Bellaire, TX (PRWEB) June 22, 2006

On June 25, 2006, Diabetes Centers of America (DCoA) will hold free Blood Glucose Screenings at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in conjunction with the Body Worlds 3 Exhibit.

This will be one of many public screenings held by DCoA since its inception in 2004. DCoA continually strives to promote education and research in the community and is unique among service providers in this field. Further distinguishing the healthcare leader is its use of innovative electronic communications systems.

Created by Dr. Gunther von Hagens, BODY WORLDS 3 is the culmination of the German scientist and physician’s 30-year career in anatomy. Like its predecessors, BODY WORLDS 3 presents more than 200 authentic specimens, including organs and whole body specimens, that have undergone Plastination—von Hagens’ groundbreaking method of halting decomposition and preserving the body after death for medical study, which he invented in 1977. But von Hagens says the Houston exhibit captures the evolution and refinement of his invention to its outer limits. Special admission rates for the exhibit are available through the DCoA website.

DCoA promotes and enhances the health of those with diabetes by applying advances in medicine, education, nutrition and active living. Its mission is to help patients adjust to living with diabetes and to promote wellness through a variety of personalized treatment and educational programs – from medical treatment to diabetes education, nutritional counseling, exercise and lifestyle instruction. DCoA’s expert staff of physicians, diabetes educators, dietitians and medical assistants helps patients take charge of their lives – for the rest of their lives.
