Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 10, 2006

Before these barbecue summer days end, SAGES, or the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, has released for public sale “Cutting Edge Recipes,” an all-purpose cookbook compiled from the favorite recipes of some of the top surgeons and medical industry leaders in the country.

“Cutting Edge Recipes,” available for $30 each, contains a broad spectrum of recipes that will help even the most harried home cooks dish out a four-course meal. From decadent appetizers like shrimp remoulade to health-conscious vegetarian sides that include cranberry chutney, there is a recipe for any foodie in this cookbook. Readers will also find the occasional humorous note or photo of the contributing doctors/chefs alongside their recipes.

Begun as a collaborated creation among the food-loving members of SAGES to promote better cooking and better patient care, $20 from every sale of “Cutting Edge Recipes” will go to benefit the SAGES Education and Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advances laparoscopic, endoscopic, and other minimal access surgical methods by supporting reproducible scientific research and outcome studies, graduate and post-residency education, and public outreach.

The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) represents a worldwide community of surgeons that can bring minimal access surgery, endoscopy, and emerging techniques to patients in every country. SAGES provides its members with continuing education and training and supplies patients with accurate, up-to-date medical information. Incorporated in 1981, SAGES was the first to issue the Surgical Residency Guidelines for Endoscopy, the entity that undertook the governance of training in laparoscopy, and the innovator that issued the “Framework for Post-Residency Training,” which now serves as the template for American Medical Association Guidelines in training and credentialing.

To purchase a copy of “Cutting Edge Recipes,” order online at www. sagesfoundation. org or call the SAGES Education and Research Foundation at SAGES Foundation, 11300 W. Olympic Boulevard, Ste. 600, Los Angeles, CA, 90064, (310) 437-0555.

Parents: Kids Are Not Leaving the Nest, They Are Taking Over Yours

Parents: Kids Are Not Leaving the Nest, They Are Taking Over Yours

You send your children to school, sacrificing along the way to ensure they get a good education so they can take care of themselves in the "real world." They come out with their degrees but do not have a clue how to apply them to their new environment.

Chandler, AZ (PRWEB) September 10, 2005

According to Joe Kahler, who holds a BA and Masters in Education, schools are not teaching the complete skills set.

"Young adults have zero training in personal life skills to cope with car, life, home and health insurance, work and personal social skills, finance basics from investing to budgeting, to even knowing how to look and negotiate for their own apartment!"

After decades of research, Joe Kahler has put together the critical "Real World" information into one easy to read book called Out On My Own…Now What?! Tips and Insights So You’re Not Left Hanging in the Real World! Joe’s ultimate goal is to teach, assist and suggest ways for “young” adults to design their life instead of waiting to let life happen.

Joe is a well informed interview, witty and engaging. His talks cover important issues such as:

Automotive insights to keep them from going “auto their minds”! From a basic understanding of “whatÂ’s down in the hood” to how to buy their first vehicle.

Home maintenance tips from getting stains out of carpets to renting/buying your first place.

Financial insights from budgeting to learning "Multiple Methods of Making Money." "A job feeds you today, investments feed you for life."

Social skills from tipping to goal setting to knowing what all those forks are for at a formal dinner!

Joe will give every listener at least three tips that they would be able to use in 30 minutes to make their life easier in the "Real World!"

"STYLE-ISH" Windows Reflect Record Profit Growth

"STYLE-ISH" Windows Reflect Record Profit Growth

Yorkshire-based Style Group UK has reported record profit growth for 2004 against industry trends.

(PRWEB) January 13, 2006

Against an extremely challenging UK market, Yorkshire-based Style Group UK, Britain’s largest independent replacement PVCu windows and doors manufacturer and supplier, has bucked industry trends and announced a record operating profit of £7.1m for 2004, a 24.6 per cent increase on the previous year’s figure of £5.7m.

The profit growth comes on the back of a consolidated turnover increase of 4.5 per cent and marks the fourth year in succession that performance has improved reflecting the new structures, philosophy and focus being followed by the senior management team. For the second year running sales exceeded £100m.

The underlying profit before tax and dividends shows an impressive and continuous growth for one of Yorkshire’s fastest growing companies from £1.493m in 2001, £2.693m in 2002, £5.691 in 2003 to the latest figure for 2004 of £7.090m.

The Style Group UK is the parent company of three specialised subsidiaries including SAFESTYLE UK (http://www. safestyle. co. uk (http://www. safestyle. co. uk)), the easily recognised retail arm operating on the back of its award winning celebrity-fronted television and radio advertising campaigns, WINDOWSTYLE UK, the constantly developing manufacturing arm and TRADESTYLE LTD, the supplier to the non fabricating retailers and installers market.

Safestyle’s operating profit during the year improved by 4.23 per cent as its brand was further developed. Customer recommendations increased, customer standards improved and a reduction in trade debtors in 2004 confirmed the company is meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

Tradestyle had an excellent year with turnover increasing by 50 per cent taking it to £6m together with a significant increase in profit.

Windowstyle has seen investment continue with the introduction of a glass toughening furnace. The new unit should improve gross margins, shorten lead times and reduce reliance on external suppliers. Glass unit manufacturing equipment has also been replaced and upgraded. The company has increased its profit margin at a time when there is real upward pressure on raw material costs.

