 25, 2001, Jones, a young African-American Christian man, received the “gift of life” from his donor, Patricia Abdullah, a White Muslim woman whom he met while enrolled in a four-day Personal Self-Development seminar. After the surgery, Jones was told that it would take him in excess of a year to get back to his normal course of activities. He was able to participate with his normal activities within 6 months of his transplant.

To begin his national kidney awareness and organ donation crusade in celebration of Black History Month, Jones will be speaking at the National Alliance of Mental Health in Beverly Hills, CA on February 3rd. Other upcoming speaking engagements and events include: Feb 11th - Chicago State University in Chicago, IL; Feb 24th - Washington Preparatory High School and Chaparral High School in Temecula; Mar 1st – Garden Grove Rotary Club in Garden Grove, CA; Mar 4th - KSBR Radio interview in San Juan Capistrano, CA; Mar 5th - Donor Recognition Ceremony, Hyatt Regency, Long Beach, CA; Mar 11th – KRLA Radio interview with Dr. Gene Steiner; Mar 18th - HealthCare Partners Medical Group Health Fair, Central Los Angeles, CA; Mar 19th – 4th Annual “Evening of Jazz” Fundraising Event at The Vault 350 Concert Hall in Long Beach. Jones says, “It is such and honor and a pleasure to be able to give back to my community and continue to raise awareness of our culture, especially during Black History Month as we celebrate our culture.”

To book a speaking engagement or interview with Mike Jones, please call Kreative Konsepts, Inc. at (714) 293-5185 or visit www. onemiracle911.com for more information on The One Miracle Celebration of Life Foundation.

Getting "Live" with Facial Fillers

Getting "Live" with Facial Fillers

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) July 21, 2005

Plump lips, smooth, beautiful faces - but at what price? In the last 3 years, various cosmetic fillers have been FDA approved and their demand among the public has skyrocketed. But even the most popular fillers such as Restylane, Hylaform and Captique are temporary, lasting only 4-6 months. Other plastic filler materials are often palpable, cause inflammation or infection, and have a firm, unnatural feel.

In a study of 150 patients over a three year period, Brent Moelleken, MD, FACS a nationally-renowned board certified plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills found that using his trademarked LIVE FILLJ procedure, the patients obtained PERMANENT results.

“Unlike fat injection, where most of the injected cells are damaged and do not “take,” LIVE FILL cells are fully alive when they are placed into the aging area and continue to live as they normally would, so they yield permanent results,” Dr. Moelleken explained. No idle words here: Dr. Moelleken has studied both fat injection and LIVE FILL cells under a microscope and with 3-D imaging to prove his point.

During a LIVE FILL procedure, Dr. Moelleken makes a small incision in the lower abdominal area and removes tissue, creating what looks like a fine “string of pearls” consisting 100 percent of the patient’s own tissues (no plastic or artificial materials are used). These strings are then placed into lips and underneath facial wrinkle lines. LIVE FILL can be used in any area on the face that needs volume restored.

LIPS, SMILE LINES, CHEEKS, CHEEBONES, even within the BROW are all areas that can be plumped and filled—naturally. The entire procedure takes from 45 minutes to 2 hours to perform and requires little recuperation time, typically a long weekend.

“In all patients in our series,” Dr. Moelleken says, “you can feel the soft LIVE FILL years later: the LIVE FILL survived in every patient.”

Dr. Moelleken notes that the use of grafted materials in plastic surgery is actually a tried and true technique, but the grafts to date have been large and bulky for the precise placement now possible with his trademarked LIVE FILL process. And LIVE FILL cannot be rejected by the body, because it comes from the patient themselves.

DonÂ’t plan on running to your plastic surgeon to get LIVE FILL yet! Dr. MoellekenÂ’s work has just been accepted for presentation at the American Society of Plastic Surgery International meeting to be held this September in Chicago.

Dr. Moelleken has several pre-selected patients willing to be featured in print media or on camera for LIVE FILL interviews. He is also available for selected interviews with print or television media prior to the presentation of his material to the scientific societies.

