Local women's magazine growing in popularity in rural two-county area of Michigan

West Michigan Woman magazine is celebrating its one-year anniversary in January 2004, and is a surprising success.

(PRWEB) December 13, 2003

Published bimonthly (six times a year), the magazine focuses on women in Ionia and Montcalm counties and includes fun feature stories highlighting interesting women in the community, as well as promoting local clubs and organizations and important events. Featured women have included a 15-year-old Ionia girl trying to raise $9,000 to buy the harp of her dreams, a woman in Greenville who makes her own homemade designer chocolates, and small Hubbardston fire department with five women on the force. The magazine publishes 6,000 per issue and has a web site at www. wmwoman. com. It is distributed free in the community and has an overwhelming amount of support from the local advertising community and has been in the black since its first issue in January 2003. Published as a "hobby" and a lifelong dream of publisher-editor Jennifer Churchill (who has a 'day' job in the health industry, as well), the magazine will celebrate its One Year Anniversary with an Expo at the local Greenville Area Community Center on Jan. 31, 2004. All advertisers from the past year have been invited to have a free booth. Participants will include: Michigan History magazine, The Michigan Women's Historical Commission, Maxfield's Restaurant, and more. Ms. Churchill is also planning to publish a 2004 Bridal Guide for the women of Ionia and Montcalm counties.