John Ross, the Chief Executive of Style Group, outlines the company performance: "Another year of solid progress with the results being achieved against an industry background of uncertainty and reduced consumer confidence. This undoubtedly illustrates the determined efforts of our management team to focus on profit rather than sales".

He continued: "Unlike our competitors, the Group uses television and radio advertising as one of its prime means of securing leads and our success justifies this route to market. We shall continue to grow market share by producing memorable and creative advertising.

"Safestyle is now well established as one of the largest and best known replacement window retailers in the United Kingdom and that has been reaffirmed this year with increased margins, improved efficiency in our manufacturing processes and tighter control of our overheads. The overall trading performance is highly satisfactory and yet the management team has not relaxed its efforts and we can expect improved results in the future."

Mr. Ross looked at the company’s investment projects and commented: "This year also saw increased capital expenditure and we invested £2.8m in new capital projects. By far the largest investment was in the installation of a toughened glass facility at our Barnsley plant and we are confident that this will not only increase our control of the production process by replacing the amount of work undertaken by suppliers but also provide rapid payback and sustainable cost reductions.

"Our Consumer Credit Licence is an important part of our business and in 2004 it was renewed for a five-year term. As part of that application we reviewed our policies relating to product quality, customer service and support facilities for staff, including health and safety training. This has all resulted in significant changes to improve customer service standards and create a better working environment for our staff."

Mr. Ross summed up the year: "The Style Group has always operated a culture of meritocracy by rewarding and promoting our best performers. This year was no exception and a record number of employees advanced their careers. The Group has reached a size where we are creating a large number of career opportunities for top performers in our industry and we continue to attract the best. The Style Group is in good hands and I confidently expect further progress in future years."

About Style Group UK:

The STYLE GROUP UK is the largest independent manufacturer, supplier and retailer of uPVC windows and doors in the United Kingdom. Since its inception in 1992 the Group has continued to expand and now has 40 branches across the country from the South West to the North East serviced by a large in-house transport fleet. It ranks as one of Yorkshire’s fastest growing companies according to a recent Business Insider Top 500 companies survey published in July 2005, rising from 129th to 88th.

The Group incorporates three specialist subsidiaries catering for manufacture, trade supply and retail as follows:-

WINDOWSTYLE UK is the manufacturing arm and its state-of-the-art factory in Wombwell, near Barnsley, South Yorkshire produces up to 10,000 quality assured frames per week. It is also the area’s largest single employer.

TRADESTYLE UK was established in 2002 and supplies exclusively to non-fabricating retailers and installers. It has its own manufacturing facility and has seen demand for its products at a genuine trade price soar way beyond expectations.

SAFESTYLE UK is the best known name within the Group. It is synonymous with quality and affordability and installs domestic window and door frames valuing in excess of £2 million every week. It is renowned for its memorable, celebrity-fronted television and radio advertising campaigns featuring its value-for-money offers.

Respected Medical Doctor Joins Enrich Ranks

Respected Medical Doctor Joins Enrich Ranks

OREM, UTAH-Enrich International is pleased to announce that Dr. Glenn Anderson will be working closely with Enrich as a consultant and guest lecturer/author. Many Enrich Distributors might recognize Dr. Anderson, a partner with the White Rock Medical Association in White Rock, Canada, as one of our most popular lecturers and keynote speakers at previous Enrich events.

"Dr. Anderson is a staunch advocate of meeting health challenges and problems with natural answers," says Garth Borthistle, vice president of North America. "He brings years of experience and a vast reservoir of knowledge to our team. His support of and confidence in Enrich makes Enrich an even more compelling choice."

Dr. Anderson, who has worked as a medical doctor for more than 25 years, first heard about Enrich some seven years ago. "I had a patient with severe arthritis," he recalls. "I had her on high-power medications, and consequently she was experiencing some side effects, including serious stomach problems. She wasn't doing very well.

"One day she came in and she was doing better, a whole lot better," he continues. "When I asked what she was doing, she admitted she was taking herbal supplements."

Dr. Anderson's curiosity was aroused. "I was surprised, bewildered, amused," he explains. "So I decided to find out more about it."

Of course, it didn't hurt that at the same time, Dr. Anderson's wife, Lorna, had also learned about Enrich International-and signed up as a Distributor. These two events motivated Dr. Anderson to begin to study and learn about natural supplementation in general and Enrich products in particular.

Once he became convinced about the real benefits of Enrich products, Dr. Anderson became a staunch advocate. It was only natural that he begin lecturing at local Enrich events where Distributors welcomed information and acceptance from a respected and credible source. As his reputation spread, Dr. Anderson spoke at more Enrich activities, including several national gatherings. The move to bring him onboard as a consultant means that Enrich Distributors have his respected medical counsel and experience to draw from as they share the Enrich opportunity with others.

In his new role with Enrich, Dr. Anderson will be a regular speaker at a variety of Enrich events, including selected Distributor meetings. In addition, he will author articles for Enrich marketing materials that will provide scientific and medical support for natural supplementation in general and Enrich products in particular.

For more information, contact Enrich Independent Distributors, John and Sharon DiLuvio. Our organization is International and as a part of the Royal Numico family of supplement companies, we have access to 98 countries.

Smart Cards Improve Patient Care, Business Performance at Memorial Hospital

Smart Cards Improve Patient Care, Business Performance at Memorial Hospital

CardLogix Teams With LifeMed (TM) For A Smart Card-Based EHR.