BIO: Brent Moelleken, M. D. is a Beverly Hills plastic and reconstructive surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has numerous studies and papers on his American Society Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) award winning superficial cheek lift and over 70 published articles and abstracts, including many in the Journal of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Remote Teleradiology: A New Option for $575/month

Remote Teleradiology: A New Option for $575/month

Many hospitals and clinics, especially in rural America, need the benefits of teleradiology, the ability for remote radiologists to interpret their diagnostic images and consult with physicians on treatment options. Unfortunately, most of these facilities cannot afford the cost to purchase and install servers in their facility. A new offering, Remote Teleradiology, makes the benefits of professional teleradiology available to these facilities with the installation of little or no equipment at their site. Contract costs are usually low enough to fit their operating budget without the extended process of board approval.

Sugar Land, TX (PRWEB) April 14, 2004 -

– Many hospitals and clinics, especially in rural America, need the benefits of teleradiology, the ability for remote radiologists to interpret their diagnostic images and consult with physicians on treatment options.

Radiologists are highly-skilled doctors who specialize in reading and interpreting images from diagnostic systems, such as X-Ray, ultrasound, or magnetic resonance (MR). These specialists produce reports to doctors that assist them in deciding on treatment options for their patients.

As critical as the radiologistÂ’s role is in the treatment process, many areas of the country are experiencing an acute shortage of radiologists. In Texas, for example, roughly one-half of the practicing radiologists are expected to retire within the next 5 years. This shortage is especially acute for rural healthcare facilities that must compete with large urban hospitals for the available staff. The lack of on-staff radiologists can mean the loss of patients and related income because they cannot diagnose quickly enough. Many rural facilities are forced to use circuit radiologists who stop by for a few hours once a week.

The answer to most of these problems is teleradiology, the science of securely transmitting and displaying diagnostic images using public transmission methods, such as the Internet. Using teleradiology, any digital image can be sent to and temporarily stored on remote servers. With any computer connected to the Internet, a radiologist located anywhere in the world can download, display, and manipulate those images so they can interpret the study and produce a report.

The cost of installing teleradiology, usually between $35,000 and $50,000, is often prohibitive for smaller hospitals, clinics and imaging centers. This critical need is pushed back to wait for future grants or other cash infusion.

There is no longer a need for delay. Engineers at Miner Miracles LTD have designed, fully tested and proven a new method for delivering teleradiology on a remote basis. Remote Teleradiology allows digital diagnostic images to be sent to remote servers as though they were installed on the local network for the facility. Once stored on the central servers, radiologists can download, manipulate and interpret studies with a full reporting component that includes dictation.

The annual contract provides Remote Teleradiology for the equivalent of $575/month. This contract provides the following services:

•HIPAA and DICOM compliance.

•Professional setup, installation assistance, user training, 8x5x5 help desk.

•Bandwidth and temporary storage space on our servers.

•Sophisticated image viewer with full reporting cycle.

All data transmission over the Internet and data storage on hard drives is encrypted to prevent hacking and protect patient privacy.

The teleradiology system has been proven in dozens of installations in hospitals, clinics and imaging centers. The Remote Teleradiology configuration has been proven in over six months of operation in hospital installations.

Any facility anywhere in the world with a reliable broadband Internet connection can now take advantage of these savings. With increased contract fees, remote picture archival and communication systems (PACS) technology and/or complete remote radiology information systems (RIS) technology is available using the same topology.

Facilities are encouraged to investigate MML Remote Teleradiology technology with a complete demonstration of all systems functions.

Reverse Mortgages to Help America’s Seniors Act Approved by U. S. House of Representatives

Reverse Mortgages to Help America’s Seniors Act Approved by U. S. House of Representatives

1st Reverse Mortgage USA®, a division of Mountain Pacific Mortgage, a Colorado based full service mortgage banker specializing in net branching, commercial loans and reverse mortgages today noted that last week the U. S. House of Representatives approved a bill that would remove the existing limit on how many reverse mortgages the Federal Housing Administration may insure. The legislation eliminates the cap on the number of reverse mortgages that can be insured by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Lakewood, CO (PRWEB) December 23, 2005

1st Reverse Mortgage USA®, a division of Mountain Pacific Mortgage, a Colorado based full service mortgage banker specializing in net branching, commercial loans and reverse mortgages today noted that last week the U. S. House of Representatives approved a bill that would remove the existing limit on how many reverse mortgages the Federal Housing Administration may insure.

The legislation eliminates the cap on the number of reverse mortgages that can be insured by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

H. R. 2892, the Reverse Mortgages to Help America’s Seniors Act, applies to loans issued under the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage program of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

A Senate version of the bill introduced by Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) is pending approval. Both bills enjoy bi-partisan support in Congress and are endorsed by consumer groups, such as AARP.

