Bariatric Advantage to Offer More Great Education in 2009

In 2008, Bariatric Advantage® successfully launched a series of free professional webinars on topics related to bariatric surgery. They are looking forward to being able to continue and improve this widely acclaimed service in 2009.

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) January 2, 2009

Bariatric Advantage®, a company dedicated to providing the best in nutritional products and services to help programs provide "best practices" care to weight loss surgery patients, reinforced their strong commitment to education in 2008 by launching a free series of on-line educational webinars. The programs have been so successful that the company plans to both continue and expand the offerings for 2009.

"Last year, we offered a dozen webinars on topics ranging from pregnancy and bariatric surgery to vertical sleeve gastrectomy. We were both pleased and amazed by the overwhelmingly positive response from the community," says Dr Jacqueline Jacques, Chief Science Officer of Bariatric Advantage. The webinars are offered for free to healthcare professionals who register at the company's website, and frequently feature expert Dr John Dixon, Head of Obesity Research at Monash University and Senior Clinical Scientist at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne, Australia.

"Dr Dixon has been a big draw for us," notes Dr Jacques. "We look forward to having him present once a month in 2009, and we will be bringing in some new experts as well - in nursing and dietetics. We will also be pursuing offering continuing education credits for both new and past presentations."

The free webinars are archived on the company's website in a special area for healthcare professionals. Doctors, nurses, dietitians and others can create a login and password and can come back to the site at any time to view past webinars. The site also has other useful educational materials for bariatric programs and professionals.

The first webinar of 2009 is slated for Tuesday, January 13 at noon Pacific Time. The topic will be Bone Health and Bariatric Surgery. Dr Jacques states that this topic was one of the most requested during 2008, and she expects the discussion to be lively. "We do live discussion at the end of each webinar," notes Dr Jacques, "and it is often some of the most interesting material. Professionals like to know what their colleagues are thinking about, and what their ideas are, and we are happy to provide them with this forum."