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) August 22, 2010

Irvine, CA - August 23, 2010 – CardLogix (http://www. cardlogix. com/), a leading manufacturer of smart cards and software for Healthcare Informatics, and S. M.A. R.T. Association, Inc., a supplier of smart card solutions for Healthcare, announced today that Memorial Hospital of North Conway, New Hampshire, has successfully implemented the S. M.A. R.T. Association LifeMed™ solution for streamlining patient registration. The LifeMed Electronic Health Record (EHR) card utilizes a CardLogix smart card, and features the following benefits: 1). Streamlines patient registration and eliminates the paper process, 2). Quickly and accuratly captures and processes patient data and medical history, including insurance eligibility, 3). Creates a single record that starts at registration and unifies all hospital departments for continuity of care, 4). Ensures a secure record that can’t be misused, containing data that is protected with advanced encryption, 5). Maintains a single, unified source of related patient information, such as non-hospital providers, and 6). Provides real-time integration into Insurance Accounts Receivable generation

Legacy Systems Enhanced
Lawrence Carbonaro, Director of Purchasing and Patient Access at Memorial, says that the LifeMed patient smart card and software has enabled the hospital to maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding patient record errors, while at the same time improving their business efficiency. “The card integrates essential, yet disparate, data systems within Memorial to connect records, share data, and update data on a real time basis”. Carbonaro adds that rather than disrupt and replace legacy systems (AllScripts, GE Centricity, CPASI, etc), the LifeMed solution improves them by helping them work together, saving money and redundant effort. “We are able to leverage and augment our existing systems with the LifeMed platform, while generating an ROI inside of one year”.

Documented Study Results
Since implementing LifeMed, Memorial Hospital has realized the following results: 1). Duplicate medical records and record errors were reduced from 7% to less than 1%. 2). Admissions went paperless and wait time has dropped from 22 minutes, to less than 3. 3). Press Ganey patient satisfaction increased 10% within 60 days. 4). Administrative Full Time Equivalents (FTEs) were reduced from 21 to 16. 5). Insurance receivable wait time went from 55 days to 42 days

3000+ Generic Drugs Available Online Helps Those Without Prescription Drug Insurance

3000+ Generic Drugs Available Online Helps Those Without Prescription Drug Insurance

MyStoreForMeds. com meets FDA guidelines for online prescription medicine store with new association with Lakeland, Florida pharmacy: More than 3000 generic drugs save big dollars for Americans without prescription drug insurance or to fill in Medicare gap.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 29, 2006

Americans pay more for prescription drugs than any other people in the world. Additionally, prescription drug expenditures make up the fastest-growing segment of the increasingly expensive U. S. health care system. While the popularity of online pharmacies has continued to grow - the requirements of the FDA has made it increasing difficult for online pharmacies to continue to offer discounted medicines to the general public. With more then 45 million Americans without prescription medicine insurance coverage, www. MyStoreForMeds. com online service is a lifesaver.

"The state of the Medi - Care program and the loop holes has only increased the number of people having to pay cash for medicine-45 million Americans have no prescription medicine insurance at all." said Arturo Villar, President of www. MyStoreForMeds. com. "We knew we had to find a solution that satisfied the requirements of the FDA, while also being able to meet the public demands for less expensive medicine. Our association with Discount Mail Meds has given us the opportunity to provide the continued conveniences and savings of online discount medicine." Discount Mail Meds is located in Lakeland, Fl.

According to industry experts, in coming months, millions of older Americans and people with disabilities will face a lapse in coverage known as the "doughnut hole" when their annual drug spending hits $2,250. At that point, Medicare drug plans stop paying for medications and require members to absorb another $3,600 in out-of-pocket costs before coverage resumes. And even while the plans aren't paying for their drugs, participants must continue to pay their monthly premiums. That is in addition to the 45 million Americans without any prescription medicine insurance coverage.

Likewise, a recent report issued by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services prescription drug costs are expected to increase by 12.6% a year for the next 10 years,. By 2010, 16% of what Americans spend each year on personal health care will be spent on prescription drugs, the department said. In 1999, it was 9.4%.As a result, even those with prescription drug coverage are being told by their insurance companies that they will have to pick up more of the tab for prescriptions.

Villar continued, "We feel like were able to put together this situation for www. mystoreformeds. com with great timing. We are happy to be able to be a part of a solution for many Americans who need affordable prescriptions medicines."

MyStoreForMeds. com is most known for their huge savings in over 3000 and more generic medicines with the benefits of lower cost, privacy; convenience; and speed of delivery (www. MyStoreForMeds. com has your prescription to your door in 1 business day) Prescriptions can be called or faxed in to 888-462-4579.

Florida Hospital College Salutes the Online Radiologic Sciences Program Graduates

Florida Hospital College Salutes the Online Radiologic Sciences Program Graduates

Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (FHCHS) proudly acknowledges the hard work and effort of the class of 2007 who will graduate on April 29 from the online Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences program.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) April 27, 2007

Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (FHCHS) proudly acknowledges the hard work and effort of the class of 2007 who will graduate on April 29 from the online Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences program (http://onlineimaging. fhchs. edu).