“Passage by the U. S. Senate is critical for America’s seniors. Reverse mortgages enable seniors to convert part of their home equity into income, without having to sell their homes.

Seniors’ ability to increase their monthly incomes to pay for home repair, rising property taxes, and the increasing cost of health care is providing incredible peace of mind for seniors”, and we can take great comfort in knowing that the availability of this program is not in jeopardy said Barry Scoles, division manager of 1st Reverse Mortgage USA®.

The Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM), an FHA insured reverse mortgage program that started in 1989 has a limit of 250,000 reverse mortgages. HECM loans are the most popular reverse-mortgage product. In April 2005, concerns of a possible suspension of the program arose when the cap was almost reached. The 2005 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill raised the cap from 150,000 to 250,000.

A reverse mortgage is a loan that enables homeowners 62 or older to borrow against the equity in their homes, without having to sell the home, give up title, or take on new monthly mortgage payments. Loan proceeds can be used for any purpose, and taken out as a lump sum, fixed monthly payments, line of credit, or a combination.

The loan amount depends on the borrower’s age, current interest rates, and the value and location of the home. A reverse mortgage does not have to be repaid until the borrower moves out of the home permanently, and the repayment amount cannot exceed the value of the home. A senior’s home does not have to be owned free and clear to qualify for a reverse mortgage. Reverse mortgages are often used to retire existing debt on a home.

Finding Infertility Treatment Bargains In Tough Economic Times

Finding Infertility Treatment Bargains In Tough Economic Times

The cost of infertility treatments can quickly add up for couples trying to conceive. New infertility treatment bargains can help couples save cash for when their bundle of joy arrives.

Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) November 12, 2008

Finding the right infertility treatment is already difficult for many of the seven million US women and their partners diagnosed with infertility. Today's tough economy can make that task even more challenging.

Infertility treatments are not covered by insurance in most states, leaving many patients overwhelmed with the high costs of medical treatment, surgery, and fertility drugs. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) shows the average price of in vitro fertilization (IVF) is $12,400 per attempt. With a national IVF pregnancy rate of around 30%, several attempts may be required, increasing costs further.

"Several IVF clinics are starting to offer lower cost alternatives, such as a guarantee of success within three attempts or some refund," said Richard King, MD., a co-author of the upcoming book, Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain (http://www. clearpassage. com/resources/book. php). "Be sure to ask if the program reimburses for fertility medications, which can cost several thousand dollars per cycle."

Whether daunted by the high costs, health concerns about surgery or fertility drugs, or by religious beliefs, some couples turn to alternative therapies. "At least three alternative infertility treatments (http://www. clearpassage. com/infertility/female-infertility. php) have been shown to improve fertility" according to infertility expert, physical therapist Belinda Wurn and co-author of 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain.'

"Acupuncture, group therapy, and a manual physical therapy (Wurn Technique®) have published peer-reviewed studies showing increased pregnancy rates," explained Dr. King. Acupuncture increased IVF pregnancy rates when performed 25 minutes before and after embryo transfer, according to a German study published in 'Fertility and Sterility' (2002). Acupuncture sessions generally range from $60 to $100 per session.

In another F&S study (2000), group therapy increased fertility rates. Group therapy can be a real bargain, especially since many organizations and communities offer free sessions.

The Wurn Technique®, a manual physical therapy, increased pregnancy rates for women seeking natural conception to 71%. It also increased clinical pregnancy rates for those using IVF to 67%, when used before embryo transfer, according to a study in 'Medscape General Medicine' (2004). The women in the studies averaged five years of infertility before receiving the therapy.

"The Wurn Technique appeals to many women as an infertility treatment because it does not involve drugs or surgery," Wurn said. "In addition, the treatment costs are significantly less than IVF."

Wurn developed the therapy with her husband Larry Wurn to help cure her pelvic pain 20 years ago. Wurn states, "I am thrilled that we are now able to offer an affordable infertility treatment that is effective." Studies and citations on the Wurn Technique® have been published in major medical journals including 'Fertility and Sterility,' 'Medscape General Medicine,' and 'Contemporary Ob/Gyn.'

