Dawsonville, GA (PRWEB) April 15, 2010

The 14th Annual 5K Fig Leaf Race will be held Saturday, April 24th, at 10:00 a. m. at the Paradise Valley Resort and Club located off state route 136 near Dawsonville, Georgia. This unique running event attracts approximately 100 runners, a number that grows each year.

After the race, participants are granted access to spend the rest of the day in the sun at this clothing optional resort and club, and admission to the Saturday night dance.

All proceeds from the day benefit the American Cancer Society, a nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. An army of volunteers from the resort assist with registration, awards, refreshments and other assistance as needed. Donors in support of the event range from national chains such as Whole Foods Market, to individual contributors. A raffle of donated goods rounds out the fundraising event.

As one recent participant said: "The 5K race is so much fun. It brings the runners and spectators together for a good cause. I always look forward to this every year and enjoy it tremendously".