The 185 students in this graduating class completed their degrees from several regions of the United States. Some make their home as close as Orlando; others live as far away as California. However, over the past two years they have come together online with a common goal--to earn their Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences degree. The FHCHS online Radiologic Sciences program (http://onlineimaging. fhchs. edu) has become one of the most sought-after programs of its kind in the country with more than 700 students currently enrolled.

"I would like to be the first to congratulate the Class of 2007," said Genese Gibson, MA, RT, (R) (M) (QM) Chair, Department of Radiologic Sciences. "It takes a great deal of hard work and discipline to reach this step. The graduates will be able to obtain the rewards of their efforts, and gain the professional and personal recognition that goes along with their Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences."

Many of the graduates have developed close relationships with their classmates through the online program even though they are spread throughout the country. The graduation ceremony in Orlando will be the first opportunity many of the graduates have to meet their colleagues face-to-face.

Some of the graduates share their thoughts about their experiences in the program:

Shelley Donnelly of Merced, CA is a part-time instructor and lab assistant for the Radiology program at Merced Community College: "I have really enjoyed my learning experience at FHCHS," said Ms. Donnelly. "When I began the program, online learning was very new to me, but I truly enjoyed it and feel like my education was just as good, if not better than going to on-campus classes. I feel a sense of camaraderie with my fellow students in the program. Most, if not all, were very helpful in every aspect of learning; whether it was just a note of support, help in studying, or pitching in to help transcribe notes and PowerPoint presentations."

Jennifer Altiveros is a radiologic technologist residing in Seacaucus, NJ: "For those in the program, stick with it - all the hard work will pay off. For those still thinking about going back to school, it's never too late," said Ms. Altiveros. "I am amazed at the options that have opened for me. This program is getting recognition, slowly but surely. There are healthcare companies out there waiting to recruit students who graduate from this program. FHCHS does a great job by including requirements necessary to take the advanced certification exams within the course materials."

Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences online Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (http://onlineimaging. fhchs. edu) allows working professionals from around the world to enhance their career and earning potential without giving up their quality of life. The degree can be completed in as little as 18 months.

It took 10 Million dollars & 18 years of research & development!!

It took 10 Million dollars & 18 years of research & development!!

(PRWEB) November 10, 1999

Media Release

In the late 1970’s Dr. Gustavo Bounous and a team of physicians began comparing the effects of different dietary protein sources on the immune function. What they eventually found was intriguing. By using an isolate of milk serum as the protein source in the diet of animals, they found that the immune function was enhanced.

This effect was seen in a variety of ways including a greater response to a “foreign antigen,” a heightened resistance.

Subsequently, Dr. Bounous and his team were able to trace the immune-enhancing or “bioactivity,” of the protein mixture to its ability to provide a rich source of GLUTATHIONE PRECURSORS (specifically the amino acids, cystine & methionine which are also found in human milk) which enable the immune system to develop an optimum response when challenged with an immune stimulus (foreign antigen).

Dr. Bounous has worked with scientists and researchers around the world testing the effects and benefits of the protein in Immunocal® on subjects with compromised immune systems. This research has shown the powerful impact the protein in Immunocal® can have on a person’s health and well-being.

The patented milk serum protein isolate developed by Dr. Bounous is now commercially available in North America. In January of 1997 Immunotec Research Ltd., a privately held company based in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Canada began marketing the product under the brand names of HMS-90® in Canada and Immunocal® in the United States.

The principal shareholders of the company include Mr. Chuck Roberts (President), Mr. Dieter Beer, Dr. Gustavo Bounous (Director of Research and Development) and Mr. John Molson (Vice President).

Depression is not a disease and everyone can recover from it. But it will take breaking away from the medical system.

Cases like Christopher Pittman (the 12 year old who shot his grandparents) and Andrea Yates (the mother who drowned her 5 children) and all the school shootings (every instance involved the use of antidepressants) should prompt us to ask: What is wrong with the mental health system?

For example 20 million Americans take antidepressants and use is increasing by 10 percent a year. The fastest growing market segment for antidepressant use is children under the age of 6. Over 250,000 people a year are claiming Social Security disability because of depression. But the public is not hearing the true story about psychiatric drug treatment.

Antidepressant survivor and former pharmaceutical industry executive Jeffrey Wilson knows the inside story because he lived through a 23 year pharmaceutical coma caused by antidepressants and other psychiatric drugs. Invite this inspiring author and lecturer to discuss the truth about psychiatric drugs and the failure of the Mental Health System.

Some key points he will discuss:

· Depression is not a disease like the public has been led to believe.

· Antidepressants do not fix anything.

· Doctors are not doing their jobs by writing a prescription.

· The Government can’t and won’t protect us - they’re actually promoting the problem.

· The true cause of and solution for depression.

· How people’s lives are being ruined by a medical system out of control.

· An even bigger crisis - government mandated screening of our children and treatment with powerful psychiatric drugs.