16,000 San Diego Children and Adults Get Early Christmas Presents

16,000 San Diego Children and Adults Get Early Christmas Presents

Toys for Joy exists to bring joy to those who need it most, the 16.8%* of San Diego County's children who are living in poverty. This year, in addition to the 10,000 toys and 60,000 pounds of food that will be distributed to families in need, there will also be free food, clothing, and groceries, live entertainment, a children’s fun zone, and a special venue for teens.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 1, 2010

Last year, the rain came down but nothing dampened the spirits of the Toys for Joy volunteers, who gave out more than 12,000 toys and 10,000 bags of groceries to more than 8,000 people who attended the annual Christmas outreach.

Over 2,300 volunteers from a dozen other churches joined to also provide meals, clothing, haircuts and medical services to the attendees, many of whom waited in line as early as 2AM, endured the rain and trekked through mud-soaked fields in order to ensure their families would have a memorable Christmas.

Organizers hope that this year’s 14th Annual Toys for Joy event at Abraham Lincoln High School and Walter J. Porter Elementary School will have an even greater impact, especially in light of the financial hardships many families will experience this Christmas because of today’s economy. About 16,000 children and adults are expected to attend.

“More than ever, people need to step up and help those who are in need this year,” said Miles McPherson, pastor of Rock Church. “Christmas is a time when God showed His love for us, and we’re ready to show God’s love in the communities where we live and serve. That’s the purpose of the church.”

In addition to toys, a food court and clothing, this year’s event will feature a Teen Area, with live bands, guest speakers, dance crews and graffiti artists. Community partners will be on hand to provide information about resources available to residents that include job training and placement programs, inner-city tutoring, gang alternatives and more.

The church has organized Toys for Joy since 1996. The event is part of the Do Something World campaign. Last year, the Rock Church donated 615,956 hours of community service to the City of San Diego (valued at $9.6 million*) with 166,251 of these hours given directly to Mayor Jerry Sanders for projects specifically identified by him, saving the city $2.6 million. This year's goal is 700,000 hours, with 200,000 hours going directly to the Mayor's projects. To date, 450,955 hours of city-transforming ministry service have been completed.

This year’s Toys for Joy will be held from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Abraham Lincoln High School, 4777 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113.

Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Demands Federal Investigation Of Florida Homebuilders Colluding To Conceal Toxic Chinese Drywall In 2005-2006

Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Demands Federal Investigation Of Florida Homebuilders Colluding To Conceal Toxic Chinese Drywall In 2005-2006

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is demanding a United States Department of Justice criminal investigation of a major Florida homebuilding supply firm, a Chinese drywall manufacturer, and numerous major US homebuilders conspiring to conceal toxic Chinese drywall information from 1000's-to-perhaps 10,000's of Florida homeowners/families in 2005 & 2006. The group says,"we don't think its just Florida we are talking about either. We think the same types of collusion between homebuilders, and Chinese drywall makers was happening in Alabama, Louisiana, Southeast Texas, and Mississippi-its a small world, and they had to have known, as far back as 2005-2006, its now 2010." The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says,"and insurance companies should be included too-like no one in the insurance industry knew? AC coils were turning black, failing & homeowners were sick, and the insurance companies all of a sudden were having to pick up the tab on thousands of AC unit failures in Florida, and other US Southeast States, in 2005-2006." Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Washington, DC (Vocus) July 12, 2010

According the Americas Watchdog's Chinese Drywall Complaint Center, "we always knew that at some point in time it would be revealed, that major US homebuilders had colluded, and conspired with building supply firms, and manufacturers of toxic Chinese drywall to conceal the obvious from completely innocent US homeowners." They say, "we also always knew, there was no way possible homeowners in Florida, or other US Southeast states could be sick, they could be on their second, or third AC coil; and every executive in the Florida homebuilding, AC, mortgage banking, and insurance industries had amnesia about the realities of toxic Chinese drywall? Toxic Chinese drywall, US homebuilders, and their pals in the US Southeast-was always a house of cards." The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is now saying,"with the revelation that a major Florida homebuilding supply chain, along with a major manufacturer of toxic Chinese drywall, coupled with major US homebuilders all knew about the toxic Chinese drywall issue as far back as 2005, and failed to disclose this critical fact to 10,000's of completely innocent US homeowners, we are demanding the US Justice Department launch a major national criminal investigation into the issue-NOW." The group also says, "now would also be a really good time for President Obama to address this gigantic toxic Chinese drywall housing disaster in public-for the first time ever. The Obama Administration has known about the toxic Chinese drywall disaster since at least March of 2009, yet President Obama has failed to mention the topic in public one time since that time?" Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is also saying, "as long as we are at it, we are also demanding the Obama Administration bring in the IRS. Most of the workers who installed the toxic Chinese drywall in Florida, and other US States were undocumented, the major homebuilders knew it, and they created a phoney 1099 tax fraud scheme to not have to pay Federal taxes on these workers." Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

