Iranian Studies Group At MIT Releases The Results Of The First ISG-SUTA Thesis Award Competition

Iranian Studies Group at MIT released the results of the first ISG-SUTA thesis award competition. The ISG-SUTA thesis award competition is sponsored by the Iranian Studies Group at MIT and the Sharif University of Technology Alumni association. The award recognizes outstanding graduate theses from across the globe studying different areas of contemporary Iranian society, including management (public and private), economics, education, expatriate communities, international relations, political science, sociology, public health, development, and women’s studies.

Iranian Studies Group at MIT released the results of the first ISG-SUTA thesis award competition. The first prize of this competition was awarded to Sharon Parker for her thesis titled “Embodied Exile: Contemporary Iranian Women Artists and the Politics of Place ”. Reza Falahati Ardestani and Hani Abtahi-Baker received the second prizes and Talinn Gregor, Shirin Hakimzadeh, Shadi Sahami and Manata Hashemi achieved the third prizes. The ISG-SUTA thesis award competition is sponsored by the Iranian Studies Group at MIT and the Sharif University of Technology Alumni association. The award recognizes outstanding graduate theses from across the globe studying different areas of contemporary Iranian society, including management (public and private), economics, education, expatriate communities, international relations, political science, sociology, public health, development, and women’s studies. Academic experts from different fields evaluate theses in this competition and the awardees are selected based on the quality of their scholarship and the practical and theoretical significance of their research. Besides the recognition of their outstanding scholarly work, the awardees receive scholarships of one thousand, five hundred, and two hundred and fifty dollars for first to third prizes respectively. The ISG-SUTA thesis award competition is held annually and applications for the next year competition will soon be available.