Credentials: Jeffrey Wilson is not a doctor but a survivor of the abuse inflicted on him by a medical system that blindly promotes drug use. He survived 23 years of "treatment" and is a former executive at the worldÂ’s largest distributor of pharmaceuticals where he saw first hand how corrupt the system is. He is also the author of Irrational Medicine: The Antidepressant Crisis And How To Avoid Unnecessary Behavioral Drugs. For additional information check out www. irrationalmedicine. com

Revolutionary New Technique Uses Onyx to Fill Hard-to-Treat Aneurysms

Revolutionary New Technique Uses Onyx to Fill Hard-to-Treat Aneurysms

CINN's Dr. Demetrius Lopes is one of the first in the country to use a new noninvasive technique to treat brain aneurysms. The technique involves a new liquid polymer material, Onyx, which is injected through a catheter to the affected blood vessel. The solidified material prevents future blood flow into the weakened area of the vessel. Dr. Lopes is the first in Illinois and among the first physicians in the country to use Onyx to treat an aneurysm in the brain.

Chicago (PRWEB) March 31, 2008

It has been quite a week for aneurysm patient Diane Long of Homewood, Illinois. On Sunday, she struggled with double vision because of a large aneurysm in her brain compressing a nerve that controls eye movement. On Monday, she became one of the first in the country to have surgery using a noninvasive procedure and a newly developed material called Onyx. On Wednesday she was back home and feeling like she had a new lease on life.

An aneurysm is a pocket formed on a weakened vessel wall, which can disrupt normal blood flow, develop clots and in some cases, burst. Diane has a strong genetic predisposition to large aneurysms of the brain. Four of her family members, including two sisters, have received treatment for these types of aneurysms. So in 2005, when one her sisters developed a bleeding aneurysm, Diane made an appointment for an MRI of her brain. At that time, the MRI scans showed a small aneurysm, and the doctors said they would watch it. Recently it began to grow again, causing her to have a drooping eyelid and double vision.

Diane, who is a home health care nurse, carefully researched her treatment options for the large, 1.8-cm aneurysm. Through her research, she found Dr. Demetrius Lopes, an experienced vascular neurosurgeon with the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch (CINN) medical group -- http://www. cinn. org (http://www. cinn. org). Because of the large size of the aneurysm and the family history, Lopes suggested she use a stent combined with Onyx, a new liquid polymer material that fills the aneurysm pocket and prevents future blood flow into the weakened area of the vessel. It is injected through a catheter into the blood vessel of the brain at the location of the aneurysm. Once it is injected it solidifies into a spongy, cohesive material. Dr. Lopes is the first in Illinois and among the first physicians in the country to use Onyx to treat an aneurysm in the brain. His profile can be viewed at www. cinn. org/physicians/lopes-demetrius. html (http://www. cinn. org/physicians/lopes-demetrius. html).

"I feel a tremendous relief that the time bomb hasn't exploded, "she admits. "I am amazed that Dr. Lopes was able to use a treatment method that will hopefully prevent me from having future growth or rupture of the aneurysm, and he did it without opening up my skull. I was up and moving soon after the surgery, and he says my double vision will resolve over the next few months."

For more than 25 years, surgeons have opened the skull and placed a tiny metal clip at the base of the aneurysm. More recently, a noninvasive procedure using coils has been the treatment of choice. Flexible soft-wire coils are threaded through the catheter to the aneurysm. Once in place, the coils are released into the aneurysm sac, packing the open space and restoring normal blood flow. While coiling offers patients significant benefits due to its minimally invasive nature, one of the shortfalls of coiling can be its long-term durability, especially in very large aneurysms, such as in Diane's case. New advancements that provide for a more complete filling of the aneurysm sac such as Onyx, promise to provide patients who have either recurrent aneurysms after coiling or those that are determined to be unsuitable for coiling upfront another minimally-invasive alternative.

"Today there are numerous options for treating aneurysms," says Lopes. "The treatment I select depends on the size and shape of the aneurysm. So for patients like Diane, who have large, hard-to-treat aneurysms, I opted for using the Onyx along with a stent, which will completely block the blood flow and will keep her trouble-free for many more years, and hopefully, forever."

Infini Cosmetic Associates Receives AAAHC Accreditation for Outpatient Surgical Clinic

PHOENIX - Infini Cosmetic Associates moved into the new state-of-the-art location in Scottsdale Arizona in late 2007. Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) March 20, 2008

Infini Cosmetic Associates moved into the new state-of-the-art location in Scottsdale Arizona in late 2007. The outpatient surgical clinic recently received the AAAHC Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accreditation, which distinguishes the surgical center from many other outpatient surgical facilities for providing the highest quality of healthcare to a growing client base. At Infini we believe that you deserve the highest quality of health care we can provide.

"We believe our clients deserve the best, stated Dr. William Hall, founder of Infini Cosmetic Associates and Chief Surgeon. "When you see our certificate of accreditation, you know that the AAAHC, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely examined our facility and Infini Cosmetic procedures and found that our services meet nationally recognized standards for quality health care," Hall said.
Hall continued to explain that surgical centers do not have to be accredited and that many health care organizations are not. Infini chose to seek accreditation because it set a higher goal to achieve for the staff. "Going through the process challenged us to find better ways to serve our patients, and it is a constant reminder that our first responsibility is to our patients and the quality of care we provide," Hall continued.

Dr. Hall advises people to look for the AAAHC accreditation certificate, which indicates quality healthcare. "You'll know it means that Infini Cosmetic Associates cares enough about you to strive for the highest care possible," Hall said. "I find it so disturbing when I hear of the horror stories that occur during simple procedures due to compromised care and quality," he concluded.