So who are the other bad guys in this US housing Chinese drywall disaster, aside from the Chinese, and what would seem like an endless river of toxic garbage being imported from China? The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says,"in addition to some US homebuilders trying to save a buck, there is no way major US air conditioning manufacturers did not know something was horribly wrong as far back as 2005. No one has ever seen thousands of AC coils fail in a year-or less-but that's what was happening in Florida in 2005-or before & they had to have known it was the toxic Chinese drywall." The group says, "further, the US insurance, or banking sectors should not be allowed to weasel out of this mess. Aside from failed AC coils failures, microwaves failing, refrigerators failing, Florida homeowners were sick, and they were submitting claims to their insurance companies-or they were just walking away from their homes, and no one in national mortgage banking, or the US insurance industry knew something was wrong? BS!" Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "as long as President Obama is at it; he should explain to the nation why the absolutely worthless US Consumer Products Safety Commission has failed to recall one sheet of toxic Chinese drywall." They also say, "why has the even more worthless US Centers for Disease Control failed to provide health care protocols for health care workers dealing with thousands of citizens suffering from toxic Chemical exposure issues in the US Southeast? Mr. President-times up-do something. These innocent homeowners, and their children need help-NOW!" Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Note from the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center," US Banks, or mortgage loan servicers are still selling foreclosures in Florida, and other states, that contain toxic Chinese drywall with no disclosure-this needs to change now." The group says,"in addition some desperate homebuilders are quietly fixing these houses, with a make it up as you go along remediation protocol, and then taking the toxic Chinese drywall to a city dump, or county land fills. Why have a EPA?" Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com.

Register for the next reThinking eHealth Webinar on September 9th at 2pm EST/ 11am PST

Birmingham, Ala. (PRWEB) August 30, 2009

Is Meaningful Use a game changer for your hospital? Remember how HIPAA created new positions called security, privacy or compliance officers. Why? To ensure hospitals and their vendors met the requirements and protected the hospital from possible penalties.

Meaningful Use has incorporated eHealth technologies, practices and processes as part of what will become an integral strategic component within the hospital. Like HIPAA, the emergence of an eHealth Officer will become critical. Why? To ensure hospitals and their vendors comply to Meaningful Use and avoid penalties, but unlike the un-funded HIPAA, hospitals will be incented to comply.

Join us for the next reThinking eHealth Webinar, as the presenters discuss the emerging need for an eHealth Experience Officer. Cheryl Eck, who has served as the Director of eHealth at Edward Hospital and Health Services in Illinois for the past three years, will provide information on how to effectively operate an eHealth office and interact with departments and hospital executives across the organization. Debbie Sarra, MEDSEEK's eHealth Office Program Manager, will share how she is helping organizations oversee, manage and build eHealth offices in their facilities.

Garett Trumpower, VP of Strategy and Consulting for MEDSEEK, will explain the added benefits to a hospital of an eHealth Officer, including ways to increase revenue numbers, decrease expenses, improve hospital staff productivity and use the facets of eHealth to gain market share in the surrounding community. In addition, Garett will reveal some of the consequences a hospital might face if they do not establish an eHealth office within the next two to three years.

New Memoir Encourages Readers to Never Give Up and Trust in God

New Memoir Encourages Readers to Never Give Up and Trust in God

Author reaches out to those who live in poverty and fear to strengthen their faith to overcome life’s challenges.

Miami, FL (Vocus) September 10, 2010

Throughout the course of his life, God has appeared to Edward Sylvain through dreams and visions. He has also been blessed with the talent of reading and writing. Now he shares the story of his life in The Struggle Never Ends, where he spreads God’s news around the whole world and encourages those who are often discouraged, lonely, abused, unhappy and depressed.