Infini, has been featured in the spotlight multiple times in the past few years by Channel 3's Good Morning, 15's Arizona Sonoran Living and news channels 3 KTVX, 12 News, KPHO 5 in addition to magazine articles due to the many safe, effective and minimally invasive procedures they perform and offer on-site, including: tumescent Liposuction, Botox, lip augmentation, Microdermabrasion, Restylane, Radiesse and Juvederm for wrinkles, chemical peels, hair and mole removal, FotoFacials, Fraxel laser treatment, vein treatments and Endermologie for cellulite. Dr. Hall chose his profession as a surgeon because of his perfectionist nature, eye for detail and desire to improve things from every angle - the end result of his work is always an improvement, whether applied to one of his patients or to setting higher standards of service and care.

“We want the growing number of in-line skaters in South Florida to know they can help bring an environmental curriculum to thousands of kids each year,” said The Kids Ecology Corps co-founder Leonard Solomon, the 74 year-old grandfather of eleven and former CEO of Diversified Services/Budget Rent-a-Car.

“We organize events like this to teach and inspire young people that simple actions they take in their daily lives do impact the earth and its precious natural resources.”

Everyone is welcome! The course is 4.4 miles around the park and safe for skaters. Participants are asked to obtain contributing sponsors. Prizes will be raffled for different categories of contributions. A $25 minimum sponsorship provides healthy food, water and sports drinks, and a Kids Ecology Corps T-shirt.

Bad Breath May Equal Bad Health

Bad Breath May Equal Bad Health

Southern California dentist is using advanced technology to identify levels of odor causing bacteria in the mouth.

(PRWEB) September 29, 2005

Mouthwash, breath mints and gum are the common agents we think of when we want to fight bad breath. We tend not to think of technology. But one Southern California dentist is using advanced technology to identify levels of odor causing bacteria in the mouth, which helps determine the cause and subsequent treatment of bad breath.

In his private practice, Dr. Parviz Azar-Mehr, Clinical Professor at USC School of Dentistry, who uses the HalimeterR to scientifically detect the levels of volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) caused by bacterial growth. Measuring VSC accurately and properly is vital for proper diagnosis and treatment of bad breath.

Persistent bad breath, or halitosis, not associated with smoking or eating of certain foods, is almost always a symptom of dental problems, most commonly gum disease. In rare cases, halitosis can be a symptom of more serious general health problems like a local infection in the respiratory tract, chronic bronchitis, possibly diabetes, and even liver or kidney problems according to the American Dental Association.

Mouthwash won't cure gum disease or liver problems. So if you can't tell what's causing the odor by the smell, getting an accurate VSC reading from the HalimeterR may be the better way to fight halitosis.

Parviz Azar-Mehr MDM, is a Prosthodontist and Professor of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Southern California. Dr. Azar-Mehr is a dental specialist with post doctoral training from London University, New York University and the University of Michigan. Dr. Azar-Mehr has taught dentistry for over 25 years.

Rejuvenating Yourself at a Tropical Retreat and Returning with a Spiritual Toolkit, May be Just The Thing to Conquer Stress

Rejuvenating Yourself at a Tropical Retreat and Returning with a Spiritual Toolkit, May be Just The Thing to Conquer Stress

Much of stress is caused by balancing work and family demands. As well, health issues like excess body weight, chronic pain and low energy contribute to the vicious cycle of stress. You can break the stress cycle at a spiritual retreat with things like healthy food, sun, and fun at the beach. For lasting changes, learning, tools like meditation while you're on retreat can help you beat stress, and manage it when you're back home.

Kelowna, BC (PRWEB) February 9, 2006

Much of stress is caused by balancing work and family demands. As well, health issues like excess body weight, chronic pain and low energy contribute to the vicious cycle of stress. The stress cycle can be broken at a spiritual retreat with things like healthy food, sun, and fun at the beach. For lasting changes, learning, tools like meditation while on retreat can help beat stress, and manage it when back at home and work.

Part of the stress of balancing work and family demands can be caused by inability to set effective boundaries. Stress can also be caused by being unable to quiet the mind, for example, when the brain keeps going over and over the same problem. Old 'backed-up' emotions can also cause problems if unexpressed, and these 'backed-up' emotions are the root of much stress and many medical problems.

Praxis Spiritual Centre is offering a one week retreat in Mexico. At this retreat, participants learn a practical, integrated spiritual system that can form the basis of a daily personal meditation practice which can help them manage stress. Skills such as centering, grounding, and how to work with the aura and chakras are taught using a unique experiential method. These tools support students in managing their emotions more effectively, setting personal boundaries, and creating their own reality.

Being low energy, or overweight can also contribute to stress. Through the use of this system, students gain familiarity with their own personal energy and learn to identify foreign energies, which can cause blocks, they also learn to clear these blocks, promoting personal healing, and raising their personal energy levels. According to Darcy Drobena, co-founder of Praxis Spiritual Centre, "when your own energy is flowing, you will heal yourself".

People have overcome debilitating chronic back-pain through practicing the type of meditation taught at the Praxis Retreat in Mexico. Duncan Harte MA, co-founder the centre had a serious childhood injury and suffered with chronic pain. "After using this system, I had the greatest reduction in pain than I had received from any of the other systems I'd tried. I decided right then to study this practice".

Another thing that makes this retreat different is that it includes ‘Exploration Labs’ where participants choose from a list of Expressive Arts (e. g. write a poem about a meaningful experience in Mexico, or sketch something interesting), which integrates what they are learning in class with the experiences they have in their free time, including optional excursions for whale watching and exploring the ancient petroglyphs (rock paintings).

Of course, there is plenty of free time to soak in the sunshine and beauty of coastal Mexico, opportunities to swim, explore the town of Chacala, socialize, or quiet time to simply be.

The retreat takes place at the beach-front Mar De Jade (Sea of Jade) Resort, located 90 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, between lush sub-tropical jungle and expansive sandy beaches. The beautiful accommodations include 3 delicious meals daily, and use of spa facility. (Spa treatments available at a-la-carte pricing). Funds generated from tourism directly benefit the small fishing village community’s medical clinic, school, and businesses.

Relax, rejuvenate and escape winter for the warmth of Mexico in beautiful beach-front surroundings. Learn a simple, integrated spiritual system that forms the basis of a daily meditation practice. After this holiday, students carry away tools which continue to heal their life at home and work and help effectively conquer stress.

February 25-March 3rd, 2006,

Tuition: $650 USD

Accommodations: $875 USD (7nights, single occupancy, 3 meals)

Praxis Spiritual Centre has been operating for 8 years teaching people spiritual tools in a practical way. We offer classes in meditation and healing, as well as annual spiritual retreats in summer and winter.

Master Planned Community Remains Resilient After Technology Bubble Burst

Master Planned Community Remains Resilient After Technology Bubble Burst

When the technology bubble burst on the West Coast, the ripple effects were felt all the way to South Dakota. Although thousands of employees have been outsourced from Gateway's original location in South Dakota, its master planned community nearby (Dakota Dunes) has grown tremendously and is one of the Midwest's fastest growing spots.

Dakota Dunes, S. D. (PRWEB) February 21, 2005

When the late Russell Christiansen told others of his vision for building a master-planned community with beautiful homes, a retail center, business parks and an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course on wooded sand dunes north of Sioux City, Iowa, most thought his idea would never work.

Fifteen years; 2,300 residents; 1,600 employees; 76 businesses; and 600 homes later, most would agree Mr. ChristiansenÂ’s vision was keen. In fact, the former CEO of MidAmerican Energy Company had a plan that has not only boosted the economy for the area, but Dakota Dunes, S. D., has also become one of the fastest growing communities in the Midwest, despite tumultuous times for a few local employers. Dakota Dunes remains a very unique spot in South Dakota where families find several opportunities for recreation and employees are within minutes of their workplace.

The Numbers Speak for Themselves

Census data from the Associated Press shows that since 1990, Union County, S. D. (23.51%), has experienced a larger growth in population, in large part from the Dakota Dunes community, than Chicago (4.03%); Kansas City, Mo. (1.47%); Des Moines (2.84%); Sioux Falls (22.97%); Omaha (16.14%); Lincoln, Neb. (17.51%); Minneapolis (3.86%); and Sioux City, Iowa (5.6%).

Much of this growth evolved when Gateway Inc., located one mile north of Dakota Dunes, was booming. Founder Ted Waitt and his staff began revolutionizing the technology industry with the introduction of their cow-spotted boxes in 1991. In 1993, shortly after the brand was introduced, the company went public.

It was during this boom time that over 5,000 employees worked at the computer makerÂ’s headquarters in North Sioux City. Many of these employees resided with their families in Dakota Dunes.

Then in 1998, Gateway announced that it would move its corporate headquarters to the San Diego area. With this relocation and the purchase of eMachines last year, the company has since moved or outsourced nearly 4,000 jobs from its original North Sioux City headquarters.

A State of Success

The magnitude of this kind of job loss would normally stagnate a master-planned community and idle its growth, but not in the case of Dakota Dunes. Despite the Gateway job loss, Dakota Dunes has continued to grow because of the quality of life and the growth of other businesses.

Since 2000, the master-planned community has seen a net growth of 600 residents, up 35%. In addition to 600 single-family homes, over 300 apartments have been built to accommodate business professionals and empty nesters. Townhomes offered at different price points round out the housing offerings for residents.

Dennis Melstad, president of Dakota Dunes Development Company, said he saw a near-record year in residential sales activity in 2004, spurred by a jump in the number of employees working at companies in southeastern South Dakota.

“With an attractive economic package of low taxes and an exceptional business climate in South Dakota, paired with the amenities offered in Dakota Dunes, businesses are making their move and employees are following,” Melstad stated.

Much of the commercial growth is attributed to the exceptional business climate in South Dakota. In fact, the Washington, D. C.-based Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council rated South Dakota as the friendliest state in the nation to conduct business for the third consecutive year. Since the Council began the rating system in 1995, only two states have held the number one spot—South Dakota and Nevada.

This is due in large part to the fact that South Dakota has no personal income tax; no corporate income tax; no personal property tax; no business inventory tax; no inheritance tax; and no local sales tax. In addition, the property tax levy in Dakota Dunes has decreased over 13% during the past three years.

Home to Great Talent

Even though Dakota Dunes is small in perspective to many other United States cities, the diversity and talent among its residents is enormous. There are surgeons and physicians from across the globe who have chosen to practice in Dakota Dunes because of the growth occurring in the health care field. More than $50 million in medical facilities alone have been built in Dakota Dunes in recent years and over 350 employees are now working in the medical community.