In this part memoir, part collection of poems, Sylvain reveals the difficult struggles that he and his family went through. They suffered greatly from starvation and adversity. There were times when they failed to eat, and when their father died, their mother had no choice but to find work in order to keep her children alive. As he grew up, the author got on the wrong side of the law and was thrown in jail. It seemed as though his struggles would never end...

Being born and raised in the ghetto made things difficult. Thus, Sylvain got caught up in trouble. But he made a decision to give up all his wrongdoings and accepted Jesus as his Saviour. This change led him to become a better person and a unique to cease all pains and failures. Now he reaches out to those who live in poverty and fear, to trust in God and never give up.

“We knew through painful experiences poverty is never pleasant to the poor though it is the ugly facts of life which compelled him to remain at the bottom of deep blue sea…  Love, unity, strength, courage, health, faith, and determination are the most equivalent facts humankind cannot survived without…” says Sylvain.

Seniors Are Falling and CanÂ’t Get Up

Seniors Are Falling and CanÂ’t Get Up

Senior citzens in our country are falling at an alarming rate, usually resulting in injury or even death. What is being done about this dilema that outpaces drownings 3 to 1? Falls may be preventable. It takes a little work, a little planning, and sometimes a little courage.

(PRWEB) July 29, 2004

A few years ago there was a commercial whose tag line proclaimed, “I’ve fallen and can’t get up.” As we age, we are faced with a new series of problems different than those faced in our youth, the most prevalent of which is falling (sometimes fatally). Falls are becoming more and more routine with the senior population, averaging 1 out of every 3 persons over the age of 65 who live independently in their own home. The numbers increase to 1 out of every 2 for those over the age of 75. The numbers become even more staggering - 70% of accidental deaths in people over the age of 75 result from falls. We are faced with an estimated $79 billion paid out in medical expenses each year as a result of falls. Yet, with the increase in medical costs, we sit and watch as our parents, grandparents, and friends suffer needlessly with little to no intervention. Are there simple solutions to this debilitating and paralyzing threat that plagues our senior population? Or do we hope and pray that our loved ones will not be another statistic.

Falls may be preventable. It takes a little work, a little planning, and sometimes a little courage. Recently, the United States Congress addressed these very issues by introducing The Elder Fall Prevention Act of 2002. This bill, if passed, will allow for public funds to be used for the education of seniors in fall prevention, as well as fund the research for services to be extended under Medicare/Medicaid. Until this sweeping piece of legislation is passed, what other options do seniors and their families have to deal with this concern? First, they must understand who is at risk for a fall. Those who experience any of the following physical or environmental factors may be at risk:

Four or more medications

Loose carpeting/throw rugs

Low blood pressure

Unstable chairs

Visual deficits

Poor lighting

Balance disorders

Stairs

Weakness/muscle tightness

Lack of bathroom equipment

Slowed reflexes

The risk of a debilitating fall increases as the number of factors increases in oneÂ’s life. There are also numerous reasons people fall, most of which are genetically disposed:

65 years old or older

Thin

Early onset of menopause

Foot disorders

Poor oral hygiene (poor fitting dentures)

ParkinsonÂ’s disease

AlzheimerÂ’s disease

Family history of falls

Smoker

Fear of falling

There are numerous other factors that may predicate a senior falling. If you feel that you or a loved one is at risk, seek help immediately. But where does one turn for help? We recommend starting with your doctor or pharmacist. Take all of the medications currently prescribed by all of your physicians, as well as any over the counter medication you take regularly and putting them in a brown paper bag (in their original bottles). Ask your healthcare professional if any of these can cause drowsiness, dizziness, or balance problems when used with any of the other medicines in your bag.

Second, talk to your doctor if you recently have experienced hearing, visual, or balance changes within the past 12 months. Have you fallen in the past 12 months as well? Most people have difficulty discussing this matter with their doctors, but this information is imperative if the problem is to be corrected or avoided in the future. Ask your physician if there is an appropriate exercise program that incorporates strengthening, balance and endurance. This may call for a referral to a physical therapist for a number of visits.

Third, we must review the safety of our own homes. Are there throw rugs that can cause tripping? Are there routine items on the floor or overhead that may cause your center of balance to be shifted, causing a fall? Do you have bathroom safety equipment, such as grab bars, skid strips in the shower or tub, and a shower chair? Are your hallways and bedroom well lit? Consider placing a night light in each of these areas to illuminate walking paths.

Falls can be prevented in most cases. Routine home safety checks, exercise, and education do go a long way. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, “She says she wants to keep living in her home. We say it starts by keeping her on her feet.” There is no need for a senior to live in fear, or to be displaced physically from their life. We just have to help keep them standing.

National Survey Reveals Travel & Leisure Market Needs to Capture Loyalty of Online Consumers

National Survey Reveals Travel & Leisure Market Needs to Capture Loyalty of Online Consumers

National study unveiled at event sponsored by Forbes. com and the Advertising Club of NY; panel of travel industry marketing executives responds to data.

New York (PRWEB) July 18, 2006

According to a recent national study by Guideline, Inc. (http://www. guideline. com) (OTCBB: GDLN), one of the nation’s largest providers of custom business research (http://www. guideline. com/capabilities/business-research/on-demand. html) and analysis, the travel and leisure market is faced with the challenge of building brand equity with web savvy consumers. This is despite the fact that more than a quarter of all leisure and unmanaged business travel was booked online in 2005 and is expected to grow to 35 percent in 2006. Guideline’s study reveals that half of all mainstream and luxury travelers visit four to six websites before booking a trip, and 54 percent of typical travelers are influenced more by the recommendations of friends and family.

To shed new insight on the purchasing patterns and motivators of consumers that book travel online, Guideline (http://www. guideline. com) conducted an online survey of more than 400 consumers with household incomes of at least $100,000. In addition, those surveyed had taken a domestic or foreign vacation in the past two years. Furthermore, they segmented the respondents into “luxury travelers” and “mainstream” travelers, based on the average dollar amount spent on vacations.

Guideline’s Business Research (http://www. guideline. com/capabilities/business-research/on-demand. html) Analyst Jessica Hogue will be presenting the full survey findings Wednesday, July 19 from 8 to 10 a. m. at an event co-sponsored by Forbes. com and the Advertising Club of NY at the Harvard Club in New York City. In addition to online travel purchasing patterns and motivators, she’ll discuss how travel and leisure providers can build virtual relationships with consumers while improving their bottom line. A panel of travel industry marketing executives, representing Lufthansa, Southwest Airlines, R&R Partners – the advertising agency for The Las Vegas Conventions & Visitors Authority and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., will respond to the data.

“Guideline’s study affirms that while many consumers are beginning to migrate from online suppliers to branded airline, hotel and car rental sites, more than 80 percent of consumers rely on online agencies like Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity for their travel research,” said Hogue. “This indicates significant opportunity for branded travel sites to win over the hearts of consumers to ultimately build brand equity.

Guideline’s study also revealed that consumers, particularly those who book high-end travel packages, like the human touch. Nearly half (46 percent) of luxury travelers prefer to use a live travel agent and a quarter (25 percent) consult with tour operators. When it comes time to book the trip, 30 percent of luxury travelers prefer to use a personal service. Half of mainstream travelers prefer booking online via an online travel agency or travel search aggregator, suggesting that these travelers want to short-circuit the process and complete the transaction quickly.

When it comes to the dollar amount of a vacation booked online, 51 percent of luxury travelers are willing to book a $2,000 to $5,000 vacation package online. Another 29 percent are comfortable booking a $5,000 or more vacation package. However, this isn’t true of the standard traveler. A quarter (24 percent) would be willing to spend $2,000 to $5,000 for a vacation booked online. But, almost half of respondents are comfortable spending up to $1,000 and $2,000.

Guideline’s study confirms that consumers today are well aware of and concerned about identity theft. The study found that one in four consumers do not think websites are trustworthy. And another quarter of consumers refuse to transact large purchases online for this reason. Despite any concerns they may have, most consumers (63 percent of standard travelers and 69 percent of luxury travelers) enjoy the online research process of pre-planning their trips.

“In looking at consumer preferences and buyer behaviors, it’s clear that marketers have a significant opportunity to engage consumers throughout the entire travel process and make it easier for them to navigate and book travel online,” said Hogue. “Travel suppliers also need to take note of how online travel agencies are becoming more “consumer-friendly” and further differentiate themselves as experts and a trusted travel resource.”

In addition to Jessica Hogue’s presentation, Guideline (http://www. guideline. com) will be conducting a webinar on August 23, 2006 at 1 p. m. To register for the webinar, please visit http://guideline. webex. com/event (http://guideline. webex. com/event). For additional information on this study, please contact Jessica Hogue at 212-645-4500.