Dr. Ralph Reeder, a native of St. Louis, is one of many physicians who live and work in Dakota Dunes. As a neurosurgeon at the Center for Neurosciences Orthopedic & Spine, P. C. (CNOS), he has easily recruited other neurosurgeons to Dakota Dunes even though there is a shortage of that specialty across the country.

“I attribute this in part to the quality of life they find here, which is absolutely incredible,” said Reeder. “I haven’t found anything else like it, anywhere.”

Reeder isnÂ’t the only Dunes resident hailing from a larger metropolitan area bringing a diverse background to the area. There are residents that have made an impact on a national and global stage in a variety of fronts.

“Our sales people have met some great families during the home buying process,” said Tim Swanson, residential manger at Dakota Dunes Development Company and Dakota Dunes Realty. “In addition to being very helpful neighbors to one another, the residents in Dakota Dunes are our best salespeople.”

Progress with a Plan

The development company and its owner, MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, established a long-term plan for the community. The “Ultimate Scoreboard” calls for 4,300 employees and 5,000 residents by the year 2013. The goal for Dakota Dunes Development Company is to build the community to these numbers so that, in effect, their marketing services are no longer needed.

“Until we have fully utilized all commercial space and platted the last lot in the development, our staff will search for companies looking to expand or relocate and offer residential land to the accompanying employees,” Melstad explained.

“By working with economic development partners, including the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development, we are assisting companies and making great progress in reaching the company’s and community’s goals,” added Melstad.

In addition to the tremendous growth of medical facilities, Dakota Dunes is currently home to national companies like Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc.; BPI Technology, Inc.; Premier Bankcard; and 1st Financial Bank USA.

These and other businesses—along with a steady stream of new residents—have worked together to make Dakota Dunes a bright spot in the Midwest, and one that will bring continued economic growth to the Siouxland region.

College Admissions Officials Use Online College Visits to Save Costs, Increase Reach and Engage Prospective Students Online

College Admissions Officials Use Online College Visits to Save Costs, Increase Reach and Engage Prospective Students Online

Arizona State, Northeastern, Texas Tech, St. Johns, UC Riverside, University of Florida, University of Mary, University of Miami, and the University of New Haven Stage Virtual Open Houses at http://www. CollegeWeekLive. com

Boston, MA (PRWEB) December 4, 2009

An engaging website and a schedule of on-campus open houses are a staple in the admissions arsenal for most colleges. A new breed of college enrollment planners and admissions officials are adding to their reach and cutting costs by meeting with prospective students live via the web at all stages of the admissions process. Schools such as Texas Tech, University of New Haven and the University of California school system are turning to CollegeWeekLive (http://www. CollegeWeekLive. com) for tailored virtual events which enable their admissions representatives to connect with students in a medium that they are at ease with – the internet.

CollegeWeekLive is the leading college fair worldwide. CollegeWeekLive enables students and colleges to meet live online throughout the year and is free to students, parents and counselors. CollegeWeekLive helps colleges improve yield by providing a new opportunity for students to meet live with school representatives, before making a campus visit. Results show that the benefits of a virtual event at CollegeWeekLive are several.

For example, UC Riverside typically stages an on-campus open house every autumn, but this year, given budget limitations, opted to move the event online at CollegeWeekLive. “In the past, we spent significant dollars to run a physical event and had 1,200 attend our Fall open house, only 300 of which were students,” said Emily Engelschall, Director of Undergraduate Recruitment at UC Riverside. “By moving our Fall open house online, we cut 87% of the cost and doubled the number of qualified students who attended.”

Texas Tech staged a virtual open house at CollegeWeekLive in July 2009 which featured virtual booths for admissions, campus housing and dining, financial aid, and student life. Attendees could chat with students currently enrolled in Texas Tech's ten academic colleges. One high school student who attended the virtual open house commented, "Coming from New-Jersey, I was unaware of the many advantages Texas Tech offers with regards to campus life, TECHniques Center, academic program, and pre-professional health program. I look forward to applying to Texas Tech later this fall." The seven hour open house event had nearly 500 visitors. "CollegeWeekLive was effective and user-friendly. We plan to host another virtual Texas Tech day in the spring of 2010, when students are making their final school choices." said Karen Hamel, Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Texas Tech University.

Gil Rogers, Senior Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment Technology at the University of New Haven is an ongoing participant in CollegeWeekLive events. He is staging a virtual open house at CollegeWeekLive Sunday December 6, 2009. “We schedule several on-campus events for prospective students on multiple dates each Fall to meet the scheduling needs of students and their families,” said Gil Rogers “CollegeWeekLive lets us extend our reach to a broader audience of students that might not be able to visit with us on campus due to travel costs or time constraints. We are inviting more than 100,000 students who have previously expressed interest in our university to our upcoming event.”

CollegeWeekLive offers a visually engaging, interactive environment. A virtual open house at CollegeWeekLive is an ideal solution for admissions offices in cost-conscious times. Colleges can save money and better qualify their prospective applicants while extending their reach to students who might not be able to drive or fly to the school for an open house. If you are a student or parent interested in attending an upcoming Virtual Open House at CollegeWeekLive, visit http://www. CollegeWeekLive. com (http://www.
